This place is so awesome. We needed a place to stay just for the night but I've also stayed here once before and it's always a great option. Rooms are a little dated (specifically the sofa bed) but overall it's a comfortable room with a lot of space. We spent some time in the pool and hot tub. I have to mention that the best thing about this place is the management and staff. Everyone is so friendly and it's really the small touches That make this place so great. They offer soft serve ice cream 24/7, Donuts in the morning. (Or choice of frozen breakfast burrito instead-no thanks). I left a $400 gold braclet in the room and I thought for sure when I called it would be no where to be found. That was not my scenario at all. They put me on hold, went to look for it, found it, and had it waiting for me at the front desk when I returned. To top it off they called me a week or so later to let me know they also found a sweater in my room. Who does this? There are good and honest people left in this world. Love it here and will definitely stay again and recommend to others. Would give 10 stars if I could read more

Not many choices of places to stay when you are visiting the town. This hotel is basic and comfortable. It is centrally located and in walking distance to the Downtown which is nice. read more

We visited Murphys Suites after a very large snow storm 20 mins up highway 4.The hotel did not seem busy maybe 6 cars total in the parking lot when we arrived . Check in says 3pm and we arrived at 2:50. We were told the room was not ready since they had a large a number of guests check out ( check out was 4hrs prior at 11am) and the cleaning crew "was working to get the rooms cleaned" . The desk clerk said they'd call us when the room was ready. We were ok with that since we hadn't eaten and would just grab a bite to eat while waiting for the room. At 4:15 we arrived again with 2 very tired kiddos and were told the room still wasn't ready and they'd call when we could check in. Since we weren't guaranteed how long we'd be sitting around waiting for the room to be ready we decided to request a refund and just drive the 2hrs home to get the kids to bed . When the front desk clerk said we'd still be charged and "there were no refunds" my husband disagreed .....and miraculously they had a room ready . The hotel rooms were very outdated which we already knew from online reviews, but somehow added to the charm. The room was very clean and had a separate living area from the sleeping area, which was great staying with kids . One of the perks for the $150 a night was the 24/7 soft serve ice cream and the fresh donuts and OJ which was supposed to be delivered to our room in the morning . HOWEVER both the ice cream and donut machines were "out of service " . This was a bummer and wish we hadn't mentioned this to the kids. Overall if it weren't for the room not being ready and unknown of when it would be ready we would have given the hotel 4 stars and would probably will stay again. read more

This place is very reasonable, AND..... you get what you pay for right? Right! I'm not posting this to try and ruin an establishment. I'm posting this to advise my fellow yelpers that if you have allergies to mold or dust mites- you need to steer clear of this place. Mmmmkay? Also if you're trying to impress a certain someone, don't stop here!!! If you NEED shelter, if your other option is sleeping in the car or Snow camping without a tent, you should do ok here. Here's my story: Our room smelled musty, the carpet was old and filthy. Carpet needs to be replaced!! Window sills need to be bleached.The blankets were falling apart, and one had a stain that was dark red or brown :( The room was dusty and there was a lot of mildew. No bedskirts, so the stained and filthy box spring was staring us in the face when we walked in. LOTS of dust and we ended up not feeling well. I had a really bad headache from the mold, and the dust mites were out of control too. My son's allergies were so bad that he's requested not to stay here again- and we won't. The photos don't lie. The mattress was awful, and the pillows were even worse. Besides the allergies brought on by this place, there was also another safety concern. No latch on the door. I really wish that they had a security latch, our baby kept trying to escape. ( I can't say that I blame her). If we weren't so excited to get to the snow, I would have checked out upon checking in. They deliver donuts and OJ to you in the am. My family thought that was pretty cool. I personally didn't care for them. No chocolate? I don't do donuts unless there's chocolate involved. I took a bite of the cinnamon and thought "yuck"! It tastes like stale cake and leftover deep fryer oil. Also the bathroom wreaked of wee wee, just think "eau de outhouse" yeah it was that bad. The bathtub is unusually small. Just a tiny little rectangle. The lobby is also small and smells of old grease/fried food and fumes from the fireplace. Were there ANY positives? Yes, I'll list them in no particular order. It's not expensive. The heater does it's job very well. The room/suites are large. The staff that we encountered were friendly and welcoming. There is free WiFi and it's obviously improved since the previous Yelp reviews, we had no problems with it. If you like junkfood, you'll enjoy the donuts. If you don't like people in the morning, it's convenient that you don't even have to leave your room. There is a microwave, fridge, and a hairdryer. So, if you're considering this place, I'll try to point you in the right direction. 1. Ask to see your room first. We were on the first floor- maybe the second floor is less moldy? 2. BYOP Bring Your Own Pillow! ( and a sleeping bag) 3. Don't even take off your shoes, except to get in your sleeping bag. 4. Bring allergy meds 5. Get some milk and bananas from the convenience store right by the Hotel. Why? I'll tell you why, because orange juice and donuts taste gross together, and it's just sugar fat and way more sugar. At least milk and bananas will provide you with a little nutritional value when those donuts show up. read more

