Being that this is the First Time of the wife and I visiting this place, let me tell you that it certainly did not disappoint. Today we decided that after seeing the movie Michael, we wanted some food because well, Popcorn and a Drink certainly doesnt cut it when you're hungry. Right as soon as we walked in if you turn to the left you get to see a huge menu and with there being so many things to choose from, we choose Tri-Tip Soft Tacos and Pulled Pork Tacos. The wife came over with some samples of BBQ Sauce to try and I first tested the Sweet Fire Heat BBQ Sauce and the Buckhorns BBQ Sauce and just to say that since I dont really do Spice (Except every so often) the Sweet Fire Heat BBQ Sauce wasnt very spicy and the Buckhorns BBQ Sauce was delicious. However when I walked over to get the California Gold BBQ Sauce and I tested that, WHOA!! It immediately hits you in the back of the throat. After waiting for about 4 or 5 minutes the waitress came over with our food. She presented my wife with her Tri-Tip Tacos and then to me with my Pulled Pork Tacos. As soon as I took a bite out of my Pulled Pork Tacos, you could taste the chewiness of the meat because it was so tender. My wife and I then swapped 1 Taco each and after I took a bite out of her Tri-Tip Taco, it then mirrored the same tenderness and taste of the Pulled Pork. It was soft and when I poured the Buckhorn BBQ Sauce on it, it actually added more flavor to the taste of the Tri-Tip the same of my Pulled Pork. I then tried the Strawberry Dragonfruit Lemonade and while I wasn't a big fan of that I decided to just change to Mango Lemonade which was very good as well. Thank you Buckhorn for such a great experience. Oh yeah, when they brought out the Bavarian Pretzel and the Buckhorns Beer Cheese.. WOW!! The size of the Pretzel caught my eye but it was very good as well. And while we spent a good chunk of change, everything here was very well worth it. Definitely a 5 Star place because the food and the BBQ are most certainly ON POINT! read more

First time visit and I was thoroughly impressed with the food, customer service, and energetic ambiance! Four of us were doing some Palladio window shopping when we came upon the Buckhorn restaurant. We peeked at the menu and decided to give it a try for an early dinner. One in our group had eaten here previously and enjoyed her meal immensely. Ok... let's go! Ambiance: Big, large, almost warehouse-type feel. Love the open kitchen with all the cooking/barbecuing going on. Super nice bar area with a dedicated bartender. Excellent for a couple or single walking in and wanting a more intimate experience. Enormous amount of tables and booths. And as you enter the checkin area there is well laid out and easy to read menu signs. Love the "do your ordering at the get go", pay, and then relax until your food is delivered. Also a handy/easy concept for groups or anyone not liking to figure out and splitting individual food costs. Food: Delicious! And there was 20 minutes left of happy hour when we came in. Who knew!?! Two of our group ordered from the HH menu and two did not. Beer battered onion rings served with ranch, the Buckhorn Burger and three Char Roasted Tri Tip Sliders all from the HH menu. (Check out those great prices from my HH menu photo.) I ordered the Cabo Chop Salad and added grilled chicken. And a side of lightly salted fries... just because! As requested, the onion rings and fries were delivered to our booth first. Both were piping hot and delicious. They hit the spot. And disappeared fast. Yum! After devouring all of that, everything else came out looking and tasting f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c! Not one complaint. My salad was wonderful and I would definitely order it again in a heart beat. Bar: Great selection of anything you may want. Wine, beer, and cocktails. Impressive HH prices were sweet too. Sean, the bartender, was super welcoming. I chose a Sauvignon Blanc and Sean brought it to my booth in minutes. I could see enjoying a future HH at the bar! Customer Service: Top notch! We interacted with a young woman when we entered and ordered. She was AWESOME. Friendly, professional, quick to answer all our questions as first-time diners and knowledgeable about the many menu items. Stopped in one afternoon after spending the day shopping in the area. This BBQ spot is located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking (including a garage), which makes stopping by pretty convenient. The setup is casual--you order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. When we visited it was midday and fairly quiet with just a few other diners. My daughter and I decided to share the Piggie Platter, which comes with ribs, pulled pork, and sausage along with two sides. We chose the broccoli salad and onion rings, and the platter also included jalapeño cheddar cornbread. One thing I appreciated right away was their self-serve BBQ sauce bar with several options so you can mix and match flavors. The sausage was the standout for me--it had a really nice bite and great flavor. The ribs and pulled pork were both tender and even better paired with the spicy BBQ sauce. The broccoli salad was actually a pleasant surprise; I ordered it on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. The onion rings were tasty but unfortunately not very hot when they arrived, and the cornbread also would have been better if served warm. Overall, it was a solid