It's kind of hidden and you can definitely walk past it and miss it.. but we stopped by today cause we were craving sandwiches and let me tell you their selection is definitely different but their sandwiches are 15 out of 10. This place is in a small town and you order and pickup food at a counter with limited outdoor seating. The sandwiches were a little underwhelming based on the reviews and the price point. I tried the char siu and meat lovers sandwiches which were both on nicely grilled Texas toast. The flavor of the char siu sandwich reminded me of cake noodle and beef broccoli because of the ramen noodles and the overall flavor of the sauce. I didn't get any of the bamboo shoots in the sandwich or maybe they were chopped really small? The char siu was decent, not super tender and not the typical char siu flavor but it wasn't bad. The meat lovers sandwich had a noticeable sweet flavor I'm assuming from the spaghetti sauce but it really lacked depth. It honestly reminded me of canned spaghetti and a sloppy joe. It also seemed like there was no ranch dressing even though it's part of the sandwiches name. I appreciate the creativity and whimsy they've put into their menu. Stopped by this sandwich shop on the way up to Apple Hill. Saw the Yelp reviews and looked promising. It's basically a walk up in a small plaza with some tables. Cute spot. Definitely good for people watching. Got a couple sandwiches: Banh Mi - seeing the list of ingredients I was excited for this one. Never seen a place use lap chung in banh mi. The sandwich itself was kind of underwhelming. First of all, it's not on a French roll. Because of this, the moisture from the slaw soaked the entire bottom bun, making it difficult to eat. Also, the lap chung was slice into small coin sized pieces, rather than lengthwise, which means it all fell out when you tried to eat the sandwich. All the ingredients inside pretty much masked the taste of the sausage so you really didn't get the taste. I didn't get how this was supposed to be a banh mi. Honey Walnut - this was ok. Kind of standard honey walnut. In theory this sounded great but it's a tad rich and needs something to cut through it. So glad we stopped by this sandwich shop on our drive to tahoe (I think it's gonna be a new go to when we're in the area)! My husband got the smoked oyster sandwich and I got the Kimchi and Spam sandwich and we were both wowed by the unique combinations and how well the ingredients all worked together. Oyster sandwich: this was like a next level BLT. The crunch and flavor from the bacon was perfect, the oysters were subtle but delicious, and the microgreen mix was refreshing. My husband normally hates pickles but he didn't mind them in this sandwich. Spam and kimchi: wow, the toffee peanut butter sauce was incredible. I could order a jar of that. I loved how well it balanced with the kimchi flavors and the kewpie dressed slaw. My only wish was that we could order halves of sandwiches instead and be able to try more of a variety, because the sandwiches are quite large (and priced accordingly) so I wasn't able to finish mine. But I do hope to come with a bigger group next time and hopefully we can split a few sandos to share. I absolutely want to try the thanksgiving sandwich, honey walnut prawns, and maybe even the 4 cheese or grape and feta ones. Creative sandwich combinations, innovative ways on food recreation! This was such a suprise find, tucked away in Placerville. I got the chicken satay and the spam and kimchi sandwich. The chicken satay sandwich was really good! Perfect stuffing to bread ratio. It was more of a turmeric seasoning rather than a satay one (which emphasizes more on the charcoal grill and peanut sauce). The spam and kimchi was also really good. However there was too much stuffing (to bread ratio). The was a large amount of regular coleslaw, and I would've preferred more kimchi or a kimchi coleslaw of sorts! Super delicious sandwiches! They are a bit heavy and some were a little too sweet for our tastebuds, but certainly worth trying. Not sure how this place is even in business. Absolutely horrible ambience, rude & unhygienic workers, 30+ minute wait and we were the first customer of the day?, the menu doesn't make any sense, and to top it all off.... multiple and extremely long HAIRS were embedded into the coleslaw of our "Chicken Satay" sandwich. They immediately remade it but I was so disgusted and turned off by everything else, I took one bite and let my friend eat the rest. Oh yeah! First time here too. I will never come back. On our way home from camping we wanted to find a great deli and thankfully I had bookmarked this place on Yelp after hearing about it. It's located on the historic Main Street which I've not been to in 40 years! You place your order at a window and boy was it challenging to narrow down what to get. The menu offers incredible and unusual sandwiches. They were a bit too creative for the grandkids yet thankfully they offered a kids burger or grilled cheese. There is a shady patio to eat and your order is delivered to you. I will add that the prices are higher than your normal deli sandwich but they are packed with ingredients and pretty large. As a matter of fact, I had them cut my sandwich in half so I could bring half home, but the sandwich has so many goodies inside it did not fare to well. It was quite messy when I got home. Boy was it ever delicious though! I had the falafel sandwich packed with zesty ingredients. My granddaughters grilled cheese was one of the best (I snuck a bite). My daughter had the apple with Brie and honey which she liked but said it was a bit too sweet. My son-in-law had their version of bahn mi and he loved all the ingredients inside of it. Everyone from the area I meet praises Timmy's Brown Bag and I definitely get the hype now! It is takeout only but there are several tables inside the alley to grab a seat at. Every sandwich is made to order and each ingredient is thoughtfully put together. Service is great! The staff is super friendly and they really emphasized their ability to accommodate. They had run out of Texas toast for my Midwest Meat Lover's this morning, but I left them to their best judgment