Our stay at the Motel was great, the rooms are clean, comfortable bed and location is walking distance to town. What made this stay more enjoyable was the staff, they were so helpful they went above and beyond anything that would have been expected. Stay somewhere else if you can. I come from a small town and want to support small town businesses but this place is struggling. Between the challenge with checking in and getting a room at 3p on a Wednesday, to the permeating smell of weed in the hallways (and I'm not anti weed at all, but it's really strong), to the obvious aging of the fixtures, to the unsecured back door (had to move in the middle of the night as apparently the easiest way in is to open the deadbolt on the back door and let it bang on the doorframe which bounces like a small earthquake to the rooms above) bc of one of the worker's boyfriends needs easy access (??) to the inability to request towels upon day 3 bc "there's other people checking in and we need to supply the rooms" .. it's just kind of a mess. I will say that after I asked about the deadbolt door banging/room rattling issue I was somewhat easily moved to another room in the middle of the night by an individual who acted surprised that this was happening but come to find out it sounds like it was her boyfriend needing access to the motel... I don't want to support Airbnb but after this experience I probably will. I really wanted to be ok with this place but after 72 hours of being here I wish I stayed elsewhere. You literally get what you pay for here so you've been forewarned. The word *motel* gives it away. read more

I adore this little town! My son was getting married at Ironstone Vineyards and money was getting tight. I looked everywhere for a place to stay for 2 nights and was happy to come across Murphys Inn. The rooms were clean, the mattress was comfortable and the shower was hot! The reception area had an odor that crept upstairs (no elevator btw), mixed with smoking just outside (reason for 4 stars inside of 5). The carpet seems old and dated (probably holds many odors). The price wasn't bad and the location was good- next to the highway- but traffic didn't seem too bad! All in all, I would recommend! *The diner next door is good!! read more

We booked our motel room just a few hours before check in. The front staff was surprised, especially considering they had a completely full weekend but the were able to immediately (and early then check in) provide us with a room. They did notify us that the toiletries shipment was late and after a full weekend they were out of soap but that they would have some for us soon. No problem! 3 hours later we had soap! The motel is older but super clean, neat and safe and also a great location for walking around town and getting some dinner. The beds are extremely comfortable. The rooms are immaculate and cozy. And as a plus, they were super accommodating to my service dog. We will definitely be staying here again. read more

This is for owner to note Mr. H. just spent 5 days, 4 nights. I made a wonderful choice to stay for my fishing adventure. The manger's name I forget Sharon ? and helper Tina were wonderful. So helpful from the time I checked in to my later check out. Daily checking up on my stay, anything I need. Helping with luggage in and out, I felt very special. I stayed one night and about an hour after going to bed started itching. I woke up to being totally covered in BED BUG BITES which are incredibly itchy and sore, I'm miserable! First visit at Murphys Inn Motel - smooth check-in experience with super friendly front desk clerk. Plenty of parking. Overall - common areas are clean but there's a bit of dust on light fixtures and the automatic sliding front door was not functioning properly. The room was very clean, the bed was immaculate with multiple clean mattress pads and a cover that fully encases the mattress. Some furnishings were a bit shabby: at least two lampshades featured peekaboo plastic liners with great jagged boots missing (obvious when the lights are turned on), the upholstered chairs had some mysterious stains. The toiletries (shampoo and conditioner) appeared partially used and there were only a few tissues in the box. There is some noise from guests overhead but noises from the road not too bad, barely noticeable. Overall a fairly restful night and I plan to stay here again. read more

