My husband & I had dinner at Teresa's last night & we loved it! First of all, we were glad to find a good restaurant opened on a Monday night, but aside from that, it is a real cozy, casual atmosphere with good food. Before your main entree, they bring you bread & minestrone soup, then a salad that has everything in it with the best dressing on the side. I tried to get the recipe for the dressing but it is a 100 year old secret. We both had spaghetti with meat sauce that was delicious! The service was good, very friendly & accommodating. Not overly priced, just right. We were visiting the area from Reno & this restaurant was recommended to us at our hotel. Will definitely go back next time we are there. read more

This was honestly a terrible experience. I went to dinner here tonight with a party of 12 people. I ordered 1 Diet Coke, 1 children ravioli, and 1adult ravioli. My check for my ticket was $47 dollars!!! The raviolis that I had only had 7 on my plate!! I believe they gave me two childrens ravioli plates and charged me for the adult size which was $26. I also got charged $5 for each place setting for my kids. When asked about this charge they said it was for the dirty dishes. What?????? I left feeling hungry and angry. The rest of the party I was with were also absurdly overcharged. I don't mind paying the price if it is worth it and a decent amount of food but it was not. The ravioli sauce had zero flavor. The bread was cold. Just not fair to charge that much. read more

The only reason it is five stars is that Yelp will not let me give it ten... Today is Mothers' Day... We are in the midst of Shelter in Place, lockdown, to go only -- whatever you want to call, "No inside dining" no matter how much begging... We ordered one of the Mothers' Day specials - the scampi dinner... It was delivered on time, still hot in its insulated containers and totally delicious... The main course, the soup, the salad -- even the wonderful fresh bread was as good as it gets... With Teresa's Place it is both an honor and a privilege to "support local" for fine Italian dining... Cannot wait until this lockdown is behind us, but in the meantime, we will continue to order for home eating... read more

This is not a review of a specific experience at Teresa's, but after eating here regularly for 22 years figured it was time to show some love. The history of this place is just the icing on the cake. All the food is excellent and you really feel like you are having a home-cooked meal by Mama Teresa herself. Don't just breeze through the bar, either - one of the best martinis I've ever had is right here. Love their new outdoor patio too! Parking can be a challenge, but worth the effort. Hopefully Teresa's place will be around for another 100 years! read more

It's disappointing when a bussiness has been around this long and the only reason it still is around is due to it being around this long. Soups were out of a bag, salad dressing tasted like old fish, the main course sauce was Bertollis from the grocery store. Just completely and utterly underwhelming. Solid drinks though. Was at Teresa's place last night. 12/21/2021. Not impressed at all. Ordered the ravioli with white sauce. Totally inedible and had a taste of the way canned dog food smells. My husband had a steak and it was tough and chewy. The soup was not good. Overall very disappointed. The chocolate cake was very good and made fresh that day... our server made sure to mention it was made that day! When paying such high prices you would expect the food to reflect that! read more

Yes, places still exist that are unique, historic, and are still owned by the original family who are celebrating their centennial this year. If you're local, they probably know your name. If you're from Granite Bay and your name is Sierra, then stay there since you wouldn't know good food and friendly-but-honest if it bit you on your sanctimonious derrière. By the way, while you're walking to the front door from the parking area and complaining all the way about the slight incline, look to the right where you will see the historic Jackson Gate rock formation. Or you could just park across the street and walk in the front door like all the locals. Since that area isn't striped, maybe your previous conveyance won't suffer door dings. My family went to Theresa's for Thanksgiving Dinner. We were all disappointed which pretty much ruined Thanksgiving since the meal is what we look forward to on this holiday! To start, when we arrived, excited to try a restaurant we had never been to, we didn't get as much as a "hello". We were asked if we had reservations which we said Yes, and were scurried off to our table. We sat there with no explanation of the food offered, or the fact that they just plop it on the table and l had to serve all the portions out to my family. There was horrible soup, l had to stand to dish up, then the salad, which again a dished up. Then came the meal. A small platter with pieces of turkey, no nice slices, just a bunch of small pieces. Mashed potatoes and a half cup of stuffing each! No veggies or yams... just those three items! If I knew that there was going to be only three items I would have stayed home and cooked. I wanted to be served a nice fancy meal without having to do the work . No one checked on us,, and for $37.00 each, i really expected more. I will say, the food tasted good, but this experience really took the wind from our sails. I won't be going back. read more

