Love this place. We made a last minute reservation and were welcomed with open arms. Lynn was accommodating and very sweet. Our cabin was clean and very large. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back.

Thanks for a great mighty sleep when I was demobilizing from the local fires. Great clean place to stay. None quieter either.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway and want to be surrounded by luxury and beautiful ocean…read moreviews, this is the place to stay. We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. That's why we always come back. I want to especially thank all the staff for making us feel welcome and making our stay extra special.

Recommend parking in the private lot upon arrival as the lot does fill up. The lot is enclosed by the motel so parking may be difficult for larger vehicles. My room was in the center structure on the second floor with parking slots underneath. My room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the parking lot. I could see down and check out my car. Bathroom and bedroom were spacious but a bit dated. Bathroom is located on our left with you enter. Closet space and a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker on the right side. No USB or electrical outlet on the bedside table. I used a long USB to charge my phone overnight. Bed was comfortable. One thing I did not spot was an elevator for the second floor. Check in and out was fast and easy. The small office was locked when I checked out, but they have a walk-up window with 24-hour staff. It felt weird to walk up to the window in the dark to check out. For a quick one-night stay, location, cost, and facilities were more than adequate. I would definitely stay here again.

As someone who travels for work 200+ days a year, ABVI is often my last minute resource for a room, especially during busy convention seasons. That said, I'm still scratching my head about this place... Drove up, parked outside the office, and noticed that the owner/manager family lives on premises, in a unit behind the front desk and also in the back of the motel. No one was at the front desk so I rang the bell. As young woman walks out, holding a conversation on her cordless landline phone, looks at me without smiling, and says, "Yes?" "Good afternoon, I'm checking in please." "Name?" I told her my name, she begins typing on her computer while still talking on her phone. As she hands me my room key I ask, "I understand you're undergoing renovations. Is this room away from the construction and quiet?" "What?!" she replied, a cold blank stare, and then back to her phone conversation. "Is the room quiet?" "They're all the same! Go down the path to your right!" and with that she walked back into the managers quarters and closed the door. As for the room, it was newly renovated but unfinished. I liked that there were toiletries, a refrigerator, microwave, and decent wifi. Pros- -Renovated rooms that are slightly falling apart -Relatively quiet -Super close to the freeway -Budget minded pricing Cons- -Consistently unfriendly staff (on two other occasions I asked for help but never got it) -Parking sucks (one night 4 commercial trucks parked in the guest spaces in front, taking up 2 parking spaces each) -Limited housekeeping staff -Little/no security and at night the parking lot, street outside, and paths are completely dark Seriously, this was no "The Best Bang For Your Buck". It wouldn't be my first or second choice of places to stay in the area. For $20-$30 more per night I'd recommend the "Holiday Inn Express", located directly across the street!

He asked us our floor preference and gave us a great room; the view was gorgeous (see picture)! The room was well maintained, possibly even recently redone. Beds had comfy white comforters and white shutters let in the right amount of light. We saw the breakfast counter when we checked-in and thought it was the typical cereal/milk, donuts, and coffee, but was pleasantly surprised when we came down to hot eggs, sausage and pancakes also. On top of all of this, the room was well priced and the family who owned it was super helpful. If you are staying from out of town, Mill Valley is a cute town nearby to get something to eat (something the owner told us about).

The Muir Woods Lodge was an experience. We stayed there for one night: Saturday, April 25, 2026. On…read morebalance, it wasn't particularly good, but neither was it particularly bad. It was on the budget end of the scale, which might be the first clue that things were not going to be fancy-style. The property is clearly old and tired. First, let me enumerate the positives. The location could hardly be easier. It's on Highway 1 just off Highway 101 in Mill Valley. And considering the location, our room was surprisingly free of road noise, probably because it had newish dual pane windows. The bedding was clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The door lock was of a new and modern design. The clerk that checked us in was very friendly. Lastly, the toilet and sink appeared to be fairly recently upgraded. On the minus side of the ledger, the TV did not work. The bathroom is small. There were stains in the tub, and the floor of the tub flexed underfoot. The (fairly recently upgraded) toilet did not flush correctly. There are no towel hooks, rods, or bars to hang towels on. The hot/cold controls on the sink are backwards. The room smelled of stale marijuana smoke. There were scorch marks/burns on the desk. There was no breakfast as advertised on the website. There was no hair dryer as advertised on the website. Two of the ceiling light cans did not work. The walls are thin enough to hear conversations, the neighbors' TV, and more. There are numerous dings and scrapes in the walls and doors. The toilet paper was nearly thin enough to see through. There was no kleenex in the room. The sink stopper was missing. There was no phone in the room. There are a few things that I can only classify as weirdness, although they could probably serve as a indicators that this is no 5-star facility: The website is incomplete, with many pages showing the default web page language ("Lorum ipsum dolor sit amet..."). The contact email on the website is "info@example.com". The clerk sits in a plexiglass enclosure. There is a poster displaying the potential signs of human trafficking next to the clerk's enclosure. The bathroom has mounting hardware for fixtures that are no longer installed (former light and hair dryer mount?). The blinds were broken, missing the rod that connects all the slats together. The electrician seemed to leave the jobsite early, leaving an electrical box without a cover (possibly the reason the TV wasn't working). Would we stay there again? The Muir Woods Lodge would not be our first choice. It would not be our second choice. It would not be our third, fourth, fifth, or sixth choice, either. But if we absolutely had to stay in Mill Valley, we might be willing to stay there again, if the alternative would be to sleep in the car or on a park bench.
