    Ceviche and a beer. Perfect

Ordered the ceviche and it was delicious! The bartenders were switching shift and both were great. Owner and his wife were there and were very friendly. The establishment is nice and cool during this summer heat in Sonora. Enjoy

Adorable and delicious modern Mexican restaurant downtown Sonora. We were driving through on our way from the sierras and stopped in to sit outside along the river. The owner, Lupe, greeted us and was so kind and welcoming. Our food was absolutely delicious. Mango habanero fish tacos on handmade corn tortillas. Barbacoa tacos. Freshly made guacamole. Not pictured - the passion fruit margarita. They were also so accommodating to our two young boys. Can't wait to come back!

The Mexican food here is FIRE!! Ate here for lunch and dinner during a work trip to Sonora, CA and I genuinely enjoyed the food here. Very authentic Mexican food with a great bar. Both times I came were truly outstanding so the consistency was appreciated. I grabbed the enchiladas and the red sauce is some of the best enchilada salsa I've had. Very complex and full of flavor. Truly this dish is a 10/10. I got a side of rice and beans with my meal and a ni e cold draft beer and my total came out to about $30 bucks, so worth it! If your in the area and looking for some good food, make sure to consider them. Great little spot in town and you will not regret coming here. Thanks El Arroyo for the great meals!

Food was amazing! I got the shredded chicken chimichanga with their creamy chipotle sauce 10/10 my only regret was not having asked for my chimichanga wet with that sauce. I ordered their Prickly pear margarita another 10/10 and the ambiance was beautiful we got patio seating overlooking the creek. I highly recommend going in the evening to enjoy the lighted garden.

The food is always good, but lately service has been lacking. Tonight we had a party of 6 - appetizers came out staggered, drinks took a while to come out. We placed our orders and slowly the food started trickling out. Some of us got all of our food, some of our food was wrong and had to be sent back, I got my fajitas but not my rice and beans, my friend got her meal but not her tortillas. 3 of our party ordered drinks, and waited over 30 minutes, and had to ask about them twice before they came out - they came out after we were done with our meal and were packing up left overs. Our check we were charged for multiple of one item. One of the waitresses brought out a burrito that none of us ordered, another waitress came by and got in between 2 of us reached over the table and took a drink menu and asked if we were done - we said we were still using it and she took it. We got sauce that was frozen and had ice crystals in it and one of the servers was rude when serving the children their plates. The food is always great. But the service has gone down hill substantially.

Located on the main strip in downtown Sonora, I was pleasantly surprised to find El Arroyo. They have a nice patio area with a view of the creek. When there are concerts in the plaza area, it's close enough to hear the music! Daughter got the beef tacos and said they were some of the best she's had. I ordered the carnitas plate which was very tasty. More than enough food and although I hate wasting food, it's hard to get leftovers to go when you are traveling. Otherwise I would have packed this up! Service was attentive and prices were moderate. I mean, let's be honest, any Mexican place that has margaritas for less than $8 is unheard of these days! Despite the mixed reviews of this place, I would definitely come back.

I'm actually at El Arroyo's new location in Murphys, CA.... Our newest restaurant in Murphys. I'm sitting at their little bar area enjoying a nicely spiced salsa and chips while they prepare my order of fish tacos plate to go, .... so will further edit my comments later. They remodeled this location before opening. It is clean, bright, airy, and welcoming. I think a nice new business has made its way to Murphys.

That cheese enchilada is the best. Chile relleno was great.

The Armory is family and dog friendly and it was great to see families and their fur babies enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. The menu has great appetizers to share, salads and bowls, tacos, sandwiches, and satisfying pastas + a delicious short rib plate. The drink menu is extensive - they have an impressive variety of barrel-aged bourbons, Irish whiskeys, scotch, rye, tequila, and mezcal and quite the selection of beers on tap, in bottles, and in cans. The wine list will have something for everyone. And the cocktails all looked amazing! We had the smoked pork nachos, ahi poke bowl, and the Rodeo Burger. Everything was tasty and came out quickly. The mojito was on the lighter side but still very refreshing with nice flavor. I would definitely get this again. The Chicken Fajita Bowl was soooo good. Chicken was perfectly prepared. Juicy and bite sized pieces made it easy to consume. Definitely wished there was more chicken in this dish but price was awesome so I guess it worked out. Kids size chicken tender was pretty significant. This is enough for two kids to share. The waffle cut fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The guys in the kitchen know magic or something. Overall a great experience. Veey friendly staff that mostly left you alone to enjoy but still checked in occasionally.

what a creative menu!…read more I was hungry for a philly cheese, and the "philly cheese please" hit the spot. Soft tender slices of ribeye, paired with grilled onions, grilled red and green bell peppers and a helping of black pepper was great. No sauce to make it messy and paired with garlic truffle fried was fantastic. Since these were shoe string cut, they were crispy and very crunchy. My SO ordred the fondue burger, and this was delicious as well. Warning the hot cheese will burn you, and hot cheese oil. But worth the burn as this smother cheese on a ciabatta bun was great. This was paired with sweet potato fries. These thick cut sweet potatoe fries are only sprinkled with sea salt, they retained the soft and moist texture just prefect. One order of a passion fruit lemonade, was a great balance of sweet and tart, and came in a very large glass. Pleanty of ice to keep it chill and slowly sip through out the meal. The meal a tad heavier than I thought, I finished my philly cheese, but not the fries (a first) The room is very high ceiling and all these great art works, posters and items on all the walls. TV screen with sports and sounds like sattelite radio running above. Service was very prompt and friendly. They explained the menu and clarified on some points. The specials sounds great, but we opted for a lighter dinner and went for sandwiches and burgers.

Their happy hour is DAILY from 14:00-16:00. The restaurant was pretty busy on a Sunday, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Our server was attentive and friendly. For our cocktails, my friend went with the Huckleberry lemonade, while I went with the pomegranate whiskey sour. She thoroughly enjoyed her cocktail, and so did I. At that price point, I didn't expect much, but it was a solid cocktail, although not as strong as what I'd normally get elsewhere. The clam chowder sounded really good, and I couldn't help myself, so I ordered it. My friend is not a fan of seafood, so the chowder was all for me. The crostini was very nicely toasted and I loved dipping it into the chowder. I was also pleasantly surprised by the flavor and quality of the clam chowder. It was packed with a ton of clams, and was perfectly hearty without being heavy. We opted to share the fallen apple pizza, which was the perfect choice. The dough was pillowy and light, and the toppings delicious. I would have liked more apple slices, as it didn't seem like they were very prominent, and for the balsamic drizzle to be more uniform, but overall it was a solid pizza. I took leftover pizza home, and my husband enjoyed it for dinner. We heated it up in the air fryer and that was the way to go. While it was a little noisy in the restaurant, mainly due to a large group seated next to us, we still had a good experience, and the booth seating was comfy. I would love to bring my husband back to try more happy hour menu items next time we visit Sonora! The price point is seriously hard to beat, and Emberz is a solid spot for hanging out and having a good time.

However, it was sooooo slow. From the moment we were seated it probably took about 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. Then it took the same before our drinks were brought and they finally took our order. Nearly 1 hour after we sat some of our pizza finally came. The calzone took an extra 15 minutes. During the wait we did not get an update or any notice from the one or two staff members. When the food eventually came out it was still missing things. When we placed the order we asked for marinara and ranch. Neither came out with the pizza and we had to ask 4 times before it was finally brought to our table. Not to mention, we only asked for 1 marinara and they brought 2 that were half full and charged us for 2....