BBQ meal in a relaxed setting. What a great place to go to to have a hearty meal! I love that it's super casual and that you can order before you get seated. Given that this restaurant is very meat focused the trip sandwich wasn't that great, it tasted like something you could easily find at dennys... that happens sometimes when you go somewhere right before closing I suppose. Staff was friendly. You order at the counter, someone brings your food but there aren't wait staff so if you need something after your food delivery you will need to get up and ask. We used to come here all the time--especially before or after catching a movie. Unfortunately, the service has really gone downhill lately. To be fair, the manager has always been great about correcting mistakes with our orders, which we truly appreciate. But the front counter service has been disappointing. We came in at noon, and the restaurant was nearly empty. Yet the cashier was busy cutting flyers and completely ignored us. No smile, no greeting, no sense of hospitality. When I placed our order, she looked visibly annoyed the entire time--it felt like we were an inconvenience. My only complaint about this restaurant is that they seem to frequently run out of forks! Have been here 5 times in the last 3 months, and 4 of those 5 they had run out of forks and gave us plastic forks to eat our tri-tip with. Come on people, buy more forks!! Service was great. I've been to this location several times and love it here big dinning area and wonderful service. When you walk in you have two choices, you can order at the counter for food, or order at the bar for food and drinks. Every time I go to the bar area to order food and drinks the service is amazing. Especially Kennedy, she has good customer service skills and make a great old fashion! I typically order the burgers here which I believe tie with Samuel Horse Tavern in Old Folsom for best burgers. Customer service is terrible. My entire table received their food except me and I got to watch my server talk with friend for 10-15 minutes before realizing my food was still sitting by the kitchen. No appology and then she had the nerve to argue that it wasn't left by the kitchen. She sent out her manager who continued to argue and dismiss me, siding with the server. Finally my daughter went inside to get me silverware, and overheard the servers making fun of the situation. When she reported that to the manager, he again dismissed the information saying "I'm not in there, I don't know what they are saying." The manager offered no apology and just said "What do you want me to do?" This place use to be good but has gone way down hill. Service is terrible, food is mediocre, manager doesn't know how to manage or proper customer service. Will never be going back here again. read more

I'm very surprised at Buckhorn's 3.4 average rating because this place is amazing! I go here almost once a week because the food is so good. While other restaurants in the Palladio have changed their ingredients to lower quality in order to save money, Buckhorn has just gotten better. Tonight I went in for my usual Tri Tip Tacos and I asked the cash tender, Sean, if he could make sure there was enough steak in the tacos because last time I went in, the steak was a little less than generous. Not only did Sean personally tell the kitchen to make sure they put extra steak in the tacos but before he bagged up my to-go order he brought it over to me to ask if it looked okay. One of my friends and I go to Buckhorn for lunch 3 or 4 times a year although I've never done a review for it before. I almost always have the 6oz Tri Tip Buck sandwich with Mac N Cheese and a drink. It's done with caramelized onions and au jus. My friend ordered the same, although only in the 4oz size with a side of Cole slaw. When the order arrived, it was very obvious that my 6oz sandwich was on his tray. That's not the first time it's happened so I was watching out for it. Last time it happened, I did end up paying for the bigger sandwich but eating the smaller of the two. The meat was tender and very flavorful. I usually pick one of their sauces to sprinkle over the top just for fun. Their Mac N Cheese is good, but not my favorite in town. The service is fast and courteous. The restaurant itself was busy today, but my buddy and I were able to talk in a normal tone which I always appreciate. We'll be back Buckhorn! read more

My husband and I dined here this evening. We were the second couple in line when a man and a woman entered a couple of minutes after us, the woman entered the Online Order section and appeared to read the menu, and then and attempted to cut in front of me when the cashier called us next. The cashier almost acknowledged her before I walked ahead and it made me feel weird. We placed our orders: a krispy chicken avo salad and a bacon & cheese burger with mac & cheese. One thing I'd like to note was we were asked "do you want that pink?" It took us a second to realize the server asked about how my husband liked his burger cooked. I think a more direct question would be just that, "how would you like your burger cooked?" We waited at our table. I noticed the woman who tried to cut the line was served first (her family of 4). What gives? That observation did not sit well with me and made our experience here sub par. My salad was also gross, it tasted like the wrong salad dressing (like a jalapeño flavor?) and it was