Beautiful renovated guest bathroom

The food here at Hotel Leger was delicious! We had smoked brisket nachos, salmon bacon tacos and smoked tri tip tacos. The service was excellent, very friendly! We sat outside on the patio enjoying our meal and it was peaceful and relaxing. We highly recommend Hotel Leger and we will be back.

Originally saw it on Ghost Adventures and decided to come eat here. The food was good, we got balsamic chicken as an appetizer and I got the Léger burger as a main course. I would have ordered dessert but was full. The atmosphere was so charming, overall it was a good experience

Portabello sandwich with tater tots with pesto sauce, tri tip sandwich with sidwinder fries and chicken pasta with marina sauce.

We had dinner here for the first time since Covid and it was FABULOUS! Great service and amazing food. WE WILL BE BACK OFTEN!

This place is AMAZING!!! I have stayed here several times over the past decade. Its decor and furniture are mostly historic, even has creaky floors!!! I really like that there are no tv or phones in the rooms. Some rooms have access to the balcony where you can sit and read a book or enjoy an amazing sunset. The courtyard is beautiful and has a lovely pool that is never crowded. Each room here is unique so you can stay in a different room each time you visit!!! I love this historical hotel; I loved it soooo much I had my wedding reception here in 2007. The staff at the Leger were wonderful and made my special day PERFECT!!!! The food was EXCELLENT. My guests had a really great time!!! This location is perfect, there are many things to do in the area and its only 15 minutes from Jackson. I highly recommend visiting Moaning Caverns where I had my wedding ceremony (Yes, I did rappel, no I wasn't wearing a wedding gown in the cave). The hotel has had some renovations, you can check them out on Hotel Impossible. For those who can't live without, yes they do have WiFi and yes, your cell phone (Verizon) will work here. The hotel is under new ownership. The new owners have been here for 7 months. They are super friendly and are committed to making sure you have a great stay!! Prices are reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend staying here!

As long as you know what to expect of this hotel, you will have a fine experience. We saw it on Ghost Adventures so decided to travel from Sacramento and check it out. The hotel is unfortunately dilapidated. It's too bad it's not better cared for because the bones and the history are awesome! It was clean enough - no bugs, nothing disgusting, had hot water. It's just very old, the bed was horribly uncomfortable and it was very noisy until late at night. No TV, no coffee maker. If you're ok with these things, then don't hesitate to stay here. We went for the experience, and now we won't have to do it again. :)

We found this place to be so charming. Its over 150 yrs old, so yes it has creaky floors and drafty windows and doors. It also has water stains from past leaks on the ceiling and peeling paint due to the lack of a vent fan in the bathroom, but that's what you deal with in order to keep the charm of such an old building. We were pleased with the staff, cleanliness, and the pet friendly policy. We stayed in Room 1 with a working fireplace, patio access (through the window, how cool) and a private full bath. It was lovely. There was a continental breakfast served in the morning as well. So check this out, there were 2 other people staying there the same night doing a paranormal investigation. Um, what? Apparently the Ghost Hunters (the TV show) was there last week. So yea, I guess it's a haunted hotel. Boo!

Understaffed, poor service, food mediocre at best, left half of my meal, WAY overpriced. Won't eat there again.

This takes me to the small community of Mokelumne Hill (which is in Calaveras County) where I got to check out "Renegade Winery". Don't let the word "winery" fool you as this place not only serves some delicious wine but is also a full-on restaurant that has some good old standard American food. Since I know this area quite well and have been to neighboring areas such as Jackson and San Andreas, finding this place wasn't too difficult. But for some, it might be a challenge. When arriving on Highway 49 (from Jackson), you have the option of making a left on Campo Seco Turnpike OR a left on Main Street. The business is directly at the corner of Main & Center St's while being across the street from the historic I.O.O.F. building which neighbors a blacksmith business. If you're into ancient structures, definitely check this place out. Going back to Renegade Winery, they offer a variety of red and whites from nearby Amador County. In addition to their wine selection, they also have beer and regular soft drinks for consumption. But the main reason why we came here was their food! This includes comfort classics such as bruschetta, a meat/cheese platter, and a few others. They also carry a nice selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Finally, I wanted to add that they even offer a brunch menu on the weekends including mimosas. My significant other and I split their pesto pasta w/garlic bread while our friends tried a quesadilla and Caesar salad. As far as the interior layout of this place, it almost has that old town saloon feel to it which is the perfect fit for the gold country. The amount of distressed wood is presented throughout while the large collection of wine bottles is quite impressive. The employees that work here definitely made us felt welcome as if we were in someone's home. I also wanted to add that the exterior seating area was equally impressive with an abundance of tables, hanging lights after the sun goes down, and even a small stage for live music. If it wasn't for the heat (it was around 100°F on 6/22/2024 at 3:45pm), we would probably eat outside. As far as our pasta, they give you huge portions and more than enough to feed 2 people comfortably. The pasta was cooked well while there was a nice amount of basil in the pesto. It wasn't over-the-top amazing that you'd find at an Italian restaurant in a big city but still quite delicious and affordable (at around $16). Even our friends' spicy quesadilla had 4 large slices that can be split between two. Considering that you get a mix of everything (winery, draft beer, and food), this place has you covered. All in all, "Renegade Winery" is a place that I highly recommend. Keep in mind that they are ONLY open for business Fri/Sat from 11:30am-8pm and Sun from 9am-4pm while being closed from Monday through Thursday. So if you're taking a trip up to Big Trees or maybe Twain Harte or even Yosemite National Park, this is a great stop with above average service and very decent prices. My rating, an above average four stars.

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.
