New Gelateria in Livermore downtown - authentic taste of Italy! We got a message on Nextdoor (from the owner) about them having opened this week and drove over from Pleasanton, as we adore gelato and have always struggled with finding the authentic version in America. I crave the hazelnut gelatos that I have tasted all over Italy on family visits - in Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena, Perugia... but nothing here ever came close. There was a long line when we got there around 7:30, but it moved quickly. After a couple of tastings, we selected our gelatos: - Piccolo hazelnut for me. This was authentic and it took me back to some of my favorite gelato experiences in Italy. - Medio salted peanut and ferrero rocher for my better half. The salted peanut was delicious. And probably underrated according to her, as she noticed it was mostly "unscooped" as customers were not really going for it. - Medio almond orange and hazelnut for our teen. She was raving about the almond orange on our drive home: "it had orange peel in it!" - Grande stracciatella, lemon and Ferrero Rocher for our tween. She loved the lemon the most because it had "perfect balance" and told us the Ferrero Rocher tasted just like the chocolate! Service was efficient and friendly (the server told me she was from Napoli), just like in the old country. Bill was a bit over $30 (piccolo is $5.25, medio $7.25 and grande $9.25). Décor and seating was adequate (they also have outdoor seating) and there was plenty of parking on South K street outside. We can't wait to be back! read more

After a hike in bee-auty-ful Morgan Territory, looking for ice cream to cool down and replenish. But when gelato is on offer, why would you settle for ice cream? And Verace was an upgrade by log units (See? We can use algebra in real life!). This is the real deal with unique (but not concerning) flavors to tantalize, and an incredibly smooth, creamy texture to keep your little eating spatula coming back for more. I was happy to see they can put 2 flavors in a little cup made of the same stuff as a traditional cake cone, dipped in chocolate! I thought I could substitute it for a paper cup, but they then put it inside a paper cup, so nothing gained there. My husband got the medio, and it was bigger than my edible cup, but mine was piled pretty high, so it didn't seem like less. Anyhoo, I got half Carmello (hazelnut with a caramel ribbon) and the Verace with pistachios and cherries and my husband got the very intense chocolate split with the vanilla. We raved about it all the way home. I talked about planning to find an excuse to attend a show or something back in Livermore just as an excuse to go back! Free Street parking was easy at 3 PM on a Sunday afternoon after the farmer's market cleared out. Verace has plenty of seating inside and out and service was quick and courteous. So excited to have a gelato spot in downtown Livermore! I was amped in the days when Verace opened, and finally got to try it out. The shop has a fresh new feel to it and definitely a welcomed vibe in downtown. The staff is great and let us try out a few flavors. We enjoyed a scoop of dark chocolate and chocolate chip each and both were tasty! They offer about 10-12 different flavors for scoops, and also have hand packed pints to take home. The highlight, of course, was the Gelato - it was absolutely delicious. Our company had Verace for an event, first of all, they were 30 min late, without even compensating at the end, some people (God knows how) asked in advance for a meeting gelatos, and they made like boxes if 10s of them in front of us when we were waiting in line, without any apologies or explanation. They didnt have sugar free option as well (which my not be their fault and our company's selection). Will not go there. It's about time downtown Livermore had a good dessert spot! I've been to Verace three times now and I've loved every flavor I've tried. Their nutty flavors are my favorite, especially the pistachio. You also can't go wrong with any of their hazelnut flavors. The gelato is super rich and creamy - it's quite filling! A single scoop is pretty pricey, so I recommend going with a friend and sharing a double scoop. :) The spirit of Italy is alive and well on K Street. We hired Verace to serve gelato at our wedding this past weekend. They were excellent to work with and so accommodating. Preparations like picking out flavors and organizing details was easy and fun. At the event their set up was SO CUTE and I had so many wedding guests tell me it's the best gelato they've ever had. I even had a couple say Verace's gelato is better than any gelato they had in Italy. They even had vegan options. Nice gelato place with creamy and rich gelato. They have some less common favors such as Almond & Orange, Almond & Chocolate, Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Bueno. They have sampling so you could try out the favors before deciding. We ordered two medium cups each with two favors. You need to order a medium to get two favors. We had the Almond & Chocolate and Pistachio in one cup and the Kinder Bueno and Milk Cherry in another cup. All the favors were thick and rich. The Pistachio was especially intense. Lovely, little gelato shop. I had read somewhere online that if the gelato doesn't appear "fluffy" (like extremely over topped) chances are, it's pretty good. Behold. It wasnt fluffy lol I got the Ferrero Roche one and I enjoyed it. They let you sample flavors so that's nice. A small was perfect size for me. Incredible gelato. And they are allergy friendly- very few ingredients in their product and they know what is in it! We almost never get desserts in the US- but this gelato is truly Italian gelato and it is made with Italian ingredients- no nasty carrageenan or food starch in this! And it is SO good. The kids and I just ate a whole pint of Black currant (it's wonderful). And we tried the lemon- very pure. Like eating the essence of a lemon. I also got the ferrero Roche and the pistachio. They are SO good. But everything here is good. I have to have an affogato next time as they are a favorite drink of mine (or dessert- depending on your opinion of the affogato). Everyone is super friendly and helpful and the chef will help you if you have an allergy. Since the shop is on K street, you need to go up to the next street to turn if you are traveling East on 1st street. The shop is clean and bright and their are tables outside to eat your treat. I love Verace! After an afternoon of wine tasting and dinner, my friends and I were craving something sweet while in downtown Livermore. Verace had been on my bookmarked list since the summer so we finally decided to check them out. The shop is so cute with a few tables for you to enjoy your ice cream inside. It was a nice escape on a cold day. Who gets gelato on cold days? Me. Gelato is good all the time. They have a lot of delicious flavors to choose from so it's hard to decide. My family and I came here over the summer. While being a new place you would expect it to be a bit cleaner. We definitely didn't receive the best treatment, while witnessing others receive better treatment. A couple before us reeked of smoke and they were helped for 10-12 minutes while we waited. When it was our turn to try a few flavors others were helped along side us. Just felt strange. The gelato is okay, as is the service. The floors and tables were sticky as well and didn't seem clean. Updating my review but maintaining 4 stars. It still reeks of cleaners inside Verace. In fact, when I came in tonight one employee was cleaning the bottom of dining tables which is odd during business hours. The other employee was methodically wiping down a napkin holder. Neither urgently greeted us and it was a full few minutes before we were served. I am happy they haven't raised their prices. I still feel like I get better portion for my money at the Pleasanton gelato shop. The coffee flavor tasted a bit burned to me and I got a bean at the bottom. read more

Amazing gelato! My daughter and I went to a street fare and came across this shop. It is small and tucked away on a side street. I had to get really close to see it was a gelato shop. Naturally I went inside. This was THE BEST GELATO EVER!!! We both had been to Italy, but this surpassed anything I tasted there. It was not surprising to learn the owners are from Naples.
