Came in around 5 on a Saturday. Staff was friendly and we were seated fairly quickly. Took a bit for waitress to swing around but hostess covered drinks in the meantime. Ordered the 14oz Ribeye and the Kids Grilled Cheese. I was blown away how fast the food came out. Side Salad was usual fair. Ribeye was cooked perfectly to order (medium rare) and the seasonal veggies (green beans, bacon bits, grilled onion) blew me away. Son loved his grilled cheese. Came for the first time on a Sunday for lunch, was no busy. Sat inside as it was a bit chilly and I didnt care for how close the patio tables are to the road. Got a nice window seat. Service was good throughout. Their signature cocktails are fairly cheap at only $8.00 but I noticed the liquor was on the low end for example their bourbon drink which I was interested in was made with JD so I decided to have a beer. Not too many beer choices so settled on a Racer 5 which is OK. I hope they offer a few more choices in the future especially IPAs. Started with Fried Green Beans and they were tasty albeit likely came in a frozen package but the aioli sauce was a good compliment. Followed by French Onion soup which was pretty good. Then the crab sandwich, menu says real crab I expect its real from a can but didnt matter it was very tasty! Overall a good first time we plan to return and try other things. read more

We stopped at the Branding Iron for the shrimp tacos. We didn't know the restaurant is just three weeks new. From the outside, it looks very establish. Of course it was a restaurant before, but extensive remodeling later, the new Branding Iron Saloon opened. We had the afore-mentioned shrimp tacos and the Thai chicken salad. You get three tacos, with lightly battered and perfectly cooked crispy shrimp, topped with avocado slices, slaw, and a lightly spicy mayo. My W loved them and I thought they were quite tasty, too. The Thai salad is served on chopped Romain with thin carrot stripes, green onions, and lots of crispy won ton skin strips. Chicken was sliced thin and perfectly grilled. Dressing is sweet and SPICY! My mouth is still hot as I write this. I forgot to order the dressing on the side, and it was over dressed for my taste. And I wished there was more lettuce, mostly to fill me up. There were plenty of other toppings. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere with the country music in the back ground is nice. They have a nice bar area with some big TV screens. Our waitress was perfect. Dark brown hair, black shirt and black pants and a tattoo on her neck I couldn't read. Placed us at a booth by the window. Light and not too loud. We ordered the Fried Green Beans, French Onion Soup, and Crab Salad Sandwiches. The aioli sauce with the green beans was solid. Little kick in the aioli. The French onion soup was as expected...good. The crab sandwich was delicious. I love mayo! The crab salad had celery. I love the crackle. The avocado and Swiss were a good addition. The restaurant is located down by Vida Moda which is a really good winery to taste at. So in my opinion a great place to park too! read more

Came to check out this cute town. We yelped a few restaurants and came upon Branding Iron. We decided to try it out based on the reviews. Service was fine. Good came out pretty quick. We ordered the gravy fries, chili and french onion. We were looking forward to the fries based on the description. Unfortunately they were just ok. Recommend making a reservation. This is a traditional steak & burger spot. Don't come for a culinary masterpiece, but rather a good solid meal. Full bar with some creative twists on classic cocktails. Chicken sandwich gave upgraded chick fil a vibes - pickles and all. Branded bun was a fun touch. Pork chop was cooked perfectly. Peppercorn sauce/gravy that they cover it in was so good. Twice baked potato was a wonderful side. Do not recommend the crème brûlée. What a delightful treat. On a whim, we decided to take a drive up to Murphy's. We decided to stop at the Branding Iron Saloon. It was mid-afternoon and we were promptly offered a choice of seating. Opting for the bar area seating to also catch up on the college final games. Service was great; fast, friendly and efficient. We started with the Brussels sprouts off of the appetiser menu signature cocktails. All of which were wonderful. The bar tender personally came over to our table to check in with us! We went here for my birthday and my husband saw someone having the Kobe burger and wanted to have one.Finally got there to try it he had the Kobe burger and I had the Calaveras burger. I thought the Calaveras burger was great only problem is I like everything on my burger and once I got onion tomato etc on top had trouble getting it in my mouth. Was only able to eat half brought the rest home.My husband eat the rest in the morning.He said it was really good but the Kobe was better.The fries that came with the burger are really good we didn't even use catsup .And if you like chocolate do get one of the chocolate desserts we have tried two different ones and they are great.Service is also excellent. read more

