Grilled Ham and Cheese Texas Toast
    Corey N.

Long time local institution that is family run. Super nice people and oh...the food is always well prepared. Love the menu variety but we all know 99% of the time we go with our favorites! My go to is ham and grilled cheese Texas Toast with fries. Sometimes I get a side of fried shrimp. Yum! Located on a corner not too far from downtown, there is good parking in their lot and a little on one side street. Burgers, grilled cheese, shrimp, hot dogs, fries, and ICE CREAM cones, cups shakes and malts of sooo many flavors.

oreo and reece's twisters i heard about this place when i was younger and was amazed there still was one up and running so had to check it out. the place was dead inside with only one other lady in front of me. all the workers seemed busy though constantly doing something and taking out trash. i just ordered 2 twisters and they came out quick. unfortunately the base of the twisters are the same and they just added the oreos or reeces throughout. i was so disappointed that i actually went to mcdonald's to get a mcflurry. i do not recommend the twisters here. maybe the food keeps the business alive?

Menu as of July of 2019.

Never heard of this place till I saw it on Yelp (thank god for Yelp) and decided to try it. The had a good selection of burgers but their frozen treats menu was much more extensive! Since it was my first time, I decided to try their Old-Fashioned Burger (meal portion) and their Vanilla Ice Cream Cone. My bf tried their Orange Crush Freeze. Old-Fashioned Burger: for a fast food burger, it was pretty good. The meat patty was a good size, they put lots of veggies there, and the buns were toasted. Definitely better than McD, but of course I couldn't compare it with Habit or Super Duper. They used their special sauce on the burger, which almost had a color of thousand island but taste wise was less tangy. I liked it. It was $5 and 700 calories. Fries: since their burger meal came with fries, I got to try them too. Their fries were thick cut! I loved chubby fries. They came to us piping hot. So fresh. I loved how the exterior of each fry was super crispy and the inside was soft. Vanilla Ice Cream Cone: yum, I could tell they specialized in frozen treats more than in savory items. I appreciated that the vanilla ice cream wasn't bleached so it had this natural light cream, slightly orange color. It was creamy and delicious. It was $2 and 220 calories. I wanted to try the chocolate dip but I didn't want an extra 200 calories. Maybe next time. Orange Crush Freeze: this drink was basically a blended drink of their vanilla ice cream and orange crush. Delicious, of course. $4 and 200 calories. This fast food had its own parking lot, so it was easy to get parking. The service was wonderful and friendly, and the store was neat and clean. I definitely would go back to try their other stuff.

Chocolate dipped swirl. Absolutely hits the spot!

I haven't had an actual meal here. We come for the ice cream cones and other frozen treats. There are plenty of options, you can customize with add ins and go as crazy or vanilla as you want, and the service is excellent. They offer small, medium, and large cones. There are never long lines or inflated prices. It's family owned and they're always welcoming and friendly. Tip: don't trust the hours posted on Yelp/online. It says that they close at 8:00 on Sunday. I called and they're actually open until 8:30.

Kicking off summer with a little Fosters Freeze!
    Navin K.

My kindergartener won two gift certificates from Fosters Freeze this year - one for acing her school readathon this year, the other for reading a certain number of books during Livermore library's summer reading program. So there we were - me, my kindergartener and my three year-old - the only customers at Fosters Freeze on a hot July afternoon. My daughter proudly showed both her gift certificates to the lady manning the cashiers counter - "I won these for reading. I want one ice cream for me, and one for my baby sister." "These are free?" she said sourly. "You can get the smallest cone of the vanilla or chocolate only." My six-year old: "One each please." Crestfallen, in a small voice. Without another word, let alone a smile or any semblance of warmth, the woman handed my girls the cones. We went to a window table and the kids happily finished them. This could have been such a great experience, and was indeed a missed opportunity for Fosters Freeze. They could so easily have built upon their support of the various reading programs around town - a little kudos to my daughter for her achievements would have won them my loyalty. Instead, I walked away feeling as sour as the expression on the counter lady's face. We won't be back.

My parents and I stopped in here to get some ice cream to go and we had a great experience. Everyone there was following COVID guidelines, which was great, so we definitely felt safe getting food from there. The cashier was really nice and we got our ice cream pretty quickly! It really hit the spot!

My boyfriend would past by this place sometimes when he works and he would always tell me that there is a poster that they had on their window that shows a pink bunned burger. He never stopped by before since he never had the time, but since he was on vacation, we decided to try it out since we were in the area. We ordered what was on the poster, and it turns out that it wasn't a pink bunned burger :/ we figured that it was probably just a faded poster due to the sun (eventhough the rest of the poster didn't look faded; only the hamburger buns which was odd). Anyways, we gor our order, and the burger was pretty good; the tomatoes were juicy and fresh, and the burgee in general wasn't sloppily made; even the fries were hot and crunchy. $5 for a burger, drink, and fries isn't that bad. It was a pretty good lunch in my opinion.

