For just getting out of the house and running away for the night we were able to get a place here. the gentleman at the front desk is very nice and courteous , but the hotel itself needs a big big makeover there is dust and crud everywhere or you can tell the cleaning people do not clean or sweep or vacuum there's something splashed all over the front of the TV , but if it was just cleaned with new lamp shades and updated it would be a good hotel but right now for the price of $188 heck no not worth it at all. read more

2nd time staying here. I was hoping that it would be a different experience as last time but it wasn't. The 2 stars are for the staff and location, very nice staff, location is perfect as long as you don't mind a 5 min walk. Both times staying here I've been sick for a few days after. Sinus pressure, I'm assuming from mold or dust? The beds are horrible. I brought my own pillows knowing the experience prior. We've decided to not stay here again. read more

Nothing fancy but rooms were better than ok'd Murphys hotel but not as good as Murphys suites. Location is great. Has a pool which is a plus. Staff super accommodating although we did want to talk to the manager to see if we could work out staying for the week after our air bnb issue. We never did see or hear from the manager but the other staff was super kind although didn't have the authority to authorize anything like matching the price on a booking site. Rooms were clean but some maintenance is needed as there was mildew in the bathroom ceiling. The mini fridge was helpful. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. For the price and last minute it was worth it for a weekday rate. In a weekend when prices go up quite a bit, I'd prefer Murphys suites but we enjoyed our short stay here and it got the job done for sure. The location also makes everything walkable which is great. read more

We arrived thur. Manager at fri desk. I saw rated 8.5. Room was old but clean. It appeared no one at front desk at night after 6 pm. They did not offer towels nor cleaning. We were in our room the second day. Someone opened our door to the room saw we were in the room and walked away fast. We tried to ask why she opened the door empty handed. Lights were unplugged. TV did not turn in amd off with button. Man came to room to tell us that and it was just like no prob you have to get up and turn tv around to look for button to turn off and on I would not suggest going to a motel where people walk in your room and they walk away to fast. My friend called the manager to explain what happen and they never responded. I would NOT suggest staying at this motel read more

Swimming pool? Check Clean? Check 2 Queen-sized beds? Check Friendly front desk? Check Restaurants and coffee within walking distance? Check AAA discount? Check Near the sites we want to see? Check Kid-friendly? Check Free parking? Check Near many outlets for wine tasting within walking distance? Not lookiing for this at this time time but if we were, it would definitely be a "check." We managed to get room here in short notice at weekend. The location is great. In the middle of downtown. Rooms are large, clean and equipped with microwave and refrigerator. They have cookies at front desk and Bruce (front desk staff) is very nice! read more

Had a wedding to shoot over the weekend and wound up staying here. Glad we did. the place is nice. clean, and yet a bit rustic. Room was very 'roomy' and had a nice feel to it. Mattresses were good. hot water readily available (though we didn't need it, due to the heat!) and the STAFF was always very nice, polite, professional and helpful! Only thing that disappointed me...was the wireless internet signal. it sucked. Apparently, the wireless nodes downstairs are locked in an office and can't be adjusted. Couldn't get a lock on the signal for more than 10-seconds, so had to walk down the hallway a couple of rooms to a decent-sized upper deck overlooking the lobby to get a signal...and even THEN, it was very slow and sluggish. (i'm thinking it's their internet provider and not their equipment). Still, it's a nice place to store your stuff, freshen up and sleep. read more

We stayed the Saturday of Frog Jump weekend - did not realize until we saw the hundreds of bikes in town. However, the location is perfect. Pros: Clean, clean & clean Friendly staff With in walking distance of tasting rooms, Magnolia Cafe & downtown eateries Free parking Cons: The noise level created by the bikes & bikers when returning from the bars at 2:30am Walls a little thin I would not hesitate to stay again, but note to self - not during Frog Jump read more

