A local recommended this place for good food at reasonable cost. I was a bit hesitant given the 3.5 Yelp stars, but oh my, what a pleasant surprise. Their carbonara was so good I forgot to snap a photo! They make it with local guanciale aged for six months, and local duck egg yoke. Amazingly fresh and similar to what I had in Rome. Their burger also beat the one I had at the steakhouse and many other places. The smoked ribs were top notch as well. They change their menu frequently, so you gotta be sure to check their website. If you're looking for a beautiful patio space near the creek and you care for good food but not the fancy stuff, go no further. They serve in paper plates. I asked for a glass instead of a hard plastic cup for my lemonade last night and I was met with resistance! We don't that and you must use our toxic plastic glasses and glasses are reserved for alcohol. I had not been there is a year or and thought I would try again. My fault as the staff was rude and pensive and the food was just ok. And the bank played way off to the side of the patio when they should play on the patio. Poorly run business and I will never go back. Came for the burger :) My husband and I live in the East Bay and wanted to go on a lil drive. We decided on Murphy's for the Watering Hole burger which did not disappoint. We ordered 2 Double Cheese Burgers, the Broccoli Bacon Ranch Salad and an order of French Fries that included a side of ranch. All of what we ordered was delicious. The burgers come with double patties and are grilled along with the onions, the bun lightly toasted, soft and sweet and included a smear of 1,000 dressing. The burgers have 2 different types of cheese, fresh crispy shredded lettuce, pickles and sliced ripe tomato. It is the perfect combination and proportions of all ingredients. The Broccoli Bacon Ranch salad was not like anything I have had before and was a nice surprise to our taste buds. The salad included fresh bell peppers both yellow and red. It also had pickled onions, sunflower seeds, bacon and blue cheese that was all tossed together with ranch dressing which made it very convenient and easy to eat. Last but not least, the French Fries. They included a nice seasoning on the outside for a crispy texture and a creamy inside which I love. I liked the fact that they serve the fries with homemsde ranch and I didnt even have to ask for it...it's the little things for me. We sat inside to dine, I enjoyed seeing what others were eating, of course lots of burgers but also ribs, pasta, chicken sandwiches, salads and even cheese cake for dessert. I like that the menu offered a variety of options and brought great value for the quality and care that you can taste in every bite! I did not notice any issues with service as I saw other reviews reported. I would say that the inside, although cozy was a bit loud while others socialize. I think it was simply the high ceilings that carry the noise. Wow. Absolutely beautiful brewery! The Watering Hole is an amazing find! The vibe here is unmatched--gorgeous outdoor seating right next to a rushing creek, and jaw-dropping interior decor milled from local timber. Basically I got too scare to even try to eat there, after reading other yelper's review. But afternoon, my husband and I went for beer, I have soda. Their beer is good. 1) Decor is very nice. Oftentimes it involves ordering "accidentally" vegan food such as chips & guac and salad with no dressing, but the Watering Hole became our dinner spot for two nights in a row for 3 reasons: 1. The INCREDIBLE Impossible Burger 2. The BEAUTIFUL creek 3. The ENCHANTING restaurant interior The burger was to die for. Straight up. I was absolutely obsessed with their hamburger buns from the first bite. One of the greatest vegan hamburgers I have ever had. The service was also fast and the staff were attentive and friendly at all times. Inside, the restaurant had a VERY homey feel without being cramped like many other "homey" style establishments. The SOARING tall ceilings and SPRAWLING space made you feel like you were in a luxury cabin (complete with an inviting fireplace with relaxation seating). This was our first time in and it's great! I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because they don't have any N/A beer. With their 40 beers and huge refrigerated beer selection, not one non-alcoholic beer to be had. I will say that the location is beautiful and clean, the service is great, and their beer selection was plentiful! There was a great food menu with lots of options. I called to ask whether the World Cup final would be on tomorrow. I started the conversation by saying, "Hi, how's your day going? I'm calling to see if you'll be showing the match tomorrow." The response I received was, "Not for you." I assume the employee was trying to be funny, but it came across as rude and unwelcoming. He then added, "The game will be on, but the volume won't, so don't even ask." I've worked in the service industry and as a bartender for many years of my life. If his goal was to make us feel unwelcome before we got there he did a great job. We're all service industry. We tip well, respectful, and like to have a lot of fun. We saw the negative reviews but decided to give this place a chance anyway. The beer was good, and the patio was a great spot. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The man behind the counter/bar (possibly the manager) was incredibly rude to everyone and came across as dismissive and arrogant. Customer service goes a long way, and we certainly didn't feel welcomed or appreciated. We even took the time to bring our empty glasses back to the bar ourselves, and he didn't acknowledge us or even say "thank you." It's a small gesture, but it speaks volumes about how customers are treated. My husband is a veteran, and one thing we've both learned is that respect costs nothing. We weren't looking for special treatment, just basic courtesy and appreciation as paying customers. Unfortunately, we didn't receive either. There are plenty of other great places in Murphys that genuinely value their customers. We had much better experiences at Murphys Pourhouse and the Irish Pub, where the staff were friendly, welcoming, and made us feel appreciated. This place was great! I got the spare ribs, my boyfriend got a chicken rice noodle dish - both so good!! You walk in to a giant canned beer selection (more on tap) and order at the counter. Pick up your own food and bus your own table. There was no waiter to come ask how it is just as your mouth is full. We sat outside next to the water the atmosphere was so chill and relaxed. First the good. Lots of