The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. Went here for Father's Day dinner with the family, and it was not very impressive. My wife's had to wait for her ice tea for about 35 months, part of my dinner order, (soup) was forgotten about, then given to the table next to us. Food quality was not up to par. We ordered the 10oz Flank steak, and it took quite a long time to come out. When it finally arrived, it was cold. After sending it back, the replacement still came out only lukewarm. The steak itself lacked seasoning or flavor, and the sides that came with it weren't very enjoyable either. We ended up relying on A1 sauce just to make it decent. On the positive side, the bread with oil and vinegar was outstanding, and the drinks were excellent -- definitely the highlight of the evening. Our waitress was kind and tried to make up for the experience by not charging us for the drinks, which we really appreciated. That gesture stood out even though the food itself was disappointing. Unfortunately, overall service seemed overwhelmed for a Thursday night; we even overheard other diners commenting on how long it was taking to get their food. While we appreciated the great drinks and thoughtful service from our waitress, the main dishes left us underwhelmed, and we're not sure we'd return anytime soon. read more

We go to the Eproson House once or twice per year - usually for celebrations. The service is always good and the atmosphere is the best in the area. However, yesterday, in prep for my daughter's birthday dinner, we accessed the menu on line to review choices and prices. An hour later we were seated and provided an entirely different menu. Choices were severely limited compared to the menu we viewed on line, and the prices were significantly higher . . . my 12 oz. New York steak went from $33 on line to $42 in the restaurant. My daughter's rib-eye went from $40 to $48. I accept that, under current "conditions", the prices could go up, but . . . 20-25% ? Unfortunately, the quality of my steak was marginal, at best. Although properly cooked to order and "tasty", a properly cut New York steak avoids the line of gristle that separates it from the Rib-eye, this one didnt. My daughter's rib-eye was at least 30-40% fat. We will likely go back, but not soon, and we'll order something other than steak. read more

The Chicken Cobb Salad was just okay. The portion size was decent, and the ingredients seemed fresh, but nothing really stood out. The chicken was a bit dry, and the overall flavor felt a little flat, even with the dressing. It wasn't bad, just not as tasty as I had hoped. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to order it again, but it'll do if you're craving a salad. We sat outside (by choice), which was nice at first, but the experience was disrupted by loud cars passing by frequently. It made it a bit hard to relax or hold a conversation. First and foremost the staff are wonderful. My review is purely for the food itself. I got the potato skins and a smash burger. While I was pleased the potato skins were basically just baked potatoes, they were severely lacking in toppings even though I had specifically requested extra toppings, it left them mostly bland due to how much potato there was. The smash burger was DROWNED in aioli, so much that the burger was basically soup. The aioli completely overpowered everything else and it was all I could taste. It was pretty disappointing. What a great spot! We had a delicious lunch here. We enjoyed the smash burger with some of the best onion rings I have ever eaten. We also had a couple of Dirty Marys which come with tobacco vodka and blue cheese olives. Yummy! The service was top notch. Our waitress was cheerful and attentive to our requests. Food? Delicious a bit soupy for the pricing but 7/10 delicious. This is the second occasion I have been and the environment is fairly casual/relaxed which is nice so I will give them that. The service? In my brother in laws words who owns several bars around the Bay Area, "horrendous" last time I was there my steak was medium well to well and I asked for it medium however they disagreed which I thought that was odd because I've had lots of medium filet mignons, and they were not very nice about my polite feedback. This recent occasion I don't think we were greeted after being seated when we had reservations and there was for 20 minutes for drinks and we were ready by the time that happened. Only then did I get one refill. So if they were to work on the consideration of their customers this could be a WONDERFUL restaurant! Plus I have not been but I do hear the bar is awesome. Was the greatest Ribeye steak in ca and friendly staff. Now after returning for the Ribeye only to get the Rarest steak I've ever had and first being served a prime rib instead ( wrong order) waited another 25 min and to cut into it it mooed back at me. I'm Not one to return back to kitchen... ( too many horror stories ). Friends was the same. Prices doubled. Items removed from menu. Atmosphere felt a lil off also. Come to find out.... We hadn't been in Twain Harte for over three years so we enjoyed our visit back to this lovely restaurant. We always enjoy sitting out under the trees, but the road can get a little noisy sometimes. SO disappointed in Eproson House lately. The service in the dining room is generally very good, but the bar is hit or miss. You mostly sit there trying to wave someone down for a drink refill, or condiment for your meal, etc. because the people working there seem to be more interested in going outside to smoke/vape, or stand in the corner gossiping with each other. If you're their friend? You'll get better service. If you're not? They'll wave you off and tell you they'll be with you in a minute because they are "busy". As far as the menu? It's been revamped - the prices are SKY HIGH these days, and you no longer get a soup or salad with your meal unless you want to pay to add it on. No matter if you eat in the bar or in the dining room, red meat is generally over-cooked, side vegetables are ALWAYS overcooked, the fish specials I've had were overcooked and dry. This is the fourth time we've been here thinking that we were going to have a nice dining experience. Each time we've been there's always been a problem with either the food the ambience or the service. And here we come yet another time and we're very disappointed. I ordered the soup of the day, which was a Bell pepper soup and I asked the server specifically if the soup contain mushrooms because I cannot eat mushrooms and she said no mushrooms. I began eating the soup which was completely disgusting in its own right with little chunks of something inside and absolutely no taste whatsoever. In fact, it didn't taste like peppers at all. Then to my surprise, there are sliced mushrooms in the soup. I was disgusted. I also ordered a side salad and the salad was just lettuce like the kind of lettuce you get from the plastic pack at the market. There was no vegetables included like carrots or tomatoes or croutons. It was just a boring plate of lettuce. The chicken piccata comes in more of a bowl so that it's sitting in a bowl of cream sauce. It's more like boiled chicken as as it sits in the sauce and has no char marks to it because it was probably poached. Another time I tried the Barada appetizer and the cheese was so soft. It was like watery milk. After this last experience, we were so disgusted. We just told the server we had had to go. read more

