Awesome traditional Italian food, great service and adorable atmosphere. It was established in 1921 by the Grandmother of the owners. They take such care of the traditional Italian recipes, while adding the extra training found only in Italy. Their brick oven pizza, Prime Rib, etc. best in the state. We tried this place during a recent wine tasting trip to Amador County. Very "old Italy" environment... like you could've been in Florence!!! Parking was interesting, not because it was crowded, just awkward. Food was very good... nice salad, nice pastas, and a wonderful soup!!! Would've given it 5 stars had our server been better... perhaps a bad day, or does she always have a chip on her shoulder. Unfriendly... never smiled and seemed put out whenever we asked for anything, even water refills. I hope it was only an off day for her cause if not, she must have a miserable life. read more

This is not the place to go if you want to eat beef. Third time I have been there when the prime rib isn't available and last time it was only 6pm! And whatever you do - do not order the bone in New York steak - I ordered it rare because these steaks tend to be a bit dry, when it came out it was cooked perfectly however it was so gristly I couldn't cut through it to eat it. I realize this is a small town restaurant but with Swingle's nearby you guys definitely need to upgrade your meat quality or do everybody a favor and just remove this item from your menu. We absolutely love Teresa's Place. The dining room ambiance was perfect for dinner. All our dishes were delicious and flavorful! We started with the minestrone soup which was light and not too hearty which was perfect. Then has the Italian salad. Our entrees were tasty and enjoyable. The red wine was a full body Zinfandel from Shanondoah Valley. Finished with Spinoni ice cream with rich cherry and pistachio. All in all, we had an amazing dinner and enjoyed every minute of it! While visiting family in the gold country foothills, we went to dinner at Teresa's Place, which has been around for quite some time. We all ordered different dinners, however the service was good and appetisers were great! They started us with garlic toasted bread which was good. They were small pieces and just enough so you don't get full. Next the dinner included soup of the day, which I believed was minestrone, came out in a large serving bowl and was enough for 8 of us. The soup was nice and hot and tasted good. Next the dinner service came out with a mixed salad, with a creamy thousand island type dressing. The salad tasted fresh and crisp, which I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food being brought out for our dinners. We did order calamari as an appetiser, it was good, not too oily, not too rubbery as calamari can get sometimes. I had the bolognese pasta, which was hearty and full of taste. It came out nice and hot and tasted very good. I asked the hostess for extra meat and she added a big meat ball! Service was great with the hostess being very attentive and filling drinks, beverages etc. The place has a very home feel like you're at family house instead of a restaurant and along with the service, makes it even more like home! The building is also a historic site for Amador County, feels like an old saloon when you enter from the late 1800's, which is cool! There is a parking lot available and price is very reasonable. Our group of 10 was very pleased with the service we received here. I grew up around homemade Sicilian cooking and am very particular on my Italian dining choices. We are visiting family in the area and they couldn't wait to bring me to here to see how it would fair against my rather high standards. Lol!! Let me just say that this place is GREAT! I ordered the Eggplant and although I did clarify if it was Eggplant Parmesan (it is not breaded like that) it is more of a layered Eggplant lasagna style but with no starch. I actually really enjoyed the lightness of it. My husband ordered the seafood lasagna and I had one bite and was immediately jealous and wishing I could have ordered that dish but he got the last piece. Haha! Lucky!! It's seriously so delicious and packed with seafood! Two family members ordered the Seafood Pasta which is served it a big ole stainless bowl and has heaping amounts of seafood. They do NOT skimp here on the seafood at all. The minestrone soup was loved by my non-Italian group. I thought it was just ok and lacked some flavor and had only one chunk of vegetable in my bowl. Not the typical version I am used too. I could have gone without it personally. But everyone else really enjoyed it. The salad was plentiful and had great veggies in it. My husband and I split a piece of the Triple Chocolate Cake (I am a custom cake Baker and super picky on my cake) and we took that down so fast it was rather embarrassing! Haha! Most of us had leftovers as we were pretty stuffed from being served soup, salad and bread before getting our actual dinner. Our son absolutely loved the bread so much he asked our server if he could take some home and she was so gracious to bring him a loaf. Nothing was messed up on our order and she took our order without writing anything down. We were pretty amazed! This is our 2nd time here. The first time was a couple of years back and the rating would have been a 4. Unfortunately this time not so much. Everything was a hit or miss. Growing up with an Italian mom, I know my Italian food but I also know different regions have their own style. Their entrees come with soup and salad, a plus. The minestrone soup was much different than the chunky, full of vegetables soup I'm use to. This place serves it almost like a puree, what happened to the vegetables? The salad was very good and huge. I did enjoy the dressing but not sure what kind it was. It looked more like a french, thousand island but maybe it was a different kind of Italian? It was still good and I forgot to ask the server. The entrees rating goes has follow: Linguini with Clams - 5 stars, spot on Raviolis- 4 stars but sauce was a bit spicy Messo Messo (half Raviolis and Spaghetti)- 2.5 stars, spaghetti sauce disappointing. Eggplant Parmesan- 1 star, I had a hard time actually finding the eggplant buried under a ton of sauce. There was barely any. The eggplant was soggy and was not parmesan style, just sauce pour on it with minimal cheese. It came with spaghetti but the sauce was watery and did not stick to the noodles. Actually, was surprised with the lack of cheese used on anything. Points off just for this. This is an Italian restaurant why is the only cheese a shaker on the table like a pizza place. Sorry, guys, I wish my review was better but for spending over $100 before tip, we left disappointed. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with Teresa's! The previous reviews created a bit of hesitancy but everything from the restaurant to the food to the service were 5 star. This is a gem in Jackson that we will be sure to revisit. We celebrated a 51 Year Anniversary with parents and kids. Everyone loved their meal. The eggplant parmigiana was a hit with our teenager. The Fettuccini Alfredo and Salmon plates were raves about as well. My personal dish was an amazing NY Strip with melted mozzarella topped with a gravy of tomato's, onions, and mushrooms! It was tender and perfectly tasty. The grounds are beautiful and picturesque. Our server, Dave, was very helpful and made our experience even better. Service was ok, they were pretty busy though, I got one of their specials which was bacon shrimp chipotle alfredo and they put wine in the sauce which completely ruined all of the flavor and left a nasty aftertaste! This place is a landmark - over 103 years of continuous operation. It's a bit of a locals-only place, as it is not an easy find for most people just passing thru Jackson. But I had heard about it and took my wife and another couple there for dinner this week. It was a bit of a disappointment. The food was just ok. The minestrone was ok, but not remarkable. The salad may have been the best part of the meal: lots of fresh tomatoes and more than we could eat. The dressing was excellent. But the pasta dishes we ordered were meh, at best. Two of us had mezzo mezzo - half noodles and half ravioli. It was pretty bland, despite the volumes of sauce that they buried the pasta in. The sauce was decent but needed a little salt to pep it up - and I never put salt on my pasta. However, the pasta was bland and tasted like it came from an inexpensive grocery store. I would have expected something better at a place that has been cooking pasta for over 100 years. Disappointing. My wife's chicken picatta was tough as shoe leather, like it had been frozen and then quickly defrosted. My friends linguini and clams was assaulted with a creamy sauce that made the pasta resemble paste. The taste was ok, but the texture all wrong. We picked Teresa's because they have gluten free pasta. Well, that's what they said, but when we ordered it, they didn't have any. Or claimed not to. I think the cook just didn't want to start another pot of water to cook it. The wine menu was a highlight. Teresa's has a short list, but contains very reasonably priced wines. We had a bottle of Sobon Old Vine Zin that matched our meals well and it was crazy-affordable. The service was very good. read more

