They have a great flavor selections of balsamic vinegar as well and olive oils. One of my favorites places to go when I'm in Murphy, Ca. For a dollar, you can taste a total of 6 flavors of balsamic vinegars or olive oils. They also have different varieties of pastas with assorted flavors. We had a new person helping us out and he got the order wrong. By the time i got home, it was way to late to return it. Lesson learn, I should have checked the wrap up bottles. I had been there many times and it's the first time that it happened. The place is bright and clean. The people are friendly. I just hope the prices don't keep going up and the bottles don't get any smaller. read more

This is definitely a touristy town. It definitely gives off Hallmark movie vibes! And just like in the Hallmark movies, there is really great customer service. We went into many of the shops in the town of Murohy and we did not have a bad experience. This particular store was ran by one woman and she was kept busy. Since I was there with a bridal party, we decided to do a taste testing which is relatively cheap. She'll give you a clipboard and you get to choose six different types of either oil or vinaigrette. And if you'd like you can purchase a little bag of bread to dip which I highly recommend. If you like any of the flavors that you've chosen, you can then purchase a full bottle. This was a new experience for me. I had never tried something like this before and was pleasantly surprised. I ended up purchasing a bottle of the traditional vinaigrette. I would definitely go back to Murphy's just for this experience as well as the other shops in the area but this particular location was really nice. We love coming to this place every time we are in the Murphy's area! They always take such good care of us at Marisolio. Everyone there is more than happy to talk with us and answer whatever questions we may have as well as making personalized suggestions. The store itself is so cute and well decorated, definitely giving off happy Italian vibes with its warm atmosphere. Tastings here are a must! They let you taste 6 of their delicious oils/vinegars for $3 and waive the fee if you spend $30 which honestly is such a fair deal. They also have bread available for 50 cents which makes the tasting that much more enjoyable. Every time we go we have a new favorite and this time it was the Soyu Cucumber White Balsamic Vinegar. This is a long review but as someone who has gone here a long time and is a local here in Murphys I'm so upset. This is the best olive oil in the area. But after this last experience, we will no longer be going here. The last few times, the customer service has been so bad. I'm not sure if it is the manager but the older "manager" lady is so rude. She treats locals like they are not worth being there and are a waste of her time; when every time we're spending more then $50 there. Most recently my mom went in there to buy bottles as Christmas presents. She bought 3 bottles of olive oil. They gave her two balsamic bottles on accident. She called back to return them and this lady BLAMED her for not checking her receipt to see they were balsamics. This is terrible customer service. Then when my mom called, the lady reluctantly said we could return them. I went in today to bring the bottles back and get the situation resolved, and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. She later found the return receipt that had a note to do the return. We had to call my mom to figure out the situation and while this lady is on my phone, she blames my mom for not checking the receipt again, and that this is not something they usually do, and that it is bad business for them that they have to do a return. You don't say that to customers, especially when you're the one who made the mistake is the first place. It was so ridiculous and I do not enjoy going in there. Talk to your employees or shadow them. You shouldn't just treat locals like crap because we live here. We're getting olive oil at the grocery store now. read more

I just want to say a simple "Thank you" to these folks. We had a cabin there in Murphy's, CA. It is one of my favorite places in the world and as Mayberry perfect as they come! When there, there are many wine tasting boutiques which are all fun, but for something a little different, Marisolio Tasting Bar is a must visit! Their Balsamic vinegar and gourmet olive oils are fun to sample while cruising main street. They will even hep by suggesting pairings. My favorite is the Fig Balsamic! You've not had balsamic until you've tried this one! Sadly after a forced move by our employer, we had to give up our place in Murphys. I will miss the shops, families and concerts in the park. The Bad: I was bummed out that they don't stock any olive oils from Calaveras County where they are located. Support local growers people. WTF? The Ugly: We did an olive oil tasting. I've been to this tasting bar twice and even though it is expensive ($66.00 for a bottle of olive oil) I don't mind paying for quality. What really bothers me is the scam. They have a card with 15 stars and when all are punched, you get a "free" bottle of olive oil worth $17.00. So basically they are overcharging by $!.13 per star which is refunded when all the stars are punched. It takes most people several months to reach fifteen stars and the tourists who don't come back are stuck with the overcharge. So, the owner is keeping the overcharge or receiving an interest free loan. Of course, the owner doesn't pay $17.00 for the bottle, so he/she is making out like a bandit. I enjoyed the tastings ! And the pairings advice so much that I exceeded my initial budget. Went there for the first time today and I've never been to a olive oil place that charges for tasting.I love trying new olive oils but I just couldn't pay for a tasting even if it's cheep .I bought two small bottles to try but I'm the type of person who likes to try a lot of flavors and if I like it I'll buy all the flavors I like and the medium or large bottles depending on how much I like it .It was busy when we were there so nobody really helped us and when I went to pay I almost left because it took the cashier a long time to ring people up and I was second in line .My girlfriend I was with left buying nothing since she didn't want to pay for tasting and you definitely lost money on me since I couldn't try all the ones that sounded good to me .Just my opinion but I think you'd make more money if you had free tasting read more

This place is awesome! Not only to they have great products, but their customer service is the best. We purchased several olive oils a few weeks back, and the person who rang up our order somehow bagged the wrong items. We didn't notice the discrepancy until we were home (several hours drive away), so I called up to see if they could correct the problem. I spoke with Roberta, the manager, and not only did she offer to replace the shipment, she said we could keep the incorrect items. It gets better. When the package arrived, it was clearly damaged because the box was soaked in oil. Our mail carrier suggested that we return it unopened, which we did. I called back and spoke with Roberta again, and she immediately shipped us a replacement order, without even waiting for the return. Talk about exemplary service! read more

