We finally made it to The Branch after talking about trying it for the past couple of years, and now we feel like we've seriously been missing out! We came for a family member's 70th birthday with family visiting from out of town, and The Branch definitely made us look good for picking the restaurant! Everyone was so impressed. Every single dish was incredible. The plates looked like works of art, but somehow tasted even better. You can tell so much thought and heart goes into planning the menu and preparing every dish. Every bite was so flavorful and impressive, and the chef absolutely blew us away. We genuinely felt so special and lucky to be there. Came here and had reservations on a Saturday evening. It definitely was really cute. Had lots of selections of wine. The server took a while to greet me but when she did, she was very sweet. I was looking for a meal not to hardy something like a small plate and I was recommended the meatballs. I had some friends there drinking some wine and they told me the wine was delicious and the food was delicious. However, when I did get my food and tried my first bite of the meat meatballs, it tasted very salty, and it looked undercooked. I was not really a big fan of the meatballs. However, I cannot speak for all the other food, which I wish I would've been able to try. If you're gonna come to this restaurant, make sure you're ready to throw down some money. It was $22 for just some meatballs and you get four of them. I had to take them home because I wasn't able to finish them and they were too salty. I would come back here again to try a different dish when I'm visiting. Hopefully next time I can give it a 4 to 5 star review! read more

We got a reservation for a Sunday night and were presented with the Tapas menu. We chose the romaine salad, three steak street tacos, and the crispy pork belly lettuce cups. The romaine had a delicious lemon dressing and manchego cheese, which was simple and underwhelming to look at, but complex and savory to the taste. Next, the pork belly lettuce cups: every one of the elements had their place, from the pork belly and sweet sauce, to the pineapple, to the cashews. The street tacos were delicious with their square flour tortillas, and would have been a star dish anywhere else. They just paled in comparison to the first two dishes. When we finished, we chose a dessert: the chocolate cheesecake with the toffee crumble on top. Oh my gosh, I died and went to heaven. I could have eaten another entire piece on my own if I didn't have dairy issues. We were a bit late to our reservation, but I called to let them know we were running late and they assured us the table was ours for the night. Everyone was friendly and the intimacy of the restaurant was charming. We will be coming back when we're in the area again. The vibe is incredible--a few small dining spaces in a converted cabin that's stylish in a low-key way with an open kitchen and a pleasantly loud pop-soul soundtrack. such a cute little restaurant in twain harte!definitely recommend getting a reservation on opentable as it'll show you the most accurate times. it's a very small space so a reservation guarantees your spot. they do have two outdoor tables, but they're not open to be booked online. if you have dogs, i definitely recommend calling ahead to make sure they can accommodate that. the waitress was very nice and accommodating when i called. the service was great, they were super friendly and attentive. there is only one wait staff and one chef working at a time so if things are fully booked, just be prepared to wait a bit. we got to experience the tapas menu and everything was delicious. definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