I just checked in at Murphy's motel couldn't check in until after three and when I came back after my family dinner, the TV does not have all channels their kids running around upstairs in the room above me there's no refund the services are terrible here the pool is empty And the girl at the front desk doesn't know who owns the building are they lodge and you can't get a hold of it on the 800 number or you can't get the Wi-Fi website I would not recommend this place to anyone in the Murphy's area. Dirty bedding, missing smoke detector, out door lock broken with exposed wires, soap/shampoo/conditioner smaller than my thumb, room smells like urine, don't go near the pool.... I booked two rooms over a month in advance, two days later I called to change one of the rooms from a king to 2 queens. On check in date the "owner" claims to have no record of the change request. I provided the ticket number and he still says he can't do anything. (Walking through the parking lot at 8pm, there are clearly 2 double queen rooms unoccupied on the lower level and a bright vacancy sign in the window). The owner refused to provide a refund of my prepaid $838. I had a wonderful experience in 2022 and 2023 at this hotel. I'm so disappointed with the change in ownership. I gave this hotel 2 stars and the 2 stars is for its good location. My friend and I arrived at the hotel at around 4 PM. There was no one at the front desk to check us in. We called both phone numbers that were on a note on the front desk and both calls went directly to voice mail. After several minutes of waiting, I heard that someone is cleaning one of the rooms. I asked the person if he could call someone to check us in. He said he could try to check us in which he did. When we entered the assigned room, we noticed that the room has not been cleaned and the beds were not made. We went back to him and asked for another room. He gave us another room and although the second room appeared to have been cleaned, the pillows did not have pillow cases. Beds are saggy. The curtain rod fell on me when I tried to move the curtain. There was decaffeinated coffee only and coffee maker looks like it's on its last leg. Overall, we did not have a pleasant experience at this hotel. read more

What do you expect at a hotel? Last minute, we booked a night here for a wedding in town. The lady on the phone was so nice and polite! Sent me an email of confirmation right away! We got lucky, the room was ready for us to check in st 1 pm. Clean room, warm water, small TV, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker too! Late March weekend for $165 a night (tax included), while everything else around Murphys was sold out or twice as much! Much better than what we expected! Second floor room (no elevator though), the room has thin wall so you will hear some noises, but if turns the heater on! We slept through everything! Walk thru the Main Street for all the activities, shops, restaurants and wines tasting! Good service, fair price, and clean room! read more

Do NOT stay here! Unfortunately there were so many things that went wrong with my stay but this took it over the edge. The final straw occurred as we were packing to leave, I noticed some used earplugs on the nightstand. I turned to my friend and said, don't forget your earplugs. Her reply was they DON'T BELONG TO ME, I FOUND THEM IN MY BED LAST NIGHT!!!! This was truly horrifying and disgusting; clearly the bedding had not been changed or washed after the previous guests left, and we slept on dirty linens. This is UNACCEPTABLE so I wrote to the owner Ramesh Patel. Its been almost a month and I haven't hear back from him. So now I am letting others know what happened. read more

Here is my list of (as well as many other guests) complaints: -Noisy at night from nearby road -Thin walls, could here people above and next door at all hours -I didn't feel very comfortable with the cleanliness (glad I had slippers) -The front desk staff was out taking a break at the pool (kinda odd) -No office staff in evening/early morning??? (made me feel very uneasy) The Owner Raj does not care about customer service whatsoever, so good luck if there are any issues. Raj was in India for several weeks and even after he returned never returned any of my several messages via phone and email regarding a ~$300 overcharge. I was told by office staff that he had no intentions of refunding the amount I was overcharged. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere to avoid a HUGE headache. read more

Spent one night at Murphy's Inn. Would I stay at this inn again, probably not. The positives are that the motel is relatively clean, reasonably up to date, the staff if friendly and the beds are comfortable. It's the details that make the difference. In room coffee pot was missing the piece that holds the coffee packet making the unit inoperable. Ice machine not working and there is only one unit for a two floor motel. Had to get management to the room to fix the TV. The motel is located on a corner, with highway 4 on side and the main exit to murphy's on the other side. If you are in the front rooms of the motel you have traffic noise. Kept my wife awake. Our room was on the first floor and you could easily hear people moving around on second floor unit above us. read more

When the bloody issue in the shower was brought toi the staff's attention, and they were also informed that the three of us didn't get to take showers, I was told " i am sorry". No mention of, what can we do to make this right. Poor management, poor housekeeping. Along with their attitude we found a prescription bottle with medication in our room. Carpets are dirty in our room and throughout the halls. Do they ever clean this place? I wanted to help bring the place up an make it relevant in the community again but the employer the Patel's insist on having a meth head run all of the hotels for them. I tried to make a handbook so everybody was going by the same rules because there's no discipline or consistency at any of the properties and all I was met with was a spun out Shannon on a control trip going into the folder and binder I had just made and defacing it with sharpie going ha ha lol this is a waste of time and money when the owners told me not even 24 hours before she did that it was a good idea so the employees could be on the same page but at the end of the day I had to quit and Shannon is still spun out on meth running all of the hotels as she wishes. ......Oh yeah and if you lose anything at the hotel Shannon gets first dibs to take it if she doesn't want it then you might get it back. And they won't mail it to you unless you pay them. Just A horrible place to work and I would never want to stay there as a guest the housekeeping people are atrocious there are only two people at the Murphys location that are trying their best and I feel sorry for them they deserve better working conditions. read more