Olive oil and balsamic vinegar are one of my favorite combinations. I recently heard about a new olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting room opening in Murphys. I eagerly anticipated the opening. Even though it has been open for a few weeks now, I finally had my first opportunity to pop in for a tasting. Marisolio is located in the space once occupied by French Hill and La Bella Rosa tasting rooms. Before that it was home to Jillian's. As I entered the room, I noticed the walls were lined with steel and ceramic crocks containing numerous varieties of olive oil and balsamic vinegars. Tasting dispensers labeled with the contents sat next to the larger crocks. Here is how it works: you can either sample on your own or one of the helpful employees will suggest complementary pairings. The samples are served in little plastic cups for you to taste. So many varietals to choose from! White truffle oil, black truffle oil, chipotle olive oil, champagne vinegar, wild mushroom and sage olive oil just to name a few. In the end, I selected an 18 year old aged balsamic vinegar and a basil olive oil. I can't wait to try them with a freshly baked baguette! They freshly package them for you when you make your purchase. My folks had been before and wanted me to experience the wide variety, which inevitably meant that we would be making a purchase. Mom and Dad have a selection at home but Mom selected two more to add to the home selection, a Thai/Lemongrass Balsamic and a Wild Cherry Balsamic. Being stellar parents they insisted I select one to be shipped to my home in Oregon. We were informed that we could have free shipping if we filled a case, however the price of a case was bit more than we were ready to shell out as it takes 6 small or 4 medium to fill it, which amounts to about $60 worth of great tasting goodness. One of the ladies told us it would be $8 to ship the medium sized bottle my parents wanted to treat me to so I selected a superb tasting Juniper Berry Balsamic. We left pretty satisfied with our purchases. The following day I received a phone call from the sales person who let me know that in the hustle and bustle of the weekend they had forgotten to charge us the shipping, I said no problem and whipped out my credit card to pay, only mildly shocked when I was informed it would be $10 to ship, Since my folks were nearby when I was taking the call I did not want to spoil our day by arguing so I proceeded to provide the billing info and got off the phone. This would have been a 5 star review except for their shipping prices, and the change in the price for shipping from what was originally quoted. If they would raise their customer service level they would have received 5 stars from me for sure. I should not be paying $10 to ship a $14 or $15 bottle of awesomeness, mistakes happen, but when they do, the business should be paying the price, not me. I don't want or expect anything for free, but I would have liked to pay the $8 I was quoted. I still recommend this a great place to go, sample and buy from, just watch out for your pocketbook, and maybe be prepared to double and triple check your receipt... and for those of you who are shipping, go for the case and get free shipping or have them sign your shipping quote before you leave. read more

With all the wineries in Murphys, it would be easy to miss Marisolio and that would be a mistake. Being of Sicilian descent, it was an easy decision to happen into an olive oil tasting room. I was not disappointed.The walls are lined with shelves and the shelves are filled with stainless steel and ceramic fustinos that are filled with many different olive oils and vinegars. There are olive oils of different origins, as well as herbal and fruit-infused flavored olive oils. The different kinds of vinegars are just as plentiful. There are small cups and small labeled bottles next to each type of olive oil and vinegar. You can taste them on their own (as I was told by a connoisseur in San Francisco was the "right way" to taste) or with a small piece of bread. You can taste each individually, or have one of the wonderful staff, guide you to a vinegar-olive oil combo that will really dress up your salads. I had a really hard time narrowing down my choices and in the end bought a medium sized bottle of both the 18 year aged balsamic and the pomegranate vinegar, as well as a large bottle of Ultra Hojiblanca olive oil. That just might hold me until next summer's trip to Tahoe, or maybe I'll have to find another reason to visit Murphys. read more

Great place to taste a wide variety of olive oils. They also have balsamic vinegar, too. The shop has a tasting option of 6 choices for $6 which is waived if you spend at least $25 which isn't too hard to do. I highly recommend the tasting. Roberta was extremely attentive and welcoming during our visit. Roberta and her team provide a very pleasant shopping experience in their great little shop in Murphys. I cook with a variety of oils, so their extensive selection gives me the convenience of one stop shopping for very tasty and well made products. For the last two years, I've been adding the Black Truffle Oil to various dishes. It always pleases and elicits comment of the unique flavor truffles provide. This is an easy way to have the truffle flavor without the expense of buying the delicate fungi. They don't keep very long, so using the oils make it very easy. Take a look at their delicacy oils. It's enough to stock even the best five star kitchens. So far, two of our favorite infused olive oils are the Tuscan Herb and the Whole Lemon selections. We have just about all of their oils, but these two drain quicker than most. The nice thing is if you don't have the opportunity to visit their shop, order some by mail. You will be pleased. The labels say exactly what you get. No surprises. This shop was a unique addition to an otherwise wine oriented town. Marisolio Tasting Bar is AMAZING!!! What a wonderful find. As a person in recovery I do not visit wineries. Being able to taste a huge variety of olive oils and balsamic vinegars was a great treat. My favorites were the porcini olive oil and the pomegranate vinegar. And I can't forget to mention the staff. What a great bunch of people. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.