I ordered iced tea, clam chowder, and the 16 ounce ribeye medium rare. Veggies were good, garlic mash was good, tea good. But then the steak. NOT medium rare. This is medium well. I was dining with a large group and did not want to inconvenience them, so did not send the steak back. One of my dinner mates commented that his steak was not cooked correctly either. Dinner at Eproson House Part 2. The waitress, the only one, was the saving grace. She was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. she saved the evening. We got there around 5:30 pm on a Friday night, we were ahead of the rush. Friendly waitress , we ordered drinks and looked at the menu. Has ownership and the chef changed? $6 to now add soup or salad that was always included for many years? We ordered scallop risotto with a salad, Alfredo with Chicken , Chicken Piccata , and I got the chicken Parmesan which was new on the menu to us. The two ladies were served first and several minutes later the men got theirs. The Chicken Alfredo was ok, the salad was good, the scallops were good but the risotto was crunchy , the Piccata (which we were told was a light sauce) was a bowl full of thick creamy sauce. My Chicken Parmesan was like chucks of fried chicken with the noodles served in a chili flavored sauce and two big chunks of mozzarella. Not anything like any Chicken Parmesan I've ever had or heard of. We were given 50% off my dish at least. We left without eating dinner after waiting 50 minutes. The food never arrived. The waitress was exceptional, the chef, not so much!

Got there 15 minutes before our reservation and was told they don't have enough menus so we went to the bar to have a drink and wait. Watching people come in and be seated so went back and they got us a table. The server was nice. We ordered an appetizer and then a little bit later our dinner. The app came about a half hour later we were told it was a back from all the large groups. Got one salad and about 15 minutes the server came by and asked if we had gotten the second salad. I'm sorry isn't that your job? 2nd salad came. At this point Everyone who came in after us was served and were finishing their meals and we hadn't gotten ours. It has now been 2 hours. At this point I'm not even hungry anymore. As the servers were going back and forth with plates they are very good at not making eye contact. The linguini turned out to be corkscrew because they ran out. She comped the corkage and appetizer and said she requested more help for the next day. On Saturday, May 31, 2025 I took my 78 year-old mother to celebrate her birthday which she loves to do. Upon ordering with the waiter, I advised him that it was my mother's birthday. He didn't even acknowledge her birthday or tell me that they don't do anything for birthdays any longer. At the end, he gave us a check and didn't even say have a good evening or again happy birthday. When we walked out the door, I put my purse down on one of the chairs nearby a table to take a photo with my mother and our waiter rushed out to let us know that we can't sit there.
