Great pub bar/restaurant in downtown Folsom that has Trivia I think on Tuesday nights! Came here on a Saturday to celebrate a friends birthday in their outside patio and it's great for all ages and families. They have Pliny the Elder! And some really good eats, I got the special corn beef sandwich with their tots as a Side that are popular. They have tons of brews on top and good options to choose from burgers, salads, and sandwiches. There's street parking and some parking lots and a garage nearby. Service is great and quick! They're very Knowledgeable and they deliver your food and you can order take out.

Sam Hornes is one of my favorite places to stop into on Sutter St. Dark moody tavern lighting (my favorite!) with cozy speakeasy vibes. I normally just order drinks - they have a great selection of beer and cocktails. I recently tried the hangover tots to share with the table and they were excellent. Great portion and perfect for 2-4 people to share as an appetizer. No skimping on the topping ingredients either! Lots of gravy, cheese, and sausage. Yes please! I also noted that there were a good selection of tasty sounding NA cocktails as well.

The bar was old fashioned with a great variety of liquor. The interior of restaurant/bar was a bit dark so we opted to sit outdoors which was quite nice. I was pleased to see a couple vegetarian options on the menu and ordered the veggie burger. The patty was made with brown rice which I thought was good. The tots were the star of the show - perfectly crisp with a soft inside. My friends thought their beef dip sandwich was just ok. Our sodas were flat- however once we mention that they brought us new sodas, and they were a little bit better The service was good.

Great spot for a casual night out. Briefly stopped by Samuel Horne's Tavern on a Thursday night to grab a drink. The tavern is small, with a cozy vibe, but it was not too crowded. We got the Two Rivers cider and the Russian River Pilsner. All of us liked our drinks and they were reasonably priced. The cashier was friendly. This is a no frills tavern, you get what you came for. I would come back to try one of vegetarian burgers or the grilled cheese as those sounded good!

Nutcase burger with added onion straws

I've been living in Folsom for about 3.5 years and I will openly admit this is my favorite place to get a burger. And their tater tots are delicious. Their fries could use salt but I never really order them. My sister got the nutcase burger with substituted onion straws and they were a great add. Sometimes this spot is super stuffy and it can be uncomfortable when sitting inside. There's limited seating so be prepared to share the skinny table top in the middle.

A delicious burger

I am basing this on overall experience. This exudes the very definition of a hole-in-the-wall type establishment: not cramped, but "cozy." Behind the cashier is a beautiful wall of alcohol, but I focused on the innumerable amount of bourbons to choose from, that it took me a moment to choose. The gentleman who helped me was very sociable, not obnoxiously so, but genuinely, and he would drop a quick conversation when he dropped off food at other tables (to each table), and the woman (yes, in our brief lunch, we did not learn the staff names) was also quite friendly. I am going through some deep stuff, so I had a bourbon on the rocks (double) with lunch. Sue me, whatever....it hit the spot. I got the burger that has pepper jack cheese, bacon, and peanut butter on it. Messy as heck, but worth it. The patty itself tasted well made, was not dry, and too many burger places do NOT have peanut butter on their burger as an option, unfortunately. The fries were kind of non-descript, but they have ways to upgrade them. Quite satisfied with my meal (though I didn't eat but half of it.....when one is going through "stuff" (polite word), one's appetite comes and goes. I would say on its own, food is about three satisfying stars. With drinks, ambiance, and customer service, the overall experience was a solid four. I don't go to Folsom too often, and probably might not suggest this per se, but if someone wanted to go, I know I would have a good meal (and experience)

The JT Deluxe was one of the most delicious burgers I've ever ordered in my life! Huge fan of this lil joint!

Samuel Hornes Tavern specialize in drinks and delicious food. Bar/restaurant is definitely on the smaller side but they have plenty of room outside lots of seating everywhere. Staff are extremely polite, professional. All the food that we ordered was delicious definitely made with love , this is a must visit place.

