Cute and quick breakfast spot with a cozy open vibe inside. Stopped here for a quick breakfast with my family and we really enjoyed the simple but delicious menu. I ordered the breakfast burrito, with no meat, and my husband tried the Strawberry Fields Sandwich. He said the bacon was thick and not overcooked. To drink we got a latte and one of their sodas, a cream cola. The soda was really different and we enjoyed it. There is seating outside, which is great if you have a dog. Parking is limited, only about 4 spots in front. Overall a good experience with kind staff. It was tasty however the description was a bit off- it seemed to be more of a pesto rather than pesto aioli and it was not served on a toasted butter croissant- more like a bun. They were busy, but the girl who took my order was sweet and I didn't mind waiting for my food to be ready. Lots of seats both inside and out to hang around in the meantime. I ordered a drink and the blueberry fried chicken sandwich to go. The drink was fine, and the sandwich had a great piece of chicken with a HEAPING side of tots, but those are sadly the only positives to note. I was a bit disappointed with my meal overall. I ordered the sandwich because it had blueberry COMPOTE. (I am wary of ALL berries and fresh produce at this time due to the cyclospora outbreak, but I am perfectly fine to eat compotes and sauces that are cooked). I heard the salesperson ask the cooking staff if they still had compote and they replied in the affirmative. At no point between placing my order and waiting was I told otherwise, or notified that they had run out, but when I got home and opened my sandwich it was genuinely just blueberries on the piece of chicken. It did have melted cheese and (some) aioli, and I asked for no jalapenos/they listened, but the other toppings didn't have much of a taste over the chicken. I was expecting a unique sandwich featuring a cooked through blueberry sauce and received a fraction of what I paid for, especially because, even after dumping the blueberries out of my sandwich, I was too nervous to eat anything they might have touched, and I wasn't able to finish. (While it may be irrational behavior, which I know and am trying to curtail, it still shouldn't have been a thing at all. As someone with food issues, if I had known they were out of the compote I would have changed my order to something I felt comfortable eating--instead I paid $30 for a chicken sandwich I couldn't finish because they essentially contaminated it. Also, cooked blueberry compote tastes different from fresh blueberries, on top of having a completely different texture, so I didn't even get what I paid for in that regard). I would eat here again, but would likely not order to go in case there was another issue. *EDITED REVIEW because I genuinely appreciate the owner's sincerity and congeniality upon receiving my review. Our last visit to Local Press was over 3 years ago, we were just coming out of Covid and the food was not good. So we thought we would give them another try, maybe it was a fluke or bad timing last time. We follow their instagram account and everything always looks hand crafted and delicious! We tried the breakfast sandwich on a croissant roll, a chai tea latte, and an iced caramel macchiato. The drinks were okay, not the worst but definitely not the best. The sandwich was such a disappointment, especially after seeing what we thought it would look like on instagram. Since they didn't have the specific "Farr Out" breakfast sandwich, I think we just ordered the breakfast sandwich on the regular menu which sounded similar (different bread obviously). The picture online boast large sandwiches with generous portions of meat. The sandwich we received however was so small. It was $10, and I could have made something better and bigger at home for free. I was really hoping it would be better than last time, however it was not. I really feel like there is a disconnect between what we're seeing on instagram vs what you get in real life. I know it's not going to be perfect, but this sandwich wasn't even close to the quality that is being advertised. Located in the cute town of Twain Harte is Local Press. I got a lavender latte here with my cousin. So good. I was really excited to visit Twain Harte for my birthday, and one of the spots that caught our eye was The Local Press--a charming little restaurant, smoothie, and juice bar with great reviews. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, and there was plenty of seating both inside and outside. The setup was super cute and welcoming. One of the highlights was their menu of homemade sodas, which I thought was such a fun and unique touch. They also had a nice variety of sandwiches, burgers, and more. My girlfriends and I were starving, so we ordered burgers with fries and decided to try their house-made energy drinks--I went with the Pink Flamingo. We sat outside to enjoy the mountain air, though we did have to deal with some pesky flies (expected when you're in the woods, really). The food came out hot and fresh, and it was absolutely delicious. The Pink Flamingo was tasty too, and we were so impressed that we decided to come back on our last day in the area. The second visit was still enjoyable, but the energy drink I ordered that day unfortunately tasted