Our family took a quick weekend trip up to Arnold to have some fun in the snow. This was our first time here and we decided to check out this place for breakfast. It definitely did not disappoint. We stopped by for a quick bite to eat on the way back from a weekend getaway in the mountains and were not disappointed. The portions were generous and I appreciated having the option of a salad as a side in an attempt to counteract the BLT lol. This was our coffee spot during our visit to Arnold,Ca. We were able to try their cold and hot coffees. My friends and I went on our camping trip and on our way back home we decided to stop by Bistro Espresso. We weren't expecting much and just really wanted somewhere quick to eat. When we arrived I have to say it was very nice! There were little fairy lights and decorations around the building and the weather that day was perfect. Loved server the day we went. She was the highlight of the place. Menu is good for basic coffee and tea. A few pastry choices were fresh and good. Best of that they also serve food, like sandwiches and more. Prices were fair and the portions good. Parking lot is theirs. Indoor seating has good amount of room. This place is held together by one woman in the front of house. Assuming she's not the owner, she needs to be paid a lot more, or get additional help. One person with a line out the door. C'mon. One of our family traditions is picking up some coffee on the way home. Most especially when we are headed out by brunch. We had spent the weekend at Camp Connell and needed to be checked out by 10AM. This place was on our way out and was 15 minutes from the house. When we arrived their little parking lot looked packed so we parked across the street. I stayed in the car as my sons and husband went in. It took about 20+ minutes for them to get back. I knew it would be a bit. They came back with some yummy items. I had an iced lavender iced mocha that was delicious. Husband loves mocha and this place just so specializes in it so of course that's what he ordered. He also ordered a gigantic cinnamon bun. It was delish! My daughter ordered an iced almond joy that she was happy with. One son had an iced chai and I can't recall what my other son ordered. They also picked up a cookie and a blueberry scone. First we have a place up here I like to support local businesses and hate to write a less than favorable review but my Tri Tip Dip was barely edible. Only reason I even ate half of it I was starving. The meat had no smokey flavor at all it was very bland, very dry, fatty and chewy. Not even sure it was beef it was like eating beef jerky in a bun. Our dogs enjoyed it though. On the plus side the beet salad was fresh and delicious and the beer was cold and good. We like the patio have been once before for drinks not sure about coming back for food maybe the burgers are a safe bet. read more

Came in yesterday (Sunday) at 11:00am. Asked for a drip coffee. "We don't have drip coffee, I can make you an americano." Fine whatever. Then my wife asked for a latte with reduced milk. My partner and I spent a couple of days in Arnold and this place quickly became our new favorite spot. We first visited on Saturday, July 13, 2024. After a morning at the lake, we were on the hunt for some food and decided to check this place out. Little did we know, they have a live band on Saturdays, which was an unexpected and delightful surprise. My partner ordered the tri-tip sandwich with regular fries, and I got the fish and chips with garlic fries. Despite the cook getting ready to close the kitchen for the live show, he kindly took our order, making us the last customers. Their accommodation was greatly appreciated. My partner couldn't stop raving about his sandwich, and I loved my fish and chips so much that I packed up most of it to enjoy later. The next day, Sunday, I was craving some coffee and suggested we go back. I got a small iced americano and couldn't resist trying their 6-piece buffalo wings. I think that overall this place is pretty good. We always stop here while in Arnold. The service is great. The coffee and food are good, some items or drinks are better than others but that's okay. We were out visiting family in the area. We have decided to attempt this breakfast place and when I say it was horrible food, we will never go back there. Also will let our family in the area know not to go when Silvia is cooking because the food will be terrible as far as the breakfast! &who could really ever go wrong with breakfast. Unfortunately, neither acknowledged us with a greeting or even a quick smile. While I understand that everyone can have off days or be preoccupied, a simple "We'll be right with you" would've made a big difference. This was actually our second visit, and our first experience was quite similar. We had planned to order food but ended up just getting drinks due to the lack of customer engagement. That said, the raspberry-infused white mocha I tried was very good. The shop interior feels a bit dark and could benefit from some refreshed presentation, but the outdoor seating is lovely--great shade and a peaceful natural setting. The service was great, super nice staff. However, the food was not very good. My $20 Cobb salad was very skimpy and came out missing several ingredients that I had to go back to ask for. The "smoked tri tip" on the Cobb was gray sliced lunch meat that tasted off. The "cheese bites" aren't actually sharp