Stopped by Munnerlyn's on our way back from Silver Lake. Great afternoon sweet treat. The ice cream is delicious. We had two cones with Banana ice cream and one with the a Smores flavor. The ice cream was very rich and creamy. A regular scoop was big. Service was friendly and efficient. Bring your friends, we would definately stop by again when we are in the area. read more

Try the Kit Carson Crunch! It's a local favorite. Just recently tried the Rum Raisin, at first I was skeptical because welllll raisins lol It was very good! Have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Every flavor is made in-house and they are original and oh so good! The girl who helped us was so sweet! She gave us extra big scoops since we drove over 2 hrs to get there just for the ice cream. I had a sampler of 6 flavors-Mango with Chamoy, Peach, Butterbrickle, Peanut butter Cookie, Jungle Love, and Pumpkin. My husband had Rocky Road and Circus. It was all sooo yummy!!! We have been to Munnerlyn's a handful of times now as we are new to the area. Every time we have been it has been great! So many great and delicious flavors to choose from! If you've just finished a day riding the mountains at Kirkwood and you're driving back to the Bay Area, you need to stop by at Munnerlyn's Ice Creamery! In the summer, when the weather is hot, Munnerlyn's is the place to go! Did I even talk about the ice cream yet? Munnerlyn offers amazing home-made flavors that are memorable. I love Rocky Road so I had to have it. I got the double scoop on a waffle cone and let me tell you that was gone within minutes. Got our ice cream, got in the car and drove down the street for our burgers and fries. That's how long it lasted... It was delicious and will def be back for the other flavors! Wonderful ice cream, handcrafted on site in Pine Grove. There is always a wide variety of flavors to try. I had 2 scoops - one dark chocolate with zinfandel and one salted caramel. Both were terrific - creamy and rich - no artificial ingredients or shortcuts here! Hubs had a scoop of peanut butter pretzel and a scoop of lemon custard. He loves lemon. I usually, but this was delicious. We told the young man behind the counter how good it was and he told us that they squeezed fresh lemons just this morning to make it. All four flavors we tried were really good - but the lemon custard was transcendent! We will be back as really good ice cream is hard to find. BTW - the young man working the counter was helpful, patient and friendly. High marks for quality customer service as well as great ice cream! read more

Oh I treated myself today again driving home SR88 in Pine Grove, CA. I always stop for some fresh ice cream made here. Munnerly's Ice Cream is a little stop on the side of the road. A few tables/umbrellas outside for eating because there is no inside eating at all. Great place. Great Ice cream and nice friendly staff! I had two scoops of Kit Carson Krunk (light coffee ice cream with chocolate almond toffee) on a large fresh waffle cone. Very tasty! I love this place. 5* all the way. Came to camp at Gold Country and stopped by at this homemade ice cream shop. Service is fast, despite it being a bit busy. I liked the lemon but didn't love it. I got it since it was recommended by one of the employees. I really loved the toasted almond ice cream though! There were real almonds inside and it was creamy while crunchy. A great snack stop if you are driving by and craving some ice cream goodness at a good price! This small ice cream shop is cute and quaint. I only wish they had some more seating since they just have one bench and a few bar stools inside so there isn't a space to eat. They rotate their flavors so you're always bound to stumble upon something new. The quality of ice cream is on par with the average ice cream shop. It taste good and does the job, it's nothing crazy impressive like the more premium ice cream shops that use more premium ingredients - however that's why their prices are cheaper! For the price, it's a great deal. It's a good size, I got the double junior and that's the same size as one scoop of their regular but you can get two flavors. I recommend for anyone with that sweet tooth craving and I would definitely stop by again if I was in the area! read more

We stop here almost every time we are up this way on the way to or back from the snow or Tahoe and you should too!! They make fresh ice cream with several rotating flavors. The ice cream is sooooo good, creamy and decadent with the best flavors to choose from! You can order cone, cup or quarts. We recently had the cake batter, banana pudding and caramel apple pie. Taste is in the heart of downtown. With two menus and seating areas (the dining room or bar) you must order off the menu where you sit (no cross ordering which is great). Sit at the bar for the bar menu or sit in the dining room for a fixed price menu only but with fantastic choices and you can even get multiple section dishes which they scale down the generous size of a single dish so you can try more food (genius strategy). We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and we went all out like I hit the lottery (don't we all wish?). I started out with the caviar service which came with these incredible potato cakes rather than the usual mini Bellinis. Then we had oysters on the half shell, perfectly shucked, clean and no grit. Nothing ruins an oyster experience like a grit of shell or sand. None of that here! My photos show the entire meal which rivaled many restaurants I have been to in San Francisco. This is a Michelin level dinner but at a reasonable price considering the portions (LARGE) unlike The French Laundry where you get 80% less food for 75% higher prices. This is a place not to miss and is now my #1 pick for January 2026 for a high end quality meal with white glove service in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. I will be returning to check the bar menu which has completely different food. The menu will change so what I listed might not be on the menu but the Mushroom Cigars have always been on the menu for years. It clearly is a crowd pleaser and there is nothing here to critique other than you want to just keep eating! 5 Stars 1 Michelin Star (needs to be awarded here in my book!)