Would be a 5 but you jump back into the 80s in the rooms. Great price for good size rooms. Two room suite was amazing for my family so as parents we aren't stuck in the dark when the kids go to sleep. Staff was very accommodating. Nice little outdoor pool. Rooms are clean and well taken care of, even though they are dated we found these to be the cleanest and best taken care of in town (after a failed air bnb and hotel hopping for a few days). Location is good. Not too far from Murphys Main Street shops and wineries-not as close at the old Murphys hotel or Murphys inn, but found to to be overall a better value. read more

A little tired and worn. This hotel was relatively clean and easy to find. Parking right out front and quick check in. The set up was a little weird. There was a front sitting area with a couch, chair and TV. I assume it was a fold out but did not check. There is a "kitchenette" outside the bathroom and the sink doubles as a bathroom sink and kitchen sink. There is a small refrigerator (empty) and a microwave. Then the "bedroom" area with a sliding door and second TV. Sound travels so I was able to hear the monkey child upstairs jumping up and down for about 40 minutes (where are its parents????). Complimentary Fresh donut holes and OJ in the morning was nice. Staff was pleasant. Ok for a quick business trip, but nothing to brag about. Glad I brought my own toiletries, as those provided weren't too exciting. As you can see from the photos, the towels were tattered and threadbare, and the wallpaper was peeling. When we checked in at 4:30, we were sent to a DIRTY room. 4. They promise "doughnuts" for the morning. After three calls and a visit to the front desk, we still didn't get any doughnuts. Our friends said they weren't doughnuts anyway, just doughnut holes. Pretty disorganized considering they do this daily. 5. No outlets near the bed, so we had to charge the phone near the coffee maker. We left the charger on that counter. They claim no charger was turned in. This hotel definitely needs to be updated. Dirty carpets, the pull out couch was awful, all you could feel was the rods every which way you turned. The thing nice was the two rooms with 2 tv's. We had our grandchildren. The service desk employees never once said a word to us with all the in and out we did. No have a nice day, thanks for staying with us. read more

The guy behind the registration desk is definitely the type of guy you want to have drinks with. He is an untapped source of knowledge and humor that would be fun to chat up. During my visits to the front desk, he rambled on about anything from best wine tasting spots to the chances of drunk driving and not getting caught in a small town like Murphys to Cosmic Energy. In reference to karma, he said, "You wouldn't believe the bad shit I've done in my time. I am telling the truth when I'm saying that I've done some bad things. But, it's made me a better person today." Damn. Don't you wish a certain Administration believed in karma? As the bf and I are walking away from the front desk, mentioned guy turns to fellow co-worker and says, "It's been a mighty good day. I've only received three death threats." Now, that's optimism at its finest. The one room suites here are spacious and reaonably priced at about $150 a night for onpeak season, weekends. Additional discounts given to AAA members and other seasonal internet specials. As much as I would like to stay in a historic hotel, I very much appreciated that this place was brand spanking new. Overall: Guy at front desk is a novelty. Conveniently located to restaurants and exploring activities. Ammenities: WiFi, swimming pool, fitness room, free muffins and coffee in the morning, and a very clean hotel suite with microwave, fridge, and coffee pot with complimentary coffee. read more

