    reeces twister
    Alyson E.

oreo and reece's twisters i heard about this place when i was younger and was amazed there still was one up and running so had to check it out. the place was dead inside with only one other lady in front of me. all the workers seemed busy though constantly doing something and taking out trash. i just ordered 2 twisters and they came out quick. unfortunately the base of the twisters are the same and they just added the oreos or reeces throughout. i was so disappointed that i actually went to mcdonald's to get a mcflurry. i do not recommend the twisters here. maybe the food keeps the business alive?

Long time local institution that is family run. Super nice people and oh...the food is always well prepared. Love the menu variety but we all know 99% of the time we go with our favorites! My go to is ham and grilled cheese Texas Toast with fries. Sometimes I get a side of fried shrimp. Yum! Located on a corner not too far from downtown, there is good parking in their lot and a little on one side street. Burgers, grilled cheese, shrimp, hot dogs, fries, and ICE CREAM cones, cups shakes and malts of sooo many flavors.

Menu as of July of 2019.

Never heard of this place till I saw it on Yelp (thank god for Yelp) and decided to try it. The had a good selection of burgers but their frozen treats menu was much more extensive! Since it was my first time, I decided to try their Old-Fashioned Burger (meal portion) and their Vanilla Ice Cream Cone. My bf tried their Orange Crush Freeze. Old-Fashioned Burger: for a fast food burger, it was pretty good. The meat patty was a good size, they put lots of veggies there, and the buns were toasted. Definitely better than McD, but of course I couldn't compare it with Habit or Super Duper. They used their special sauce on the burger, which almost had a color of thousand island but taste wise was less tangy. I liked it. It was $5 and 700 calories. Fries: since their burger meal came with fries, I got to try them too. Their fries were thick cut! I loved chubby fries. They came to us piping hot. So fresh. I loved how the exterior of each fry was super crispy and the inside was soft. Vanilla Ice Cream Cone: yum, I could tell they specialized in frozen treats more than in savory items. I appreciated that the vanilla ice cream wasn't bleached so it had this natural light cream, slightly orange color. It was creamy and delicious. It was $2 and 220 calories. I wanted to try the chocolate dip but I didn't want an extra 200 calories. Maybe next time. Orange Crush Freeze: this drink was basically a blended drink of their vanilla ice cream and orange crush. Delicious, of course. $4 and 200 calories. This fast food had its own parking lot, so it was easy to get parking. The service was wonderful and friendly, and the store was neat and clean. I definitely would go back to try their other stuff.

Chocolate dipped swirl. Absolutely hits the spot!

I haven't had an actual meal here. We come for the ice cream cones and other frozen treats. There are plenty of options, you can customize with add ins and go as crazy or vanilla as you want, and the service is excellent. They offer small, medium, and large cones. There are never long lines or inflated prices. It's family owned and they're always welcoming and friendly. Tip: don't trust the hours posted on Yelp/online. It says that they close at 8:00 on Sunday. I called and they're actually open until 8:30.

Kicking off summer with a little Fosters Freeze!
    Navin K.

My kindergartener won two gift certificates from Fosters Freeze this year - one for acing her school readathon this year, the other for reading a certain number of books during Livermore library's summer reading program. So there we were - me, my kindergartener and my three year-old - the only customers at Fosters Freeze on a hot July afternoon. My daughter proudly showed both her gift certificates to the lady manning the cashiers counter - "I won these for reading. I want one ice cream for me, and one for my baby sister." "These are free?" she said sourly. "You can get the smallest cone of the vanilla or chocolate only." My six-year old: "One each please." Crestfallen, in a small voice. Without another word, let alone a smile or any semblance of warmth, the woman handed my girls the cones. We went to a window table and the kids happily finished them. This could have been such a great experience, and was indeed a missed opportunity for Fosters Freeze. They could so easily have built upon their support of the various reading programs around town - a little kudos to my daughter for her achievements would have won them my loyalty. Instead, I walked away feeling as sour as the expression on the counter lady's face. We won't be back.

My parents and I stopped in here to get some ice cream to go and we had a great experience. Everyone there was following COVID guidelines, which was great, so we definitely felt safe getting food from there. The cashier was really nice and we got our ice cream pretty quickly! It really hit the spot!