I was in town for my elderly housebound mothers birthday. A short vist for all . I have been to Teresa's twice before, once with my Dad who has now passed, and once with my mom for lunch, and I just loved the place and my memory fo my quiet time with them there. It is a place that is ALL ABOUT FAMILY, the good stuff. What a lasting legacy and tradition they uphold. I went looking for this place with a friend who had a transformative 4 years living with my folks in Ione, who also came to see her. He had never been in all the time he lived in Amador Co. We both loved our food. Teresa's granddaughter welcomed us and gave us a beautiful cozy, very cool corner after a day out in the hot sun. The waiter was wonderful and made great recommendations ( he is right about the glass of Sangiovese I had) and the soup is Teresa's orginal, still made the same and delicious. You cannot NOT enjoy the ambiance, and great food. So much fun history there over a whole century. Do not ever close! read more

It's been 18 years since I ate at Teresa's Place. I remember it being excellent having eaten there several times years ago.My wife and I had dinner there on a Sunday night and the service was borderline at best. I was looking forward to having a seafood pasta and was told they were out of seafood on Sundays. I remember them having small meatballs that were excellent and our server told me she would check with the chef and see.......my order (lasagna, which tasted like warmed up frozen, , had no meatballs!) came an no mention or apologies as to meatballs.Food and ambiance was still there, great location with lots of parking, but not what I remember from years past.I was visiting from Redding area(3 hour drive) and would never revisit Teresa's again..... read more

We went to Teresa's Place for some Italian food and read the great reviews. Unfortunately, that does not apply to their Linguine with Clams. My daughter and I both ordered that off the menu and we were left wondering: Where were the clams? Did the cook/chef actually taste the food for salt for flavor before sending it to our table? Did they use, God forbid, "canned clams" if any? I'm glad my sister ordered something different and actually enjoyed her meal. I've now been 3 times within the last year. Staff is always friendly. My first order I got the fried chicken. I do not recommend that as there was no meat on the 4 tiny pieces of chicken. My second time I ordered chicken parm and it was amazing, I do recommend that. My third visit I ordered the filet minon and I do not recommend that either. Also with that visit, there was a bread tie in my salad and I bit it. They did apologize but didn't even comp the salad at the very least. Teresa and the family have been serving up hearty Italian-style country comfort for as long as I can remember and have never failed to deliver a good experience. On my most recent visit with my family, our eyes were clearly bigger than our stomachs. From the get-go we went all out. We started with the antipasto, a heaping bowl of olives, tomatoes and other assorted goodies in the mother-country style. It was cold, tangy and addictive. I also loved the crisp bread chips (as I call them) laced with a generous drizzle of buttery, garlic goodness. I wasn't nearly as thrilled with my main dish, the lasagna, which was heavy on the cheese and oil and light on meat or any savory flavor. It was so heavy, in fact, that I only ate half of it. This is coming from a man who is known for clearing his plate except under the most extreme circumstances. I suppose that after a meal that filling, it would be foolish of me to order dessert. But I did. The coconut cream pie was also a disappointment. The crust was good, but the filling was essentially pudding buried under an excess of whip cream. Any meal here is made all the better by the exceptional service. Our waitress had heard timing down perfectly. She never interrupted except when necessary and was nothing but smiles. I'm so glad I found this place. What a hidden gem! This place is very welcoming with that small town feel. Everyone is friendly and the ambiance has some great rustic charm. The food was incredible. We had the calamari appetizer which we highly recommend, bread, soup, and salad all come before your meal as well. We had the lasagna and it was fabulous. Full of cheese and meat. We also had the linguine with clams which was hands down probably the best version of this dish I've ever had. Perfect for the family or a date night. Large portions for an affordable price. Teresa's granddaughter greeted us and made us feel so welcomed. The service was really good and the food was delish! The minestrone soup was SO good. I'm not a big salad eater but theirs was really good and fresh. Hubby liked his prime rib and I had a chicken and asparagus with crab sauce dish that was very good. Get there early and/or make a reservation! The place gets packed! Minus 1 star due to our pasta sides being just ok, not bad but not wow like the rest of our food. But other than that... I attended my high school reunion last night and it was held in Teresa's banquet room. The food was so subpar, it was crazy. The teenage boy giving you one small slice of bread (it was buffet style) was not wearing gloves. I asked him "shouldn't you be wearing gloves?" I got a blank stare. The marinara sauce tasted canned, the penne was gooey and chewy and the vegetables had been boiling for probably two days. Dessert was Costco cookies. Will never eat there again and would never recommend it. I give the woman bartender 5 stars. She was the highlight of the evening. I am sorry I have forgotten her name. read more

