Wowza! I loved this place a LATTE! Chocolatte is cozy and decorated with a sophisticated homey feel. This location specializes in coffee, but they also dabble locally made pastries, and gourmet chocolate truffles. This trip was merely focused on black gold. I tagged along with a friend of mine, who was in need of a caffeine fueled pick me up. I had hotel coffee in hand as we walked in and were immediately assaulted with smiles, kindness, and a unrelenting need to get me to drink GOOD iced coffee and not the mud in my cup. The owner, Victoria, quickly got me a cold brew coffee without any almond milk and told me to try it without any of the fixin's, I'm so glad I did! Smooth taste with light caramel flavors, no bitterness, and a amazing finish. The perfect start to any day! Shout out to the amazing staff here; Victoria, Bree, and Jessica? Can't say enough good things about this coffee place. The customer service is great and the coffee is delicious. It's made w/lots of thought and care. Plus, the place is packed. That is always a great sign in any restaurant. Lots of lovely seating, too. The owner is so friendly and is very educated about her product. She spent time giving us tips for our home latte machine, too. We loved the entire experience and I will be telling everyone I know who is visiting the area to go grab a great cup o' Joe here. Love this old building with a rich history in Sutter Creek! Service was efficient. Food is always good here. We had the quiches and both were delicious. Their brewed coffee is as good as their mixed coffee drinks. We would definitely go again as it is smack dab in the middle of Sutter Creek where we like to shop when we visit. read more

Chocolatte was one of the best assets of Sutter Creek Main Street for years! As a Sutter Creek resident, I have enjoyed their specialty drinks which really got us through the pandemic in particular! I have sent many, many clients of mine, both locals and out-of-towners to Chocolatte over the years. However, something has changed in the coffee! From "special" it has gone to "ordinary". My clients noticed for sure because when I used to follow up with "so how was Chocolatte?"...but responses have gone from "amazing!" to luke-warm "good." I know the beans were from "Chocolate Fish" but they have definitely gone downhill. I no longer make a special trip to Chocolatte in the mornings, because, with the exception of their amazing sweet coffee drinks, I can make this "ordinary" espresso coffee at home for half the cost. Since this place opened, I always thought they were just coffee. Walked in with a friend this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Purchased some delicious candy, picked up a coffee and just soaked up the ambiance. Would have given 5 stars, but the variety of pastries was limited when I arrived and while the staff was efficient, I didn't find them overly friendly. I really enjoyed this place. I was early for shopping on Main Street & was looking for a hot drink & something to nibble on while waiting for the shops to open. The smell coming from this place drew me in! I thought it was just a chocolate shop but no, it's so much more! I had a regular coffee with their smoked bacon & cheese quiche it was so good. My favorite part was the handful of fresh blueberries at the end to cleanse the pallet with some freshness. Ambiance was great, love the layout & decorations and it was nice and warm on a cold winter morning. I will be frequenting this place more often! The fact that I had to venture all the way to the confines of the quaint hamlet of Sutter Creek, way way way up in California's Gold Country is not lost on me, but I can't complain when you produce some of the finest coffee drinks and chocolate treats in all of Northern California. Yes, the ability to create delectable sweets treats and gourmet coffee drinks in the heart of California's Gold Country is definite possibility. The owners of Choc-o-Latte are Victoria and Doug Spainhower and during my time I got to know Victoria and her hard working crew. The Spainhowers were looking for a place to operate where they could interact with the entire town so they only opened Choc-o-Latte about two years ago. I love the atmosphere of their establishment which exudes Victorian elegance which is also inspires in their coffee and chocolate products. They have beautiful accents such as gilded copper accents that are complimented by humongous curios filled with gourmet chocolates in their cozy back drawing room where you can sit for a spell or simply enjoy a delectable bite. This is an old-town pharmacy meets an elegant dining establishment which is all juxtaposed against the community of Sutter Creek's rustic environs that makes for a pure slice of Americana. The first time I popped in, owner Victoria was so welcoming, telling me to return any time I could and her talented team of baristas could make any drink you asked of them. I told her I tended to like my drinks cold and blended. So she told me to order the mocha and made sure I got it blended. With your drink you also receive a rolled up wafer stick filled with subtle yet sweet icing. I didn't want too much sugar so I saved it and a couple days later it had it and I was like...oh my goodness I need more of this and why didn't they sell this in their cafe? To accompany my drink, since I was leaving for an extended road trip home, I bought the rocky road chocolate from the counter and a sealed bag of almond toffee. My only regret was once I ate both of those treats that I didn't buy any additional selections! Because they both tasted awesome. Not too sweet, and so memorable with zero remorse over devouring everything all by myself. The operators of the Choc-o-Latte say their ultimate goal is to bring back those special occasions of local neighborhood engagement, including open books and the wafting aromas of coffee beans. Given the bustling crowds it has drawn in since they've opened, the community is more than ready to handle everything that Choc-o-latte has to offer! read more