Pro: spacious rooms, free espressos, 1 muffin and juice in the mornings delivered to the room. Pool/Gym open until 10 PM. Con: DO NOT GET A ROOM TOWARDS THE ROAD. Bad wifi service, Bad insulation, lots of road noise. Nice enough for a suites hotel, No patios or decks off the rooms, Coffee pot, Iron, Ironing board, refrigerator...a good place to party with friends before/after a show at Ironstone and if you don't care about wifi. HOWEVER I picked this hotel for the free wifi as I needed to do a couple of hours of work this weekend and the WIFI SUCKS, DO NOT STAY in the rooms towards the road on the bottom floor, I got a lousy 5-10 kb transfer. Also the suite's interior room is small with no windows. I would not stay here again and would op for a cozy B&B with better breakfasts and service if I didn't need the wifi. Booked in as part of a wedding and the internet deal is much better, paid $130/night not really worth it for what you get. Pass..... read more

Our family stayed here for three nights. It was ok. Quiet for sure but the free wifi was non existent on Friday and Saturday night when the hotel filled up. When asked on checkout "how was your stay?" I replied ok but the wifi was spotty. They reply was that when the hotel fills up it happens. I wanted to reply well how about fixing the issue and buying more data and install signal boosters - after all you are advertising free wifi. The fitness center was sad too and the air conditioner in the fitness center was broken. A good slow food restaurant was across the parking lot- a plus. read more

Nice, clean suite. Staff was very friendly. The jacuzzi and sauna were awesome after a long day of boarding at bear valley and they close at 10pm which I thought was relatively late compared to other places I'd stayed at. Wireless available and there's a pizza place/brewery right across the parking lot. It's...ok. Not much nightlife on main street (walking distance) after 9pm especially on a Friday night. During the day main St is full of little shops and wine tasting shops. Don't forget to visit Clarrisa the town donkey! read more

The Murphys Suites was a great place to crash while checking out what the area has to offer. The staff was always friendly and helpful, the rooms were CLEAN. Not just clean, but really clean! The pool was nice to have during the hot afternoons of summer, the beds were comfortable, and the in-room television had a great lineup of channels. All in all, this is a fantastic value, and I'll definitely stay here again when I return to Murphys. read more

Pleasantly surprised! We choose this hotel because we were going to a retreat held at the hotel. Accommodations were good & the staff was great, very accommodating & super friendly. Our room was a 2 room suite that was very spacious, with a nice sitting room & wet bar/mini kitchenette. I needed to stay here due to the fact that my brother is dying and he lives in Murphy's. By the way, the town is simply charming but I digress. We could not take showers because there was no hot water. There wouldn't be until later that morning but we had to hit the road. Customer service would not address our issue and want for a partial refund. We had to wait for the manager and he wasn't going to be in until today, Monday. You can bet I'll be calling. One more item.. I realize we're in a Covid world but they had no laundry facility for their guests. On the other hand, shout out to Murphy's Inn for having outside laundry facility. Lifesaver. Unfortunately, they are owned by the same people. Oh, they won't tell you but you're not supposed to drink the tap water. Important safety tip. read more

I stayed here for a retreat with a group. The staff were so pleasant & accommodating, & they cook fresh donuts for every room in the morning. We had a great time except the bed & pillows were like sleeping on a slab of cement & a brick for a pillow. It was awful. I was up every hour or two. My back is killing me. It could use some updating also. The couch & chair looked dirty. I wouldn't sit on the furniture. read more

