The hotel is located a little off the downtown area, walkable, but we opted to drive a few minutes as parking is easy enough. Right next to the hotel is a gas station, and a short distance away a supermarket, so quite convenient. I don't like the room though. While it's spacious, its doesn't have enough light, so the room feels drab and run down. I'd also like more outlets for charging things. I booked this hotel over others because it has a sauna. I did get to enjoy it, it's open from 10am-9pm something like that, so check the time first. It's on the far left of the first floor where the gym is. As for breakfast... it's two small boxes of orange juice, with some mini donuts and frozen burrito. Yes they gave us the burrito in its wrapper on the tray by our door, so we can microwave it ourselves. The donuts are okay, it's made fresh in house, but I usually opt for something healthier for my first meal of the day. Seriously this is definitely the worst breakfast offered in a hotel. They may as well just not offer it. Thankfully they have a fridge and microwave, and a nice supermarket nearly, as the bakery in downtown isn't open daily. Also the Mexican place up the street is open for breakfast too, should you prefer a freshly made breakfast burrito. read more

This is a nice hotel, maybe the carpet and couch is a bit outdated but really comfy. I love the location can walk to downtown if you plan to have a few drinks and they give ice cream cones at the front desk that are phenomenal! The pool and spa are clean and very nice and the room it self is clean the only negative thing that somewhat ruined it for me is the bath towels and pool towels, despite what this business might think it's a pretty important detail I feel they over looked please please get some better towels and you would be the best hotel around! That being said I do recommend this hotel but would say bring your own towels. read more

We were able to book our room last minute. The lady who helped us at the front desk was extremely friendly and polite! Due to lack of staff, they don't offer breakfast, except for mini donuts and El Monterey frozen burritos. We didn't try them, but at least they offered something since they are understaffed. Front desk also has soft serve ice cream and fresh brewed coffee. Our room was spacious and clean! The bathroom has a nice exhaust fan, a heat lamp and a powerful shower nozzle. The bath towels and poop towels are pretty small, though. TV screen was pretty blurry. They have a nice sauna. Exercise room had a bike, treadmill and two five pound weights. Pool was a nice temperature and the spa had nice jets. Next time we are in the area, we will stay here again. read more

It's a clean, if a bit run down, hotel. I had a suite all to myself which had a sofa-bed in the first room that looked like it was about 100 years old: very worn, sagging and not something I'd want to pull out for a good night's sleep. The bed was shockingly aged with spring coils sticking up and making it a bit uncomfortable. The TV was upgraded to a flat screen at some point - but they didn't bother to take out the 1980s tv furniture quite yet. The wet bar was a weird combination of long counter with bathroom sink (making it difficult to fill water bottles) plus coffee maker, microwave and fridge (which was off when I arrived). The staff were all super friendly and responsive. I look forward to visiting Murphys again after they've improved the furnishings. read more

