Large chile relleño in the forefront.

This hidden little restaurant tucked away at the side of the road serves up some authentic mexican food!! I really enjoyed my combo plate of a pork tamal with a cheese enchilada. I asked for the sauces they put on top to be on the side. The pork inside the tamal was plentiful with just enough seasoning and masa shell. The cheese enchilada was good too and I appreciated the dollop of tasty guacamole/sour cream on top. I used a little of it as a dip for the tortilla chips that are served before the entrees. The refried beans were not salty and perfect with the fluffy, flavorful mexican rice. My friend stated her carne asada tostada bowl was delicious! Sitting inside here is like sitting in a large dining room in someone's cozy home. I only wish they would play some spanish guitar music in the background. Our server was a nice, younger gal who took care of us well. There's also seating outside but it's not warm enough weather yet for that. Take a nice Sunday drive out from the Valley to this place!

Combination shredded beef taco and chicken tamale - delicious!

Had lunch here on our way home from our annual visit to Big Trees State Park to view dogwood blossoms. Lunch was great. Actually lunch and dinner the next day was great since they give you so much food in their combination plates. I had the chile relleno (skip the red sauce) and a side of freshly made guacamole with chips. My husband had the combination plate (shredded beef taco and chicken tamale). Tasted like old school authentic Mexican food (at least what we think of as authentic). The rice was delicious, refried beans on point, but best of all the taco and tamale. Both delicious! My relleno was so good I kept thinking I should've ordered two, but there's always next time. The guacamole was freshly made (a bit too much lime for my taste, but I still managed to eat it all the following day). The restaurant was small and clean. Service was fine. We recommend this place if you're looking for a nice and casual lunch/dinner spot.

They let you have dogs on the back deck.

There is more parking in back. Our waitress was quick getting our drinks and order. She recommended the Gonzo tacos. My husband ordered the Enchiladas Poblanas. They have a nice back deck that allows dogs. For $10.95 we had the Gonzo's Tacos Two fried tacos filled with a mix of carne asada, chorizo, melted cheese & our delicious spicy hot red diabla sauce. I really liked them but they are spicy lingering on your tongue. I liked the enchilada but my husband thought the creamy green sauce was too rich $14.95. I thought the prices are good too. Our Mexican restaurant's in the bay area is average about $17 a dish now. This is a good stop if you have dogs on the way up to Big Trees.

A very good restaurant with authentic Mexican flavor, just like being in Mexico. Because of my work I travel a lot and eat at different restaurants, and this is one that I wholeheartedly recommend to those who want to try the authentic taste of Mexico. I recommend the carne asada; well, that's what I ate.

Had to try this place for dinner again, the food was good as it was last time we dined here! I love the enchiladas with the mole sauce. The food is definitely home made real Mexican food. The drinks are great. The service is always great and the place is nice and clean.

Very clean little spot. took a minute for server to come out & greet us. She was nice. Chips and salsa ok. Relleno was homemade but bland. My veggie burrito was also bland. And.. I felt queasy after a few hours until next morning:( I don't think we would come back.. unfortunately.

I enjoyed the Chile relleno with a margarita and the service was excellent. The salsa was fresh and spicy

We absolutely love Angels. We come to Angels camp a few times a year and we always stop to eat at Angels or take it to go. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas are all fresh and flavorful. Thanks for the great food.

Every day should be taco day! When friends say, let's go have a fun extended weekend away, it's my moral imperative to pack an overnight bag and just do it! Our first stop, was an angel's Mexican kitchen. The restaurant had a funky odor to it that did not smell like food, but that did not distract us from ordering and enjoying our meals. Chips, salsa, and ice water were immediately brought to the table for us to enjoy while we perused the menu. We all ordered some variation of different taco dishes. I ordered Gonzo's tacos with no produce. The tacos were filled with a generous amount of beef and chorizo, and the key to making this extra delicious, was the generous amount of cheese that was at both the bottom portion of the tacos, as well as on top of the meat. Perfection in every bite. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the taco shells were lightly crisp. So, so delicious! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and checked on us a number of times to make sure that we were enjoying our meal, and to ask if we needed anything. This is definitely a great place to stop when you're in Angels Camp, and are Jonesing for a good taco or two!

Parking is easy and if you need gas, there's a shell literally right there. The menu is extensive. There were so many options that we did not know what to choose. Nonetheless, we wanted to try them all, but wish we had more people. We ordered: -Nachos (big portion and the chips were great) -Fish taco (nice and crispy) -Lengua burrito -Lengua chimichanga (so crispy, was one of our favs) -Lengua and al pastor crispy tacos (love the shell they used here) -Birria tacos (good, but not up there for us) Everything we tried was great. Loved that they had a chips and huge salsa/sauce bar. 10/10 would recommend. They have outdoor seating, which was perfect since we had dogs. They do not serve any alcohol, only have aqua frescas or horchata. However, there was a sign that said no alcohol behind this point (the street), so we bought some at the gas station and drank it in the patio.

He said the chicken fried steak tasted good, but it got soggy pretty quickly. The hash browns were amazing though definitely tasted freshly made. Eggs were just okay. Ample parking, looks like this was a dennys at one time but has been throughly remodeled with current fixtures etc. We had only one server on the floor this morning and it showed. We waited patiently as we should, life moves slower up this way. The short menu covered the basics and had all you would need for a meal, open till 2pm. M did a half pancake order, one instead of two pancakes, with fruit. An Omelet for me, add ur own ingredients, add protein is extra $. Fruit for me no potato, add a side of bacon (4) that we can share. Some water and a coffee Oh wait and add a strawberry shake togo. The food was out in good order, warm not hot, my cooked well bacon was cooked brittle...okay. The fruit dish was sliced bananas, blackberries and a few blueberries, served in an 8z dish. The portions were fair for the price these days. What I found is the atmosphere was just not there for me. Sure it was newish and modern but also cold and not very friendly. There was no character, no personality, nothing interesting from the dining room to the plate. Sure the food was ok but I doubt many locals are in here on a regular basis I didn't see them. Our Strawberry shake to go was well in a word "flavorless". As I think about this review, adding up the stars I'm just trying to finish and move on to our day, I know that will be more interesting. food guy_martin