My boyfriend would past by this place sometimes when he works and he would always tell me that there is a poster that they had on their window that shows a pink bunned burger. He never stopped by before since he never had the time, but since he was on vacation, we decided to try it out since we were in the area. We ordered what was on the poster, and it turns out that it wasn't a pink bunned burger :/ we figured that it was probably just a faded poster due to the sun (eventhough the rest of the poster didn't look faded; only the hamburger buns which was odd). Anyways, we gor our order, and the burger was pretty good; the tomatoes were juicy and fresh, and the burgee in general wasn't sloppily made; even the fries were hot and crunchy. $5 for a burger, drink, and fries isn't that bad. It was a pretty good lunch in my opinion.

The apple cider mule was better in my opinion! I think the next time I come back, I'll stick to the food, but fantastic experience nonetheless! Also server for the table next to me almost elbowed me in the head several times while attending to his table. Most certainly accidental but still an undue hazard. I got the Friday I'm In Love and it was amazing. Great size, absolutely packed with meat, amazing flavor. This was a 10/10. The garlic spread was delicious, the slaw was seasoned very well, and everything was very fresh and flavorful. Dutch crunch also had great texture. My only possible complaint was that the meat wasn't very evenly distributed as you can see in the pic, but that's a very minor complaint. For dinner, I ordered the smash burger, though it wasn't really a traditional smash burger and felt more like a regular burger with two very thick patties. That said, it was still good. The fries were hot and fresh, and our server was very kind. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos. They needed some salsa on the side though, which we asked about but it wasn't spicy. We also noticed they were promoting their upcoming Easter brunch at the time and we were looking for a spot for Easter too. Making an Easter brunch reservation was easy and smooth. The staff member on the phone was helpful and accommodating when we needed to adjust our headcount. We arrived 30 min before our reservation but they were able to seat us which we appreciated. The brunch itself was decent, but I'm not sure I would return for the value. It was a buffet-style brunch that included coffee, tea, and sodas. The prime rib needed a bit more flavor, we didn't see any au jus which would've helped, although it was nice to have a carving station and a made-to-order omelette bar. Some of the hot items were kept in warming trays but were more lukewarm than hot. They advertised waffles, but I didn't initially see any on the buffet, so we asked. A staff member mentioned they had batter available and kindly made fresh waffles for us in the kitchen. They were brought out beautifully topped with strawberries, cinnamon, and whipped cream. When we requested another order, we asked a different server for the same preparation, but the staff member who originally made them was back at his station, so we received a plain waffle instead. When we asked another server for strawberries, he somewhat abruptly and rudely pointed us to the buffet and said there was fruit available over there outside. We checked, but there were no strawberries at that time, so we didn't pursue it further. Later, when we ordered waffles again, there were still none on the buffet. I happened to speak with the same server again (that pointed to the fruit earlier), and he rudely said there were waffles out and we could get them ourselves, but then I told him that there weren't any as I had just come from there, and he acknowledged the issue. It seemed that items were not being consistently monitored or restocked. Unfortunately, the second round of waffles did not come out the same as the first and were missing the strawberries and whipped cream. However, the omelette station cook noticed and kindly brought us whipped cream when he passed by, which we appreciated. Overall, the ham was quite good. The salad selection felt a bit weak and looked wilted, and the dessert area was sparse with items not consistently refilled. The salmon was also slightly dry and could have benefited from more of the cream sauce. Positives: good dinner burger/fries, kind server, easy reservation process for Easter brunch, omelette station cook was very kind, some standout items (first waffles, ham) Negatives: inconsistent service, lukewarm buffet items, missing restocks, dry salmon, weak salad/dessert spread, and uneven guest handling (waffle/fruit issue + staff confusion)

