My husband wanted to try Outer Heaven Espresso since we were in the area. When we walked in, it was very small and quaint. The person who finally came to take our order wasn't very nice. We both did not feel very welcome in this business, and the people behind the register seemed very standoffish. We asked if they could make a version of a tuxedo (or black and white). I have never been to a coffee shop that has never heard of a black and white or tuxedo drink. We've been to big chains and mom and pops, and they all knew some version of it. The person making the drinks grudgingly said he could make it but the employee taking the order acted like we were insane. Two medium coffees for $17 is crazy! I thought the drink tasted alright, but my husband said it was way too strong. With that vibe and those prices, we're not going back. read more

My husband arrived as the shop opened this morning and ordered a latte to and two orders of avocado toast with egg. The latte came out and then the food took 20 minutes. The latte was pretty bad. Burnt coffee flavor. One avocado toast had a giant hair. The other order has pieces of an uncooked egg - like they realized they didn't cook the egg long enough so only put on what they thought might looked cooked enough. Great place in Nevada City !! Visited today...july 24th...see receipt. Located on Argall way in Nevada City ( next to Jernigans) is this cool little coffee place with indoor seating. When you walk in it smells so good and the music is cool with a great vibe! I got there right when they opened (730 am) and got a cup of strong coffee. It was strong and tasty! They have a limited menu of food items but i heard the 6 minute egg on toast is screaming! RICO the barista is friendly and knowledgeable and knows his stuff! You can get fresh coffee beans on the spot! There is inside seating so you can relax inside or just take it to go. A must visit when you are in the area!
