He completely ignored me and walked off. Now, I don't expect anything whatsoever for my very very very very distant Elvis relation. But, it's sometimes a talking point. A little hideaway. I've been there over the years and a couple owners now. Elvis is hammering good bands and great beer! The venue is much larger than it looks like from the outside and friendly for both real locals and sacto alike. He's shorthanded and I think pretty stressed out at times. Someone with some capital could make this a real gold mine. I dropped by after doing some work in the mountains and it was jumping with some Chili peppers and Pearl Jam. This is a fantastic place to have great beer and watch local towns or even get up on the stage and noodle with your guitar. Some great players get on that stage every other Thursday night and it's just a great place to be. I'll be there tonight to have some fun. Love this place! We stumbled upon this cute no so little place about a year ago while on our of our many trips to meander around the area. I was impressed with their selection of local brews, snacks and bottle shop. We have been here a handful of times to get snacks for our journeys around the area and I've always appreciated their selection. The prices are reasonable and everything is fresh. The customer service experience has always been grate, everyone is so helpful and friendly. When we have questions they're always very knowledgeable and they always have great suggestions. I also love how passionate they are about beer and especially local beer. I love that they always have something new so every time you come in, it is a new experience. I was here for an event last weekend and it was the first time I had stayed on enjoy the band. The Slade Rivers band was a lot of fun and I appreciated seeing how many locals came to hang out. Went in with my wife looking forward to checking the place out and having a few beers. Was in a great mood as I love oldies music and beer. Was looking forward to meeting a bartender that dressed like Elvis. He must have a neat back story and be a personality, wearing a Pompadour, styling and profiling the King right? Came in singing with a great oldie being played, enthusiastically gave a friendly greeting. Instant downer. Barely a forced reply from Elvis. Instant feeling of hostility and or animosity focused on us. We seated ourselves and waited for a greeting and to order for several minutes. Elvis was seated at the opposite end of the bar watching TV, we looked over to ask about ordering he looked at us with intense negativity and animosity and turned his back. It was very obvious we were not welcome and I didn't want to escalate the negativity by asking him anything and I felt we better leave as we were going to be kicked out anyway. We probably bothered him by interrupting his TV show. Lol. Won't ever go back. Don't see him being in business much longer if this is standard procedure. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! While touring areas for homes it was at this exact moment we realized my husband would be forever happy in Sutter Creek. We've thoroughly enjoyed frequenting Provisions for the last two years. They've got an incredible beer shop, really nice staff, a fun bar with a relaxing / welcoming vibe, unique weekly food options, and great music. This is such a for this small town. In addition to the consistently great service and beers we've been thoroughly impressed by their business during the Pandemic. My review of Provisions is long, long overdue. Sometimes the best places slip through the proverbial review cracks, so I'll make up for that right now. Provisions is a highlight and a must visit when you pass through this sleepy and picturesque little gold town. Not only do they have the provisions in their name, they have excellent dine in offerings, a great selection of local beers on tap and quite often some quality live local music. I've had everything from charcuterie boards to sandwiches here. the food is always excellent and the menu changes seasonally. WHat I love the most is just sitting near the bar, nursing a beer and listening to some live jams. The owners are so friendly, the patrons the same. The space is large, historic and beautifully renovated to highlight that god rush rustic feel. plus it's very cool in there if you seek a respite from hot summer days. One half is devoted to the drinking and merriment and the other is the actual provisions store. Everything on the shelves is thoughtfully selected and well worth considering for purchase. I've bought everything from snacks to honey to little trinkets and have gotten many a comment as to where I would find such things. The answer? Staying in Sutter Creek and looking for a drink after dark? Sorry this place is rarely open. It's a hipster bar that caters to tourists when they decide to open. They invite out of town bands that appeal to the owners wishes to become known as a crooner himself. The type of owners to black ball someone who speaks up on their behavior. 100%. Sad thing is the space itself is large (2 rooms) and historically beautiful. Although, while there is potential the owners would rather do "their own thing" offering sporadic food and entertainment. This place is great & has a TON of potential. I used to live in Sutter Creek & got the hell out because there is nothing there for a 20 something (at the time) to do! Well, that has changed, or I should say is changing. I am glad I was in town today to visit a friend and she suggested coming here. There are 2 parts to Sutter Creek Provisions. The first is a specialty grocery store. Cheeses (and we all know how much I LOVE cheese), meats, bread, crackers, spread, wine, beer, bloody mary mix - from Preservation & Co. here in Sac! Their selection is pretty f-ing amazing & diverse for Sutter Creek. The second area is a bar. We got some sandwiches and ate in the bar area. It is a very welcoming, well decorated bar. It has an old rustic, but modern look. Not a trashy country bar, which I have been to & is what I would expect in Amador County. There is a cute little stage in the corner, which will probably be host to mostly country bands given the area - I am not a fan of country in case you can't tell. However if I still lived here I would definitely be a regular. I was told they don't serve food after 6, which is a shame if that is the case. People want to have some snackies when they drink. You have a grocery store right there, utilize it! Their beer on tap today was an okay selection. Being about an hour away from Sacramento I was hoping to see some local beers. When I brought that up to the man behind the bar (he was possibly the owner) he said they had some Track 7 coming in, and he is meeting with Device, New Helvetia and Ruhstaller. YES! I told him how amazing New Helvetia's Naked Coffee Stout is and he said he liked Ruhstaller's The Sauce...now this guy knows his beer! I am happy that Sutter Creek is getting a place to enjoy some craft beers. LONG overdue! While it wouldn't be enough for me to move back to this small (charming) little town, I will have to make a point to visit my friends in the sticks more often!! Came to this place in order to buy lunch so I could use the bathroom. Public restrooms in Sutter Creek are hard to come by. So I got the chicken tacos and smoked beet salad. Oh Good Lord. Perfect balance of seasoning, texture, acid and fat. I went back and ordered tertela and an amazing smoked pork torta. All smoked in their beautiful smoker/pizza oven/pit bbq out back. I can't stress enough how good the food is here. Wonderfully friendly staff. If I still drank beer I would have been enthusiastic about their selection. How often do you stop into a place and find that the locals are rooting for it so much, they pitch in for free? Provisions is such a place. We live in Sutter Creek and work in the Bay Area. We come in several times a week and are always amazed that the beer selection changes almost daily. We offer to help clear tables but are beaten to it by our neighbors. The owners, Darin and Casey, are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their wares (craft beers and specialty groceries) that navigating the variety is a breeze. Sutter Creek is a great little town with big character and a lot of places to explore. Come in to Provisions, grab a beer, peruse the cheeses and meats (our favorite combo is Midnight Moon cheese and a fennel salami), and find a booth or table. Excellent excellent food! Went to Cavanna's for late lunch with family on a Saturday. Their website and Yelp page did not indicate it but they close from 3-4:30pm. Everyone was hungry and I was panicked. Found Sutter Creek Provisions was open. Went there and took a look at menu. At first glance, such a small menu put me off. As I was walking out a couple was leaving and they told me give it a try, the food is very good. Boy were they right! We ordered pulled pork sandwich, dumplings, tamales and beet salad. Everything was delicious! I was so impressed. You could tell that a chef worked the magic in the kitchen and not a "cook." Food rivaled some of my fav restaurants in SF and NYC. read more