Very surprised this place does not disappoint! The steakhouse dip was tender flavorful blue cheese and AUJUS dip was DIVINE! Amazing! My buddy got the johnny cash burger with tots ! It was also perfect! Generous portion of fries & tots! The pliny the elder on tap russian river brewing was crisp and perfection! Small and cozy it was packed and great service! Dont miss this one! Definitely on the list

Tucked into old folsom on Sutter Street is this treasure. They have beer and other cocktails. They also have food. I highly recommend their tots. Wow, they're super crispy with every bite. The food was hot and came out on cute plates. Our service was great. The Tavern has amazing service and good vibes. Recommend.

Food deals include half off all appetizers ("smaller") and tavern pizzas (flabreads). Specialty cocktails, wine, and beer are discounted a couple dollars and well drinks are nicely priced at $6. We came around 4:30pm and there was a lot of seating available. The hostess was welcoming and our server Evelyn was great. She had a chill and pleasant attitude and was very efficient with our requests. Kitchen was quick to bring out my poke nachos, and our combo pizza and chicken wings came within 10 minutes. My husband had to send his lemonade back because it was carbonated, but they fixed it right away and it was perfect. The poke nachos was stacked high with crispy wonton chips and diced raw tuna with a spicy aioli sauce throughout. The buffalo chicken wings were sauced just right and still a little crispy. I heard the server tell another patron they can do bbq sauce or naked if you do not want buffalo sauce. The flatbread pizza wasn't as crispy on the bottom as I'd like (probably because of all the toppings) but the edges of the crust were good with a nice chew/crispy ratio. Overall, food was delicious, and at half off, definitely worth it, Since there were only a few patrons in the restaurant at the time, it was fairly quiet, but I've been when it's packed, loud, and lively. Iron Horse Tavern is always a good choice for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and especially for Happy Hour!

The slider was a bit too spicy (it's not THAT spicy) for my wife which meant more for me. The fries were done just the way I like them. The fries come with ketchup as well as cucumber wasabi ranch, which was just a little spicy. My wife stuck with the ketchup. We then decided to split an order of Korean barbecue beef. The meat was thinly sliced and deliciously marinated. The rice and the cucumber salad were very good and the stir fry vegetables were cooked perfectly with just the littlest bit of crunch left in them. Everything was delicious. Our server made sure that our drinks never got below half and our bill was promptly brought out as soon as the take-home box was delivered. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff was really hustling and we were in and out in an hour without feeling rushed. It is a brew house vibe and there were TVs tuned to hockey, NBA basketball and NFL Football. The crowd checked off every demographic. I loved that they were almost completely full, yet it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation. It's no wonder two different sets of friends said this is their go-to restaurant in Folsom.

Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find what looked and felt like a local upscale pub with a large bar with TVs and various tables scattered around. The menu offers something for everyone, and the portions are generous. I opted to start with the garlic bread with a dipping sauce, followed by the Southwestern chicken salad entree special. The bread crust had garlic baked onto it, and the dipping sauce was huge and flavorful. The Southwestern salad exceeded my expectations. It was huge! The chicken was grilled and blackened and cooked to perfection and served on a bed of fresh lettuce with black beans, chopped onions, and blue cheese with a spicy dressing that was fantastic. The dish was so good that I'm tempted to go back tomorrow night. If you're looking for a casual dining spot with a friendly local vibe and amazing food, Manderes fits the bill! I appreciated the fact they had a couple of NA beer options along with a nice selection of beer on tap. Highly recommend!

I was torn between two drinks, and the bartender was super sweet, she let me sample both and even offered a third based on what I told her I liked. I wish I remembered what it was called, but her recommendation was on point: super fresh, great flavor, and exactly what I didn't know I needed. The food looked solid from what I saw others eating, so I definitely want to come back and actually try it next time. The back patio was also a whole vibe! Lots of seating, games, and great energy. It was freezing the night we were there, but the big fire pits made it totally bearable. I can only imagine how fun this place is in the summertime. Hanging out here with friends on a warm night? Definitely on my list.

