It's located in a casino but well insulated away from the smoke and clamor of the gambling floor. There are pasta items and fresh vegetables for the vegetarians. Prices are higher than the quality. Staff are nice, possibly over stretched to provide attentive service. Food downstairs is at least as good and good value. Choices are not great in Tuolumne County. Maybe go to Murphys if you are serious about getting great food and good wine in a darling gold country town. read more

We went to dinner tonight. We were so disappointed in how this restaurant has gone down hill. We never minded paying high prices because the food and the service were outstanding. Not anymore. The CALAMARI ($22) appetizer was rubbery and cold; we only ate half. The sauce was very tasty but not plentiful. The PORK FRITES ($42) was extremely fatty and once again there was hardly any sauce. The TUSCAN CHICKEN ($38) was a thinly sliced piece of non-marinated, dry chicken with absolutely no extra sauce - just dry chicken.The Pappardelle pasta was stuck together like glue and again no extra sauce. I won't even go into the other entrees and deserts we had. Suffice to say the prices do not reflect the quality of food. They need to get a new cook and rethink their menu. Until then we will never go back nor will we recommend it to anyone. Shame on the management for ruining a once upscale restaurant. read more

I don't know who the manager that changed the menu, but managed to make it worse. We go first special occasion. Chicken dish over cooked, the Seafood Resotto 2 Scallops and 1 small lobster tail. That was overpriced and way too much rice, Surf & Turf had to ask where the surf was. It was small portion of crab on top of steak for $70. Appetizer was sad order Scallops got 3, Capricie salad cut wrong were in quarters small fresh mostarella with 1 peach. The best was the Calamari was enough for 4 of us. We had dinner reservations on 6/25/26 for 5pm. We were so looking forward to a wonderful dinner and dining experience. Unfortuneately, this is not what that awaited us. Our salmon fish of the day, was placed on a mound of over-cooked mushy rice. Although the salmon appeared fine, we couldn't get past the gross rice and sent it back. The chicken breast was purported to be on a sun-dried tomato sauce pasta. The pasta was doughy, tasteless. and cold. We also had to send it back. We finished our wine and left planning to not return for a long, long time. We had seen some questionable reviews but decided to return because of our past enjoyment. Bad decision. My husband and I went for dinner here on Saturday and had a horrible meal, I got the crab stuffed prawns and instead of serving a pasta noodle it came with a pho noodles( I'm Italian I know pasta) my husband got the special and his looked worse than mine and tasted worse, we got an appetizer that was ok but took 30 min to come out and waitress kept apologizing for it taking too long while they had maybe 6 tables , we have been about 7 times to this restaurant but this was the worst meal yet, please make changes!!! read more

Located inside the black oak casino on the third floor. I came in with a group of 7. We made dinner reservations. I recommend making reservations if you are interested in eating here. They seated us as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was amazing! She knew the menu like the back of her hand and let us know about their specials. She did a great job of checking on us throughout our visit. I ordered the seared scallops. It came with rice and asparagus. The presentation was fabulous. Everything was cooked perfectly which especially is a big deal for scallops. So delicious and seasoned perfectly. Everyone in our party loved their food. Not one complaint across the board! They ordered the crab carbonara, Atlantic salmon, orange duck, and millionaire Mac and cheese. FYI side salads are huge. The bread they brought before our meal was delicious too. My only complaint is I expected more from their cocktails. I ordered the pomegranate cosmopolitan and another in the party ordered a smoked old fashioned. For the smoked old fashioned it was lower tier quality wise compared to other ones I have had before. My cosmo I wish was more along with a traditional recipe and stronger or had a nicer presentation. This would have me more rate it 4.5 but I still am rounding up to 5 because everything else was so great. We leave very pleased! The food was mediocre at best. Very little flavor in anything. I had the salmon it was tasteless. others in our party had Steak and lobster and another with a New York steak. We have been back here 3 times over the past couple of months with the new menu. It wasn't terrible the first time as we had a steak and a fish entree. Second time we switched it up and had a meal at the bar. There are very few choices for apps and there are no longer options like the turkey sandwich and no fries etc. and the mushroom soup is not in the menu anymore. We settled on a wedge salad with chicken and stuffed shrimp. Salad was a 6 and the shrimp was a 7. The latest meal was a wedge with chicken, this time it was a 2. It was terrible and the chicken was so dry you couldn't swallow it. The Beet salad was ok. Way too much vinegar in the dressing and the food was swimming in dressing it was a 5. We didn't order an app because the options were not very appealing and very limited. Hopefully management can take a hint and get this place back on track. read more

