Nice selection of bagels, gelato, espressos. It has a good and fresh vibe. But on the downside the espresso machine tastes like it doesn't get cleaned daily giving the espressos a slight bitter, burnt taste. We stopped at Java Dream Coffee & Gelato on our way back from a hike. We were so happy to find a local coffee shop and we're excited to stop in and give it a try. The staff was friendly and the menu has a lot to offer including breakfast burritos, lox bagel and pastries. I ordered the Nutty Irishman Latte and the Lox bagel as well as a glass of water for my pup. As we waited for our drinks and food we saw a bunch of people coming in and enjoying the indoor and outdoor seating areas. It looks like a popular spot for both locals and visitors. I also saw a sign to order pop up sushi which made me wish I lived closer- it sounded great! This is definitely a solid spot for a cup of coffee and a quick bite before or after a hike. We have lived in Europe and have lived in the Bay Area for 40 years, but the best expresso we have experienced since leaving the Bay Area was at Java Dream! It was just like European espresso. It had the coveted tight mahogany crema and a smooth soft chocolate taste with a hint of carmel. When an expresso is roasted right and pulled right, one does not need sugar or milk to make it taste balanced. We loved ours black, but I'm sure it would taste great in their other elaborate coffee drinks. Our barista Molly was excellent. We will definitely be back! read more

I can't say enough good things about Java Dream! I live in San Francisco and visit my parents regularly nearby in Lake Wildwood. I think I prefer Java Dream to all my coffee shops at home. They have friendly staff and great service! I come with my toddler and strange requests and they're always helpful and accommodating. Their tea selection is phenomenal (boba!), their drinks are delicious, their menu is creative, their food is delicious. If you want something traditional, they've got you. What a cute coffee shop! Ordered the Unicorn lemonade (amazing, tasty and colorful) and an ice salted caramel mocha (at the suggestion of the barista) which was equally delicious. Sad to say the mocha barely made it to the car thanks to the large sips I was taking! Hubs had salted caramel and pecan and cream gelato and didn't want to share even though there were two spoons. Hi, I really enjoyed eating the gelato here, it tasted delicious. But, I would have to suggest something to be different that made my experience uncomfortable. I understand wanting to be exact on the measurements of proportions, but when the clerk had to scoop, scrape some of the scoop back into the container, weigh, then pick up the scoop again, weigh, then add another, and weigh for each flavor seemed kind of ridiculous. I feel bad in voicing this, the food is great, but I think there could be a better way of delivering the correct "portion" instead of waiting and watching each time it went back on the scale. It made me feel anxious and I've worked at an ice cream parlor before. It can be sensitive for people with ED, and can make the experience feel slightly cheap. read more

I live down the road. I've visited 20 plus times now. Some times I leave disappointed other times it's just ok. I will say I have been in the coffee industry 10 plus years. I know service and quality. This place lacks service. It's mediocre at best. Prices are high. I enjoy their cold brew BUT today I was a bit taken back by the price tag. They only have one size for their iced beverages (huge mistake) that's maybe 16-20oz. I ordered my cold brew with cream and a splash of sweetener..To my surprise it was over $7.00!! Being in the coffee industry I know how much that drink costs to make... I'm talking cents people, a dollar at most. And charging for cream in a Cold brew...are you kidding me? read more

It wouldn't be difficult to turn this place into a consistent 5 star operation. It's well chosen and comfortably furnished, roomy with quality selections of coffee and very tasty food ..when they're not, which is too often, out of basic provisions..(like bacon).. jeesh. That costs more in the loss of credibility than bearing the cost of picking up a slab right next door at Holiday Market. Gelato is a great offering in the substantial heat of summer. I hope it warrants the shelf space during these winters. I'm sure not making a beeline for it this time of year. The soup on the other hand, excellent fare and delicious. As for ambience, without at least some form of music streaming, the funereal silence and somber vibe of some of the staff (not the owners) makes for a pretty somber experience. Too bad really.
