Shower

Nicely upgraded, modern rooms. Both the mattress and pillow were quite comfortable. And the shower was great - roomy and with good water pressure. New AC unit, HDTV, microwave, and mini fridge.

Celebrating on our private patio of our hotel suite. So tranquil and clean.

Only a few rooms are modern, others dated but still enjoyed my stay. Love the prime rib at restaurants, plus friendly service. Staff went over and beyond call of duty for us. Darlene at front desk is always helpful and patient! Love how this hotel is at the center of town. Plus creek and park behind hotel is added bonus. My kid loved playing in water at creek. As did I! So relaxing..

6 oz sirloin with a baked potato (upgrade).

What a dinner! My friends and I decided to get a nice dinner together and we were not disappoint! This historic and unique place had a touch of history and luxury. Our server was very nice and had a bit of humor as well. If you are from out of town, I would definitely recommend this place for dinner. There are also many areas for wine tasting and fun! I ordered the calamari for myself appetizer and I think it was one of the best calamari I have ever had. For my meal, I ordered the 6 oz sirloin - medium rare - and upgraded to a fully loaded baked potato. I highly recommend for everyone to check this place out! Will I be back, YES!

Spring salad. Delicious.

TASTY OR WASTEY? Absolutely tasty!!! Took a drive to Murphy's. By the time we got there, we we're so hungry. We walked into the quaint little hotel, and were seated outdoors on the patio. We had the summer greens salad (AMAZING) the best salad I've had in a long time. And, I eat salad at least 3xs a week. We shared the French dip, which was a perfect size for an early lunch. What a hidden gem. I would definitely drive back just for the salad. Our waitress was very nice, and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

During our travels we had seen this place before. Well on this trip we made a point to stay here. The staff was super friendly. I had called ahead reserved a room. They were very accommodating. I had a small dog no problem staying in the historic inn. The rooms were reasonably priced. They were well decorated clean, with nice bathing area. We had a small balcony off of our room and they brought us chairs to sit out there. The restaurant which is attached has excellent food, the bar is nice and our visit was one of the best times we have ever had. So please do try and plan your stay I know you'll love it.

Stopped off here before heading home. Had a couple bloody Mary's and tomato beers. Football game was on and is a cool place to hang out. This is our go-to when we visit Murphys.

Be advised. This is a very old historic hotel. A lot of the amenities are as they were back in the day. We knew this, and had no problem with it. We had a great time just hanging out on the Main Street, having drinks and dinner within walking distance. Shower and toilet are down the hall, on the right!

Terrible resturant service. Never ate because of the bad communication with the hostess. Will never go back there.

Right next to the hotel is a gas station, and a short distance away a supermarket, so quite convenient. I don't like the room though. While it's spacious, its doesn't have enough light, so the room feels drab and run down. I'd also like more outlets for charging things. I booked this hotel over others because it has a sauna. I did get to enjoy it, it's open from 10am-9pm something like that, so check the time first. It's on the far left of the first floor where the gym is. As for breakfast... it's two small boxes of orange juice, with some mini donuts and frozen burrito. Yes they gave us the burrito in its wrapper on the tray by our door, so we can microwave it ourselves. The donuts are okay, it's made fresh in house, but I usually opt for something healthier for my first meal of the day. Seriously this is definitely the worst breakfast offered in a hotel. They may as well just not offer it. Thankfully they have a fridge and microwave, and a nice supermarket nearly, as the bakery in downtown isn't open daily. Also the Mexican place up the street is open for breakfast too, should you prefer a freshly made breakfast burrito.

A very comfortable and quiet little cottage. Although, the bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower. There are no tvs in the cottages and the WiFi is a little dodgy. Cell phone reception isn't the best either. I think what I am getting at is that you can really disconnect when you say at La Honda Park. You are forced to communicate with your loved ones. The cottages are only equipped with a microwave. If you want to cook something more robust, there is a communal kitchen in the pool house. Believe me, it has everything you need. Also, there are bbqs in just about every common area. Aside from the beautiful grounds and comfortable accommodations, there is the barn. The barn is probably the best part about this place. It has a foosball table, a pool table, poker table, dart board, and a tv. The back doors slide open to a small seating area overlooking Angel Creek. I can't describe it. You just need to experience. The owner are Jenn and Barr. They were so nice. Once we checked in, they left us alone. In fact, they left the property. Besides my family, there was another family staying in the Main House. They were very nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back and sit next to the creek and drink my morning coffee.

