We were walking walking around in downtown Livermore and found Verace on Yelp. Located on S K Street at 1st Street, it's right in the middle of downtown. When you walk in the first thing you'll notice is how open, bright, and clean this cafe is along with a friendly "ciao, welcome" from the owner. There were so many delicious gelato flavors to choose from but I ultimately went with the Amarena cherry flavor. It was so good and had the same sticky consistency of gelato I had in Italy. Turns out the owner is from Napoli, Italia! Many of the ingredients are from Italy. Their biscotti and lemon flavored were also great. I'll get those next time. Came here yesterday with a couple of friends. There were a good selection of flavors to choose from. The staff member was helpful and nice and let us sampled some flavors before we decided on one. The hazelnut was delicious, but we ended up getting a scoop of the almond. The almond flavor was very present, which we liked. There were also little almond bits. The texture of the gelato itself was creamy and smooth. It did melt really quickly though. Even when we were first handed the cup, it was already melting. A gelato place! Yes! I stumbled upon this place while looking for something sweet after a big lunch. We were welcomed warmly and introduced the menu. I got the pistachio and my bf got the nutella. I was hoping they had spumoni but they didn't so pistachio was the next best thing for me. The gelato was creamy and sweet. Verace is a lovely place downtown, bright and welcoming. The Wife and I stopped by, and I was impressed with everything else you could get here besides gelato. We both had a combination of two gelatos. Mine was an almond based, and a hazelnut based combination. We both got the medium size, and regretted it, because it was generous and more than we needed. The service consisted of a polite young man, who was unable to pour any wine because he was underage. We didn't really want any, I just found it interesting that they offer it. We got our gelatos (generous amount of scoops) and settled in at a table. Their signature flavor "Verace" was one of our favorites as well as the orange almond and the always good Straciatella. This is one of the best gelato we have had outside of Italy. You can tell by the color and taste of their pistachio flavor. My boyfriend and I found on this place on Yelp after I had wanted a craving for mulled wine & ice cream in December. The store front was so cute inside and there was a video on the screen touring through the streets of Italy so we thought we would get some gelato just to try it out and then head out. The owner was super nice and let us try a few samples so I ended up getting coffee while my boyfriend got chocolate hazelnut. I've never had proper gelato before and this place completely blew my expectations away with the creaminess and consistency that made me forget about ice cream altogether. It was not too sweet either which I hate so perfect for when I want to bring my older parents here in the future. It was so amazing and honestly, one of the best desserts I've had. Then we just stumbled across this place while exploring downtown, and they had one can of tuna belly that I was just raving about lol! Omg! Delicious Gelato! Found this little gem on Yelp and am I glad I did! I had milk chocolate Gelato, and I compare the taste to the difference between eating a See's chocolate truffle instead of a regular milk chocolate piece. This is the real deal with unique (but not concerning) flavors to tantalize, and an incredibly smooth, creamy texture to keep your little eating spatula coming back for more. I was happy to see they can put 2 flavors in a little cup made of the same stuff as a traditional cake cone, dipped in chocolate! I thought I could substitute it for a paper cup, but they then put it inside a paper cup, so nothing gained there. My husband got the medio, and it was bigger than my edible cup, but mine was piled pretty high, so it didn't seem like less. Anyhoo, I got half Carmello (hazelnut with a caramel ribbon) and the Verace with pistachios and cherries and my husband got the very intense chocolate split with the vanilla. We raved about it all the way home. I talked about planning to find an excuse to attend a show or something back in Livermore just as an excuse to go back! Free Street parking was easy at 3 PM on a Sunday afternoon after the farmer's market cleared out. Verace has plenty of seating inside and out and service was quick and courteous. New Gelateria in Livermore downtown - authentic taste of Italy! We got a message on Nextdoor (from the owner) about them having opened this week and drove over from Pleasanton, as we adore gelato and have always struggled with finding the authentic version in America. I crave the hazelnut gelatos that I have tasted all over Italy on family visits - in Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena, Perugia... but nothing here ever came close. There was a long line when we got there around 7:30, but it moved quickly. After a couple of tastings, we selected our gelatos: - Piccolo hazelnut for me. This was authentic and it took me back to some of my favorite gelato experiences in Italy. - Medio salted peanut and ferrero rocher for my better half. The salted peanut was delicious. And probably underrated according to her, as she noticed it was mostly "unscooped" as customers were not really going for it. - Medio almond orange and hazelnut for our teen. She was raving about the almond orange on our drive home: "it had orange peel in it!" - Grande stracciatella, lemon and Ferrero Rocher for our tween. She loved the lemon the most because it had "perfect balance" and told us the Ferrero Rocher tasted just like the chocolate! Service was efficient and friendly (the server told me she was from Napoli), just like in the old country. Bill was a bit over $30 (piccolo is $5.25, medio $7.25 and grande $9.25).
