Great hotel. We stayed in the modern rooms on the hill. It was absolutely gorgeous with the views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The bed was super comfortable and the room was spacious. There was a gas fireplace for heat. The bathroom was large and water pressure and temperature was good. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Definitely would come back and stay again.

I left so underwhelmed and disappointed! There's a $150 charge for dogs and finding ants on our last day just left me feeling so disappointed from the overall experience. (Our dog refused her water/treats and turns out it was because of the crawling ants) The room looked beat up and in need of tlc. We did appreciate the large space but other than that, it was mid and DUSTY. We booked as a last minute getaway for the 4th of July weekend after a very stressful time at work. We wanted to treat ourselves to what we've come to expect from dog friendly hotels with great reviews from other dog parents. Service was inconsistent; some folks went above and beyond OTHERS on the other hand made us feel less than. The point was to relax and getaway from the craziness that can be the 4th especially for dogs so I didn't have the energy to bother with names to complain about. We arrived late on Thursday night and grabbed a bite & drinks at Farley and their service was spectacular, food and wine selection excellent! It was too cold to eat outside and they let us dine inside closest to the door with our pup. We tried to make reservations online for Sula for the following evening but there was nothing available (understandable-ish, we've stayed at other establishments where tables are set aside for hotel only guests); we then asked front desk if there was anything they could do and said we could walk to Sula and ask thus we did and the young lady said there was nothing available and said even walking in might not do much... When I stepped outside, the brunch waiter said, "you need to go inside for a table" mind you I was standing outside simply waiting for my husband to come back. He didn't realize my husband was my husband and said, "Welcome sir, how can I help you" hmmm... Again, I said nothing because I really wanted to honor the purpose of our getaway. Brunch was satisfactory and though there were better tables (with a view available) the waiter sat us in the corner (once he saw my husband was with me, idk...) His service was bordering rude and for whatever reason ordering from the pup menu annoyed him and we never got our pups meal (rice and chicken) until the very end of our meal. We enjoyed the trails, the walking around Fort Bragg, we wished we'd enjoyed the complimentary bikes/cars but oh well, maybe next time, if there is a next time. Now, dinner at Sula was spectacular! Wait, but how did we manage to get a table when I was told there was no hope! Guess who went to the hostess this time and secured a table? My husband! My husband who doesn't like to ruffle feathers was left wondering "what the heck!?!?!" Again, we just wanted to decompress in a beautiful setting so we said nothing! We had a wonderful waiter, he seated us with a great view, the drinks were great, the wine menu was varied and paired well with our meal and the meal was delicious. I wish I could remember his name (his name is Francisco, my husband reminded me) because our waiter at dinner time on July 4th was so sweet and attentive and thoughtful with our anxious pup! And gave us a great recommendation as to where to catch fireworks from safe a distance without scaring our pup. As much as I wanted to leave with a great taste in my mouth, it was gut wrenching when the restaurant never filled up indoors nor outdoors (why was I given such a staunch no to availability when there was) I wish I could say that I don't know but I have a gut feeling I do know... If you've made it this far in my review, I am a fat brown Latina woman married to an Asian man. A real shame that we may never come back because the views are amazing! It is quiet and peaceful. And convenient to have a restaurant on site and main street of Sausalito be an 8mins drive away. And there were so many other friendly dog parents to meet as well. I've been sitting with these feelings for over two weeks and thought it was time to share. When we checked out (which a pro to note; they allowed us to check out late) I did show them a video of the ants and they deducted one night's hotel tax so that's that.

My family went to cavallo point over MLK weekend. Highly recommend bookjng through Amex, as you get a ton of great perks here - we got a room upgrade to a jr suite, breakfast credit at the restaurants, and early check in/late check out. Facilities are really clean and staff are attentive and friendly. Perfect for a relaxed, luxury getaway for the weekend

The food and ambiance is wonderful for a lunch with friends or a romantic dinner with loved ones. While I was initially skeptical since the restaurant is part of a lodge, I was quickly won over. We ordered the umami fries, salmon BLT sandwhich, and the French dip. The food was delicious, sizable, and fresh. It's worth the splurge. Come check out this restaurant by the water.

Stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. Even though it was a holiday weekend it was not too busy. This is the second time staying at the hotel plus several other times driving in to Sausalito have dinner at Sula the onsite restaurant. We absolutely love the historical aspect of the hotel. We have only stayed in the historical rooms. In terms of amenities they have an onsite bar and restaurant, mercantile shop, guided hikes, shuttle to Sausalito, daily yoga, cooking classes, painting classes, e-bikes, history tour and Lexus loaners. We have taken out the Lexus loaner cars, eaten most of our meals at restaurants, the history tour, paint class, shuttle to Sausalito, guided hike and rode the e-bikes. All have been top notch! The service is great! The staff is attentive and rooms are lovely. Of course the location is just amazing!! A view of the bridge, hiking to the bridge from the lodge, wonderful weather and so much to do and see.