Bitter Suite Came up for a quick overnight vacation and booked a room here thru Southwest.com (i.e., booking.com) for $250 (normally $180, but I paid extra for 5k SW points) for a two queen room. The Good: *Great location only a few miles from DT Murphys and a gas station/liquor store right next door. *WiFi didn't test great speed-wise but was reliable and didn't break connection. *Complimentary Breakfast Burrito and fresh-made mini donuts (available in cinnamon-sugar, plain and powdered sugar). *Fast and efficient check-in *Vending machine that had decent prices *Ice machine (while this seems like a no-brainer, we've stayed in places recently that didn't have one). *Fitness center, spa and pool (didn't use can't comment) *Fridge and microwave in-room *Recently renovated rooms, but you can tell they only did certain things and not a total remodel. *Mattresses were a bit firm for our liking, but despite that, I actually slept pretty well. The Meh: *Complimentary breakfast of frozen breakfast burrito and "housemade" mini donuts was kind of a joke. The burrito was awful; Carissa took one bite and threw it out. The donuts, however, were actually decent, but I'm not sold on them being "homemade." *43" Westinghouse® HDTV, which is a bit small for the room and the signal (satellite?) was terrible. Hardly HD quality *No guide available on the TV so practically impossible to figure out what to watch without channel surfing. Also, a real PiTa to figure out the channels themselves. *Concierge was friendly enough but a kind of weirdt; hard to put my finger on it but just had a weird vibe to him. *In-room coffee is awful (Maxwell House®) so be prepared. They do have coffee available in the lobby, but they keep it behind the counter, and I'm up at ungodly hours and don't want to be a bother. *Soft-serve ice cream in the lobby. I saw the machine, but they didn't put the sign up until the following morning??? I assumed it was non-operational. :'( It would've been nice if the Concierge pointed this out upon check-in, but like I said, he was a bit weirdt. *Carpet in the rooms is kind of gross. Don't be like me and forget your chanclas at home. :-/ *Not Pet-friendly The Ugly: *Super stingy with the soap and shampoo. Gave us 2T of shampoo and one 2" diameter bar of soap to use for both the bath and sink. We stayed at Murphys Suites when we visited Big Trees. Upon checking in, we discovered that we could receive a frozen breakfast burrito or some homemade mini donuts for breakfast. I had the former, my friend had the latter. It was an El Monterey breakfast burrito. I wasn't that disappointed because I wasn't expecting breakfast. I tried one of the donuts. It was good but not off the scale good. Orange juice came in a 4 ounce carton. It reminded me of elementary school. The room was quiet, pretty spacious, and clean. But due to COVID they weren't servicing the room daily. I though the public health emergency was over? I liked having two sinks in the junior suites. It's really useful when two people share a room. The clock in the room was totally off, not by a few hours but by hours and minutes. I had to google the instructions for the clock to reset it. My only nitpicks were that the rooms could have used more available power outlets, and there was no channel guide for the TV. I had to use Zap2it (wifi worked really well) to look up what was on which channel. read more

We paid over $250 for a room/suite for one night that smelled like a Las Vegas casino!! Smelled like 30 year old cigarettes although they claim it's a non-smoking hotel but if you never replace the carpet, paint or furniture, it still smells. Felt dingy and dirty. At 1:00 am we got a wonderful whiff of someone, somewhere smoking marijuana. Carpet had to be at least 30 years old. For the price, I expected a little more up to date accommodations. The sad thing is there are limited accommodations in the area so they don't have too much competition which does nothing for them to want to upgrade. read more

Super convenient location, great price, and great staff! All the staff I encountered during our stay were polite, friendly, and took pride in their work. That was refreshing! The hotel is kept up nicely and has charm to it! The location seems close to everything. They upgraded the TVs- woohoo! The BEST part for me was the complimentary breakfast room service! We chose the homemade donuts- so happy we did! They tasted amazing!! You get to choose from four kinds. I didn't get a picture- they disappeared too quickly! LOL. Solid hotel in Murphy's, Ca if you have kids I highly highly recommend you get the suite with separate rooms. The had a living space with a pull out couch and a doorway leading into the bedroom with two double beds. While we put our twins to bed, we able to chill in the living room leaving them time to settle down quietly in a new space without any distractions. Upon arrival and check in they offer everyone delivery of homemade donuts (sugar, cinnamon, or powder) with orange juice or coffee. Very nice but not a continental breakfast for sure. The suite has a Keurig machine with Starbucks coffee and was fine. Service was slow at check-in but only a negative due to restless antsy twins ready for bed jumping. All-in-all I would definitely come here again. read more

