I was today years old when I went to a Nation's with NO FLIES!!! I didn't know it was even possible. But here I am happily writing this review. I popped in to pick up an online pie order. When i saw how clean the restaurant was - I decided to indulge in a patty melt. It was gooey cheesy onion goodness. Service was quick and friendly. Nothing beats a classic cheeseburger and fries here. I like how they stack the fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and onions in the burger. Service is always quick and friendly. Plenty of parking and they open late. A lot of people do take out so there's always ample seating. Make sure you leave room for their pies. Their pies are amazing! So my wife and I wanted a burger and fries/onion rings to go but not so fast food. So we decided Nation's. Positives fantastic fries and onion rings...my cheeseburger was plenty big, fresh and juicy. My wif'e's bacon burger was also tasty. Service was great. We took it to go but Nation's has a good eat in vibe. So why 4 stars? Lack of options. No swiss cheese? Maybe offer a mushroom topping option? We would wait longer for our order for the extra minutes to make, I should note their all day breakfast menu looks awesome and the pies in the case looked fantastic so there are clearly more options there. The food was clearly superior to fast food and the prices now are pretty much the same. So Nation's. It's definitely now on the short list! read more

Growing up in SF, it used to be a treat to go to Nation's in Daly City as a kid to get burgers on the weekend (pre-In and Out). I remember loving the burgers and being excited over all the pie options. Having some nostalgia and craving a burger, we decided to give this location a try. The layout is a bit awkward to wait in line, especially when trying to keep a distance. If there's a few people in line, the line curves to where some booths are but it's difficult to read the menu unless you're next in line to order. They also have a sign that says for phone orders to come up to the front of the line. A lady did that which annoyed people in line since they didn't see the sign. The employee at the register told her to go back to the end of the line which she was fine with but pointed out that they have a sign saying to come to the front so it's confusing. The sign needs to get taken down or staff need to get on the same page because it seems to just be making unnecessary issues. For the burgers, I tried not to have great expectations since food from childhood always seems to taste better in memories than it does in the present. As a child, I remember the burgers seeming gigantic. It made sense that they wouldn't seem as crazy big as an adult but it was still quite filling. I got a cheeseburger with grilled onions and pickles. There was too much mayo though and I was struggling to get to the meat at times. The fries were fine. I prefer crispy style fries but these were on the soft side. The onion rings tasted alright but they weren't really flavorful and had a lot of breading. Overall, it was an okay meal. For burgers in Livermore, I'll stick with John's Char-Burger. read more

Every time we come to town, we get either breakfast or lunch here. On holidays we get a pie. The burgers are all awesome and one of the few places I'd order a veggie burger from. They chicken sandwich is good too. Love love love Nation's fries. They can't be beat. Any of the breakfast menu is great and my personal favorites being either the omelets or a 2 egger. As for pies, ive had them all and think I'll eat them all again. My favorite is either the Blueberry cheesecake or the banana cream pie. They are always friendly and kind. happy pi day! unfortunately Nation's didn't have any special pi day deals but thankfully they did have lots of pie available. during my quick visit I saw at least 4 other people walking out with pies to celebrate 3.14! there are many pie options, including a new blueberry cream pie (but not including their summer special strawberry pie) and I picked 3 slices - lemon meringue, berry, and classic apple. sadly the price per slice (~$6 depending on if you get a traditional or special flavor) is much more expensive than if you get a half pie or whole pie, but I did so anyways to try more flavors. each "slice" is a hefty almost-quarter of a pie so there's plenty to go around. of the three I tried, the berry was the best! overall the crust was not my favorite but the fillings are good and not too sweet service was quick and not unfriendly, the little store was clean, parking's easy in the plaza, and there are even outdoor seating options if you want to enjoy pie and some sun at the same time read more

