Always stop by whenever I'm up there, great people, yummy treats, and a true pleasure to share these pictures!!

We saw this off the side of the road on the way to a hike and decided to stop by! The staff were extremely friendly! They were eager to answer our questions and even gave us free apple cider donuts!! (First-time customers get free donuts! ). Stepping inside, you are immediately greeted with a warm, cozy environment where the air is filled with apple smell that just reminded me of Christmas! We bought a bottle of their apple cider and an apple fritter. We are in love!! Definitely coming here every single time we're in the area. I think we have found our new tradition!

Stumbled upon this place on the way to Calaveras Big Trees, and ended up stopping by on the way home. I'm so glad we gave this spot a chance because we had a wonderful experience! They gave us a sample of their apple cider and it was delicious. It was super fresh with 0 added sugars or any other additives, which is what sold us. Also, their apple cider taste much better than Apple Hill's!! So we bought two quarts of apple cider, and an apple fritter which was the best apple fritter I've ever had! They also gave each of us a free apple donut for being first time visitors, that was super nice of them. Can't wait to come back!!

Omg what an adorable spot! We stopped here (twice) on our recent trip to Arnold. We got their apple cider doughnuts, apple fritter, turnovers and a couple cookies, all were delicious! The apple fritter and doughnuts were so good that we had to come back and get more on our way home. The cookies were crispy and flavorful. The doughnuts and turnovers were a perfect combo of sweet but not too sweet. The fritter was a little sweet but it was fluffy and yummy nonetheless. We also picked up some apples and stone fruit with were all delicious! We will be back.

Small shop with all sort of fun things to snack on. The employees are super friendly. I asked what was in the Harvest turnover and the girl said with a smile the four fruits in it. After she said that, I spot the sign right in front of my face that says "what's in a harvest turnover?". They probably get that question a lot! We had an apple cider donut and an apple turnover, which we heated up the next day for breakfast. Both were good. The star of the show, in my opinion, was the hot spiced apple cider. Perfect for a cold day, not too sweet, and the spices were strong but not overpowering. If we lived closer, I would definitely try their other items like the regular apple cider and their enormous pies!

Spent a fun long weekend in the Murphys area and stopped by this busy roadside shop. It ended up being way more than your typical fruit stand, and offered a full bakery and snack shop inside. People were getting the huge apple pies and the cinnamon donuts. I opted for some of their chile limon corn nuts and a cinnamon donut, while our friends picked up an apple pie, a truly enormous apple strudel, and a jug of apple cider. That cinnamon donut will haunt my dreams! It was still warm from the fryer, with a perfectly crispy exterior and pillowy soft cinnamon cake interior. This donut alone was worth the stop. The awesome corn nuts were also demolished that night, as they were packed with seasoning reminiscent of spicy limon Cheetos, in the best way. The pie and the strudel were both good, but the apples, while very fresh, remained a little firmer than I'm used to in such desserts. The next day I had to come back before leaving the area. I was bummed that they didn't have donuts yet, but instead had apple fritters and blueberry fritters! I'd never seen a blueberry version before, so I took one home. It was perfect, big enough to share and so delicious. Honestly, why are other donut shops sleeping on blueberry fritters?? In short, stop by if you're even within an hour's drive, and get fresh cider and cinnamon donuts that will honestly kind of ruin you.

I love picking up a pie when I'm in the area. I had the "Harvest" pie that had apples, apricots, peaches and pears. For $25 you can't go wrong. It's a bit hefty too. I've been dropping by here for years. With vanilla ice cream it's delicious. They also sell fruit, apple juice and jams etc. Come on by!

The best donuts in all the land. Seriously, these are the best donuts I've ever had. I can tell I'm getting close to The Red Apple from a mile away just by the incredible smell wafting along Highway 4. Every time I'm in the area, stopping here is a must. The donuts are absolutely perfect!! Hot, fresh, not overly sweet or greasy. Just right. And the smell? Honestly, that might be the best part. I've only ever tried their donuts (and cider, which is also amazing!!), but that alone is enough to make this place unforgettable. If you're anywhere near, do yourself a favor and stop by The Red Apple!

I got a donut and a berry fritter. Both were cold and I had to ask for it to be heated up. I've been to other apple farms in that area and I liked their baked goods more and they were more fresh.

    Delicious apple turnover

This is the BEST apple turnover I have ever had! Very flaky buttery pastry, not your typical generic puff pastry. Not too sweet, with minimal Icing and a tad of nuts on top. Not to take away from the overall greatness of the turnover. Perfect amout of apple filling and served warm! So delicious! Even before you open the the door you can smell warm apple pie. I also tried the apple fritter. Not the best I've had, just ok. They need to be a a little more doughy as they were flat and a little hard. The flavor was good but I prefer more cinnamon. I also got a quart of apple cider which I thought was fresh pressed but sadly it was pasteurized, still it tasted ok for what it is. The service was friendly and I only had to wait about few minutes. I'll definitely come back when I am in the area.

Coolest grapes I've ever seen and yummy, too!

The Red Apple is a great little farm stand conveniently located on Hwy 4. They have so many great things to enjoy! You MUST try one of their delicious APPLE DOUGHNUTS (better than Apple Hill), fruit fritters and turnovers, fresh baked cookies, fresh apple cider, lemonade, and lots of cute novelty gifts! They have lots of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables to choose from and their pricing was very reasonable. The service and staff are friendly, the ambiance is farm-quaint, and there is plenty of parking. The Red Apple is a must have!!

At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

We went into many of the shops in the town of Murohy and we did not have a bad experience. This particular store was ran by one woman and she was kept busy. And if you'd like you can purchase a little bag of bread to dip which I highly recommend. If you like any of the flavors that you've chosen, you can then purchase a full bottle. This was a new experience for me. I had never tried something like this before and was pleasantly surprised. I ended up purchasing a bottle of the traditional vinaigrette. I would definitely go back to Murphy's just for this experience as well as the other shops in the area but this particular location was really nice. Outside there was a seating area and a pretty little garden nearby which added to the ambiance and overall experience of the taste testing.

On my recent trip here - one of the staff members went out of their way to select the perfect container of fresh raspberries for me. As I was checking out - a different sales clerk - commented on my portable fan and we both bonded over "running hot" throughout the day. It was a lovely personable interaction that made me smile and it reminded me of how important it is to support our local grocery stores and community. It fell well in line with a quote that I shared out recently from Paul Avellino: "It hits different when your grocery haul comes with eye contact, a conversation, and food that was picked just hours before you bought it. You're not just stocking your fridge, you're participating in a quiet rebellion. Every bunch of carrots, every dozen eggs, every handmade loaf is a vote for a food system rooted in care, not convenience. When you buy from local farmers, bakers, beekeepers, and makers, you're not just eating better--you're keeping money in your community. That $20 doesn't vanish into some corporate profit margin. It helps a farmer fix their truck, a baker buy flour, a family pay rent. It circulates, it nourishes, it sustains. Supporting your local economy isn't charity. It's strategy. Because when local businesses thrive, the whole community grows stronger, from the soil up. & " - Paul Avellino Trust.