Big wins there. However, I'm going to throw out a complaint that throws off the vibe and why I only tip 10%. This switch to funneled counter service creates a disconnected experience where the servers and bartenders don't seem to matter. You stand in a long line that takes forever to get through. Beers aren't even listed on the overhead monitors. You feel rushed to put in your order because you're aware of everyone who is waiting behind you. Get your food, put your buzzer on a table. Someone shows up with it. When you need a drink, you have to get up and navigate a line, again. Again, I'm tipping 10% for that at most. This is counter service. If I have to get up, stand in line and get my own drinks? Not a premium experience. But the prices here? It feels really disconnected. You're charging $10 for a beer? I have to get up and stand in line to get one... It all just looks like and feels like someone who designed this workflow hasn't been in the service industry. Too many awkward disconnection points and a lack of continuity. Imagine you went to a bar with 5,000 sqft and everyone was funneled into a line with two registers. There are 30+ taps. They're charging a premium for food and beverage. It's a great space. Food is good. Staff is fine. But the vibe is just off. The story arc when you walk in to when you leave feels weird. Like a top-down edict from management trying to force patrons into an unnatural workflow trying to improve one part of the business while compromising 7 others, losing whatever soul in the process. And the tap selection is lazy. I'll update my review if the vibe changes. It's just painful to see such a great space so awkwardly used. It even mostly works until the execution falls flat. I mean, imagine having a drink and knowing you're going to have to wait 20 minutes in a line to get another one on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It's... weird. It's 2-stars weird. Someone thought this was a good idea?

This is where I'd normally drop her name and give her kudos - but I didn't get her name. I thought her name would be on the receipt, but it wasn't! I assume her name isn't "Shift Night N" anyway, which would be weird - but that's what is listed for "server". Anyway... the burger... I liked it. I liked it a lot. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked (not expected or demanded by me) - but an observation that I toss in for comparison purposes. It was cooked to a solid medium, which is fine with me. Caramelized onions were standard - nice - but the tomato and lettuce were listed as 'optional' - and the bartender (Shift Night N) asked me if I wanted them. I opted in. The bun was above average - definitely a notch above the typical mass-produced buns often used elsewhere. I opted for sweet potato fries. They had good flavor. Personal preference-wise... I would have liked them to be cooked a smidge more. If/when I come back, I'll probably ask them to be crispy-er. Overall, thumbs up! I wouldn't hesitate to come back and try other things on the menu. #burgers

Said that she came back from going to Corner Tavern & Grill and that the food was really good and that we should check it out. Being that we wanted to check out the Hype, we made our way down to the Restaurant today since it was only 3 miles away from where we lived. After walking into the Restaurant we were greeted by a Host and our Waitress asking if we wanted to just find a place to sit down. After finding a spot and sitting down we got comfortable and started looking over the menu. Our Waitress came over and started asking us about if we knew what we wanted to drink and my wife ordered a Mr Pibb and I ordered a Barq's Root Beer. After a few more minutes later the Waitress came back and asked us if we knew what we wanted to eat. I gladly mentioned that we would like the Bavarian Pretzel with the Beer Cheese and the Spicy Mustard. The waitress then mentioned she would bring over regular Mustard in case neither dipping sauce worked for us. A little while later our Bavarian Pretzel Sticks showed up and let me tell you they were hot, and very fresh. After dipping 1 Pretzel stick into the Beer Cheese, I had noticed that it had little pieces of Jalapenos in it and let me tell you that was very delicious with just a kick of heat. The Spicy Mustard on the other hand is like your normal Dijon Mustard type with a lathering of Horseradish and when you dip your Pretzel Stick into that, WHEW.. you're going to get a kick of spice and it may even help you open your sinuses. Probably about 5 minutes later our Waitress then came back and had asked how the Pretzel Sticks were and to our response was "Very delicious" and then we put in our order for a Salad to split and the Prime Rip Stromboli. The salad came out and let me tell you that the Gorgonzola Salad Dressing was so good on top of our Salad and when the Steak Stromboli came out it was hot, fresh and the Dipping Sauce was a Marinara sauce. From the beginning of our Experience to the food, to the friendliness of the Staff, and not just our Waitress because there was a food runner who ran out the food who was just as friendly, which is the main reason why I am giving this place 5 Stars. There was a whole bunch of other items on the menu that we wanted to try but that will be for another time. And oh by the way the Prime Rib Stromboli is Huge! If you have a Salad, the Bavarian Pretzels and then that, you will most certainly be full and you will walk away from that place very satisifed. So grateful that our Neighbor mentioned this place, can't wait to come back and try other food items.