I booked a 2 night stay at Murphy's Suites to enjoy some time up in the mountain wilderness. The hotel was clean, lots of parking, had friendly staff, and was a pleasant stay. When walking into the hotel, there was the fresh smell of pine trees, and in the early morning, cool smokey air like when you go camping during the winter. I liked the amenities in the room. The room was a spacious 2 room suite with each room having its own TV. There was a kitchenette with a microwave, sink, and fridge. Best part was that the room was spotless. Everything was so clean. The hotel is situated near the beautiful main street of Murphy, so with a nice walk, there is access to small shops and restaurants. The shops are warm and inviting to visit. Came to Murphys for a wedding, otherwise, I don't think I would have ever ventured to this part of cali. From the photos, this looks like an old, crusty hotel. I had to put my trust in fellow yelpers when I booked this place. Is it outdated? For sure. Is it clean and well kept? Most def! Miss Sandy, who was our housekeeper, did an amazing job. Even prior to Covid I'd go ahead and wipe all high touch surfaces down, and there was no dust or grime found after wiping down tables, light switches, armchairs, etc. The room was very spacious and I loved how you could open the window for fresh air. We were in room 224, which was in between the supply closet and another room, so it was pretty quiet. All the staff at the front desk were so very kind and friendly. We arrived on a Friday at around 130. Although check in isn't until 3, I was hoping our room would be available and it was. Thank goodness. The gentleman at the front desk explained to us that they deliver freshly made donuts to our room in the morning and asked what flavors I wanted and the time I'd want them delivered. He also informed us that they could make guests a fresh espresso or cappuccino at the front desk. The beans are from a local coffee shop. They also have a soft serve machine at the front desk. The only flavor is chocolate, but throughout our stay, my kid probably went down to request a cone 6-7 times. The person manning the desk always obliged, and never made him, or any of us, feel like we were a bother. After our first night I forgot I had requested the donuts to be delivered at 7am. I guess I expected a knock at the door, but remembered that we put the "do not disturb" sign up. At about 715, I opened the door and a tray with 4 bags of donuts along with 4 orange juice boxes were delivered to our door. How cute!!! They did this on both mornings! We took advantage of the complimentary espresso and yepppp, that def hit the spot. I love a strong/dark cup and that was it! Saved us time and money to have fresh coffee from the front desk. We happened to take a dip in the pool and spa our first night here. They were also outdated, but clean- no crap at the bottom of the pool or old leaves/debris floating up top. The workout area consisted of a treadmill and an exercise bike that looked like it was from the 80s. The workout room also has the entry to the sauna in it. The sauna was immaculate. The only downside was there was no working thermometer. Another con was that the tv reception was not great. Channels were mostly fuzzy, but while on vacation the tv is only on to hear the local news while we get ready in the morning or ready for bed in the evening so that wasn't a big deal. Will I ever be back to Murphys? Probably not, but I definitely recommend. read more

If you must stay here, please avoid room 101. The mattress was caved in and lumpy. The floor was tacky-sticky, even the next day - I have to wonder how they did that. There is a 24hr lighted sign outside the window and the heat/ac unit blows air so that the curtains will not close. Highway 4 is just a few feet away from the window, or at least it sounds like that. There were no batteries in the TV remotes. Even though the signs say masks are required, the staff consider this an optional requirement. Breakfast was a frozen burrito - ready to be microwaved. The towels were scratchy. Gosh, I could keep going but I think you can see the trend. We didn't sleep for so many reasons, and yet my shoulder hurts from trying to not roll into the center of the bed. On a positive note, the hot water worked. Had I known, I would have considered sleeping in the car more seriously. read more

Our room was very large and spacious with a large bathroom. The parking lot is large and the spaces wide. We didn't sample the free donuts or frozen breakfast burritos so can't comment on that. We booked a suite Thursday - Sunday during Murphy's Irish Days Celebration weekend 2024. This is one of the busiest event weekends in Murphy's and we learned several businesses were under staffed and under prepared! But not the Murphy's Suites! Easy to locate off Hwy 4, and our room was ready upon arrival! Our room was clean, the front desk staff were all very pleasant and always had a smile to greet us with. They provide you with fresh donuts or a breakfast burrito each morning. It's your choice and you can switch it up each morning. There are coffee makers in each suite, but it's worth the short walk to the front desk in the mornings for the fresh brewed complimentary coffee made using fresh ground beans from a local brewing company. I really enjoyed being greeted by the smell of the fresh brewed coffee at the front desk each morning. Our king bed was comfortable and all the appliances and fixtures worked well. It's a short walk to Main Street and all the activities. We were in Suite 201, which was closest to Hwy 4. So there is some road noise. I would recommend getting a suite away from Hwy 4. The hotel is quaint and the staff were friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Looking forward to visiting Murphy's again. read more