In the last year, I've visited twice. The first time was a five star experience, the second time was a three star experience. The first visit I had the crab carbonara which was fantastic and my husband had a mushroom pasta. The second time I had the Bavette (sirloin) and it was pretty tough and fatty. The steak knife was also dull. The season root veg was undercooked and I had a few really woody pieces. We never had to ask for anything and we never had a plate in front of us that we were done with for more than a minute or two. The ambiance is cozy and warm, the seating is comfortable. It can get a little noisy when it's busy, but we could still hear just fine. We got the Brussels sprouts for a starter and if you haven't had them before, you must. They are 1000% worth it. Between the starter and main course they came by with a palate cleanser that was a very tart cranberry orange sorbet like bite. It was very sharp, but I enjoyed it. My dad and I got the maple chipotle pork chop. It comes with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. Divine. It was phenomenal. My mom got the filet with the potatoes, she ate it all and said it was great. Hubs got the wagyu burger. It was huge and very messy, but he said flavor wise it was different and very tasty. Only real complaint was the amount and quality of the shoestring fries that came with the burger. There was a mound... like too many. And I am a brussel sprouts fan all the way. They were so good! The bone marrow was surprising. It came with fry bread as well as carne asada. I have to give this a 3 out of 5. The bone marrow was good, but I don't think the fry bread pairs well. It's not delicate enough to eat with the bone marrow. It takes over and it's all you can taste. I mean fry bread is good, but just not with the bone marrow in my Opinion. The carne asada could have used some different seasoning or a sauce. The crab cakes were pretty good. Good sized, good sauce. I would have liked a more lemony sauce but I was just squeezing lemon on everything. I also had been craving artichokes, so I gave the tempura artichokes a try. It wasn't bad, but not what I was craving. It was too heavy when I was of course craving.... Light! My husband had a club sandwich that looked good. He said it was and the portion looked good as well. He only ate half because of all the apps I ordered. You think he'd be used to it by now! Three if us have been going to a fine dining restaurant monthly for quite awhile. We live in Modesto but we were in Sonora for a play at the Sierra Rep. Our experience at 7 Sisters was perfect, The new menu is wonderful. This was our first time here. The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was really delicous, very fresh with great flavor. Our server, Jess was informed, fast and friendly. She gave us plenty of time to make our choices. The cocktails were good, too, but I wish they had more wines by the glass. Sadly, they had my favorite and it was $70 a bottle. Nope. Its a beautiful quiet space with nice music. We'll be back, for sure. read more

The worst meal I have ever been served. The lamb shank had no flavor precooked days ahead with no moisture or seasoning. The short ribs were equally inedible. The garlic mashed potatoes were cold the short rib was tough. Very disappointing as it was a special occasion. Don't waste your time with this place . Sad because I heard there was a new chef and hoping it would be great food. Earlier we had gone on their website to make a reservation but saw all times were available and chose not to reserve a table. We arrived at 5:30 and were told we could not get a table until 7:30 (there were 3 tables occupied). We told them about the availability on their website and they said the system always overbooks. They went on to say they had a large party but could break down a table but that it would an issue. Really? The attitude of the host desk was one of indifference. We left and went on to have a lovely dinner elsewhere. Supporting local businesses is always our preference, apparently they don't need ours. read more

We really had a difficult time finding fault in Seven Sisters! We did not have a reservation and were seated in just under an hour. The table was set lovely, the floor-to-ceiling windows made the dining room homey feeling, and the huge fireplace finished the rich ambience. Kathleen, our server, was amazing. Very professional, personable, and attentive. She kept our drinks full and quickly met every request. The sour dough bread we started with was served warm, crispy, and with plenty of butter. The first appetizer was bone marrow. It was on a bed of tender carne asada, and included yummy, puffy fry bread. We also had the jumbo prawns, tender and delicious. The Chicken Marsala was tender! The rib eye cooked rare as ordered, and the salmon amazing. Our only complaint was the Mac and cheese. It was dry and needed salt. The bread crumb topping was also dry -- needed to be toasted in a more generous amount of butter. The crumb topping poured off like sand when we packed the left overs. Another wonderful visit to Seven Sisters restaurant located in the Black Oak Casino. The food and service perfect! I enjoyed the Atlantic Salmon - cooked perfectly and with an amazing lemon dill sauce and a nice glass of Frank Family Cabernet. They are usually quite busy, so reservations are highly recommended.