also overpowered by the huge chunks of blue cheese. It was way too creamy for my liking. We recently took a road trip, and on the way back, we were all starving. Our usual stop wasn't great last time, so we checked Yelp for something different and found Buckhorn Grill in Rocklin. After studying the menu, we all ended up ordering the same sandwich--the Roadhouse Buck with tri-tip, fried onion strings, blue cheese crumbles, and their Red Ranch sauce, all on a toasted roll. I ordered sweet potato fries, my hubby got onion rings, and our son chose fried pickle spears--he won that round! Everything came with a side of their Red Ranch sauce... yum! Our food arrived quickly, which was a relief because we were so hungry. It was hot and looked fantastic. The Pleasanton location shut down a few years ago and it was my favorite place to go to. Ordered Cabo Chopped salad with tri tip and BF ordered salmon platter and I splurged calorie wise with garlic fries. Everything was delicious, salad was fresh ,he was happy with his entree and the fries were hot and crispy. The girl who took our order was very nice along with the server who brought our food. You order and when you pay you're asked to leave a tip. This trend needs to stop. Tips are earned and no one here earns a tip. Over $50 for two people to eat. 4 small slices of tri tip (good) and 9 pieces of roasted veggies that were $2 extra, a semi warm corn muffin and onion rings that are ok. All the sauce is served in plastic, the honey reminds me of what you get at KFC. After your food is delivered you might see someone, but not always. Go get your own to go box. I ordered an old fashioned and a tri tip sandwich and a side of fries. My wife got the chicken salad. The sandwich was good. The meat is super tender and the chipotle sauce was delicious. The bread had a nice texture. The old fashioned was outstanding. I highly recommend ordering it. The price was decent and I almost got a second one. The fries were just ok. Have gotten the chicken, ribs, tri-tip, mac and cheese, mash, cornbread, and salad each time...sometimes doubling up on meats or macs. It was pretty busy for a Saturday evening but Sonia C. and I were able to get a table for two near the kitchen after placing the order up front. Not so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. I don't recall the feast coming with garden salads before but nothing wrong with that. I used to favor the broccoli slaw when the need for veggies hit. On this last trip we doubled up on the tri-tip just because. Garlic mash and the mac were all good. Great portion and doneness. It's a last stop shop, they never come back, they don't have you in mind as a customer. It feels like a take out shop with seats, been going since they opened in Folsom. but they have lots of small changes needed for improvements after all these years as their still behind most bbq & grill restaurants. No spot to get au jus sauce, you have to get up and ask for napkins. To have to get up and ask for water cups, unless you remember to ask when ordering, they don't keep certain condiments out like normal Ranch or jalapeños, they should keep small plates out to share when you have kids and want to split a plate. Someone reading this would say all these things you need just "ask" but they forgot the workers are limited to 2 on most days. (Front reps) not the entire place, cashier and server btw are the only real faces you see, keep in mind they are making orders and take out bags all day long and a average family of 5 needs 4-6 different items while eating, it sounds ridiculous but at home you have all the extras you need, and here, I notice having to get up atleast 3-5 times per dining experience. But when you go anywhere else to eat you never have to get up that many times. You friends an family would be like what are you doing, but at buckhorn. Buckhorn is a fast casual bbq restaurant where you order at the counter and then the food is brought to your table. It was very spacious when we walked in - tons of tables inside and outside. The outdoor tables are also in the shade in the afternoon so it was perfect weather for dinner al fresco. I ordered a pulled pork entree. It comes with two sides and cornbread or roll, so I chose cornbread, fries, and macaroni and cheese. Everything tasted okay, although the pulled pork would've been pretty dry without the sauces. I do love their sauce selection and enjoyed the spicy ones and the horseradish. It wasn't a terrible meal and I'd eat it again, but I just wouldn't pay $19 for the portion I got. I wish they had some kind of collard greens or creamed spinach as a side option. Love the location and the ambiance but probably wouldn't rush to come back. read more

Ehhh, wish this place could be better. I tried it once before and wasn't impressed. Brought the whole fam out to give it a second shot, and none of us cared for our meal. Something to note is that I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on both occasions and had the same issue, something in it tastes plastic-like. I don't know if it's something that maybe the bacon or burger is cooked on, or the way something is stored, but it's a truly noticeable and unpleasant flavor. I haven't compared this to other Buckhorns, but being that it happened both times, I just decided I'm not returning. It's a pricey meal for 4 to get burgers, fries, and only two drinks (nearly $80 total). Not worth the odd flavoring. read more