Bar and inside dining are great, but the outdoor patio is the spot. Lovely in the sun and if it gets chilly they have heaters and blankets (nice touch with the blankets). Back to the food, it's phenomenal. Every dish well thought out with the freshest ingredients possible; elevated and executed to perfection. Pasta is perfectly al dente and has that "chew" everyone tries to get, but rarely pulls off and rarer still, as well as Range Life does it. Last night I went there for the 5th time. I've been there on dates and with big groups. Most of the time it has been amazing. This last meal, however, was flawless, and it inspired me to share today. First off, we did not have reservations on a Saturday night, and they were still able to get us 2 seats at the bar in 45 minutes, which was a relief. I was open to going to other downtown Livermore highlights such as Bourbon Pear or Il Campo, but was hoping on a whim we could get a seat at Range Life (which would typically require a reservation), since my date had not been there before. Once we got our seats, we were met with amazing service. At the moment I am not drinking, so I was wondering what kind of mocktails or non-alcoholic beers they had. Beforehand I was also wondering if they had a non-alcoholic aperitivo, since I know they have a lot of amaros and bitters. To my surprise, they did, so I had a non-alcoholic spritz, which was amazing. From there, we were only looking to get the highlighted entrées -- a black cod and a flat iron steak -- but we were also talked into getting one of their tartare/crudo options. We decided to go with the Amberjack crudo, which was absolutely amazing. It had mustard greens, fig leaf oil, and fresh early-season cherries, each ingredient something you were able to truly appreciate. The fig leaf oil, the fish, and the cherries were stunning, with the mustard greens providing a nice balance. From there we shared both the black cod and the grass fed flat iron steak. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful (despite being grassfed) that came with an amazing herb butter, mashed potatoes, and a porcini mushroom sauce that was absolutely to die for. The black cod was cooked to perfection as well -- tender, flaky, reminiscent of the butterfish I always have in Waikiki at Roy's. Accompanied by Iocopi English peas, bok choy, and turnips with dashi butter. The peas were, for what it's worth, probably the best peas I've ever had, and the vegetables were perfection. Light but amazing. The combination of both entrées was outstanding. Lastly, we had the famous Milk and Honey -- burnt honeycomb, olive oil, and malted milk ice cream. I've had it about 4 times now, and yet it was still surprisingly mind-blowing. I know something is truly amazing when I have to close my eyes and imagine the flavors bursting like a scene from the movie Ratatouille. I had to close my eyes to truly appreciate the crispy, sweet but slightly savory honeycomb, the fresh ice cream, and the olive oil for balance. The meal was absolutely flawless, and with the aperitivo, the Topo Chico, both entrées, and dessert, it came to $150 before tip. Honestly, it's a steal. I spent $300 at LB last weekend for a birthday dinner -- granted, I did get some A5 wagyu, an $80 14-ounce ribeye, a bunch of sides, and a couple of non-alcoholic drinks, which was amazing, but hardly a fair comparison. And if you go to the city or Oakland, you can easily spend $300-$500 on a meal, more if they have a Michelin star or two (or three). But for the quality you get, Range Life is an amazing deal. The fact that you can get this quality in Livermore is both convenient and remarkable.

To make it worse, prices have only gone up due to inflation. We had the rednexican nachos, burnt ends, sliced brisket ends and fried oreos. The nachos and the fried oreos were great as usual, but the entrees, not so much. The temps were off and the taste was not there, it has not been for the past two visits for us. Our server came over and introduced herself and asked if we would like any cocktails and offered us water and gave us some time to pick out what we would like to eat. He was fast, friendly and attentive. The food here is exceptionally good, especially for the prices. I feel like the prices are very good and reasonable, especially in today's time. On top of the fact that everything that we ordered here on both of our visits have been phenomenal and taste and presentation. The atmosphere is nice. The aesthetics are pretty. It does get a little bit loud, but that's understandable as everyone is there to have a good time and a good meal. We had the Salisbury steak, Reyes, beef, short rib, the flank steak, and I personally had the grilled cheese inside of smoked tomato soup. The tomato soup is literally the best tomato soup I've ever had in my life. The grilled cheese is cooked to perfection and together they are just a wow meal. Can't wait to go back to try more dishes.

Staff is lovely; talented, friendly and always ensure their guests have the best experience possible. Food is top-notch. Order the Cajun Fettuccine and add mushrooms, it's one of the best dishes in town. So flavorful, expertly seasoned, chicken remains moist and the pasta soaks up the sauce. Bourbon Pear is in the running for the best restaurant in Livermore and if you wanted to put it in the number one spot you'd be more than justified.
