This bar is a hidden treasure in one of the coolest little towns you can stop in. Miners Lounge has a rare mixture of great food, insane variety, and phenomenal bar tending. The facts I have to back all these statements up is seen as soon as you enter. Variety is on the specials board with anything from lumpia and ribs to tater tots and a chopped cheese. Visited for the first time in August and Wow, what a great lounge. The service, friendliness and cocktail knowledge was a 10/10. As I walked down the stairs from the street and opened the door, I knew I would love this place as the atmosphere was as welcoming as the two bartenders working that day. We noticed a bottle of Pisco, a Peruvian liquor, among the bottles on a lower shelf and asked for a Pisco Sour. Roger crafted the perfect drink with skills equal to the world's best bartenders. One star, because zero isn't an option. My friends and I were visiting Angels Camp from out of state and decided to check out Miners Lounge (also with the good reviews we wanted to give it a try). We walked in and were waiting for one of our group to use the restroom before ordering, when I approached the bar to avoid just standing around awkwardly, that's when the bartender "Roger" I believe his name is, instead of offering any sort of greeting or basic human decency, hit me with a condescending "What are you doing here?" Confused, I asked if I should leave, to which he snapped that he needed my ID, no problem. That's standard, but the attitude was anything but. I proclaimed I would not be spending a dollar if they deemed that appropriate way to be treating potential customers. After that, the vibe shifted fast. He seemed irritated that I didn't immediately grovel or something. We sat down to wait for our friend, but the bartender began openly mocking me across the bar. Classy. We decided to leave, and as we walked out, he called me a "b*tch" not worth the energy or fight. My boyfriend ordered a drink, called the bees knees, and then order a second because he liked it so much. Found this place on a whim, we were passing through and thankfully the bartender at the end of Main St recommended Miner's Lounge. To say that the food was delicious is an understatement. We had the special- bulgogi bahn mi, beef & chicken skewers and the lumpia. Let me tell you, we have gone to numerous Vietnamese and Filipino cuisine restaurants throughout our explorations in the past but this place had the literal hands down BEST food we have had in a very long time. When we ordered the food and the kind bartender recommended the food, we were honestly not expecting much-- it's food at a bar, generally from our own experiences we have very rarely found good food! I don't think many would expect that. I wanted to so badly to inquire for the chefs name and even meet the mastermind behind the masterpieces we ordered. To the chef and or cook(s), I applaud your work and creativity. To the owner/ designer of this establishment, you've struck gold with your staff and design of this establishment. Had the opportunity to visit Angels Camp Sunday before last. Being my first time to Angels Camp, I knew nothing of the towns merchants. We found a spot to park and discovered the coolest subterranean bar a few stairs down from Main Street. What a wonderful contrast here to the late 1800s vibe upstairs on main street. The attention to detail and relaxed and clean ambience is testimony to the owner's style. Dark woods, perfect back lighting, and spacious lounge areas to relax in. Everything is immaculate (including the restrooms). We sat at the bar, where we were served by *Natasha!!!... Beautiful presentation of cocktail ware too!. What a fabulous hostess/bartender she was! It has such a good layout to watch games with friends, and the cocktails are amazing. I finally got to check out Miners Lounge today. I have been waiting for my opportunity to go in there since they have tried to open in March. This bar is by far the nicest bar in Calaveras County. They have great cocktail specials and such an awesome spot. It reminds me of the nice basement speakeasy bars in the city. Staff was extremely friendly and easy to strike up a conversation as I was checking it out by myself. Do yourself a favor and don't wait to check out this hidden gem that is still open.
