It is a very quiet and peacefu. Enjoyed the stay. Looking forward to returning. Such a great break from the busy life.

Cabin #8, 3 bd. 1 ba. roughly 900-1200 sq. ft. Smack dab in the middle of the property, very quiet, quite rustic but extremely charming and unpretentious. Views of the river (roughly 1000' from our cabin) via the front deck and kitchen. The cabin was equipped with a full kitchen, small entertainment center (TV - cable, VHS/DVD player but no stereo for music). Bedrooms are moderate in size, only one closet (downstairs bedroom, which is where we stayed). The double bed was firm but comfortable. Master bedroom upstairs has a king size bed (slightly lumpy mattress), large dresser and a TV and the 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds and a small dresser. Rates off-season are $140 night (which is pretty good) but this was one of the less expensive, smaller units on the 9 cabin unit property. Rental manager is apparently very sweet (per the owners of cabin 5 - who've owned since 1966, hello!) except she seemed a bit short and unfriendly on the telephone. In person, she seems quiet and almost (a l m o s t) rude. This certainly didn't disrupt our vacation as it was (honestly) one of the best trips ever! Highly recommend just disregard the property managers tone when you call/arrive. =)

I love these cabins, I will choose to stay here again when our family gets together and rents a few of the Pinecrest Lake Resort townhouses right at Pinecrest Lake just a mile away. I prefer the quiet, riverfront setting of the rustic mountain cabins over the more urban feel of the Pinecrest townhouses. I have been coming up to Pinecrest for 40 years, and now I have a new "spot" to further enjoy the family tradition. The Rivers Resort Rentals at Strawberry offer a more genuine get away, and the river is such a perfect feature! The walk up to Pinecrest Lake, or down from the lake to Strawberry is amazing! Strolling along the river through the trees... Heavenly. Cabin 8 is really nice, and the kitchen remodel has a really great range/oven, great granite counters, a large stainless farm-style sink, and awesome ceramic tile that looks like travertine. Very surprising and well-appreciated in such a lovely rustic cabin! The balcony view towards the river is great and all out neighbors were tons of fun. My only complaint, and the reason for the missing fifth star was the bed/bedding. Compared to the rad kitchen remodel, the beds and bedding are soooooo outdated and worn thin. New mattresses and bedding would make this cabin luxe indeed. The biggest reason we made the switch is the pet friendly aspect. We travel with a super well-behaved dog, and this place was a perfect fit. Martha, the owner, was really great and incredibly accommodating from our first contact throughout our trip. What a great surprise and a lovely trip.

The room was very clean, comfy, and the amenities were great. The evening wine and apps hour was a nice touch, with a fantastic and ample selection of local wines. Breakfast was a mix of good quality items, although we would like to have had a hot vegan option (tofu scramble, breakfast potatoes, or ??). There was oat milk and soy milk so we had cereal with nuts and berries, wheat toast with peanut butter, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee/ tea. The walkway behind the hotel is the jewel here...it is SO pretty! So many birds at low and high tide. Such a pretty view of Mt Tamalpais in the distance. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway and want to be surrounded by luxury and beautiful ocean…read moreviews, this is the place to stay. We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. That's why we always come back. I want to especially thank all the staff for making us feel welcome and making our stay extra special.

Recommend parking in the private lot upon arrival as the lot does fill up. The lot is enclosed by the motel so parking may be difficult for larger vehicles. My room was in the center structure on the second floor with parking slots underneath. My room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the parking lot. I could see down and check out my car. Bathroom and bedroom were spacious but a bit dated. Bathroom is located on our left with you enter. Closet space and a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker on the right side. No USB or electrical outlet on the bedside table. I used a long USB to charge my phone overnight. Bed was comfortable. One thing I did not spot was an elevator for the second floor. Check in and out was fast and easy. The small office was locked when I checked out, but they have a walk-up window with 24-hour staff. It felt weird to walk up to the window in the dark to check out. For a quick one-night stay, location, cost, and facilities were more than adequate. I would definitely stay here again.

Before you make a reservation you need to ask yourself "am I looking for a place to sleep and shower right by the beautiful bay or am I looking for a luxurious hotel experience?" if it's the latter then this hotel is definitely not for you. I originally booked this hotel for two nights but ended up departing after one night due to the noise level of other guests. I don't think they were particularly loud however due to how the rooms are designed (they are designed more like a hostel, the rooms are literally so close to one another because they tried to fit in as many rooms as they possibly could in such an enclosed space) It was impossible to get a good night's rest. As someone who is very sleep sensitive it's imperative that I get my good hours of sleep in to properly function throughout the day. Robin who works in the front however is very warm and welcoming and will take the time to properly explain how to best utilize your room and the location of the hotel. She will also let you know the best place to park so that you do not end up getting a ticket, the hotel gets a pass from the city to park there for a fee, the fee depends on how busy It is. If I could write a review just based on my interactions with Robin - I would give this place 5 stars but the hotel itself and the room just did not live up to an ideal stay.

It was on the budget end of the scale, which might be the first clue that things were not going to be fancy-style. The property is clearly old and tired. First, let me enumerate the positives. The location could hardly be easier. It's on Highway 1 just off Highway 101 in Mill Valley. And considering the location, our room was surprisingly free of road noise, probably because it had newish dual pane windows. The bedding was clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The door lock was of a new and modern design. The clerk that checked us in was very friendly. Lastly, the toilet and sink appeared to be fairly recently upgraded. On the minus side of the ledger, the TV did not work. The bathroom is small. There were stains in the tub, and the floor of the tub flexed underfoot. The (fairly recently upgraded) toilet did not flush correctly. There are no towel hooks, rods, or bars to hang towels on. The hot/cold controls on the sink are backwards. The room smelled of stale marijuana smoke. There were scorch marks/burns on the desk. There was no breakfast as advertised on the website. There was no hair dryer as advertised on the website. Two of the ceiling light cans did not work. The walls are thin enough to hear conversations, the neighbors' TV, and more. There are numerous dings and scrapes in the walls and doors. The toilet paper was nearly thin enough to see through. There was no kleenex in the room. The sink stopper was missing. There was no phone in the room. There are a few things that I can only classify as weirdness, although they could probably serve as a indicators that this is no 5-star facility: The website is incomplete, with many pages showing the default web page language ("Lorum ipsum dolor sit amet..."). The contact email on the website is "info@example.com". The clerk sits in a plexiglass enclosure. There is a poster displaying the potential signs of human trafficking next to the clerk's enclosure. The bathroom has mounting hardware for fixtures that are no longer installed (former light and hair dryer mount?). The blinds were broken, missing the rod that connects all the slats together. The electrician seemed to leave the jobsite early, leaving an electrical box without a cover (possibly the reason the TV wasn't working). Would we stay there again? The Muir Woods Lodge would not be our first choice. It would not be our second choice. It would not be our third, fourth, fifth, or sixth choice, either. But if we absolutely had to stay in Mill Valley, we might be willing to stay there again, if the alternative would be to sleep in the car or on a park bench.
