Bathroom amenities in Room 205 (Spruce Room)
Min C.

Even though I don't have anything in the vicinity to compare it to, I probably will not return - cons heavily outweigh the pros. Pro - prime location, near downtown but slightly tucked away - decent sized room (mine was Spruce Room) - can possibly override 2 night minimum stay Con - staff are really only available until 8pm, even though one can check-in until 10pm, I could not reach anyone after 8pm. - stained, old linen (curtain, sofa) but worst part was the dampness in the sheets. I could smell my pillowcase and trust me, I don't have a great sense of smell - alarm clock is not working. Granted not many people use them anymore, maybe at least make it not show an error msg? - jet tub takes FOREVER to fill (45+ min) for a spa bath, let alone to the jet line. The water pressure seems okay, the faucet just not efficient. - no microwave - no laundry bag was provided in my room - no AC - pricey for the value ($295 a night on weekend), but I think around here it's the norm

Excellent service from the manager and host Zachariah, who educated me about the area, gracefully handled my needs prior to checking in and also has a fantastic personality anyone can resonate with. The room was clean, huge, and very accommodating for my luxurious stay at Gables. Give it a week, you won't regret it.

We stayed one night here on our way back to San Francisco. The location of the hotel is great. The condition of the hotel, not so much. The outdoor patio looked like it hadn't been swept in quite a while. And it should be stated this is a shared space where enough walk to a door in your room through a space where you also share a coffee pot(huh?) To get to the ice machine you must walk to the main entrance, go down stairs and it is located through a door in a storage closet. The room was okay and it appears bathrooms were updated a few years ago. Happy we weren't staying any longer.

My husband and I had a wonderful, memorable stay at the Gables Inn. We were there for the first night of our honeymoon in November and the staff went the extra mile to make our stay special. We arrived in San Francisco in the morning and they were able to check us in early, which was greatly appreciated. They made us feel so welcomed and safe and offered a lot of recommendations when we asked. The room we stayed in was very clean which is also important to note. They were very accommodating and held our bags when we checked out. Because of this, we were able to stick around the neighborhood for longer and have a delicious lunch and cocktails before our next flight. You truly can't beat the location at the Gables Inn. Everything is so walkable and it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

Hide a bed mattress was thin with big divets.

The hotel is in a good location for walking around town. There is construction out front and no parking. We were given a pass for the public lot a couple blocks away. There is no one onsite to help resolve issues. You coordinate check-in and then haul your luggage up the stairs. No elevator. We were in room 304. We had trouble getting back into our building after dinner. Neither key card worked. No one answered the phone. We finally got in and the issue was the doorframe was cracked and stuck. There was no breakfast or services, likely Covid. The room was in the top 3 of the worst places I've stayed. It's literally falling apart. Everything seemed dirty. See captions on photos. I can't believe this was $333 per night. There was another room on the 3rd floor that we were told was as bad as ours. I can't see how anyone could give more than a star. Basically we paid more to get a second bed which wasn't usable. Questionable wiring with the lighting coming on and off randomly, the fridge cabinet was so hot I was worried about an electrical fire, the window latches were broken and wouldn't latch (hello bugs), no AC, no screens, the curtains/blinds were stained and torn, the tv did not work, the couch smelled, it's almost comical. I definitely can't recommend.

This little boutique hotel is tucked away at the end of a very busy touristy area, overlooking the water and surprisingly very quiet and private. When you get inside the property, it transforms into a little hidden cottage somewhere in Europe or maybe it was just the nice front desk lady that set the mood hahahaa Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted. And yes, most everyone is always nice and friendly but this little Scottish lady, Gail she was the best! She made us feel like we picked the right place to be. She was funny and asked us questions to help make our stay even more enjoyable. Her recommendation to Copeta was spot on as we wanted just a little snack before our dinner reservations. Thanks Gail!! Now off the room, The Inn does not disappoint!!! Every single detail has been well thought out and the quality of amenities . The minute I walked in, I was literally blown away. We were welcomed with welcome drinks and a personal note, chocolates and flower. I loved this! Storage had plenty of space to stuff your luggage in with robes, iron and laundry bag for your convenience. Mini frig and bar avail too. Bathroom is huge and filled with Bvlgari products, great smell and plenty to use. The shower pressure is what you want after a long day of being out and if you wanted to take a bath, it's big enough to fit two adults. Included is a makeup mirror on the wall and also a full-length mirror. The bed is super comfy and pillows were different ( there are diff pillows in the closet if needed) but I had the best night of sleep away from home ever! We stopped by to get some wine and cheese before heading out to dinner and tho it was small the quality again, The view from the balcony is unbeatable. Beautiful sunrise with the best breakfast and enjoying a nice glass of wine over the moonlight was truly magical. Idk how we're ever going to top this stay. We were lucky to have Gail check us out again and she was just such a delight. I can't say enough that this is how customer service should be. I can't speak for others, but for me, I don't want to feel at home, (because I loved being spoiled here) but I do want to feel welcomed and part of and not just another customer. I want to learn about why you love this area and I want you to share all your favorite things so I can enjoy them too. Thanks for making our stay that much more memorable, Gail. Con: if I HAD to make any suggestions I would say to upgrade the bath towels. They were thin but most of all pretty rough like they'd been drying in the hot sun all day hahaha not a big deal but just in case you wanted to know about my least fav thing.