Omg omg omg!!!! Homemade cooking to a T!!! Our group of 60 bike riders stopped here for a group meal and they took care of us completely. First off the minestrone soup was so delicious, chicken Marsala was moist and fresh, bread was warm and last we had prime rib. They have a great garden area and the staff was so prompt and friendly. As much as we wanted to like this spot it was a real disappointment. I like that it's a family business and been in existence for many years. First off, you don't want to be in a hurry if you come here. We waited to be seated for 10 minutes which wasn't bad, but it was another 45 minutes before our server acknowledged us and took our order. It's not because she was ignoring us but she was busy and obviously easily sidetracked. We are patient and were still hopeful that it would be worth waiting for. Once we ordered we waited again for sometime before our soup arrived. The minestrone is very good. Nothing better on a cool evening. We both would have liked another bowl but were afraid we'd be too full for our entrees. The salad followed shortly after. It was nicely presented on a serving plate, and our server put it down and walked away. We weren't sure if she was coming back to serve us but after waiting we dug in. It's a bit awkward to serve whole leaves of romaine gracefully but we managed to get on our plates. The ingredients were fresh, and I especially liked the seasoned chickpeas. The soup and salad were so good that we were looking forward to our entrees. Unfortunately the entrees were not of the same quality. My surf and turf special of NY steak and scallops became steak and scampi because they ran out of scallops. That would have been fine if the scampi wasn't served in a watery bland sauce and overcooked/tough. The steak was cooked as requested but was thin, rather tasteless and tough. Mr. S had nothing good to say about his under seasoned bolognese sauce and "the worst meatball ever" that was a strange hard texture and flavor. Nearby diners left before their entrees because they got tired of waiting. In hindsight I wish we had done the same. One star is for the soup and one star for my tasty $6 glass of Vin from a local winery. I doubt if we'll repeat the experience but if we did, a meal of just soup and salad would be ok with me. read more

This was a very pleasant place, and we would have never considered it without the information provided here at yelp. It is a very unique historical spot, and worthy of your careful consideration. First, we would go back. The building looks fantastic, but this is not on the main street, and so you may feel lost just prior to finding it. We used our GPS system, and we still struggled to get there. Our party of four had a pizza, a chicken piccata dish, and a scampi dish. All were good, but the pasta sauce they served with the chicken and scampi dishes seemed to need some zing. The scampi, pizza, and piccata were all very good. The meals were all served family style with a bowl of soup, and then a salad with the dressing on the side. The house dressing was a very unique blend horseradish and a Russian dressing base. The soup was tasty, the bread good, but the wine and ravioli topped it all. We finished it off with a slice of raspberry cheesecake that was also oh, so tasty. Before the main course bread, soup and salad served family style and all you can eat were all very good. The four of us each ordered a different meal and we were all happy. Instead it's exactly what I would expect from a local spot that has been around for 100 years. Tasty fresh food that is extremely well priced.
