We handed it to the staff, expecting at least a raised eyebrow, and instead they took it straight to the kitchen, made sure everyone knew, and were incredibly careful about avoiding cross-contact. They treated it with total professionalism, and we really appreciated it. The coffee was fantastic, the food was great, and the customer service was even better. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Meanwhile, the standalone Starbucks is probably still deciding whether to put the folding chair in front of the drive-thru or the front door while someone contemplates whether they should make cold brew or mad dog customers. For "1." It's nice to have a place that remembers the whole point is actually serving customers. Church & Main keeps giving us reasons to come back. Easy five stars.

What a quaint little coffee shop in downtown Sutter Creek!…read more We were running some errands the other week and I needed an afternoon pick-me-up. I remembered that Chocolatte was nearby and decided to go support a local business. It's been a hot minute since I've gotten a coffee from them, and I was intrigued by their Valentine's Day menu. Ultimately I went with an iced Cupid's Cherry Kiss, while my husband wanted an affogato with extra shot. The staff were friendly and efficient at making our beverages. While we waited, we took a seat by the window to people watch. My drink was so cute, especially with the sprinkles. They added a lovely texture to a velvety chai. I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet even with the sprinkles and cherry white chocolate. As expected, the affogato was strong with the extra shot, but still smooth without being bitter. I need to remember to come back to Chocolatte more often. There's plenty of seating and the vibes are so cozy. Prices are okay, a little high but I'd rather be supporting a local business than Starbucks. They also have various pastries to choose from. We didn't get any this time but they all looked so fresh and good. PS: They also serve Gunther's ice cream!

The next morning, we heard from the locals the Choc-O-Latte that serves good breakfast so we went. It is known for its specialty coffees, lattes, and a wide variety of chocolates and desserts, including truffles, eclairs, and s'mores treats. The cafe offers a cozy, historic atmosphere making it a great spot for a quick treat. The cafe has an outdoor patio, and is dog-friendly as we met one who was popular and friendly with the locals. We ordered almond croissants and lattes and were delicious. Other friend had ice cold chai latte. The servers were young and nice. We don't mind returning to their nice cafe shop if we are in the area.

Nothing beats grabbing an iced coffee on a lovely spring afternoon…read more I was in Jackson for some errands and wanted to check out the local coffee shop. It's been on my list for a while, but every time I wanted to go, it's been closed. Be forewarned that Boilerworks closes at 3 pm daily. The cafe sits in a quiet area at the end of Main Street, so it can be somewhat easy to miss. I ordered one of their specialty drinks, dubbed The Artemus, which is a hazelnut dirty chai with caramel sauce. There were no photos on Yelp showing the current menu and prices (until now as I'm sharing a photo of the menu), so I was a bit surprised by the cost of my drink. For a small town, I wasn't expecting to pay almost $10 for my chai. Note that I'm used to higher drink prices as I have plenty of boba, but none of my boba drinks have ever cost $10, however. I took it with a grain of salt and chalked it up to supporting a local small business. The nice lady/cafe owner made my Artemus for me super quickly, as I was the only customer. Her black Lab, which was adorable, was sleeping by her desk when I walked in. Upon receiving my drink, I took a seat outside at one of the metal stools. I didn't see the bookstore featured in the Yelp photos, so next time I'll have to return to check it out. The Artemus had a good flavor and thankfully, for the price, my cup was not full of ice (like some other big chain coffee place *cough cough*). Also, the iced drinks only come in one size (20 oz). To be fair, I think the drink is worth the price as it's definitely not watered down and it's taking me a while to finish it (currently typing this review while birdwatching on our property). All in all, while the prices are a bit steep, I would still recommend Boilerworks Cafe, and it's conveniently in downtown Jackson right off the 49.

That's kind of like a steakhouse running out of steak before dinner. Then there's the mystery chair sitting right in the middle of the drive-thru entrance. What's the plan there? Is it a checkpoint? A timeout chair? Am I supposed to pull up, have a seat, and wait for someone to explain why my Cold Foam Horchata is now a work of fiction? You can't drive around it, so it feels oddly intentional. To make matters worse, Little Caesars is right next door. If I sit in that chair long enough, I'm convinced someone's going to hand me a cup of ranch instead of coffee. And the staff? Let's just say the energy matched the empty cold brew tap--completely gone. I've seen more enthusiasm from a self-checkout machine. It felt like I interrupted a group project they didn't want to be part of in the first place. No smiles, no urgency, just vibes of "you're lucky we're even open." The whole experience felt like the coffee version of showing up to a pool party and finding out they forgot to fill the pool--and then getting attitude for asking where the water is. On the bright side, the Starbucks inside Safeway just earned itself a 5-star review for simply existing and apparently keeping cold brew in stock.