The last few times I have eaten at this Livermore location, I have gotten really sick. One resulting in a weeks hospital stay I've tried ordering different items but this location gives me the same effects; sulfur burps, watery mouth, diarrhea. I have been feeling like I have to throw up but nothing comes up I grew up eating Nations at the old Fremont location. Since I moved out to Livermore, I figured a burger would be nice. I ended up in the hospital 2 days later. That was the last thing I ate. This happened back in April. Yesterday I was craving breakfast. So I decided to give Nations a try one more time. I ordered a two egg breakfast with bacon. I regret that decision. I have had those nasty burps, watery mouth, upset stomach and diarrhea. Hamburgers are a decent size, staff is usually friendly when waiting on you. Again this is a low key go up and order your food at a counter type business and then they call your name to pick up the food no matter if your eating there or picking up your food. Parking lot is huge but the restaurant is tiny. I swung by while in the area and bought two full sized pies. Also ate breakfast there. It was alright. Had a slice of each pie when I got home and both are good, apple n berry pies. I've never had a bad pie from Nations. Maybe it's the small size of the restaurant but the vibe was not so good. It's the smallest Nations I've been in, made smaller by half the seats being blocked due to Covid. Cashier seemed on the defensive the two times I interacted with her, there was a mix up on my order. I did my best to keep things cool and that seemed to help. Maybe they get lots of rude customers? But that kinda affected the vibe too. All I can say is try your best to be nice when your at a restaurant. We don't know what the workers have been going through. If I order from here again it'll be take out. The other day went here and Christian waited on me took my order made the food and served my food all with a friendly attitude. He was alone. Although I do enjoy the food, today the service was just below average. I walked in, no one in line, and mind you I just ran in to grab a pie. The girl up front was bagging up an order, made eye contact with me multiple times and just continued to ignore me. I continued to stand there staring at her, still zero acknowledgment. Just as I'm ready to leave the line cook tells her I'm standing there, so then she looks at me and smiles and asks if she can help me. I order my pie and step aside for the now line of people behind me to place their order. This girl, her name is Paloma, goes into the back and just stays back there. The poor girl cooking had to turn around and acknowledge everyone and then take her gloves off to ask me if she can take my order, I smiled and told her I was being helped to please help the couple behind me. She takes their order and goes back to cooking and another employee yells for Paloma to come back out front. She comes out and starts boxing my pie while STILL ignoring everyone in there! The line cook turns around again to acknowledge the other people in line and tells them she will be with them in a moment. I'm not one to ever complain because I myself am not an overly bubbly or outgoing person, but I did my fair share of customer service when I was young and call me crazy, but if I'm not acknowledged when I walk into a place of business, I will turn around and walk out! Let me start by saying I love Nation's hamburgers. We stop at this Nations when we visit my parents. This time we stopped for breakfast before we visited. I am allergic to eggs. Very allergic. I ordered hash browns with cheese, tomatoes, onions, green chiles and bacon. She asked if I wanted bread and I said sure sourdough. I got a cheese omelet with all the extras in the eggs. Sigh, ok she didn't understand me. I went to the counter and tried to explain what I wanted and repeated a few times I am allergic to eggs. They said sure let us fix this. Second round, they put tomatoes and onions and chiles on top of my original hash browns that were now cold. No cheese. And then another plate of hash browns with sourdough toast. Should I have taken it up again and tried a third time to get my order right? Maybe but at this point I was just sad. I was hungry, craving coffee (which they had run out and not replaced the carafe) and nothing was going right here. I will come back for hamburgers but I won't come back for breakfast. Just got in barely 3 minutes before closing after not being able to buy a donut down the street at the Donut Wheel because all I had was a $20 and they didn't have change and refuse to take credit cards likely because of less than honest accounting practices - or perhaps the huge credit card fees for small priced purchases... maybe both... Not my normal nation's that I tend to get my food from, but it is on my way home, so I've only been here off and on a few times. On this visit due to a coupon, I decided on trying triple egg breakfast for the first time. And actually it was pretty good and still quite warm when I got home about 15 mins later. The proportion was quite large for its price point and I think it's a pretty decent deal overall when you compared other pot to other prices and places that serve the same or comparable. The scramble eggs were cooked to my instructions scrambled eggs "dried" so they weren't running at all. The toast was a tad soggy only because of the heat from the steam so I can't fault them for that and the Linguiça sure did hit the spot after not having any for a few years. As for the service, the cashier was patient and friendly and the cook was very prompt with cooking my order so no complaints there! read more

About 20 years ago this was a pretty ok place for a quality grease fix of burgers and fries, but today's visit ( came in for the buy one get one free coupon) confirms the Nations of yore is forever gone. The place still has a slightly grubby and dirty look to it. The counter help still looks not happy to be working there. The ole cheeseburger was a soggy and medium rare mess. The fries were soggy and cool and the six onion rings tasted of oil that was past changing time. We wont be back. read more

Nations always has consistently good burgers and breakfast. My only complaint is lately I think they have been using "facon" (turkey bacon) which I don't like. And they have started making the omelets different from before and going with the same unfortunate method of making a egg "burrito" with the ingredients inside that most restaurants are now favoring. Go to Emil Villa's if you want a great old-fashioned style omelet in town. Other than that the food is good, with plentiful portions and the burgers aren't loaded with salt like the fast-food joints. Prices are reasonable and, oh, the pies! One slice is a meal in itself! PS: I have it on good authority that this particular location HATES having to take Door Dash orders so my advice is to go pick it up if you want it to-go. Or live with the consequences. read more