The view from our suite was beautiful, but that was the only part of our stay that felt worthy of the "best room" category. Service throughout the entire town was disappointing, and the hotel was no exception. Staff consistently seemed irritated by even simple requests and frequently hung up on us when we called the front desk. There is no microwave, no room service, and our suite required climbing roughly 70 steps each time we went up or down. Valet drivers operated recklessly, and retrieving our luggage required multiple calls before we finally asked for our keys and handled it ourselves. When they brought our car around, my partner was so concerned by the way they drove it that she photographed her rims. Dining in town was equally frustrating. Servers rushed us, were not attentive, and didn't offer dessert -- we had to ask several times. We're the type of people who enjoy long, relaxed meals with multiple courses, drinks, and dessert, but everything felt hurried and dismissive. DoorDash drivers didn't want to deliver to the hotel, and when they did, the food arrived cold. Overall, the amenities were lacking, the service was rude, and the entire experience made us feel like an inconvenience. For the price of one of the top suites, we expected at least decent hospitality. This is not a place we would return to, nor did it offer the relaxing experience we were hoping for. Ally & Penny

I came here on a work trip last year right before our wedding! I had an issue with my room during this work trip & the hotel went above and beyond to make things right. They also dropped off a dog bed and clean bowls for him to use which he loved! We also were able to have him dine with us at their restaurant. Their outdoor seating was full given the insane high 80s weather on Saturday night so they let us dine inside. Luckily, we eat fast and our pup is well trained. We almost forgot he was with us. He enjoyed a stick from their complimentary treat bag as we enjoyed a their butter rolls, a nice steak, rigatoni dish, and an ice cream sundae. We also forgot dog bowls and asked the front desk if they had anything we could use in the meantime. They ended up giving us dog bowls to use! Their crib was also available to use free of charge and the pet fee was super reasonable. The hotel itself isn't the most modern and chic, but it was clean, comfortable, and in a beautiful location. The only somewhat tricky part of staying here was the parking - it was about half a block or so away but the parking lot was often quite full and sometimes we had to park at the very far end of the lot which could be a little inconvenient but not the fault of the hotel by any means - just the nature of being smack dab in the middle of the main street of the city. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but I wish there had been more variety and additional options to choose from. It was a nice perk, but expanding the selection would make it even better. The only downside is that the hotel itself feels a bit outdated. I think it has so much potential if the property were renovated, including the hallways, bathrooms, and guest rooms. With some updates, it could easily become an outstanding hotel. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. While I don't think the property itself is quite at a 4- or 5-star level yet, the exceptional customer service certainly deserves 5 stars. The staff truly made the experience memorable. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The location and outstanding staff make it worth coming back. That said, I would love to see the hotel add a small lobby gift shop with snacks, drinks, and travel essentials to make the experience even more convenient for guests. The property has so much potential to truly stand out with some thoughtful updates and renovations. I would honestly love to renovate the entire place because I can see how beautiful it could become. The complimentary cheese and wine hour was a wonderful touch and something I really enjoyed and others as well. As for the cookies, they were good but cheap, but I think it would be even more memorable if the hotel partnered with a local Marin County bakery to offer fresh, locally made cookies or pastries. Supporting a local business would give guests a true taste of the area while creating a unique experience they'll remember. Those little details are what make a hotel stand out, and guests are more likely to remember both the delicious treats and the hotel that introduced them to them.