Honestly, I don't get the hype. I came here for a birthday dinner and left disappointed. The beef taco special was good while hot, but the accompanying consommé strangely had noodles in it. The Korean short ribs had great flavor but were way too chewy. To top it off, they were out of the Pavlova dessert, and the backup lemon cheesecake was just average. The ambiance is too casual for a special occasion, and the music was too loud for the small space. On the positive side, the service was good. I might return eventually, but it's not a top choice for me. Some of the best food in Tuolumne County and with a few tweaks, could be even better. My husband and I are originally from the Bay Area and have enjoyed great restaurants all over the world, so we're picky. Compared to other restaurants in the area, including the casinos, I'd give it a 5, but compared to what The Branch is now versus what it could be, I give it a four. To start, we were seated next to a couple with a cranky, noisy toddler. It's a small space to begin with, so there was no place to move to. Not the fault of the restaurant, but it distracted from our experience. The seasonal menu is balanced and not too ambitious or pretentious. To start we both chose the root salad. It featured a nice mix of fresh and pickled vegetables, but my salad had way too many pickled red onions (which I don't care for) that weighed down the greens. The beet swoosh was delicious and I wish there were more beets in the salad. For mains, my husband selected the rendered duck breast and I opted for the short rib shepherd's pie. The duck gets high marks for being tender and flavorful, however it was slightly overcooked and the skin wasn't crispy. I suspect that it had been cooked sous vide in advance and then finished in a skillet prior to serving. Nothing wrong with that, but it was just past medium. My shepherd's pie featured nice fresh carrots and peas, fork-tender short rib and a too-generous blanket of silky, fluffy mashed potatoes. The sauce, unfortunately, seemed under-seasoned and the mashed potato topping wasn't browned (just piped on top). The dessert (dulce de leche cheesecake) was a bit disappointing. The strong spice level of the crust eclipsed the flavor of the filling. A couple bites were enough for me, but my husband finished the piece. One really picky point: the water glasses are mason jars. In my experience, they develop small chips in the rim with constant use. Sure enough, my glass had a tiny ding in the rim that I had to avoid. I would encourage the restaurant to ditch the cute-quaint jars in favor of tumblers. (And, yes, I did mention this to our server to pass along to management.) Service was attentive, friendly and not intrusive. Prices are in line with our expectations of a nice restaurant. We'll go back in few months to check out the new seasonal menu. Definitely worth a trip! read more

Finally got to come to The Branch in downtown Twain Harte and it did not disappoint. My family decided to do a tasting of a bunch of small plates. The kid loved the Mexican Street Mac. The wife loved the Watermelon + Tender Green Salad. The Ahi Tuna Ceviche was my personal fav. The quality of food was definitely worth the price. I know this place is expensive for Twain Harte but a packed house goes to show you the value you get. The staff were friendly and attentive. Even the Chef thanked the fam for coming in. The restaurant is quaint and has limited seating so get on their email list so you make reservations ASAP! The family is already wanting to go back the next time we can. Since restaurant does limited pop-up events makes it more desirable and makes you feel, when you're able to get a seat, a bit more exclusive experience. My friend took me here and I was pleasantly impressed with every dish we ordered! We started with a Cauliflower Pesto soup that was absolutely delicious. Then we shared the Beet Goat Cheese Arugula salad and Chili Shrimp appetizer that was perfectly prepared. I was so full by the time the Mahi Mahi main dish arrived but it was so delicious that we cleaned the plate! I was so excited to finally be able to try The Branch and were able to Get a reservation on my birthday. We opted for the tasting menu and were greatly disappointed. The room was cold, service was not good as we waited constantly. A restaurant friend was at the table next to us for a short Time, cussing and talking with the staff, served soup and a glass of wine before we received a glass of water after arriving after us. For a $500 meal For 3, this was not a good start. Only once were we told what was being served and the plating was sloppy. The tasting menu was the table Menu, nothing special like I saw online. Each course was a large portion and by course 4, we were full. We had to take 5 and 6 to go. We tried 3 different entrees, 1 was cold. I'll Try it again sometime but will not do the tasting menu. Just had dinner there. One word...incredible. Cool little place. Matt (owner) was engaged. As place is small the kitchen is front and center so really easy to be part of the action. As far as food, we started with the ahi ceviche. Ceviche is one of my favorites but this rewrote the definition. Never had anything like it. For those who've dined at Mama's Fish House (Maui), this would be right at home there. I had the Barbacoa Chili Rellano. Excellent. Large portion too. And if you're doing low carb, right there! Hands down the best food in the county! Last night we had the Lomo Saltado, House Fries, Burger and ended with the Cookie Butter Cheescake! The Lomo was full of flavor I highly recommend it, you're not going to get this dish anywhere unless you head to the Bay Area! I tried the beet salad and the pork belly sandwich, new to the menu this month. Outstanding balance, tasteful flavors of freshness. The pork belly had the perfect amount of crispness and the egg cooked perfectly to complement. Avocado to bring richness. Beets were perfect with citrus, radish, fennel & pickled onions topped off with a wonderful dressing. Epic!