and my sandwich still came out delicious! The Chicken Satayam was also delicious and included a thick peanut butter that cut into the savory flavor of the chicken which made for such a well rounded sandwich. The thing I'm sure everyone loves about Timmy's is every sandwich sounds crazy, yet the flavors work; they carry unique options that you won't find anywhere else. I have been to Tahoe twice this year and this has been my go to stop and will continue to be so. The gastronomic flavors in each of the sandwiches go beyond anything I have ever imagined. My girlfriend and I both try new things every time whoever is behind this idea is a genius. After camping in the woods and eating beans for five days we were hungry for something different and Timmy's Brown Bag is exactly that! The menu is meant to drive a sane person loopy because of the fonts and I love it. I say this as someone who uses comic sans at work for funsies. But the fonts also kind of lean into all of the fun ingredients at play in these creations. Just the experience of reading the menu had me racking my brain to try and imagine the flavor profile of the offerings and I'd say you'll never guess. You just have to go for it. In my head the falafel was playing it safe. The falafel sandwich was so delicious and the flavors explode together to bring so much tang to something that a lot of places make boring with just hummus. We finally made it to the world famous Timmy's. All the gourmet magazine reviews are true here you will find a wide variety of unusual and delicious sandwiches, hamburgers, and tacos. The Mexican food is well prepared. The falafel sandwich is sensational, even though it's not served on a pita. There are nice tables outside to eat. Best sandwich shop! I live about an hour away and still visit about once a month. This place is amazing. It's a little hard to find if you don't use GPS. If you feel like you're lost, you're probably headed in the right direction. Timmy's is take-out only, but they do have a few outside tables on their patio. No public restrooms, but there are public restrooms in the adjacent public parking lot. I stumbled upon this place several months ago and every sandwich seemed a little odd. Almost every sandwich on the menu has you questioning "Why?!". As in- "why would you put that ingredient with the others" or "why would you put that on a sandwich?" Let me tell you, it's for good reason. The place is owned by a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef and he puts his expertise into every sandwich. If you look at the ingredients and think you wouldn't like something, trust me... just order it and be prepared for an explosion of flavor in your mouth! I usually get the SPAM/Kimchi sandwich or the Banh Mi. The Banh Mi is a little more traditional than a lot of the other menu items and is very good (even though I really prefer a traditional Banh Mi on a French roll). The SPAM/Kimchi is one of those sandwiches where the Le Cordon Bleu knowledge comes out! It comes on grilled brioche and is PACKED with ingredients. It has: SPAM, kimchi, grilled pineapple, chunky chili sauce peanut butter, pad Thai slaw, kewpie mayo, and Szechuan pepper peanuts. Probably weighs a pound. Even if you don't like kimchi (or SPAM), you should try it. I don't like kimchi and still get this sandwich most of the time. The peanuts on it give it a nice crunch that you wouldn't really expect. So many flavors in every bite that just hit you in all the right ways. I'd like to try all the sandwiches eventually, but sometimes it's hard to get out of my comfort zone when I know the ones I've ordered were amazing. I usually rate places on their food not other factors, like the fact that I was looking for kind of a less expensive place to grab a sandwich. Nice variety of savory and even some sweet. Good grilling has to be key to these creations, because you can't flip too early and have the ingredients fall out (make sure you bite carefully). They have outdoor place to eat if you're not taking away. Street parking might be challenging in this quaint historic part of Placerville's downtown. But there is a Public lot within walking distance along with public restroom building. I had the Brie & Pear sandwich which was to my expectation. They take a little long to make the sandwiches, but the wait is definitely worth it! Each sandwich was about $15, but was HEFTY. Definitely a big boi! My partner and I ordered 1 Spam and Kimchi and 1 Honey Walnut Prawns, but were each only able to finish half a sandwich each. Both sandwiches were delicious, but we both agreed that the spam and kimchi one was better! I would say that's some pretty high praise considering my partner is Korean and she was VERY skeptical about the sandwich combination at first. The flavors are really good but there are problems. For us, the menu is incomprehensible (not same as shown in yelp photos). Not knowing what to do, my wife asked if they had a BLT - her go to sandwich. The clerk suggested their Chinese barbeque pork so I gave it a whirl. Both tasted really good and both were big sandwiches - no need for anything else. However, the BLT was so juicy the bottom bread slice was saturated. Not wet, saturated. Mine was not as bad but very juicy. You have to be very careful to keep from dripping on yourself - DEFINATELY not for eating while you drive as we often do. read more

Incompetent or dishonest Went yesterday to try it. I placed my order and waited over 40 minutes at the shop, but never received my food. An employee finally noticed that I had still not been served. No one at the shop seemed concerned for their lack of basic performance, the staff just said I could wait longer and they would make my order or I could be refunded. By then the rest of my group (who had gone to eat someplace else and were already done) were there to pick me up so I asked for a refund. An employee did something at the register and said I had gotten my money back-- but I checked my credit card today and I don't know whether it was continued incompetence or dishonesty but no refund was given. After they made a mistake they appeared to be more interested in getting a customer to go away than in fixing it. read more
