Thank God for amazing friends and family of the bride for pulling together what was a cluster F@&$. Don't advertise yourself as a one stop wedding venue if you can't even make it a Priority to have the venue clean and ready to receive guests. Yes there were some stressful conditions in the area but you had two and a half days to get it together. I can only hope this was a learning experience for the whole venue crew and that you take those lessons of what NOT to do and how NOT to treat people. You represent a Small community that has a lot of heart. Make it count!

The front is a par 38 and the back is a par 32. Par 32, piece of cake, right? Wrong. The back is demanding and extremely narrow. You have to play smart, hit your shots, and leave your shots to green in the right place. The pro shop is rocked well enough and both Bob and Chris are excellent. The practice areas here are enough to get you ready for your round, or allow you to work on your game. The driving range is rough, but it works. There is an outside deli window that is open for most of the year that you can grab stuff at the turn at, and the bar has dogs and chips when the deli is closed. The restaurant has huge glass windows that let you lookout onto the course at dinner and the food has always been excellent. Everyone I have ever met here has been kind, personable, and easy-going. It's not a stuffy club. Come in the summer and watch kids cannon ball off the diving board. It's a great place to golf, a great place to just be, and it's definitely one of my happy places.

The menu included many choices: french toast, waffle, omelet, potatoes, veggies, eggs to order, bacon, toast, english muffin and fruit. The portions were extremely generous! The staff were all great including owner Michael who was very attentive to questions we had. We've also stayed at another of his properties (The Victoria Inn) which was also lovely. We definitely plan to be back and I can hardly wait! While we were in the area we ate at Jesus' Restaurant (Mexican across the street), Firewood (delicious pizza), and coffee at Aria. We also enjoyed hard cider at Indigeny Reserve! I definitely recommend staying at the Dunbar!

We got married here!…read more Shopping for venues can get discouraging with food and beverage minimums, extra charges and back-to-back weekend weddings where they kick you out the next day. This place is a cozy, green oasis in one of the cutest towns in America, and the value is incredible. They let us have the run of the place for the whole weekend while we hosted and set up. The staff made it feel like home -- such kind and lovely people. Breakfast for our wedding party was included. Anything we asked for, they made it happen, and we were able to control every aspect of the event: bar, catering, etc. Another perk I didn't anticipate was a 360 view of the venue from the bridal suite, which allowed me to keep an eye on everything while I was getting ready. The suite is basically an apartment, with a full kitchen we were able to cater our rehearsal dinner out of. Most of our guests were able to stay the weekend and walk to the venue from their hotels (they make it easy with their sister hotel the Victoria Inn and associated rentals). Our wedding was a dream that we're sad to wake up from. If this place calls to you, do not hesitate to book.

The room was clean, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. The food was the highlight. The French toast was amazing--easily some of the best I've ever had. We also loved the evening wine and charcuterie. Do yourself a favor and try the marinated mushrooms and the garlic-stuffed green olives. They were outstanding. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay with great food and wonderful hospitality, I highly recommend the Black Bear Inn.

We also know however, that the more you Google looking for answers, the more questions you have! Even if you have a venue, you now need to worry about seating charts, timelines, hairstylists, weather, forest fires, COVID, cleanup- oh my! "Do I even need a wedding planner?" may even be a question that you are pondering- and that is ok! The good news is, this review that you are reading is the review you need. As partners, we were asking ourselves these same questions. In hindsight, we would have been stupid to not hire Terri/Events Extraordinaire. Should you simply care about the bottom line, then skip the rest of this review and just hire her already! If you are interested to know why, please see below. Although one of us was skeptical in the value of a wedding planner, I can assure you that Terri's actions and efforts were invaluable in making our day perfect. From the very first meeting, we were relieved at the methodic approach Terri takes to wedding planning. Your first meetings are simply getting to know each other and learning what the couple wants to achieve with the wedding. Terri fairly listened to both of our ideas and provided unbiased feedback and guidance. These little nudges compounded to big decisions which encouraged us along the wedding planning process. Speaking of the process, Terri has one. She has timelines, 'day of' agenda's, and planning deadlines that keep not only the couple, but also your vendors on track! Although you may expect the planning process to go smoothly, just as we had, of course life happens. We had a serious issues with one of our main vendors (That we found before working with Terri) the month before the wedding. We promptly referenced Terri's pre-supplied vendor list and found someone who was more budget friendly, that produced fantastic results. Then, just one week before the wedding, the HMUA dropped out (crazy we know!). Terri picked up her personal cell phone that same day, to step in, and spent the evening with us hunting down alternates. To us, Terri felt like another family member with all of the right tools in her tool box to help us navigate the complex nuances of wedding planning. On the day of the wedding, we hardly noticed Terri- and I mean that in a good way! Seamlessly behind the scenes, our wedding day and timeline panned out about as perfect as it could be. We chose to have an outdoor reception, and used the covered patio for our bar and dance floor. The tables were set up on the lawn over looking the 1st and 10th hole. The waterfall on the pond was behind us. The food was fabulous, as always. The portions were extremely generous! Our family and friends kept telling us how delicious the food was, and how gorgeous the setting was too. I think we may have to celebrate our milestone anniversary here one year. Heather truly went above and beyond to make our stay special, doing so many thoughtful things that she didn't have to. She was incredibly kind and even built us a cozy fire so we could enjoy making s'mores in the evening. The lodge is extremely dog-friendly, which was perfect for us. They even have a secure, gated potty area where dogs can safely be off leash. Our husky had the best time playing with Bear, who is one of the sweetest dogs we've ever met. Bear got along wonderfully with our dog and was friendly with every person and dog we saw. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you're looking for a welcoming, relaxing, and dog-friendly place to stay in Arnold, Meadowmont Lodge is the perfect choice. We'll definitely be back!

This was our second stay at Arnold Meadowmont Lodge…read more Which is saying something, because it's five and a half hours from our house. We don't even drive five and a half hours to visit some relatives. We found it by accident a few years ago on an anniversary trip and liked it so much that we came all the way back just to stay here again. I love this place because it still has that classic 1960s roadside motor lodge feel. Not the "I hope the plumbing works" kind. More like, "This is what a motor lodge would look like if somebody loved it for the last 60 years." Everything is immaculate. The rooms are spotless, the landscaping looks like every blade of grass had a performance review, and they've got a fire pit and cornhole out back. Which is a game I've played for years and still can't believe that's the name everyone agreed on. The people here are just... nice. And not "hotel nice." Actually nice. We know because, on the way up, we hit a deer. That's not part of the amenities, by the way. Suddenly we're wondering if our car is going to be in the shop for days, and the staff immediately started helping us figure out how to extend our stay if we got stranded. They didn't have to do any of that. They just genuinely wanted to help take one more thing off our plate during a pretty stressful day. Thankfully, we made it home, but that little gesture is the kind of thing you remember. There are plenty of hotels where you sleep. This is one where you feel welcome. My wife and I can't wait to come back. Hopefully next time we'll leave the local wildlife out of the itinerary.