First time there..welcomed to do a beer tasting, after asking to try a second beer (mind you just enough to cover the bottom of the shot glass) a red-bearded very rude worker came up saying "you are all over the map, we are not a beer tasting room" hubby and I were caught off guard by his unprofessional tone and unwelcoming attitude towards new faces... we decided to buy a glass each anyway (regret it now) and an appetizer and sat down. Spent a good 30 minutes there, no one came to check on us or see how we were doing, only company was the many fruit flies buzzing around. We are locals and plan to spread our experience around. Been following this business since peering thru the dusty windows of the vacant space and imagining the possibilities to visiting it a couple of times after it opened and having a chance to personally compliment the owners over beers at the tasting bar. SCP offers a great assortment of specialty food and drink items in a fantastic gold-rush era space. It was my new favorite place and I planned to stop in every time I visited Sutter Creek. A year or so later, I've got a beef, and I write this not to slam the business but in the hopes that the owners will clue in on something they're doing that I don't think they intend to. If you wander into the bar area before 2:00 pm, you'll likely be told that it doesn't open until 2:00 but you can buy a bottle of beer from a cooler and additional charges will apply if you decide to consume it onsite. Or you can just come back at 2:00.... The net effect is that you feel like you've just been shooed out of a business that you really wanted to support. That it would be better for you to find another establishment in town that doesn't find it inconvenient to serve customers at noon. The food I was planning to buy went back on the shelf and I didn't come back at 2:00. I was initially bent out of shape but knowing the owners to be nice people, want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have to assume there's some business reason behind bar hours that have them turning away customers, but would suggest that some signage, an explanation, or at least an apologetic tone would help to ensure that people don't walk away feeling like they've committed some offense or inconvenience. read more

If you want a great beer, this is the place to go! I have tried one of the IPA sours and and a dark stout with bourbon. Can't say enough good things about either! The atmosphere is also fun and they play live music on Sundays and throughout the week. Fun place to hangout with friends and if you go in on a Sunday afternoon they even have board games for adults or kids. read more

Not perfect of course, but what a great idea for a new one of a kind local business. It's clear from all the buzz that it fills some gaps in Sutter Creek and is off to a great start. My partner's a beer lover, and he was impressed with the selection and interactions of the barkeep who is very friendly and talkative, if not 100% accurate. I liked the gourmet deli foods and the elbow room and atmosphere that they have created in both the shop and the bar, though some of the food prices are a bit outlandish. They need a good sound system to be a good music venue. It's loud and the sound quality is poor in the bar area where groups perform. Still, it's a great start (both the PO and MO) and I do sincerely hope they can keep it up for the long haul. I know what a grind this type of business can be. Best of luck to SCP. Hope they invest in a good sound system, and some more varied and reasonably priced food options for on-site consumption. This isn't Beverly Hills. I absolutely love the character of this place the beer is just wonderful and staff is alright not a fan of standing in lines for beer and having kids running around in my adult space! I could totally do without those things. It's a little spot to try some good beer and even take some home! Dont come in hungry tho just snack type food choices where slim but that could change so check into that before you come I've seen different menus. My family has a cabin up in the Sutter Creek area and downtown is a quick jaunt down the road. I was headed up for a quick day trip with some lady friends and popped into Sutter Creek Provisions on a whim. The downtown area seems to be having a bit of a resurgence as there are lots of hip new spots to dine and drink at. Sutter Creek Provisions is definitely a cool little place. There's a tap room with a pretty good selection of beers, and a gift/bottle shop to the other side where you can purchase food, beer, trinkets and the like.
