I went to strings last night because I was craving their Eggplant Parmesan. The minestrone soup was thin and not as robust as usual. The eggplants was sour and tasted nothing like eggplant. I ate some of the pasta on the plate and sent the rest back. I told them why, but no one seemed very concerned about looking into it and came back and said they just cut the eggplant. I told them to taste it because it taste sour and nothing like eggplant. They were going to come my meal, but insisted on paying for a soup and left the server a good tip because it wasn't her fault. Strings in Jackson California is my husband and I's go to place before we go to the casino now we stopped in one night before we had went to the casino and the waiter I forgot to get his name is such a friendly nice guy and I had asked him about the Dijon chicken if it was good and he told me it was something that he always gets and I tried it and I am hooked you guys seriously you have to go try it all of their food is good but this one dish is so reasonable in price and The Taste is amazing it comes with sweet potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts out of this world read more

A group (10 adults & 4 young children) went to Strings in Jackson California. The food was good and plenty of food. Service was good not excellent. A few hiccups but fine. My problem came with payment. My husband and I asked for a separate check. We gave 18% tip. The next day I looked at the receipt and they had added 18% gratuities now we gave them another 18%. The next day I stopped in and asked them to show me on the menu were it says they add the gratuity. It was on the back of the menu. I asked why we were not told that a group of 8 or more would automatically add 18% because some people (like me) don't read the menu cover to cover. I was told it was policy not to bring it up because some people got offended and some leave. He said it is on the menu and receipt. I told him lesson learned and Thank you. Now I know I HAVE TO be more diligent and ask and read everything. I told him I didn't go over my receipt when I received it because I expected it to be correct. I am giving them 3 stars because I don't like being blindsided and surprised. BTW I didn't go back to ask for my money back and just wanted to hear what they had to say before I posted anything. We reserved the banquet room for 35 people. The tables were ready when we arrived. Bella and Michelle were our servers and they were awesome. They got our orders in quickly and handled our requests without any issues. I give those two ladies more than 5 stars. The food was great and my group had a wonderful evening. This was our first time here, and it won't be our last. We came for dinner on a Saturday night, and had the Stuffed Mushroom, and Artichoke dip starters. Both came out piping hot, and are full of flavor. I highly recommend them both. For dinner we shared the all you can eat Cafe salad. It has a bunch of ingredients, comes with creamy Italian dressing, and all you can eat Garlic Cheese Rolls. My wife had the Zoodles, and I had the Balsamic, Parmesan Chicken.. both were specials, and they looked just like the pictures on the menu. My compliments to the kitchen staff. Very well presented, and prepared perfectly. Our server was on the top of her game the moment she introduced herself, and boxed up our leftover food, and to go dessert, with extra care. Took my wife there for the first time, and the experience was great! We were met by our server, Alisha, who said she had been there for ten years. Very freindly and professional, as well as knowing the menu. The food was excellent, as well served promptly and HOT! A concept that is lost on a lot of restaurants in Amador county. The decor was simple, yet tastefully done. Clean floors and tables, and nice artwork on the walls. We will be making a return visit very soon with friends for sure. read more

