Parking garage view from dining room entrance with noisy service closet going all the time right by rooms and dining room

This place is a dump with disgusting rooms, disgusting service and disgusting atmosphere. The hotel is literally falling apart, the furniture is old and worn and disgusting. The carpet is dirty. The front desk staff is incompetent and rude. It's noisy and you can expect mentally ill curses and sex acts screamed at your window all night. I didn't see one tree. Just falling apart doors and filth. I left early it was so gross and loud. I immediately asked for another room and was told to try it for one night because everything booked. It was horrible. left messages and spoke to 3 front desk workers as well as the police. No one cares. Everything booked. Cannot be moved anywhere at all and no refund for a $1200 reservation in a disgusting noisy room. No one here cares at all and they let me know. Then my review posts and all the sudden a very nice clean room is available for one night. I'm desperate for sleep and take it with no other options than drive 8 hours back home with whole family expecting to see our family and have a vacation. I'm hopeful until the incompetent staff calls and wakes the kid and me up an hour after falling asleep and at 9:30 at night to see if we checked in. Wtaf. The incompetent staff cannot serve customer nor communicate with each other so I pay the price with being woken up again by this moronic motel. The hallway of other room is uneven tile and grout and the service cart was super noisy from 6:30-7:30am ruining any chance for morning sleep. Make no mistake-this is not a classy hotel. This is a DUMP MOTEL. All common areas are outside and above the parking garage sharing the same air-including the dining room where the breakfast is. You have to wear a coat everywhere inside and breathe in disgusting car fumes while eating. They try to close it off with a shower curtain. Pathetic cheap dump.

Wow what an amazing little gem in Mill Valley! We had a great experience staying overnight. Customer service was superb! They had a whole bunch of complimentary goodies ie snacks for kids, small bottle of Champaign and other beverages in the room when we got there! They offered us everything we needed and were super friendly, wanting to ensure we were enjoying ourselves with our 2 kids and we truly did. Enjoyed dining nearby and checking out Old Mill Park and Dipsea stairs just a few min away on foot from the Inn.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Having said that: This is not a quiet retreat in the redwoods. It is a noisy urban motel directly overlooking a very busy and noisy street, with an array of cars, trucks, early morning street sweepers, slamming car doors, and loud bar and restaurant-goers until late at night. We asked for a quieter room but the hotel did not accommodate us. Further, there are no opening windows--only large doors which lead to a balcony overlooking the street. The room was stuffy and we wanted air. The problem was that it was raining. Because there is no awning, the rain would have come into the room if the doors were at all open.

    Hotel is among the redwoods

A lovely Inn amongst the Redwood tree yet centrally located in town, absolutely perfect in all of the ways! My fiancé surprised me with a weekend getaway in Mill Valley and choose this Inn for us to stay at. From the moment we checked in, I knew our stay would be wonderful because they greeted us with a goodie bag filled with treats(including a freshly baked cookie) and a bottle of wine. Once we headed to our room, we noticed the hotel was neatly intertwined with the Redwood trees, despite being centrally located in Mill Valley and being within walking distance from restaurants, art galleries and coffee shops, I still felt like we had our own price oasis in the woods. Each room has its own patio where you can sit and enjoy wine and conversations and if you have a larger group, there is group seating in the garden. The room itself was large and whimsical and the bathroom even had a soaking tub which is great after a day of hiking Mt. Tam or any other hiking spots the North Bay is home to. In addition to they complimentary welcome bag, they have complimentary breakfast which ranged from quiches, smoked salmon with all the fixings, smoothies and customized latte's made by the staff. It was a relaxing and lovely stay and i definitely plan on returning soon.

Great boutique hotel, sitting with the Redwoods all around was enjoyable. Large room with a balcony, fireplace. 2 room downsides are the toilets should be ADA height & need Charmin ultra soft TP instead of one ply scratchy TP. Breakfast was sensational, complete with lox, capers, red onion, cream cheeses. Nice local pastries, lots of fresh fruits. 24 hour coffee Wine reception st 5:00 PM, tastefully done. The most accommodating Ass't manager Brian was spot on. Free parking was nice. Mill Valley Inn great place to stay.

The trees just outside the cottage

We booked one of the cottages when we were in town for a wedding. The property is absolutely beautiful and the cottage was so quiet and comfortable, although it was slightly on the small side for two adults and two medium size dogs. The parking lot is teeny tiny, so be aware if you have a larger vehicle. The cottage was on the darker side due to being right next to redwood trees, but I didn't mind that at all. The sink in the bathroom was slow to drain which wasn't a big deal, and hopefully it's been fixed after I mentioned it at check out. The breakfast was on the better end of your usual continental breakfast and the staff will make you custom coffee drinks if you don't like the standard drip coffee. Would absolutely stay here again if we find ourselves up in Marin County.