This was a pretty good place overall. The room was clean and the bed was comfy, nice clean towels (though no conditioner so bring your own). It was also well appointed with a hairdryer, microwave, fridge, and two TVs. The hot tub wasn't working - it was hot, but the bubble maker wasn't functioning- and the sauna, pool and little work-out room were a nice add. Couldn't see where the towels were for the pool area, so we used our room towels. We asked to stay another hour the next morning (check-out is 11 am) but were told we couldn't as someone else was coming into the room (does it take 4 hours to clean one room - check-in is at 3 pm?), but overall, service was okay. However, despite the very minor gripes, I think it was good value for money and I'd definitely come back here and stay. read more

We stayed here the night before and the night of our wedding in July. The rooms were uber nice! We had the bridal suite, which was larger than the other rooms, and worked out well as all my bridesmaids and I stayed in it the night before the wedding. The room had a fridge, microwave, sink, two rooms, a jacuzzi tub, etc. It was perfect for us! We had quite a few family members stay here as well the night of the wedding and everyone we spoke to said their rooms were clean and comfortable. We were able to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding and the manager, Mike, gave us a discount for those who stayed in our block of rooms, which was very nice and much appreciated! A breakfast is included with the room. The breakfast consists of orange juice and a muffin. This was fine for me, but my husband was still hungry. The staff at Murphys Suites was polite and very kind. Our wedding party needed to practice our dance and they found a conference room for us to use, so we had plenty of space to practice. We were very happy with our stay at Murphys Suites and highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area. read more

We came to Murphys for a wedding and made reservations at the Murphys Suites. Mark checked us in...and he was wonderful! Very informative and helpful. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It is a little dated, but it's part of the Murphys town charm! The staff more than makes up for it. I called Murphys Suites, and one of the staff members took the time to look for it. She found it, and wrapped it up so it wouldn't get damaged until I came back to pick it up. This place was great! Shared a room with a good friend for a two-night Veteran's Day Weekend getaway. We arrived at 12:30pm so we were prepared to not be able to check in right away, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. And they checked us right in - awesome service! The price was very reasonable for a good-sized suite with separate living and sleeping spaces. It was clean and comfortable, and the complimentary cookies, ice cream, and ice water in the lobby were appreciated bonuses. The fresh, in-house made donuts and little cartons of orange juice, delivered to our room at a time we specified each morning, were a lovely touch. I wouldn't call it "breakfast", but it was something to start the day prior to heading out and enjoying the area. We visited the town of Murphys, Mercer Caverns, California Caverns, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Columbia State Park, and Angels Camp, all in easily drivable distance from the hotel. (Downtown Murphys, with many adorable shops and restaurants, is walking distance.) We didn't get to take advantage of the outdoor pool and hot tub because it was November. Overall I would absolutely book again, and recommend this hotel to friends. read more

We chose to stay at Murphys Suites based on reviews we had read. I am so glad we did. The room was an actual suite, spacious and comfortable. It was also clean (most important to me) and quiet (most important to my husband). The beds were on the firm side, but we still slept great! The staff was friendly and helpful - they seemed happy, which speaks volumes for the owners. It is a seven minute walk to downtown (which is important because there are MANY places for wine tasting there.) Heck, even the gas station right next door had a great wine selection! This was our first visit to the Murphys area, but will not be our last. As for places to stay, we will always pick Murphys Suites! read more

Apart from being super clean it was also comfortable and it sure made me feel at home. The staff was friendly from the moment we arrived. The waiting area is big and open and was clean. We stayed in a "suite". It too was very clean. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. Small kitchenette with refrigerator was convenient. There were lots of nice little touches especially the homemade donuts delivered in the morning with little orange juice boxes. There is lots of parking a pool and coffee in the reception area. The hotel is close to town and an easy walk to all of the tasting rooms in Murphy's. read more