On a day trip to The Big Trees from Sacramento we found ourselves pretty tired and didn't want to continue driving home to Bakersfield. On a whim we pulled into this cute little inn. My sister went in to secure the room and through the window she gave me the thumbs up. When she returned to the car she was smiling and said "that lady in there is soooo nice". She then proceeded to tell me how Kim(the woman checking us in) took her to the room to make sure it was good enough. Kim also told her about the pool and where extra towels, blankets, coffee and teas were located. We went to get food at Murphy's pizza which was recommended. Came back to the Murphy's inn and Kim greeted us. She noticed our hands full and said " let me get your door your hands are full". We thought something was wrong with our fridge in our room. Called and talked to Kim, she let us know that it should work but if it doesn't they would switch us to a room with one that works. However, we just needed to the switch on. Overall, Kim you were fantastic and went out of your way to make us comfortable. We definitely would stay here again and recommend it. read more

Stayed here to attend a concert. The rooms were in the 300 dollar range. Very clean. Service was good. Provided a ride to Ironstone for a small fee. The blow dryer didn't work. When I asked to have a new blow dryer they could not provide one. Instead...they took me to another room to use one. read more

I had a good stay. The room was very comfortable, clean and safe. The front desk person was very nice, but her unkempt attire and tattoos on her knuckles made her look a little sketchy; same with her 2 male friends who were chatting her up in the hall while she worked-They gave off the same sketchy vibe. She also told me that using the wifi was touch and go- that sometimes it was working and sometimes it wasn't. This didn't really affect me, however, as I watched tv for much of the night and then went to sleep. Overall: a good stay read more

It had a full size tub, beds are comfy and the place is well kept and quiet. The price is low might make you second guess that it won't be a decent place. The location was good, short walk into town and wine tasting. However, the property was not so good. When we entered the room we noticed right away a dank odor trying to be covered up with the strong smell of bleach. We opened the windows and tried to air it out. When I entered the bathroom I noticed right away that there was water damage and black mold in the ceiling above the shower. I alerted the front desk and also showed him pictures, his response was he would notify maintenance. We were not offered a new room, we never saw maintenance and they charged us full price. On another note, the mattress was extremely worn and thin and the pillows were about 2 inches thick. When I requested new pillows they were replaced with additional 2 inch thick pillows.... Very disappointing stay, as well as a health hazard. I would not recommend this property for anyone staying in beautiful Murphys, Ca. read more

Murphy's Inn has been nothing but 5 stars. I arrived late and completely exhausted from a week of intense hiking/backpacking. Friendly staff that recognized my late check in and gave me a later check out. The rooms were quite spacious & most importantly very clean. I can't ask for anything more from a hotel. If I'm ever in this area and need a place to stay, I know where I will be going. read more

For just getting out of the house and running away for the night we were able to get a place here. the gentleman at the front desk is very nice and courteous , but the hotel itself needs a big big makeover there is dust and crud everywhere or you can tell the cleaning people do not clean or sweep or vacuum there's something splashed all over the front of the TV , but if it was just cleaned with new lamp shades and updated it would be a good hotel but right now for the price of $188 heck no not worth it at all. read more

Nothing fancy but rooms were better than ok'd Murphys hotel but not as good as Murphys suites. Location is great. Has a pool which is a plus. Staff super accommodating although we did want to talk to the manager to see if we could work out staying for the week after our air bnb issue. We never did see or hear from the manager but the other staff was super kind although didn't have the authority to authorize anything like matching the price on a booking site. Rooms were clean but some maintenance is needed as there was mildew in the bathroom ceiling. The mini fridge was helpful. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. For the price and last minute it was worth it for a weekday rate. In a weekend when prices go up quite a bit, I'd prefer Murphys suites but we enjoyed our short stay here and it got the job done for sure. The location also makes everything walkable which is great. read more