like cough syrup, so that one ended up being a bit of a miss. Just a heads-up to be selective when trying different drinks. That said, I definitely recommend the cherry soda--it was amazing--and the food remains top-notch. Yum. Everything I've had here has been delicious. I've had the chorizo breakfast burrito, the bacon breakfast burrito, and a breakfast bowl as well as an iced coconut latte & a n iced vanilla latte. I highly recommend adding avocado if you like it, and getting the salsa as well. I usually get the salsa on the side and use as I please but it is so good to add onto the breakfast burrito or bowl. What I love about their burritos is that it seems like they mix all the ingredients before putting it onto the tortilla, making every bite really well balanced. It's not like those burritos where you get one bite that's all meat and another bite that's all egg. No; it's very evenly dispersed and you get a good mix of all ingredients in every bite. Have been to the Local Press multiple times, but usually just for a coffee run, which is always good. Tried it specifically for the burgers and I legitimately have to say it beats The Rock and the Twain Harte Golf Club Bar & Grill hands down! I had the Shack Burger and it was bomb AF! I smashed it and the fries I ordered on the side! You could definitely taste it was a fresh patty opposed to frozen. This was confirmed by staff. Wife had a BLT and said it was pretty tasty as well. Staff is always friendly and had no problem answering any questions I had. Reasonable wait based on it being prepared to order. Such a lovely spot to enjoy some outdoor Saturday evening live music. I have been to Local Press twice now for Saturday live music - and it's been a fantastic time on both occasions. They have readily available seating, quality sound, beautiful vibes, and they also serve up drinks and food - up until they close. The Twain Harte Swimming pool is right behind Local Press - and I've even seen families enjoying evening refreshing dips - while a local musician croons over a swaying crowd. Local Press' Saturday evening menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, fries, onion rings and salads. Some of their evening menu standouts include a Blueberry Fried Chicken Sandwich, as well as their Yolky Bear burger. Me and my husband were taking a little vacay up in Twain Hart and decided to go to this cute little coffee shop/cafe. Boy was it good. I'm usually pretty picky with my coffee but it was great! I got a vanilla latte and the girl at the front made it perfectly. Not sure what her name was but whoever was working in the morning on 2/26/25 you are awesome! That girl deserves a raise lol. The food was also great of course. I got the press bowl and it was 10/10. My husband also enjoyed his coffee and snuck a few bites of my food. The owner seemed especially nice as well. We tried the Local Press for the first time today, stopping for breakfast. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, and I decided to try the Press bowl with chorizo (though it is also offered with bacon). My other half really enjoyed the breakfast burrito, which included nice, crisp tater tots, which were also featured in my breakfast. The Press Bowl was comprised of scrambled egg, crumbled chorizo, a light amount of melted cheese, a dollop of sour cream and abundant, sliced avocado. The avocado was perfectly ripe and delicious. I liked that the dish was not overwhelmed by overdoing the cheese...just enough for good flavor. The service was friendly, with you placing an order, pre-paying at a counter and then being called up to an exterior window to retrieve the order. The food did take a while to come, but there was a large group ahead of us that likely accounted for that. There is some indoor seating available, but the space is a bit tight there. Far more seating is found outside, just in front of the entry to the community pool. There appear to be some varied and delicious sounding options for lunch, so will likely come back to check it out. read more

Highly disappointed in what used to be a flavorful sandwich that was overwhelmingly good. The fixing from the sandwich (blueberry and candied jalapeños would fall all over your fries and make the meal that much better. Food is good. Service is slow as they make it right there for you. Takes about 10-15 minutes to make a breakfast burrito. If you use the online app and want ASAP option the program defaults to a later time rounding to the next 15 minute block. So if you order at 846 ASAP the program will make a ticket for 9am for the staff and you don't know this change. If you are walking thinking you can get your food by maybe 9am you might get it at 915/920. Don't criticize Cameron on FB about how he could change or make improvements. He will block you. Trying to help him and Local Press but seems to be the big bully in town. He wants to do dinners while we have The Villa, Rock and Epperson House. Stick to coffee. Already Bean Around the Block Closed so now we're down to 1 coffee house. Talk to other restaurants and get their 411. His music times and dates competes with the Rock. Both places can do music on the same night. 20 minute sets and the folks acn bounce back and forth between both Local Press and Rock. Just don't do 2 hours of straight music. read more