This was a very nice spot to stay close to old town. Walkable so if you've got plans to do some wine tasting, this is a good location. I've stayed at an Airbnb before there in Murphys but this trip they were all too expensive. Staying at Murphys Suites fit our budget and we were especially pleased with how big the room was - that was fantastic!! The furnishings aren't the most modern but honestly, it was all immaculate (special big Thank-You to housekeeping!!). Our only meh-moment was when one of guest got drunk and loud in the parking lot, yelling at her friends. Even though they were outside, downstairs, it sounded like they were in the hallway. I wish the front desk (who also heard everything going on), had stepped in sooner and called the cops. Eventually, it was resolved but about an hour of that mess. Oh, and the complimentary fresh-made donuts that were delivered to our room in the morning were PERFECT!! That just really set the tone for a fun day!! read more

One star because the people who work here are crazy. We asked if the next day we could stay till 4pm, we said we were willing to pay but did we have to pay for a whole night? The lady Tracy, directed us to Rhonda who would be working in the morning,said she could probably move some people around or something. Rhonda was so great, said it would be no problem. We have a baby and we're going to a wedding, they seemed so considerate. We thanked her over and over again. At 2pm Tracy comes pounding on our door telling us to leave...we ask why, she denies saying what she said, then Rhonda denies it. My husband gets a little upset, I start explaining and asking if we should leave...then Rhonda says if she said that...? We could stay... So weird and uncomfortable. The maids stood by our door until we left. Besides all that. The rooms were from the 1980s. Old tv, dirty, in very much need of an update. read more

I made reservations on Expedia and realized I made it for wrong night. I immediately called Murphys Suites to correct my mistake and cancel and rebook for the correct night, I was told my the night manager that I needed to call Exspedia to cancel the reservation. Exspedia called Murphys suites and Exspedia was told by the night manager that Murphys suite would not cancel cancel or credit me for the wrong night. This reservation was an obvious mistake and Murphys suites knew it was a mistake but refused to refund my charge. This business practices is not the way to keep past customers happy or to get or keep repeat customer in the future. It would have not cost Murphys suites a cent to cancel my reservation, instead they told Exspedia they would not credit me for the mistake and lost a customer for a simple fix of a mistake, doesn't make sense or good business practice. read more

Anthony Melchiorri really needs to come here and work his magic! This place isn't horrible so if you absolutely HAVE to stay in Murphys this will get you by. The hotel is clean but outdated and the room configuration is strange - sink / vanity is in the living room. The "assistant manager" was at the check in desk and when we walked up she was having a conversation with the other assistant manager about a time card - who was going to sign it, why wouldn't "he" sign it, etc. A nice touch was her pack of Marlboro Blacks on the desk in plain view. She checked us in, all the while continuing her conversation with the other employee. She was friendly enough I guess - just not very professional. The donuts and orange juice delivered to your room in the morning is a nice touch. Our order was wrong - nothing critical and probably due to the fact that at check in she was having that conversation instead of focusing on the guest. When we checked out this morning, no one was at the front desk and we rang the bell 5 times and waited 10 minutes before someone appeared from the back. I was happy we only spent one night there. read more

We unexpectedly had to leave as we were notified our home was broken into. We had just checked in about 3 hours before leaving the room untouched as we visited the area. Most places would have stuck us with the charge but they happily gave us a full refund! Incredibly nice and honest business. Would recommend you based on that. read more

We stayed four nights. The rooms are very spacious and a good value for the money. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We would probably stay there again. We enjoyed the morning donuts and OJ too! On the down side. The stairs were never vacuumed during our stay and they needed it. The hallway seemed clean. One day the donuts just never came. The sheets were clean but they need to update because they do not fit the mattress well with the toppers on the beds so they ride up. There is also no bed skirt so you often are looking at exposed striped mattress/ box springs on the side of the bed. I also was not a fan of looking at all the dirty laundry pile in the room right behind the front desk.. It was always visible. This could really have gotten five stars as a good value option with just a little more tlc and attention to details. read more