A gaggle of girlfriends rented three cottages here, as three of us were celebrating our 40th/41st birthdays. The perfect "home base" for staging an attack upon Murphys downtown shopping, dining and wine tasting establishments, or as a leap-off point for local hikes and the gorgeous Moaning and Mercer Caverns. Each cottage is appointed with a gas-fueled faux wood-stove fireplace (easy operation via thermostat), fridge, micro, coffee maker, basic silverware/plates/cups, wonderful showers (great for power-washing off the mud and sweat after a day of rappelling and spelunking!) and extremely comfortable queen beds. Each cottage has its own character, giving the feel of the kind of decor a favorite aunt might select for your family's personal mountain cabin. Extremely clean and comfortable! Hang out by the fire, or chill out on your own front porch overlooking the lawn and creek. Or... ...head over to The Barn, a communal recreation room appointed with an air-hockey table, pool table, kitchen area (including a wine fridge!) and big-screen satellite TV/sat radio. The Barn was recently remodeled, using reclaimed barnwood, corrugated metal (for the ceiling sub-roof) and a pretty brilliant wallcovering that looks like warm old plaster, but is actually recycled craft paper and some sort of natural varnish. Cool! Also, a few relics from the region's mining days. There are board games, darts, books and other stuff to keep the individual, family or small group entertained. There's a large swimming pool (unheated in winter) and a small wading pool adjacent to another community kitchen and outdoor picnic area, and the only thing this area lacks is a hot tub. (Hint, hint!) Finally, there's Cosmo, the biggest, sweetest cat you'll ever want to kidnap. He's not allowed in the cabins, but he'll happily keep you company as you read a book on the porch, or wander up to the beautiful waterfalls behind the barn. He'll also keep score if you want to use the bocce court or horseshoe pits! Parking is limited, so don't expect to haul in ATV trailers or your RVs, but that's about the only con to this wonderful little family-run resort!

Between the challenge with checking in and getting a room at 3p on a Wednesday, to the permeating smell of weed in the hallways (and I'm not anti weed at all, but it's really strong), to the obvious aging of the fixtures, to the unsecured back door (had to move in the middle of the night as apparently the easiest way in is to open the deadbolt on the back door and let it bang on the doorframe which bounces like a small earthquake to the rooms above) bc of one of the worker's boyfriends needs easy access (??) to the inability to request towels upon day 3 bc "there's other people checking in and we need to supply the rooms" .. it's just kind of a mess. I will say that after I asked about the deadbolt door banging/room rattling issue I was somewhat easily moved to another room in the middle of the night by an individual who acted surprised that this was happening but come to find out it sounds like it was her boyfriend needing access to the motel... I don't want to support Airbnb but after this experience I probably will. I really wanted to be ok with this place but after 72 hours of being here I wish I stayed elsewhere. You literally get what you pay for here so you've been forewarned. The word *motel* gives it away.

We were looking for a safe and fun place for a family reunion. Somewhere I could actually bring all of our extended family.. Karl, our host disappeared after showing us all the amenities. He lives nearby and showed up swiftly when I had trouble lighting a fire in the living room. We had 6 kids that had their own suite area away from the adults. Thankfully there was wifi internet for them when they tired of playing outside. We had such a stellar time there at the historical wild west Avery hotel with no one looking over our shoulders ;) The big trees nearby were awesome too. My skiing fam hit the mountains not far away. It just feels like you stepped back in time and we really enjoyed that. Carl and all the staff connected with Avery Hotel have been nothing but accommodating to us. They were always willing to listen to any questions we had and were always checking in along the way. The freedom of the venue really pulls you in because it offered that blank canvas of possibilities and that is what we wanted because I love a challenge and had a very clear image of how I wanted my wedding to look like. They have extra decorations for you to use, endless linens, all shapes/sizes of plates, cups and bowls. You do need to clean up after yourself but that's the easy part. Again, thank you Carl and staff for a beautiful and memorable venue.