beer selections, 40 beers on tap, hundreds in the cooler. Now the bad. The owner has a total attitude and is a total turn off. We had a good lamb burger but the Fried Chicken Pizza sandwich was literally full of human hair. The owner argued it was "the cheese" and said "I don't see what you are seeing." That's balls arguing with someone patronizing your restaurant! After him making my daughter pull the hair out to prove to him it was hair (one of many I saw) the owner's attitude changed. Now, being a local and living here, this is the first owner I have experienced that needs some serious attitude adjustment in questioning a customer who complains about a health issue. Making someone "prove" to you there is hair in food is a deal breaker to ever coming here again. There is the "The Pour House" down the street and they are extremely friendly. Also a local owner serving not just tourists but locals and understands the value of a small local community reputation. I am sure the owner will blow this off with his pompous attitude but word spreads fast in town. Being 75% empty on a Saturday at 6:30pm was a sign something isn't working well. The owner should take a good look at how he runs his business. I was so ticked I forgot to take a photo of it but 9 years of restaurant reviews and eating at hundreds of restaurants, we know human hair is not cheese! Insulting a customer is one of the worst things on top of denial. Won't be back and suggest you skip it. They do have the impossible chicken nuggets and the french fries unfortunately are pre-battered and have egg on them. I just found this out after eating about half an order of french fries and feeling like I have to throw up. The staff weren't even entirely clear on the ingredients and I had to insist that he asked the kitchen to check the packaging just to find out what to expect for the rest of my evening. The person I spoke with even tried to gaslight me and said "well, maybe it's something else you came in contact with." Wrong. If something's got egg in it -- it's going to make me throw up and if I don't throw up then I'm just going to feel nauseous for the rest of the evening. There aren't a lot of options in Murphys but if you're vegan, give this one a pass. One star for the nice outdoor seating and one star for a beer. read more

For those that are not into beer, like myself, you can also get wine here (although options are limited), or just come for the food. They have typical bar & grille type of food - I decided to go with a cup of their tomato soup as well as an order of their fried cheese curds. Both were delicious - the latter, in particular, was super tasty but very, very heavy, so best to be shared with a group of people. They also offer complimentary popcorn and self-serve water here. There are some good things about the Watering Hole that deserve mentioning, but the glaring issues need to be covered first. 1) The system for ordering is cafeteria style , not appropriate for a beer place. Want another beer? Go stand in the line with everyone who is ordering food. So even though there is a bar with people pouring beer, you have a long line every time you want another beer, with yet another transaction on the credit card. We beer geeks sometimes want to chat with the bartender about beer as we consider our next pint, but here, they get your ticket, pour, and leave it on the bar for you to pick up. . To funnel people into the ordering line in the front, you're told by a big stop sign by the rear door to not enter through the rear, even though it's the easiest way to enter from the parking lot. Not a big deal, but still. When you are done, you bus your own table. This model is becoming increasingly common because its efficient, but something intangible is lost. The whole system alone is enough to keep me from coming here if I want a few beers. 2) Presentation is basically paper plates. Total mismatch with both the beautiful decor and the prices. 3) Not enough parking at busy times 4) Lots of TVs but they want music on so not a good place to watch a game. We went there for dinner, the man behind the counter/ bar was very rude. Maybe manager?? Brown haired short guy. I asked for extra BBQ sauce for the ribs, he rude getting that for me. The cashier said they have extra on the counter. After eating I asked for some foil to cover my plate to go so that I can take my leftovers home, he replies no, you can have this biodegradable box. (whatever) I told him thank you. Our other guest asked for an extra box for theirs as well and a bag so that the BBQ sauce would not spell during transport in my car. He thought he was funny and yelled at us across the room No you can't have a bag. I was like excuse me. " He replies we are not a Corporate company, and we don't just give this away." I told him after spending over 150.00 for food I should not have to ask for it. I will not be back, the food was just ok, the ribs were tough, and the BBQ sauce was not good, basically ketchup and brown sugar, the coleslaw was flavorless. When I walked over with my food to get condiments and napkins the napkins disintegrated on my fries. Okay, I really want to love this place but it's just a like for me. Yes the beer options are aplenty and the wine selection is tempting too. The atmosphere is great like a lodge up in the snow country that you go to and hang out with friends. And a great outdoor patio (dog friendly) that sits by a stream....ah relaxing... But the food menu.... There are some tasty things but for the price I'm paying for I want a little more and maybe some better presentation. For examples... the burger (which hubby says was good tasting) comes with no sides? No fries? No optional side salad? The house teriyaki salmon which was yummy said it came with seaweed salad. The seaweed salad about 2 tablespoons (barely two bites) was smaller than the wasabi aioli condiment that was served with it. There was so much open space on the plate. .... My recommendation would to be to add a scoop of rice (very low cost) serve at least 4 tablespoons of seaweed salad and make it a bowl. read more

The food was excellent! I had the bourbon smoked ribs and fries and coleslaw. The ribs had NO fat and there were 5 big ribs! The fries were the best fries I've ever had. Seasoned just right and fried perfectly. Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Veronica greeted us immediately and let us know all the ins and outs of the Watering Hole. She's very friendly and welcoming. The establishment was very clean and had a nice ambiance, and there's over 40 types of beer to choose from!! The prices of their entrees are very, very reasonable.