Complacent You would expect perfection, with its sublime location commanding an equally exquisite price tag. Instead we observed how success can lead to complacency and sloppy attention to details. Front Desk - Lady at front desk won't be named because she didn't introduce herself or have a name tag - Words were courteous but delivery conveyed an air of superiority - For example, when I mentioned at checkout there were maintenance items needing attention, she kindly suggested next time I call during the stay so they can address the issues. A little presumptuous there would be a next time. Notably missing: any curiosity on what they were; but it's ok, I'll list them below - At checkin, we asked for the two rooms to be close together, as we had elderly in our party. As if doing us the biggest favor in the world, she said she'll put us in the same building. Little did we know that two rooms were separated by a flight of stairs down and up. The void of communication could use improvement - we couldn't understand why someone would assign these two rooms upon customer request, especially since there were vacant rooms all around Housekeeping - Right off the bat, toilet paper and facial tissues were nigh depleted, with no extras in the room. They obliged on request but this shouldn't be the guests' job - In the morning, housekeeping knocked on our door asking if we needed housekeeping. We said "no", thinking that was sufficient to decline housekeeping for the day - Housekeeping came anyway during the day and moved all of our belongings. We really, really did not appreciate this - we don't know how clean their hands were - During this cleaning, a personal item was lost (possibly knocked into trash the prior night?). Easily avoidable had they respected our wishes. Front desk took no accountability. They found out and explained there are two housecleaning crews, one for the morning and one for the evening. Opportunity: ask whether guests want housekeeping at check-in. Maintenance - Electrical socket in bathroom falling out of its cutout - Towel rack not securely attached - towels dropped to the floor with a gentle tug - Fireplace's 120 min timer button broken - Bathroom sink drain slow Building - Our room didn't come with a thermostat, or it was hidden very well - You always know you're in for a treat when they supply you earplugs on the nightstand. We knew what we were getting into though, so no surprise about the perpetual fog horn at night. Only possibly actionable suggestion is multiple pane windows Almost certainly management has fallen into similar complacency for this experience to have been possible. Hope this review helps.

What a spot! Tucked under Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito, this resort has everything! Had a fantastic massage with Rosa at the spa https://www.cavallopoint.com/spa/, lunch with incredible service from Lee. Also took an amazing dim sum cooking class with Tim, who is fun, knowledgeable and the food was delicious. https://www.cavallopoint.com/discover/cooking-school/ Cant wait to go back!!!

We took the ferry to Sausalito for a staycation at Cavallo. What views from over here! We had a fantastic view from our contemporary king room, from our patio, from our outdoor dining table, and even rode house e-bikes to the base, under and over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was only .7 miles away on a bike-only road. So happy we did this before dinner! The vegetable curry and seared salmon were both delicious; they let us order off both the Sula and Farley menus and had Billecart Salmon by the glass. The Huevos Rancheros at breakfast were excellent. They packed us up extra berries to-go, which was so sweet. Cavallo was such a special treat and definitely the loveliest spot I've been to in Sausalito.

If you're thinking about booking a stay here, you should consider this: why would any luxury hotel refuse to allow the AAA inspector access to the property (documented on AAA's guide as of 5/12/2023)? If we had stopped to think about this, we would have probably correctly concluded that the property is not in good shape, and booked elsewhere. Alas. I could type up a truly epic rant about our experience here, but in the interest of maintaining some semblance of brevity: this place is a dump, apparently trading solely on its location to collect room rates befitting a luxury property, while providing nothing of the sort. In our room, the air conditioners were covered in mildew, the blinds were filthy, there were various stains and water marks on the carpet and ceilings, and the shower was so disgusting we wouldn't use it. You should also be aware that, if you are staying in a "contemporary" building, there's a good chance there will NOT be self-parking available anywhere near your room (unless you have a handicap placard). Free valet is available, but if you opt to self-park there are extremely limited spots available, on the opposite end of property, in unpaved and uneven gravel lots. I would also not recommend anyone pay extra for a "Golden Gate View" here, as it seems this view category includes rooms which primarily have a view of the property, with some sliver of the bridge and/or the bay peeking around the trees and other buildings. There is also apparently no luggage room available, so if you arrive early and need to bell-check your bags, they will be sitting on a luggage cart next to the driveway (frequently unattended) until your room is available. Salvaging 2 stars, at least the bed linens appeared clean, the mattress was reasonably comfortable, and the valet and bell staff were incredibly pleasant and welcoming.

Came here for Christmas Buffett 2023 on Christmas day. 2 separate seatings: 12pm or 3pm. Cost was $165 per person and free parking. All you can eat and included glass of champagne. The two big rooms were very nicely decorated w/ reindeers, nutcrackers, snowmans and other Christmas themed motifs. Lots of different types of food offered and big dessert station. Salads, lobster raviolis, pork loin, pastas, charcuterie meats, cheese .. My favorite items were the creamy mashed potatoes, the juicy prime rib and the tower of oysters and cocktail shrimp. There was also a coffee and tea station. The servers and waitstaff were very attentive and helpful w/ refilling your water and getting you whatever you may have needed. Some may consider this a very expensive meal and question if it's worth the money. I say Christmas only comes once a year and you are definitely paying for the good food choices and ambiance. I think it was totally worth it!

I originally booked this hotel for two nights but ended up departing after one night due to the noise level of other guests. I don't think they were particularly loud however due to how the rooms are designed (they are designed more like a hostel, the rooms are literally so close to one another because they tried to fit in as many rooms as they possibly could in such an enclosed space) It was impossible to get a good night's rest. The rest of the place isn't much to see. There was one loud group of guys making noise/laughing loudly for a while down the steps from the lounges. Not sure if they were employees of the hotel or guests but it stopped after 10 minutes or so. With tight quarters you can't do much about that. The men's locker room was meh, clean, but small and kind of rank smelling like a local YMCA or something. Think that's due to it being so small and having a steam room, there's not great ventilation.