What an amazing place! I was introduced to Teresa's by a friend of mine. As a child they would always stop at Teresa's after they picked their Christmas tree and I am so glad he introduced me to his Teresa's. We were there when only outdoor dining was aloud so I did not get to absorb the charm of the interior. The food was so delicious and fresh! The service was great and our server knew the menu like the back of her hand. I was not eating carbs at the time of my visit (I know! I know! no carbs at an Italian restaurant! What was I thinking!) but they were willing to sub out pasta for salad and I really appreciated that! I certainly want to to return and try their lasagna! It looked incredible. read more

For the most part I really like this restaurant, so it was really disappointing last night to be served a desert that was half the size of their usual serving. And then to have to pay 7dollars for a sliver of cheese cake! My wife ordered a serving of walnut pie, her favorite, her slice was thinner than the cheesecake my grandson and I ordered. Husband and I had the most delicious dinner at Teresa's tonight. Literally hit 100% on all aspects tonight from the service to nicely carbonated sodas to the amazing soup AND salad and finally our entrees. Hubs had the mezzo mezzo (1/2 spaghetti and 1/2 raviolis) with two meatballs. The bolognaise had the delicious deep flavor of a long cook. The meatballs were flavorful with great texture. I had the chicken d'aglio and there are just not enough words to praise the sauce. I swear I would have licked the bowl if others hadn't been around. We both agree this was our best meal of 2022. Older restaurant, horrible driveway first 10 spots are if you want a door ding in your nice car, after that you need to park in the North 40, have your hiking boots ready to trek up the hill to the front door. Had the spaghetti and meatballs (watery and lack of flavor). Very Expensive for what you get and have to hear the owners political belief on whoever will listen to him. Who wants that when you are trying to sit down to a meal? The Good - There is a newer Italian restaurant just down the road with NICE Owners and fresh Italian food. Our family has tried this place twice now since moving to Jackson, and I so badly want to like it, but after tonight I definitely wouldn't be willing to go back a third time. We arrived happy and left miserable. Our first time my meal was ok, but both my husband and son didn't get what they ordered, and their disappointing meals arrived at least 30 minutes after mine was finished. We tried again for Father's Day. The soup, salad and bread were great, but my spaghetti bolognese was totally inedible - the sauce tasted burnt and had such an unpleasant flavor, even if it wasn't, it was a total waste. We left and went to the grocery store so I could get something to eat. :-( read more

