Sweetie Pie's was a great find during our visit to Placerville. We were looking for a breakfast…read morespot to kick off the day, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The place has a unique, homey charm that makes you feel comfortable right away. We did have to wait a bit on a Sunday morning. A nice touch is that coffee is self-serve inside, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Wanting to try something different, I ordered the Chile Relleno Casserole. I'd never had anything like it for breakfast. It had a light, fluffy egg-based texture with chiles throughout, making for a really interesting and tasty dish. Overall, it was a great way to start our Placerville adventure, and I'd happily stop by again.

My first review was flagged and taken down, so here is number 2…read more.. We were seated at a tiny table right by a high-traffic doorway. We ordered coffee, a mimosa, pancakes, eggs, bacon, avocado toast, and hash browns. Then, our server vanished into thin air for a full 45 minutes. We watched the entire dining room empty, reset, and seat new guests. People who sat down long after us finished their meals and paid their checks before our food even touched the table. From what we can tell, our server went on a break and forgot to submit our order to the kitchen. When we tried to flag down other staff, they aggressively avoided eye contact. I was ready to shout, "Hey Sweetie, we just want our overpriced breakfast!" When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and wrong. The toast could have doubled as a brick. The hash browns were a culinary enigma--simultaneously burnt to a crisp and cold/raw in the center (I still can't fathom how that physics experiment works). Still no server in sight! When she finally ambled back, she was completely oblivious to the disaster, acting as if she had just delivered a Michelin-star dining experience. I eat out at least five times a week, and in my entire life, I have never left without tipping. Today was an absolute first. Sweetie Pie's, we won't be back. Not that anyone there will notice!

We've been coming to Enchanted Forest for the past 4-5 years, and it's become somewhat of an annual…read morefamily tradition after spending the day in Apple Hill. We drive up from the southern Central Valley, and this restaurant has always been one of those special places we look forward to visiting. Unfortunately, this year's experience felt a little different. We heard there may have been a change in ownership and some upcoming menu changes, although I can't confirm that. Whether that's related or not, the food just didn't seem to have that same incredible flavor we've come to love over the years. Our bill was over $370 for four people, so we definitely came ready to enjoy a nice dinner! The Brie was absolutely delicious, the steaks were decent, and the chicken was good. The drinks and local IPAs were tasty as always. The staff, however, deserve tremendous recognition. They were incredible! The service, hospitality, and overall enchanted atmosphere are still very much alive. That's something this restaurant continues to do exceptionally well. We unfortunately didn't catch the live folk music this time, which has always been another charming part of the experience. Overall, I'd give this visit an 8/10. It wasn't a bad experience by any means. It just didn't quite live up to the flavors and memories that made us fall in love with this restaurant in the first place. Would we return? Absolutely. There's too much history and tradition here for us to give up on it after one slightly disappointing visit. Maybe we'll make it an every-other-year tradition instead of an annual one. I genuinely hope the restaurant maintains the quality and uniqueness that made it so special. Wishing the entire team continued success. We'll be back!

THE PROS: A darling atmosphere, lit with flicking " torch" lights, overhanging branches, and tables and a bar with illuminated "streams" beneath the surface. Complementary "fairy light crowns" were super cute. No burgers and fries here, but a more elevated menu with shepherds pie, Filet Mignon, salmon, dessert crepes, and our selection - lobster fondue for 2. Staff was attentive, and our cocktails were quite nice. Service was prompt, but we were not in any way rushed. HIGHLIGHTS: the Lobster bisque was amazing, as well as the blackberry keylime pie, and strawberry banana Nutella crepe desserts. THE CONS: Nothing that would be a mis-step, and we enjoyed our meal very much. The cheese appetizer fondue course was great. Our main course had filet, chicken, meatballs and lobster with a vegetable simmer broth. The portions were good sized and we did not leave hungry, - and this is not a dis - but I wouldn't call this a high- end fondue experience. BOTTOM LINE: Yes I would go again. The overall experience was a list of fun and the vibes were all good. I'l