Evening wine and cheese - very well done.

Last night, Marilyn and I drove about 15 minutes from our home inMill Valley tothe Mountain Home Inn located on Mt. Tamalpais. we hadnt been there for years. The Inn has a main dining room, but it's up 3 steps, and bot accessible for those of us using wheelchairs. On the main floor, there's a short bar with maybe 4-6 chairs (no lowered accessible section) and only wine and beer are served. There is an accessible bathroom on 5he main floor and maybe 6-8 small dining tables. We sat at one next to the door to the outside deck and had a wonderful view of the Bay Area! The Inn has a number of guest rooms, including one that is accessible. There is also a lower dining room for overnight guests. Our serving staff, Kelly, (I hope I got that right!) was warm, friendly, and very professional. (Thank you!!!) and the food was wonderful! Marilyn and I each had a 1/2 Ceasar Salad. Although the salad tasted more like it had a pre-made dressing, it was OK, but didn't meet the flavors of a true Ceasar Salad like I would make at the customers's table, that included a coddled egg and smashed anchovies that were then mixed with fresh-squeezed lemon juice and Lee & Perrins Sauce! But, I know that very few restaurants prepare Ceasar Salads fresh at the table, so I won't suggest that the Mountain Home Inn failed with our Ceasar Salad. Just dreaming of what used to be! Marilyn ordered the Calamari starter as her entre, and I ordered th MushroMushroom Ravioli as mine. Both were "on the mark"! The Calamari was an entree size, and clearly deep fried in fresh oil, and not overcooked. My mushroom raviolis, and the sauce, were amazing! And during drinks and dinner, a guitarist provided wonderful accoustic music, and later, sang a few songs. Whats not to like? I would say, the Mountain Home Inn hit a 9 out of 10 last night. Staff even guaranteed us a beautiful sunset over the Bay! We will return!

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always smiling. They also offered complimentary unlimited water, coffee, and tea, which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we were lucky to have a beautiful view of Mount Tam, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but I wish there had been more variety and additional options to choose from. It was a nice perk, but expanding the selection would make it even better. The only downside is that the hotel itself feels a bit outdated. I think it has so much potential if the property were renovated, including the hallways, bathrooms, and guest rooms. With some updates, it could easily become an outstanding hotel. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. While I don't think the property itself is quite at a 4- or 5-star level yet, the exceptional customer service certainly deserves 5 stars. The staff truly made the experience memorable. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The location and outstanding staff make it worth coming back. That said, I would love to see the hotel add a small lobby gift shop with snacks, drinks, and travel essentials to make the experience even more convenient for guests. The property has so much potential to truly stand out with some thoughtful updates and renovations. I would honestly love to renovate the entire place because I can see how beautiful it could become. The complimentary cheese and wine hour was a wonderful touch and something I really enjoyed and others as well. As for the cookies, they were good but cheap, but I think it would be even more memorable if the hotel partnered with a local Marin County bakery to offer fresh, locally made cookies or pastries. Supporting a local business would give guests a true taste of the area while creating a unique experience they'll remember. Those little details are what make a hotel stand out, and guests are more likely to remember both the delicious treats and the hotel that introduced them to them.

I asked the agent if there was another room above mine and was told no. I was also told the room was very quiet. These were both lies. The room was promoted and booked as a cottage, and that implies several things, starting with an understanding that it's a small free-standing building with a modicum of privacy. That was not the case. Our "cottage" was in-fact a ground-floor unit in a fourplex, with people upstairs and artificial turf in front. We shared patio space with our neighbor. He was cleaning his feet as we arrived and immediately asked if he could borrow our outdoor furniture as he was planning to entertain family, which he later did. But the biggest problem--other than the lies at the time of the booking--was upstairs. There was a toddler who spent hours doing wind sprints up and down the uncarpeted floor, and soundproofing was minimal. So, between the garden party next door and Junior Jetrod overhead, we did not have a restful late afternoon and early evening. After 9 pm or so, things quieted down enough to eventually fall asleep. Hotel staff did its best to make things better, and I was permitted to cancel a second night without penalty. But we never should have been there in the first place. We are incredibly lucky to have such a historic place perched high in the mountains. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere is welcoming, and there is something special about taking a break there after a hike and enjoying the views. A visit to West Point Inn is always a highlight of my hike.
