Outside the Murphy's Hotel and Bar. Iconic. !!

Super Excellent in every way. We went to the bar and had a beer and went back later for drinks and dinner at the bar. Romeo the bartender is a pro. Terrific atmosphere and service. The food and drinks were excellent as well. The setting is real, with the authentic bar from the 1800s. Could not have wished for a better experience which welcomed us to Murphys and made our trip to see the Big Trees really memorable. Will travel this way again.

The food was delicious and our waitress was so attentive and gave out some great recommendations. Parking is on street and they do have a parking area for hotel guest. I got the Portabella sandwich with french fries with roasted red peppers and my husband got the California Grill chicken club sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and large slices of avocados. We also got a Apricot beer, Snoweizen and a Firestone Mine Haze IPA. The Murphy's Hotel Saloon was a very nice place to kick back and enjoy a afternoon on the patio. I would totally recommend this place and they also had a lot of local wines. No dogs on patio was the only bummer.

First time visiting Murphys and stopped for lunch here. Cute little haunted historic hotel. Apparently this hotel has hosted the likes of JP Morgan, S Crocker and more. Their names are on the front door of the room they stayed in. Eleanor is the ghost. Her husband was a miner that died in the mines and she died in the hotel waiting for him. Lunch was tasty and especially the bread pudding which I hate to limit myself. Lumpia was a surprise to see on their menu but were crisp and filled with ground chicken and some veggies.

Cute old bar in downtown Murphy. We came for Raiders game and didn't have to wear a mask thank god! The bartender had his hands full, worked the tables and bar, so service was a little slow, but the food was very good and the bar is really cool and cozy in a historic hotel. We were on vacation and looked for a bar to watch the game and found out it's a Raiders bar too.

Bartenders work hard and do not disappoint. I have had a few items on the menu and been pleased with them all.

Met a female friend here for an early Happy Hour dinner last week (her selection). My first visit…read moreand upon pulling into the parking lot I was questioning her choice. Then I noticed the customers cars- all new nice vehicles (MBZ sedan, new Ford Bronco, Toyota 4-Runner, etc) The bar section was kind of crowded at 4:30pm, only a couple of seats open, so we sat in a funky raised booth with our backs to the window. Seemed like a lot of regulars as they all knew one another. Female bartender came out and took our beer orders and then brought menus. We ordered food (fish & chips, and a BLTA Club). Friend said they have great fish & chips and she was very pleased. i was surprised to find the BLTA far above my expectations for a pub. Fries were good too- perfectly cooked to a golden brown. I would go back for that sandwich when in that area of town. The food items were each just over $20-24, four beers $9 each. With tax and 20% tip it was just under $100 I'd go back 100%. Not a place I'd take a date, however.

The drinks were big and fair for non alcoholic drinks. The cheese sticks were really good. The…read morebuffalo sliders were really good but pricey with no side. Their onion rings very good. The fish sandwich was ok, nothing to brag about. I have had much better and price was kinda high. Their churro desert with vanilla ice cream was amazing. I guess my biggest complaint would be price.I know everything is expensive, but $82 before tax and tip is a lot for 2 people for bar food.

I really did not feel like going somewhere fancy like I usually do in Tahoe. After searching around…read morea bit I decided to come here given the large food menu and the decent cocktail selection based on the menu online. I am so glad I did and will be adding this to my rotation. I got lucky since they still had st pattys specials. I love scotch eggs and a good potato leek soup. Everyone was super attentive and friendly and they checked in on me regularly. I've never been a big pub person but they do it well with lots of spaces. I managed to get a table by the window so it was a smidge more quiet. The place was pretty packed by 7. I can't believe I've skipped this spot so many times. Sometimes your girl just needs to put away her champagne and touch some grass lol. I enjoyed it so much I came can the next day. I'm a creature of habit and I love good food so this will be part of my rotation. So glad I ventured out! The drinks are strong and heavy with a pretty good draft selection as well. Potato leek soup: so good I ordered it 2 days in a row. Asked for no sour cream dollop the second time. Scotch eggs: not easy to find and my goodness so delicious. The only time a scotch egg is bad is if the egg is overcooked. Not here! Calamari: i juicy and tender chunky pieces mmmmmm. Reminds me of the calamari in Australia. Cottage pie: didn't do the shepherds pie since I generally don't eat lamb. Pretty much the same with cheese on top. I do want to take my part Irish hubby here since I've never had shepherds pie made with lamb, even in Australia it was made with beef. The only dessert option is bread pudding so I skipped. But I will try it on a day I'm not too stuffed, which might be pretty hard with the portion sizes! Yummy food that's more than abundant in portion size, and a big enough variety to suit most palates. Drinks are equally big and tasty. Wonderful friendly attentive staff with the biggest smiles. What more can you want? See you next time!

The food and drinks, however, were a little bit of a let down. -Margarita: 3/5. Didn't taste the tequila and was too tart. -Paloma: 5/5. Still great with the fresh grapefruit. -Calamari: 6/5. Still outstanding. HUGE portion of sliced calamari steak perfectly cooked with a horseradish forward cocktail sauce (love) and tartar sauce. So big was our shared appetizer AND my entree. -Classic Burger: 4/5. Sadly the burger was overcooked this time and so was dry. -Home-cut Fries: 7/5. OMG. These fries are outstanding and truly addictive. I will go back just to get these and make sure I can take the extras home bc again the portion is HUGE! Macduffs is rated high for a reason. Do yourself a favor and give them a try as soon as you can. We will def go back!