The staff is super friendly and charismatic, and when going through a business rush, they go out of their way to compensate even if they have no reason to. Also, the entire ambiance is gorgeous. This is my favorite local coffee place by far. Every time I'm in town for one of my jobs, I stop by and indulge in a pastry and a Blended Chai Latte as a pick-me-up before heading to my other job. Choc-o-latte takes home the prize of the BEST cup of coffee I had during my time in Amador County. And Sacramento and Tahoe for that matter. The black coffee was top quality, perfectly brewed and extracted and just what I needed during a busy weekend in the area. Aside from the top-notch cup of joe, the owner Victoria was super friendly as were all the baristas. It's the kind of place that leaves you glowing as you head out, and not just because your heart rate has gone up 50 beats from coffee. The funny thing about this review is I didn't even try the chocolate or their classic chocolate themed coffee drinks and they still earn all five of these stars. Small-town coffee in my neck of the woods (midwest) can be on par with a six-month old bag of frozen Folgers, but here they absolutely knocked it out of the park and I'd go out of my way to make it back. read more

I love the perfect balance between modern and vintage of this sweet coffee shop. I used to come here in high school when it was an ice cream shop, I love that they have subtle nods to the nostalgia of this location to what it once was. I imagine many locals appreciate that. The chai is soooo good. I usually get a mocha here, but impulsively switched it up & love that they offer a good variety without an overwhelming menu. The gals working are always so sweet, I only know Peyton by name, but no matter who is working, you can always tell they enjoy what they do & care about customer service. Sometime baristas forget that it's not about just pumping out drinks... Chocolatte is efficient, but the customers here are not the type rushing off to work like most coffee shops, they are here to shop, explore & enjoy their day. What a sweet space to enjoy a Chocolatte, their namesake (which comes with a free cookie), unrushed, with excellent service, and in a setting that transports you to a fine European cafe (see photos). The Chocolatte (similar to a black and white), with soy milk and over ice with whipped cream ... was divine... rich, and not lacking in creamy, chocolatey deliciousness. Play a game of chess, rummage through a (nowadays) elusive real newspaper, chat with friends, or people watch from a window table. Location - What a cute street! My parents love to gamble, so they convinced us to go to Jackson for the buffet. Since we don't gamble, the 3 hour wait felt pretty long to just sit around in smoke. So I yelp'd the closest bakery. This place came up. When you turn onto this street, its like going into a completely different area. Cute mom & pop shops, a CHEESE shop, wine tasting, a bed & breakfast. Really cute. Checked out a few shops, then stopped in here for a hot drink and a snack. Two seating areas, the front main area has some tables and cozy chairs, little bar area that faces the street it you want to people watch. We sat in the back room where they have a little display for chocolates. Nice and cozy little area. Service - Really friendly. Checked in on us and took away empty plates. Food - Delicious! And plenty of other things to try. Had a hot tea (so many options, and loose leaf). My husband got some hot coffee drink. I dislike coffee, so I had a sip but didn't like it. I love Chocolatte!!! Just moved to Sutter Creek from the Bay Area and I'm telling you Chocolatte's iced lattes are the best I've ever had!!! Also, the baked goods are insanely good. My favorite item is the pecan pie bars!! So yummy!! Also, everyone who works there always remembers me and asks about my family (it's amazing that they are able to recognize customers even with a mask!)- the staff is so beyond nice and positive/fun to talk to. Even when they are busy the staff always has a smile on their face! One of my new favorite places. Chocolatte is one of the best shops you'll find in idyllic downtown Sutter Creek, and that's not just because they make a great cup of cocoa or coffee. Their drinks were only part of the great experience that turned out to be the perfect remedy to a cold and dreary November day. I've visited a lot of dessert and coffee shops and very few have the cozy atmosphere that I found here. Cute decorations adorn the walls and the tiny shop feels very homey. But the atmosphere is just one part of it. The staff were super friendly despite a line of people. They even got into the holiday spirit by wearing matching pajamas to work! Cap it all off with a tasty mocha and I couldn't have complained if I wanted to. It's small businesses like this that really add to the charm of these lovely little towns. My family and I stopped in during the Farmers Market, they were busy but their line progressed quickly. The espresso drinks (hot and cold) and Italian sodas are on point. The pastries are moist and delicious. I really enjoyed the staff who were nice and courteous. We will definitely be coming back.
