First the service: while competent, the girls working there always seem sour and cold. It just detracts from the experience. Also the prices: seventeen bucks for a burger and fries is steep. Lastly, and it's a bit picky, is that the Mayo is in packets as if it were a fast food joint. Dreaming about this place as I write this out. We went here two times during a week period because it was so incredibly good. Some highlights are the warm cinnamon rolls, the tri tip sandwich (it's smoked outback!), and the breakfast potatoes. Even though I feel like those are my highlights, everything that we had was so incredibly delicious. My fiancé and I took turns passing back and forth the burger and sandwich we got for lunch. There was no talking while we were eating which is how you know it was GOOD. I would love to come back the next time we are in the area for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The food is always good and the prices are reasonable. I love the ambience of the place. The owner, Larry is frequently there and is pleasant to talk to. really wish i could be writing a better review, because i very much like this business. having worked as a corporate trainer for a coffee chain i really do have to review on this coffee. This was a dairy free latte with caramel syrup. it came out as a espresso over warmed milk with caramel (actual, with milk). while i am in total forgiveness of not being cognisant of the presence of dairy in Caramel, the preparation of the milk is what bothered me. the purpose of a steaming wand is not to simply heat milk, but it is to separate the water and sugar from the fats of the milk. to achive this you typically will angle the tip of the wand at the edge of the milk in the jar to heat and agitate the milk. water and sugar form at the top as foam, and the fats sink to the bottom. use a spatula or spoon to strain pour the fats, top with foam optionally for decoration. instead the wand was placed into a stationary jar and left to run. the jar was pulled before the milk even came to temp, and any separation of fat was not achieved. this would be "ok" for a $3 cup, but into unreasonable on a $6 cup. the flavoring was also poured before the milk without mixing which sank the flavoring and prevented a consistent flavor profile. i feel terrible leaving this review on a local small business, my intention is not to rip it. the customer service is excellent, the people warm and genuine. but attention needs to be paid to training on the espresso bar with a fundamental focus on "why am i doing this?" for process, as the fundamentals are lacking or misunderstood. read more

This is a go to place in the community. Tasty food, friendly service & gorgeous outside dining. The owner and staff are constantly improving the experience. We had a wonderful walk on the Arnold Rim Trail that has a trail into the Cedar Center and lunch here, Yahoo! The dog gets to hang out comfortably while we dine (with a full water bowl) and back to the Trail and the Logging Museum. We've also had a chance to see live music here in the summer. Visited Bistro Espresso for the first time while camping in the area. I appreciate that the food is fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken and artichoke sandwich on perfectly grilled sourdough bread. My husband had the steak sandwich on another perfectly grilled roll and the steak had the perfect BBQ/Smoked taste. We went to this restaurant yesterday and the food was really good so we returned today. Today they used powdered or boxed eggs that were not tasty and made me really sick (powdered eggs always upset my stomach). I wish I had been warned. My husband will eat nearly anything and he took one bite of his omelet and said it tasted "off" so he threw it away. It was way too crowded to complain to the staff about the meal today. The two girls at the front were quick and kind and answered mine and my sister's questions. We tried their flapjack plate and their chicken fried steak plate. The flapjacks were thick and the size of a plate and had cinnamon cooked into them. At first we weren't sure if it would be filling but halfway through we were more than full. The chicken fried stake was crispy without being soggy and the gravy went well. We got potatoes on the side and they were also really good, could've maybe used a tiny bit more salt if anything. Decent latte and they seem to be the only game in town for espresso drink takeout, although maybe other places have coffee but it isn't their primary business. They offer hot breakfast dishes made to order. They were only taking cash when I went, which is annoying, but there's a bank nextdoor if one needs an atm. There's plenty of parking. There's a nice patio and another outdoor seating area in the back. They are also a bbq place, apparently, with daily specials of Tri tip, bbq chicken, ribs, and pulled park when I was there. The establishment only had about a third of its tables occupied and I spent 30 minutes trying to get an order in, only to be told --after they took my payment--that they didn't have the item I had ordered. To add insult to injury, they refused to refund the full amount of my order because I had consumed some of the fountain drink while waiting for my order. We went here for lunch on our way to the Calaveras big trees. I got the grilled portobello & polenta "sandwich" The portobello mushroom was raw & the polenta was cold. The best part of the dish was the coleslaw side. My wife got the turkey sandwich with fries. The bacon was raw and the turkey was ok. The fries weren't salted at all. My son did enjoy his chicken strips and fries. But that is a really hard dish to mess up. read more