First impression was that this is a nice hotel. Clean spacious parking lot. Friendly people at the front desk. Comfortable two room suite in which to relax and escape the heat. We had an end room close to the highway but there was very little highway noise in the room. Just the occasional motorcycle noise and heavy footsteps from the floor above. The HVAC unit kept the room cool without too much noise. Check-in and check-out is old school using paper. Negatives: tub/shower is an inexpensive plastic insert that I would not consider for my house. WiFi is free if you can connect. Half the time my tablet could not detect any WiFi signal and the other half the time it dropped the connection in less than a minute. The big negative was the bed. It was old and worn out. I had to use a second pillow as a barrier to keep from falling into the crevice in the center of the bed. read more

This is our fourth time staying here and we've always stayed on the first floor. Yesterday was our first time that we had a room on the second floor ... and, ohhhhhh ... my back is killing me! Stayed here for our Murphys wine tasting weekend. I was very happily surprised by this place. It's only about two blocks from Main Street, so a nice easy walk to 'downtown' (which is about half a mile long). The gentleman checking us in was super friendly and helpful, There was a problem with our booking, and he helped us get it straightened out. He suggested we take the path to Main St. in the morning, which was wonderful since they were working on the roads and the sidewalk was torn up in places. The rooms were really nice, with a sitting room and a bedroom, each with their own T. I'm assuming the sofa folds out to a bed, but we didn't need it and didn't check. There is a small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, which came with regular packaged coffee, but he told us we could come down to the main desk for fresh ground coffee (and I think espresso). They make doughnuts every morning and drop them off at your room with orange juice, or you can get a breakfast burrito. The one thing I didn't like was that the bathroom was small, the fan was very loud, and the sink was outisde the bathroom in the kitchen area. But overall I would highly recommend this place. read more

Had a horrible experience last with bigotry directed at service dog. After giving us a really hard time at the front desk citing that our service animal was not allowed they claim to prohibit "pets: They somehow don't know about the guiding principles regarding service animals. Then they pushed it further by wanting to what disability I have. After, all illegal questions and treatment they called a supposed manager who also hemmed and hobbobbed still further before telling us to psu an additional deposit that will be returned to us in the morning . After roughly a half hour they returned knocked on the door loudly and said we had to leave and she had already called the police. They also refused to return our money and deposit. They are woefully ignorant and it was their policy to do these things. They were clear that all they care about was the dog and didn't understand how a service dog. They were not all concerned about the special needs required consistent with laws. Maybe some needs education on the matter. Staff refused to cite their names and were rude, obstinate and should not be dealing with the public . If you consider yourself disabled consider not going here ever. All disabled should stand in solidarity and tell people about this shabby hotel read more

Very pleased with out two room suite. Very clean and had two TV's, which was nice. Very friendly staff on both days. Keep in mind, if you go to a concert at Ironstone, the band might be staying there. We met and got pics with the band Foghat the next morning! Fresh donut holes and orange juice brought to your door in the morning....free. We stayed at the end near the highway and it was loud at times due to the motorcycles but that's not the hotels fault. read more

Got the job done. Best value for your money for the area. Spacious room. Yes, everything is outdated but so is the whole town. If you're looking for a modern anything, you're in the wrong city. The stars are based on the location and value for the area. Not the modernness of the hotel. While there was a tube TV, we didn't use it so we can't comment on it. I didn't give 5 stars for the following reasons: The bed was extremely uncomfortable (I wasn't the only one that complained). The room could of been a little cleaner. The flushing noise from the room upstairs was a bit loud and our window looked into someone's backyard I think? we wanted to try the pool/spa but forgot suits. There were others in it so it couldn't of been that bad. Looked like a decent pool. But all in all, it got the job done. read more

Highly recommend this place. Decent price for a great room. The four of us were very comfortable in a suite. The main bedroom contained two queen beds and the outer room had a sofa bed. Each room had their own T.V. (nice), and the suite came with coffee maker, fridge and free wireless. There is also a pool, spa and small fitness room. We used the pool (it was pretty cold though). Unfortunately, the spa was broken. Only negative thing I have to say about the place. Since there had been a wine tasting festival in town and numerous inebriated guests, we were worried about noise but didn't hear a thing all night. Awesome! Best of all were the free (and fresh) mini doughnuts and orange juice the next day! Good location near downtown Murphys. It is walking distance but too far to go with kids.