Ate at Teresa's last night with the family. The hostess (who was one of the daughters) was very kind and let us sit in a quiet area of the restaurant with our two little boys. Everyone was very attentive and sweet. The food arrived promptly and the servings were fairly large that by the time we received our main entrees we couldn't finish our food! Cute place kinda off the beaten path. We had a gift certificate so why not give it a try. Food was plated well but just ok taste wise. Although the bread with balsamic vinegar and oil was very good. The minestrone soup was more like a bean soup. Wasn't sure at first of the taste but added a lil salt and pepper and it was good.I've never had prime rib cooked the way they did it. It was pretty but dry. Pasta was so so, salad would have been good if there was Italian dressing or something other than what they had. Didn't care for the anti pasta that comes with all the dinners at all.. It was all. Don't think I'll ever go back unless it's for the soup. Probably to go as well. Staff wasn't very friendly. Oh also my husband ordered the fried chicken and it had no taste other than oil. Big disappointment! read more

People kept insisting I try this place, but I was ultimately disappointed. I did live in the Italian neighborhood of North Beach in SF for over a decade, so my expectations were maybe too high. The positives are the bar area. It looks like a nice place for a cocktail (accounts for one star), but I would stop at the drink menu. It definitely has curb appeal, too (accounts for the second star). Unfortunately the negative is a big one: the food. We had the antipasto, which is unlike any antipasto I have ever had in the worst possible way. The minestrone was the consistency of water. And the ravioli was not edible. On 4/2/2019 my wife and I had dinner at Terresa's Italian restaurant. I was impressed with the old style building and the interior decor. Very nice. Our dinner included, bread, minestrone soup and salad. Very tasty. I ordered the linquine with clams and my wife ordered Lasagna. Both dishes were excellent tasting, We finished by having the cheese cake for dessert. I don't know if they make it from scratch at the restaurant, but it sure tasted homemade. The price of the meals were reasonable under $50 not including the tip. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our time at the restaurant. I would encourage anyone to stop and have a meal at Teresa's. It was well worth it for us, and I plan on returning. read more

WOW!! What a surprise find! Not much open in Jackson on Monday night- but how lucky we were we to stumble upon this fine gem. Starting with the warm welcome and ice cold beer. Our dinner started with crusty bread, a course of hearty homemade minestrone soup and FRESH garden salads. I had the seafood pasta, which I am told is quite popular and I can see why. No shortage of fresh seafood here. Calamari, prawns, shrimp, muscles and cod. My beautiful wife had the most delicious Alfredo with prawns- fettuccine cooked to perfection, and Alfredo as flavorful as it was delicate. You'll step back in time as you enter the bar. We wanted to try a new place for dinner a couple weeks ago, and it was our good fortune to select Teresa's Place! It was a great experience from the moment we set foot in the door. Coming from a movie, we made it there minutes before they stopped seating for the night. As we were being seated, the host told us a little history about the three generation family Italian restaurant. There were several other tables full; still, the noise level was low. The decor was homey and wonderful food smells filled the air. Our food and beverage orders were taken promptly, and each dinner came with both soup (delicious homemade minestrone) AND salad, as well as warm, fresh bread. Our two entrees (lasagna and fried chicken) were delicious and the portions were generous. It was an all-around great meal! We will definitely be planning a return visit! read more

The family has run this business for generations and the walls of the restaurant show the history of the business and the area. I cannot remember feeling more welcome at anywhere. Back at Teresa's with 17 others for a club lunch on Friday and the steak sandwich was just fine, and my husband really liked his polenta and meatballs, and the usual great salad that goes with those of course. We love her salad dressing. Everyone in the group appeared to like theirs too and we're old fans of course with lots of experience there for decades and was telling them about the first time I went there 55 years ago, an experience I'll never forget. We were starving, coming back from Tahoe on 88 and the food was so great I almost started crying. Loved it ever since, even with all the changes, and it's always nice to see T so I'm really glad they've started serving lunch again, even if it's only on Fridays. read more

If you would like to experience racism at it best, this is the place for you. I went in for dinner and there were some ppl yelling opinions (racist to say the very least) out loud. I asked the bartender Dave to make it stop and he told me they are almost done... hence tolerate the racism. It got to a point that I had to get up and leave. I called back and asked for the manager she refused to come to the phone; i was told they didn't hear any racism.... I was then told to do what you have to do to complain about it. Clearly they don't care about customer service let alone decent humanitarianism. If you support ppl, who support racism then please go and spend your money here. Friendly, welcoming, will answer questions about the long history of the property and business. They seem to appreciate that we appreciate the history and wanted to know more.
