Angels Camp, we spent the night before we head to the cabin for T day. This place was close and we were hungry. Ample parking, looks like this was a dennys at one time but has been throughly remodeled with current fixtures etc. We had only one server on the floor this morning and it showed. We waited patiently as we should, life moves slower up this way. The short menu covered the basics and had all you would need for a meal, open till 2pm. M did a half pancake order, one instead of two pancakes, with fruit. An Omelet for me, add ur own ingredients, add protein is extra $. Fruit for me no potato, add a side of bacon (4) that we can share. Some water and a coffee Oh wait and add a strawberry shake togo. The food was out in good order, warm not hot, my cooked well bacon was cooked brittle...okay. The fruit dish was sliced bananas, blackberries and a few blueberries, served in an 8z dish. The portions were fair for the price these days. What I found is the atmosphere was just not there for me. Sure it was newish and modern but also cold and not very friendly. There was no character, no personality, nothing interesting from the dining room to the plate. Sure the food was ok but I doubt many locals are in here on a regular basis I didn't see them. Our Strawberry shake to go was well in a word "flavorless". As I think about this review, adding up the stars I'm just trying to finish and move on to our day, I know that will be more interesting. food guy_martin

The largest stuffed baked potato I have ever had is this surf and turf potato. After losing 85lbs I know I get at least 2 meals (take home half) and this will last me 3 more meals so 4 total! Tender beef, crab, loaded with cheese, this was one seriously good potato. "You don't make friends with salad" as they say but this salad was perfect. Fresh veggies, no head lettuce, and ranch dressing. Presentation was good along the potato. My wife got the pancakes and I like thin pancakes, almost like a thick Swedish pancake. These were thinner yet still fluffy and perfectly golden brown with your choice of Maple or Berrry Syrup. The Berry syrup was very good and soaked into the pancake perfectly. Great flavor. This is my first visit as they are brand new. We love Toscano's in Murphys owned by the same. We will definitely be back with friends for breakfast as breakfast is served all day and that puts a lot of smiles on people who love breakfast any time. Service was great, very attentive but not over bearing. Zero complaints. I saw some of the other reviews and there are only a few so we'll be back for a follow up review. 5 stars

We stopped by here for brunch on our way to Yosemite. How can you pass up a place with such a curious name? Despite being called the Golden Frog there were none on the menu. The place is very clean and tidy inside. The server came immediately, got us waters, and took our order. I really liked my French toast with maple syrup and sides of hash browns and sunny side up eggs perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed their meals as well. Check them out!

We were up in Angels camp for the weekend and decided to try a breakfast spot. This is a fairly new family owned establishment. They also own another restaurant in Murphy's. It is a spacious room so has potential to get crowded. We ordered a scramble and omelette breakfast. While the eggs were great, the hash browns were very overly done and we couldn't eat much of them. The parts we could taste were tasty just needed to pull them off sooner and would have been fine. The side of bacon was done to our liking and French toast was fluffy and had a good cinnamon flavor. The coffee unfortunately was slightly more than lukewarm so didn't taste as good as a fresh hot pot would have been but was ok. Service however was fantastic! The staff was young but attentive and asked throughout if we needed anything. We did provide the feedback on the hashbrowns for future to them. Overall high potential just needed to make a few tweaks and they can easily slide up to four stars.

Chicken-fried steak n eggs

This was a little jewel for breakfast! Everything was fresh and delicious. There was homemade mango salsa that they gave me to put on my eggs with a thick perfectly cooked chicken fried steak and homemade gravy. The hashbrowns were plentiful and perfectly cooked tender yet crispy and they were very generous with the avocado on top. Coffee was hot and strong just like I like it and the service was impeccable. What a find

There's a handful of seats inside, but most of the action happens outside on the porch hence "Porch Cafe," of course. You order at the register, grab a number, and pick your spot. The decor is rustic and cozy in the best way. Total charm overload. The menu's right there by the register, and they've got sandwiches and salads, exactly what we were craving. Sandwiches come in full or half sizes, and I went with the half. It comes with a side, and I picked the Pesto Mac. It did not disappoint. I could've made a full meal out of just that. Drink-wise, they've got a solid lineup, alcoholic and non. I went full nostalgia with a Shirley Temple, and if you're a plain-water person, there's a self-serve station for that too. Our food came out fast, and the portions floored us, that "half" sandwich was anything but small. Generous doesn't even cover it. The staff sealed the deal - friendly all around, from the woman who took our order to whoever swung by to check on us and box up our leftovers. Such a gem for a laid-back lunch. Highly recommend!

Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! my daughter is a picky eater, she got the kids menu turkey sandwich, she loved it! And then we got lemon bars and chocolate cake and snuck it into the movie theater! The service and friendliness was probably the best I've had (which is relatively non-existence in this area). The decor and atmosphere was top notch! We especially loved the "presidential sign" on the wall to the right of the front counter We will definitely be making this one of our stops before movies (since the Sonora movie theater is closed.. We will be back! Thank you picked porch!

Even though it was late on a Tuesday the patio was still busy. We got a nice table outside because it was a beautiful day and we had our GSD with us. Shared the beet salad and the chicken burrito and also a kids hamburger with fries for the pup ( fries were for us). PROTIP: We took the option to split each dish by the kitchen and although it cost a couple bucks more, you get a little more of everything! Beet salad was solid with perfect allocations of all ingredients. I would say it was a bit heavy on the dressing but I like minimal dressing and my partner said it was perfect so there you go. The burrito was "wet" and delicious! Lots of flavor fresh ingredients and very saucy. Only thing it lacked was a little heat. Ask for tapatio if you like a little spice. The hamburger by the way, was larger than a normal hamburger you get on the kiddie menu. And the fries were piping hot and fresh. Our dog loved the burger as he should and we downed all the fries. Highly recommend and will be back!

When the dish was placed before me the bread slid to the other side of the white dish that had no other accompanying garnish like a piece of lettuce or parsley. It was one, maybe a 2" x 5" very thin piece of sourdough toast. Hardly a snack. Bacon was obviously cooked hours before and very overcooked. This dish was hardly appetizing as it was covered by three slices of very crispy bacon which fell to the side, revealing about four microscopic chips of tomato and 4 of avocado. The avocado was over ripe and black and I could barely see the yellow tomato. I was very disappointed in the visual appearance of this dish, to say the least! And the ingredients were barely present to illicit any flavor. I was given silverware, but upon trying to cut the toast the whole thing fell apart. I pieced it together and used my hands. Now, I know fresh food items are expensive, but this item in no way warranted the price of $16.75! I do not recommend this very busy, seemingly popular eatery.

We started our meal with a delicious mocktail with sodw, lime, pineapple and? Then had a second with our shared skirt steak dinner. We are fiber fans in our 7th decade. I'd never eaten broccolini, unsophisticated me. Are the stems supposed to be tender as the asparagus stem end cut off and thrown away? Ours was. Great jaw exercise for our flapping chins and Lordy, Lordy! Such fiber. The steak and starch side were good. The dessert coffee (for me) and carrot cake (for us) was second among the several desserts on our south-north Spring 2026 Marathon Drive and Family Responsibility Tour. The advisor at our Best Western mentioned Mike's Pizza, a Thursday night Bocche Bowler on the Camps pitch mentioned Gus's Steak House. It was a fine night with the quiet, romantic elements Yelp is always quizzing about. Would we return or...too much fiber?

We ordered a few things such as as the duck prosciutto sandwich, raw oysters, clam chowder, and the absolute star of the show, a side of the spicy habanero garlic butter! The bread for the duck prosciutto sandwich was amazing. I just wish they put more meat and/or fixing because the sandwich was on the smaller side given the price tag. Tasty for sure, especially dipping the sandwich into the garlic butter. Oysters were super fresh, and wouldn't hesitate to order again. They have a bunch of jams and hot sauces that you can buy to take home, along with pre-packaged habanero garlic butter (which we ended up buying and have been putting on everything we've been eating). Definitely recommend picking up this butter for at-home cooking because it adds a nice layer of spice to any meal without being overly spicy. For the jams, there's so many options and the staff was kind enough to do a jam sampling with us and after tasting we ended up with a jar of their padron pepper jelly. Put it on my sandwich at home, instantly elevated it to another level. Staff from start to finish was a 10/10. Very kind, super attentive, and made us feel very welcomed. Overall, I'll definitely will be back to buy more of the spicy garlic butter and jams!