Went there with 2 of my other friends and we all ordered a rib eye steak, 2 bone in and one without. The side salad that came with the meal was so small it was laughable a few pieces of lettuce and some tomatoes and croutonsThe twice baked potato was also very small, it was like the potato was cut into a quarter instead of A half. The one bone in ribeye had so much fat we had to send it back and the other ribeye was over cooked. All three of us asked for medium rare. Also my dirty martini was like a half of A martini and was not asked weather I preferred gin or vodka. My steak was the only decent one. Overall the service was good but left disappointed. Great new food joint in Murphy's. It's new and definitely growing pains are present. I get the feeling the owner knows food but maybe not much about running a mid-size restaurant. The food was incredible. All the waitresses were working their butts off trying to please everyone but the owner or managers rules only made the jobs harder. The smiles they should have in their faces were only present when they served their customers. When they looked away, they were not enjoying it. A few tips (I usually get paid for this): 1. The bartender was great but she was literally doing three jobs at once. You could see it on her face. I told her she was incredible and that she needed a bar back. Her face turned into a big thank you but I could see her exhaustion. She knew she was holding up drink orders for the larger restaurant but she was kicking drinks out like a pro, washing the restaurant glasses and cleaning up her bar and keeping up with the chattering bar flys. Amazing. The restaurant is large but they don't have seating for groups over about 6. This is a tourist town. You need to cater to all sizes and you have the room to do so. WTF? The waitress tried to accommodate us but said she has to get the owners OK to move chairs around. Give me a break. Put some small high tops with stools and pack that bar - serve drinks to those waiting. Maybe use some outside space for waiting customers and again, get them cocktails! The food was good so we went a few nights later and it was the same issues. My only food issue was those in my party that ordered baked potatoes and went for the fully loaded option ($4 more I think) got a small spoonful of sour cream and a sprinkle of cheddar - and I don't think any butter. All of them - not just an antidote. If you're basically a steakhouse you better know what a "Fully-loaded" baked potato is and if you're charging $4 MORE for it and don't deliver - people get pissed over a fricking potato and you lose despite the other food being perfect. Whomever is the owner, let those ladies do what they need to do and get the hell out of their way. Give them the tools and latitude they need and watch your profit margin take off. Don't put road blocks on strong, intelligent and very capable women. In my experience they will eventually break you and you, the owner, will end up being the butt of all jokes. If you're a customer - go and enjoy and make sure you provide feedback to the waitresses so they can forward it to whomever runs the place. Sometimes they don't know and they want to. They need to know so they can Improve their service. Don't be shy but don't be an asshole either. This owner may be very good but to be fair, may not know. It's a great place, nice customers (locals are awesome) and wonderful staff. I recommend it. read more

First I want to start with the good. Brussel Sprouts are amazing (unfortunately, $12 for 8 halves or 4 whole) asparagus incredible, (again only 5 on the plate). My husband and I split the 10 rib dinner. Ribs were overcooked and several of them were black. Very dry. I did let the owner know, she was kind enough to deduct $23 from the total. My husband was hungry and ate three of the ribs. I'm disappointed, I really wanted to like this new little place here in Murphys. Understand they have only been opened two months, so in all fairness will need to come back and try it again. Please, please, please, be so much better. Literally the worst side salad I've ever seen (few large pieces of iceberg lettuce with 3 quartered grape tomatoes & 4 or 5 tiny croutons)...and I was excited about the garlic mashed potatoes, but they were barely warm and tasted like they had been on the stove all day--no taste at all. I prefer to eat outside but it was a bit too warm. We both ordered the Tri-tip salad. There was a measly 2-3 ounces of steak which was delicious, thinly sliced & tender. My only complaint is how small their portions are. I don't have a big appetite but could easily have eaten 2 entire salads. Luckily it was only lunch & not dinner. I booked a reservation on a Tuesday for Friday night at 8pm. On the very Friday they texted me to say they would only be serving us burgers. Now had to scramble to make other plans at last minute. When I said I would have appreciated knowing g a bit sooner there reply was no problem we will cancel your reservation. They could care less . I have been to the Branding Iron twice since it opened. Both times the food was good and so was the service. Ambiance is okay. The AC seems to blow right down on the tables making it a bit chilly. My only suggestion as far as the food would be to work on the salad. Iceberg lettuce with some croutons is in the past. Green lettuce would be a plus. Other than that, very enjoyable. Pros: -Ribeye steak was cooked well and a generous portion at a decent price. Cons: -The service we experienced was some of the worst we've had in a long time. The table we sat at outside was wobbling a lot so we asked if we can get something to stabilize it, our waitress kept forgetting so we had to keep asking and eventually had to just ask someone else. -When our entrees came, our sides were also forgotten,and again, had to ask a different waitress to check the status of them. It didn't come out until we were halfway through our meal already. -The water somehow tasted like dirty dish water that we ended up having to ask for a different beverage. I'm not sure if they're even washing their dishes properly at this point. -There were a lot of flies in their outdoor seating area and kept landing on the food incessantly. -Tipping felt forced, they hover in front of you staring and waiting when it came time to pay. I honestly wonder if the other 5 star reviews are even genuine and unbiased. Overall, would not return or recommend to anyone. read more