This motel is fairly new so everything was pretty modern. Nice rooms. Nice tv with clear channels. Beds were nice. Fridge and microwave. Roomy bathrooms. Nice lobby with computer and wifi in the rooms. Staff was friendly. They lost one star for one reason: Even though I know the room was cleaned it did not smell fresh. I don't know if it was the carpet, drapes, bedspreads or a combo of all but the room just had an unfresh scent. The room and bathroom appeared clean and I was comfortable. I'm not sure what it was but I'm sure they could do a better job. Otherwise nice affordable place. read more

This is a straightforward motel - not a luxury hotel, which is fine. We stayed here while visiting Murphys and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the front desk staff (Tanya) was helpful and friendly. The motel is just at the edge of town, so one can walk in to the town easily and explore the shops and restaurants. Parking is convenient - it's really a good place to stay for one or two nights when you know you are going to be out and about during the day. read more

Worst internet ever. One bar! Last room at the end of the hotel, but for $250 a night, I should be able to get a signal. I already know the bed sucks too. Stuck here for the night. Next time somewhere else. read more

We stayed here over the weekend and would stay again. The location is perfect for wine tasting on Main Street. The room was clean.... The shower was nice.. Good water pressure.. Clean towels.. Staff was pleasant. They do have a pool which looked clean but we didn't use it.... If we visit Murphy's again, we will stay here... read more

oh, my God, this place has gone to hell. It has changed owners the new owners live on site, and they are more concerned about their home then running a Hotel and they are definitely not friendly or concerned about their guests. I stayed there many times before I will never stay there again. When you come in no one is manning the desk. You have to ring the bell and then a girl about 16 years old comes out basically wearing her PJs to check you in. I said thank you three times and never got it. You're welcome they don't run the air conditioner in the lobby or the hallways, the carpeting in the main areas and halls is filthy. The exterior needs paint and every flower bed is full of weeds. Next the room they have room air conditionings the day we it was 100° took four hours to cool a room off. While checking in the 16-year-old informed us that the main entrance closes at nine and you have to use a siding for us with your room key. We went out later that night, and like she said we entered over by the dumpster. Because they (owners) couldn't be disturbed with customers after nine. We went to the lobby. And they had a glass container full of stale Keebler cookies. Went back to our room. I want to use the bathroom and noticed the black mold in the toilet. Which tells me it has not been scrubbed in at least a week. Since there was nobody manning the front desk ever didn't see anyone there once and this was during the weekend Saturday afternoon I watched the parking lot fill up the lobby was for deep with customers and the same 16-year-old in her pajamas was checking people in the lobby and hallways were hot and stunk CURRY and ginger. Saturday night I went downstairs to get a Coke. Came back up and I wondered why room 205 door was wide open. I peaked in and there was a naked couple. It freaked me the hell out but who was I going to call the 16-year-old? this place is pitiful. I don't care if they paid you to stay there. Do not stay there. read more

Managed to get a room here on Saturday night over memorial day weekend. Got lucky enough to get a room. This is a basic very nice hotel. I don't believe it's a chain. A couple of things. Great location - like a 5 minute tops walk to the center of town BIG PLUS for us. AC works great They have a pool didn't try it though. Friendly staff Flat screen tv Price was reasonable for the memorial day weekend. better than some other hotels in the area. Very clean room Ample parking Free WI-FI. Not the fastest, not the slowest either Others - No elevator One ice machine on the 1st floor read more

If I could give u less than one star I would... Absolutely ridiculous... Called 3x to ensure u had my books u told me you had them... talked to two different people each one assured me you had them... So I drove an hour and a half to pick them up only to be be told u never had them in the first place.... I can not tell u how pissed I am u wasted my time my gas my day... Do not come to this crap hotel not to mention when we checked in our room was not even made up by housekeeping so we had to switch rooms... Your hotel isn't even that big how do u send guests to a room that isn't even clean... Should have known how shady you were from the start...I'll find more places to review ur crap hotel and post this there as well read more