cheddar curds as advertised, they are just pieces of mozzarella. About 20 minutes after ordering, we're looking around realizing the people who were waiting when we got there were still waiting. Many times we considered cancelling our order and just asking for a refund but after 45 minutes we just hoped we could get out of there in an hour. At about an hour and five minutes, we finally got our ONE burrito and took off. I'm giving two stars because the staff who took our order was friendly and the burrito itself was decent in taste though small in size. I witnessed at least 6 people walk in and walk out upon seeing what was going on inside, talked to other customers who waited even longer than us, and saw many people complain. Anytime we're visiting a place for the weekend a local coffee shop is always a must stop. I wanted to love Bistro Espresso especially since you ate very limited on coffee shops. We stopped by on our way out of town for a coffee and breakfast. The iced white mocha was delicious (adds to my 4 star review) and my husband got a Frap that taste like frozen chocolate milk. The breakfast burrito we ordered was more of a frozen mixture that they heated up with a glob of cheese on top. It got the job done but wasn't amazing. So...there were 6 of us wanting lunch at 12:30ish on a Monday. It wasn't busy, a couple tables inside and out. People were friendly ready to go. First order is for a kids cheeseburger meal, we are informed that they are out of fries! WTF...you serve burgers and fries! No where was it posted that they were out of fries. Okay, we can deal, the kids all ordered salads. Adults who ordered burgers got onion rings at no extra charge. I ordered a pattie melt with extra onions. Another employee walks over, points to a board beside the cash register bringing something to the cashiers attention, and she says "oh, so no extra onions ". Im thinking, okay maybe its some strange rule they have. I pay my tab of $109 +tip amd we all get our drinks and go outside to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Food gets delivered, a nice touch, and wow! not only are there not extra onions on my pattie melt...there are NO ONIONS on my burger! Its sourdough bread, melted cheese and an overcooked store-bought pattie. Horrible. The onion rings were rubbery, the batter on them wasn't bad. Chicken strips were also overcooked. Iced tea was fresh brewed, so there's a plus. Need signage out where customers can see what menu items you don't have. Should have sent someone to the store for onions and frozen fries, its right down the street. Employees were great, food was overpriced and very lackluster. read more

I'm super disappointed by the changes that have occurred over the last year at the Bistro. The BLTA and fries was once something to look forward to. But wow, the bread was cheap, white, and over toasted (It was once a fresh ciabatta), the tomato was sour and green, the bacon was cold and thin (it was once thick warm and flavorful). What happened to those crispy potato slices that were perfectly seasoned? The ones yesterday were thin cool, flimsy, and poorly seasoned. I made a phone visit 30 minutes before pick up. When I got there to pick up the food, the line was out of the door so I walked over to the pick up counter to grab the food and leave. The girl who was running food out of the kitchen to the counter and calling order names was so rude. We told her we had a mobile order. She seemed to get upset almost? And yelled at us "we don't do online orders" and walked back into the kitchen. We didn't say we had an online order... because we made a phone order. We all looked at each other like in disbelief that she yelled at us like that. I started walking out to leave; I was totally fine with going else where at that point. The cashier stopped us from walking out and apologized and gave us the food, The girl running food from the kitchen to the counter had an opportunity to apologize as well but didn't. A cute, quaint little spot with great potential but that's about it. I want this place to succeed in town like any other, however, our visit was less than desirable. If you like fancy coffee drinks at Bay Area prices, this place is for you. If you want good breakfast food, this isn't it. For us we only went here on this day due to the other breakfast place being closed (this was a weekday). The loaded scramble was NOT loaded at all. I had to search hard for any contents. There were only a couple of very tiny onions/bell peppers, didn't see any cheese and NO bacon at all, just some bland frozen sausage patty cut into pieces. The potatoes have no flavor at all and the eggs are cooked dry. They should be embarrassed to serve this NON loaded scramble. The French toast was not cooked all the way. Raw egg still covered the bread. We did get an ample amount of scrambled eggs but again on the dry side. Bacon is good but small in size. Prices are very high for meals that are missing almost all ingredients and not being cooked thoroughly. Also you order at the counter and sit anywhere which is great but they don't staff enough to keep up and it takes forever to order as the counter girl takes your order then either starts making it or has to go to the back to tell the chef the food order. Then when you're done you clear your table and scrape your plates...I'll support the other breakfast place over in the Big Trees shopping center as the food is MUCH better read more