The tacos are on petite, single shells with a piece of fish, avocado and cabbage slaw on each. I happily ate every bite. A side salad would have enhanced this dish. I wish I had ordered an appetizer, like the deviled eggs or brussels sprouts, as it would have rounded out my lunch well and it would have been more filling. I noticed a steady flow of people coming and going. It was a relaxed atmosphere and we were not rushed out by any means. I hadn't seen my friend in person for at least a year so it was nice to sit and just chat in a calm environment. Located directly across First Street from Sauced. In-house we haven't had much issue, but I don't know what's going on with door dash/delivery orders. Almost every time, there's an issue. My littles absolutely love the mini corn dogs, and even though the listing says "with fries" they've suddenly stopped delivering with fries for the past few months ( and don't allow customer notes.) It's also a 50/50 chance the mini corn dogs will be dark and hard... I have a sensitive stomach with dietary restrictions, so I find great comfort that I can get the seared ahi tuna tacos while my husband enjoys a hamburger... but the last few orders have been so wrong. Once I was missing avocado, next I was missing the sauce, and this time my tuna was completely raw, not seared with hard jasmine rice and very tiny avocado slices. I always put input in to DoorDash, but I don't think it's getting to the restaurant... and it's reached a point where I feel like I have to leave this review and maybe find a new go to for quick family dinners. I enjoy visiting, the staff is always so kind and the kids like the back patio. Perfect vibe for a laid back dinner.. but why are the to-go orders so terrible suddenly? Absolutely heartbreaking.

It didn't really feel like a cohesive bite with the oyster. The melon and cucumber salad had a nice sesame dressing that balanced out the sweet and crunchy bites. I'd skip both of these next time. For our mains we split the radiatori pasta and the steak. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce tasted more like butternut squash instead of sweet corn and tomatoes. It was still good but not quite what we were expecting. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and the mashed potatoes and herb butter were the ideal pairings. For our sweet treat, we split the milk and honey, which was a vanilla ice cream topped with honeycomb. This was SOOO good and maybe the best part of dinner. They were crispy, hot, and really good... then the cinnamon butter entered the chat. I appreciate the creativity, but my brain couldn't decide if I was eating an appetizer or breakfast toast. Good hush puppies though. The crispy Brussels sprouts were fantastic. I've had a similar version with lemon at Station 16, so I found myself wanting to grab a lemon wedge out of habit. That said, they were still delicious and disappeared quickly. My cousin ordered the Salisbury steak and absolutely loved it. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavor. My other cousin had the New York steak and said they nailed the temperature and seasoning. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken, and the flavors were outstanding. My only tiny complaint is the sauce. It was so generous that my mashed potatoes eventually surrendered and became mashed potato soup. I'd still order it again because the flavor was worth it but maybe ask for the sauce on the side. She made great recommendations, checked in with us throughout the meal, and even surprised me by comping my coffee since I'm a new mom and definitely appreciated the extra caffeine! Unfortunately, we didn't catch her name, but her service truly stood out. The manager, Erik, also came by and spent quite a bit of time chatting with us. He was personable, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. His hospitality made the evening even more enjoyable. Overall, the service was amazing, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We had such a great visit that we're already looking forward to coming back and making Zephyrs a more regular spot.

The food was excellent--every dish was flavorful and beautifully prepared. What truly set this restaurant apart was the exceptional service. The husband-and-wife owners were incredibly warm, welcoming, and engaging, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Everyone in our group was impressed, and we all agreed that we'll definitely be back again. The food was excellent, and I would absolutely recommend giving this place a try. The servers were attentive, efficient, and did a great job delivering hot food, clearing tables, and accommodating several vegetarian modifications without issue. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful dining experience ended on a disappointing note due to the manager's behavior. We had a simple question regarding our bill and asked for clarification. The waitress brought over the manager, who immediately assumed we were requesting a discount--which was never the case. With a bill exceeding $100 and an automatic gratuity already included, we were simply seeking an explanation, not asking to save a couple of dollars. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcomed, respected, and valued. While mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, making assumptions about customers and responding in a dismissive manner falls short of that standard. The manager's attitude felt disrespectful and judgmental, turning what had been a very positive experience into a negative one. A restaurant can serve great food, but genuine hospitality is what brings people back. The servers delivered that hospitality throughout our visit; unfortunately, the manager's interaction at the end overshadowed an otherwise excellent meal. We also shared our concerns with the waitress before leaving, as we felt it was important for management to be aware of how this interaction impacted our experience.