Oh beautiful day! I love strings! I love their food... I love everything about this chain of restaurants but saddened to say that lots of locations keep going out of business! I was thrilled that on my way. To the casino, I spotted this location right off the road! I knew I would come back here the next day to see if I could grab a lunch and if this was the same food that I have come to enjoy over the years. To my pure excitement.....it was! I was there right at 11am when they open and was greeted by Diana who was more than friendly and accommodating. I asked if they still carried the lasagna pastry and the all-you-can-eat salad and bread with the awesome dressing ... When she said yes we sure do.... I said hook it up! She was fantastic, very friendly and very quick and efficient. The food was cooked to Perfection.... my salad was awesome and the bread was like usual ... yummy. This is such a fantastic find as I will be coming to the casino throughout 2019 for a lot of good comcerts and staying the night and now my favorite place for Italian food is 10 minutes away and will be a must stop every time on the way home! We came here for dinner after a ski trip to Kirkwood. We ordered pasta Siena, portofino cioppino and shrimp fra diavolo. The portion was huge and every entree comes with the choice of a salad or soup. The taste is so home made and authentic! Our waitress was very friendly and responsive. Wow, amazing dinner, great prices for the quality of entrees, well stocked table condiments and spices, great selection menu, excellent staff all doing their jobs, every table looked happy and the food was excellent and arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was well staffed, clean, festive (valentines balloons and glitter hearts) and we all enjoyed our night. We wanted for nothing. Our drinks were refilled regularly, cracked pepper offered, I was asked if I wanted a lemon or not (A+ for that), dessert was offered and I was asked how I wanted it, and our food was warm throughout the meal. That means you kept the plates hot and it was served promptly. Not only do I recommend Strings to couples and families but I will return more often. I'm sure someone could have a bad night here but I have a feeling if it's a current review they may be a little off if they give this place a poor rating. I think it's worth your time and money to eat here. Food: Our food was very good and well spiced. Nothing was too salty (salt is a sign off poor ingredients), the pasta was cooked aaldente, the sauces were flavorful and not grossly thick or too thin, the mashed potatoes had remnants of red potato skin showing they use genuine red potatoes and not instant potatoes, the short ribs had a charred skin that was overly salty, my chicken was grilled with genuine char marks, raviolis were the perfect texture with creamy filling and came with 11-12 raviolis, our dishes that included mushrooms had a healthy portion of them, the pasta meat sauce was thick with a great flavor of mild peppers and tasted homemade and fresh, the bread was served hot and fresh, and our salad included lots of goodies with a good size portion. Service: We were checked on so many times I lost count. We were asked very specific questions about how we wanted things, if we wanted lemon in our drinks, if I wanted less ice, how was our meals, did we want dessert, did we want more salad, did we want our olive oil left at the table, and the list goes on. We have eaten here before, we only visit Jackson a few times a year. It is usually fantastic. I ordered the Tuscan steak, it was way to soft for me, it was cooked perfectly but it had the texture of jello. They took it back, she was wonderful by the way, i got another dish and it was absolutely delicious. The lasagna is the best. What bugged me is I had to pay for the steak meal, hmmmmm. She said thats policy, but the steak was not good at all, I guess I should have had the Chef taste it and tell me his opinion of how soft the steak was, it was a gnarly texture. Oh well, go to a pasta place, order pasta, they do that perfectly..... love this restaurant, wish we had one in Nevada. My friend had eggplant parmisian and she at the whole thing... yum. read more

Diane was our server for 2 adults and a 10 yr old dining. We scored cause it happened to be Sunday and you get a free kids meal when you order an adult meal. We ordered 2 meals and 1 child meal for the table. The service was mediocre. When we received the bill, Diane charged us for kids meal. Her reasoning was because the meal was sitting in front of me, one of the adults so she charged me. She had just given me a box to put the kids meal in minus 3 bites. She did take charge off bill. To be really nice I rewarded her for her attitude, much to my dismay with a good tip. I watched how she interacted with other customers and she was much nicer and exchanged smiles to the people not foreigners. I require smaller portions. I often share a meal with my husband and still tip as if we had 2 meals because I enjoy tipping when I receive good service. She did not deserve but perhaps whomever she had to share it with did. I love their food here. But I have to say twice we've been here and had issues the first time my husband was served the wrong food and was ignored when told they served the wrong food to him. The check was not adjusted or nor was anything offered to him to rectify the situation. The second time the chicken on the fettuccine Alfredo was burnt and they didn't take it off the check nor was it even offered nor nothing was offered to rectify that situation. If you ask me that's not good customer service. I just think they need some work on how they handle things when things go wrong. read more

Strings in Jackson, Martell to be exact, is a great place to enjoy a quick, inexpensive lunch or dinner. My family is from Northern Italy so some of the dishes are not as authentic as we would get at home, but everything that I have had a Strings is very good and very enjoyable. I love the Lasagna Pastry, the Mussels are delicious and there are so many dishes to choose from that there is something for everyone.There's a 'Specials' menu with new dishes to try all the time. Some of the staff has been there since the restaurant opened and are very knowledgeable about the menu. I enjoy trying the specials at the recommendation of my server. It's always a lot of fun and I have never been disappointed. Having been a restaurant owner myself and understanding the unexpected challenges that can occur, it makes me smile to see Sharon, the owner, jump in to help out at a moments notice. I've been there when you are short staffed or a slow night suddenly turns into an exceptionally busy night after you just sent wait staff home. She also tries to visit the tables when she's there to say hello and to see how you are enjoying your lunch or dinner. Strings is a National Restaurant, but unlike other chains, each restaurant is independently owned and the food is freshly prepared. If you're in hurry, it might not be the right place for you, but if you want good food, a menu with variety, a friendly staff and atmosphere try Strings. read more