My friends and I stayed here for one night to have a half way point between Sacramento and Yosemite. The motel was not fancy but was perfect for a one night stay. It was clean and well stocked and worked great for us. However, I did book through hotels.com which was a huge mistake. They were charging me $173 a night as opposed to the motels $250, but I now know to call the manager and he will adjust the price for you. Hotels.com did not send the payment to the manager so I had to pay twice, which was no fault of the manager who was incredibly helpful. He told me exactly what to do to get it sorted out and I am now expecting a refund from hotels.com. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend calling the motel if you find a better price and he will help you. read more

Worth the price, location, and convenience. A clean place to stay. No frills, but fun and friendly staff. Walk to any location in Murphy's from your hotel room. Grab an Oreo or doughnut from the front desk before hitting the door. Quiet. Clean. Comfortable. read more

Very nice older clean motel, great location for access to all of the fun of Murphy's. The staff was wonderful, very friendly & at the end of our trip we were called to let us know I had left an item behind. We were well into our next phase of the trip, too far to return to make a return trip. They offered to mail it to me after receiving a check to cover the costs it was mailed & we days later I have my item. I'm very grateful that good people still exist. Thank you Murphy's Inn! I highly recommend them. read more

This has to be the worst hotel in California. Staff look like zombies, when they see you they actually turn and hide. Power went out, passed out woman in hallway, police and EMT onsite at 3am and when staff came in at 8am they didn't even care. No power and temp was over 100 that weekend. Requested refund for the one night and they refused. Even though staff said "yeah this is like the forth time this has happened this month, maybe I should have someone look at it" There is no number to call or a way to get ahold of staff after 8pm, no one on site during the night. Did not feel safe at all. Owner has friends and family taking up second floor and staff only cater to them. I felt like Murphys was a meth lab and everywhere I went employees wouldn't even acknowledge you, were strung out, or only talking to another druggie. I felt like I was in the twilight Zone/breaking bad/Zombie land. Will never go back this place ever!! read more

This stay was a huge disappointment from the onset! Was ignored by the person behind the desk upon arriving. Lost our reservation and took us forever to check in. The room was shabby at best. Uncomfortable beds and filthy carpet. When checking out we were overcharged. When I complained the clerk apologized and said she didn't know how to fix the price but assured me that the manager would credit my card for the difference. Never happened! Numerous calls were made when we got home but no one answers the phone. I tried to email them but the email address on the invoice was returned to me as "undeliverable ". SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AGGRAVATION, PICK ANOTHER Motel!!!! read more

I would avoid at any cost! So many things they don't tell you until after you book and give them your credit care info! Like 7 days cancellation policy! SEVEN DAYS! Most places have a 24 hour cancellation policy. What a joke this place is. They will take your money and run! read more

Stayed here twice and planning to return. Place is clean and comfortable--best that Murphys has to offer. Close to downtown, shopping and tasting rooms and the only supermarket to be had. Staff is very accommodating and room rates are reasonable. read more

If I could give less than one star then I would. This is the absolute worst service that I have ever received. I booked online through Expedia and they accidentally double booked me. Instead of the hotel accommodating me, they basically told me that it is my problem to figure out. I am actually so glad that this happened because on my way out of this horrible hotel I noticed numerous cockroaches. Another hotel here in town accommodated me. It was much cleaner with way better service. Please save your money and pick one of the many fabulous hotels here in town that actually care about their customers and being clean. read more

Friendly front desk agent, checked in around midnight and requested late check out w/out any issues, clean rooms (I didn't need to spend my first 15 min cleaning the room w/Lysol wipes!). Overall a great experience and would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in the area. read more

Great location, but for the price, wasn't a great experience. There was hair all over the bathroom floor, which greatly concerned me that the room wasn't adequately cleaned during Covid. Also, the lady that checked us in was complaining about having to give information to another guest about the town. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend for the Celtic Festival down in Sonora (everything closer was booked). The staff was really nice and friendly, the pillows a bit hard and so was the bed, however the over all experience was wonderful. Everything was clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a slower pace of life, amazing scenic views, wine tasting, and awesome food found locally. read more

