    three jars of candy

Let me just start by saying that I have not had chocolate like this in California. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you stepped into a different era. The decor, the ambiance, the ladies behind the counter in their lovely get up and the sweet smell all transports you to a different time. We got a bunch of different types of chocolates and candies (New Year Resolutions not withstanding. Our favorite chocolates out of all our loot were: 1. Australian pears dipped in chocolate 2. Orange peel dipped in chocolate 3. Ginger dipped in chocolate 4. English toffee was one of the best I have ever had 5. Pine nut rounds 6. Honeycomb dipped in chocolate From the candies we got, we really liked the Australian Strawberry Licorice and the Dutch Mix licorice. I am not a big licorice fan but this licorice was very soft and yummy. Also, the fresh fruit chews were amazing, we got all the flavors and they were all super good. A big shout out to the lovely ladies, very patient and helpful to customers.

Love this little candy store, lots of nice stuff to serve our sweet tooth. Sea salt almond dark chocolate is awesome. They have a good protocol for crowd control, limited visitors are allowed at the store at anytime

Limited amount of customers allowed in due to covid, and precautions taken are much appreciated! Good selection of goodies, and they're delicious as well! Slightly steep prices but hey, you're paying for quality. The area is super cute and you can't miss this little gem!

I love candy stores! We stumbled across Nelson's while checking out Columbia State Historic Park. As we were walking down Main Street, we decided to check it out and I'm glad we did! Once you walk in, you'll instantly feel like you've stepped back in time during the gold rush era. Even more, the staff are decked out in dresses from that time period. The shop was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. They offer many different types of candy- from hard candies to decadent chocolates offered in milk, dark and white chocolate. The woman behind the counter was very attentive and patient as we looked around and decided what to get. I asked for some recommendations and she kindly shared with me the more popular candies. There were so many options to choose from, but I wanted to try a little bit of what they had to offer. I got: -lemon hard candies -homemade jellies (raspberry, blackberry, cranberry) -sea salt chocolates in milk and dark -milk chocolate haystack -English toffee (puts See's Candies version to shame) -milk chocolate marshmallow caramel bar My favorites were the hard candies, homemade jellies, English toffee and the milk chocolate marshmallows caramel bar. I love the fact that the jellies are made with real fruit! And you can taste it in every bite. The chocolate haystack was very salty and I didn't care for the sea salt chocolates. The candies are priced by the pound except for a select number of chocolates which are individually priced. A must stop if you're checking out the park!

It was a bit smaller but the options did NOT disappoint they had my favorite chocolate marshmallow treats just one thing I wish they had was more sour candy options. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough because there is always a lot going on in these candy shops but I never seem to find the sour stuff, I will try harder to keep an eye out next time! The service is wonderful there was an older lady who helped me that was SO sweet and she was on it! Being that it was 4th of July weekend as you can imagine this place was PACKED! But I still got my chocolates! I didn't get her name but she's an absolute sweetheart so major shout out to her!! The vibe as I mentioned was very busy lol. It's similar to the Columbia location but about half the size therefore half the crowd but still busy as heck! Perhaps heading there when they first open and all the chocolates and sweet treats are fresh is key to avoid the crowds!! All and all 1000/10 I will always come back to here!! What an amazingly woman SO good at her craft with these beautiful soaps and candles, I already can't wait to come back and see her to get a couple birthday presents for my sister and bestie in July! (It's not possible to post a "review" without a star rating, so I picked what I thought would be a neutral 3 stars.) The shop has appeared to be closed, with curtains shut, every time I've passed by for years. Based on the appearance from the outside, I thought it was possible it was just an empty storefront from a business that had gone away years ago. Based on the posted hours on Yelp, which indicated it would be open today (Sunday, April 14, 2024) from noon to 6:00 p.m., I made a specific trip there. Unfortunately, when I arrived at 12:20 p.m., the door was padlocked shut (possibly the owner's normal method of locking the door), the curtains were (still) shut, and there were no posted hours of operation. This strikes me as a surprising way to run a business. Not knowing reliable hours of operation, I definitely won't make another trip to Jamestown to try this fudge, but I suppose I might see if the shop is open if I am in Jamestown for another purpose.

What stands out immediately is how kind and welcoming the owners are. This is truly a family-run shop, and you can feel the intention behind everything they do. We bought a hoodie, hat, and t-shirt for my daughter's birthday, and she has been wearing them every single day since. The quality is incredible! I mean really. These are not cheaply made pieces. You can feel the difference right away in the fabric, the fit, and the durability. What makes this place even more special is the heart behind it. It's not just about business. It is about people. They genuinely care about the families who walk through their doors and he went out of his way to offer products that reflect that. They do not jack up the prices but the quality is better than an REI or Sax 5th Avenue. I know good quality and these items are made very well.