This place tries to impress but fails miserably. The service staff completely ignored my room and didn't service it at all. Seriosuly? I asked Bruce at the front desk and he tried to accommodate me. But it isn't his job. Where is the service staff? Why didn't they service my room? Why can't I get ahold of a manager or have anybody come here to service my room? What did I pay for a room where I have no service? I am severely disappointed in this place. Don't stay here if you expect your room to be serviced ever. this place is a complete and total rip-off. Don't stay here unless you want to be ripped off completely. Disgusted. read more

Checked in with Bruce who was awesome and kind. Pros- close to the wedding venue we were attending. Location- close to Main Street Lots of parking Room was clean and spacious, outdated but nothing we couldn't handle. Cons- My biggest complaint was that when I went to take a shower there was no hot water. I called the front desk and Tanya I believe her name was, said she didn't know why. I took a cold shower and when I let her know at checkout she said sorry and to leave a review on trip advisor, I did not leave happy. Thin walls, noisy motorcycle groups who do not care about how loud they are in front of the hotel. Bed was hard. Mini fridge and AC were both very loud- we turned them both off. I would not stay here again read more

I stayed here during early October for the Grape Stomp Festival. Bruce and Tanya along with the rest of the staff were awesome. My room was very clean and spacious. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room along with a flat screen tv. Located off of HWY 4 and just a very short walk to the main street area Murphy. Everything is within walking distance. Safe parking lot for my motorcycle. The Front Desk even provided towels to wipe the morning dew off my ride. Such a great place! read more

This is a great place! Not only were the rates a good price, but the beds were comfy, the staff were super nice, helping us find places open to eat on Chirstmas day! They also have freshly made donuts at the front desk. We were thankful that this motel had a bath tub, instead of a shower, as we have not snow boarded in tears and needed to soak our sore muscles in Epsom salts. We will stay here again, the next time we come! Merry Chirstmas and happy new year! read more

The rooms were clean, reasonably priced, and close to town. We had an appointment in the morning, and requested a wake up call. No wake up call was made, and worse yet, when I mentioned it to the staff at the front desk in the morning, the response was "hmmm" and too long before any apology was made. Would I stay there again? Probably not. read more

We have stayed at a number of places in Murphy's but this place by far out rates the others. Large clean rooms with friendly, helpful staff. Check in is at 3:00 pm, but the last couple times we got into town at 11:00 am and the room was ready, and they let us check in. It's walking distance to everything in downtown Murphy's which is great, park and walk to the wineries. Pricing is great also. read more

We recently stayed here and found the rooms clean with all things working (sort of a new Motel 6), and having the room entrance accessible via an internal hallway is nice (good security and the room stayed warm in the winter). There's WiFi and it's within easy walking distance to all of Main St. in Murphys. The only negative is that the walls are quite thin (we heard snoring next door both nights). Still, I'd recommend this place - good value for the money. read more

Staff was very kind & courteous. The rooms were very clean & organized. Location is safe & no worries about anyone breaking in your car. It's close to a small town which has various stores, restaurants, & gas station. Only thing is we kept getting itchy while laying on the beds. We suspect there might be bed bugs. Upon request to change the bed sheets, the itching stopped. Other than that, great place to stay. Will be coming here again. read more

Hey, bikers, the best in Murphys. Park it and walk to town. Murphys Inn offers towels in the lobby to wipe down the bikes and kickstand blocks as well. Very accommodating and friendly. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Best place for dinner: Angelo's Italian Steakhouse. Kobe beef, awesome pasta, and if you have a birthday--great piece of chocolate cake to share. Um, this place has complimentary oreos. Need I say more? Great little place and it is perfectly located close to all of the fun in Murphys! We walked down to the main street each day from the motel. Clean, decently appointed rooms, the only downside was that we were there on a very hot weekend, and the AC was not on in the room. It was boiling when we arrived, and it took all night to get the temperature down with the small AC unit. I would absolutely stay here again. Like I said, OREOS! read more