The spicy crab (or lobster, I can't remember) bisque, was also really good. I'd recommend it. Mildly spicy, not crazy. My coworker got the caesar salad, and was very underwhelmed with it. We were seated in the patio in the shade, so it wasn't too insufferably hot on this very sunny, warm day. Jägerschnitzel is my go-to at German restaurants and the one at Kathrin's is one of the best I've had to date. My plate was generous and the jägerschnitzel was tender, the spätzle was too, and the mushroom gravy that topped the jägerschnitzel was just so good. I cleaned my plate. I also got one of their small pretzels to start the meal and loved how soft and chewy it was, and the mustard had a good punch of spice. I thought it was cool that their pretzels are sourced from a local Bavarian factory. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the dressing on the green salad that comes with the jägerschnitzel. I'm really not sure what it was and can't say I've had anything else that tastes like it before, but it was strong and I was good after just a few bites. However, that wasn't enough to ruin the meal for me with as good as that jägerschnitzel was. While I was only here because I was visiting family who live in the area and recommended this place, I'd be happy to return if my family wanted to come back on a future visit.

Schnitzel was dry and flavorless. It seemed as if they had heated everything up in a microwave. Overly hot and very dry. Happy hour started at 3PM and we arrived at 2:45. That would have given us a discount on food and beer. But we figured oh well, our bad for not realizing. We commented on it to the bartender / server, like "oh darn" and he didn't really react. It was not like we expected to get the happy hour prices, we were just commenting. Then, unfortunately, we overheard him talking to two men at the bar, saying "I waited until 3PM to ring up your beers because I wanted to give you happy hour price." Yikes! Why not us? (Only us and these two gents inside at the time. There was a handful of people at outside tables.) We are disappointed because we had enjoyed them before and they are the closest restaurant to us serving German food. The food and the service that day are not very motivating to return.

However, we were seated at a small table with bar stools that wasn't very comfortable. It was a warm day outside, so the AC was blasting inside and I got cold very fast. Shout out to my husband for walking back to the car to grab my jacket! We started off with drinks. I got the Thirst Trap mocktail, which was sweet and tart and reminded me of Nerds candy. However, I don't think it was worth the $14 price tag. My husband got the Vernon Street Lager, which was a very tasty beer. For an appetizer, we ordered the Pickled Veggie Jar. It had a great variety of brussel sprouts, onions, radishes, and more that were deliciously pickled. Unfortunately, it took over 40 minutes for our entrees to arrive, so we ended up eating half of this just waiting for our food. Carbonnade Flamande: My husband ordered this braised short rib stew served over mashed potatoes. The beef itself was very good, but the portion of meat was very small compared to the mountain of mashed potatoes. It tasted nice, but for $26, we expected a bit more meat. Moules Frites: I got the mussels cooked in broth, served with duck fat fries and crostinis. The mussels were plentiful and the broth was very flavorful. Overall, the food was decent but the fries were the absolute best part of everything we ordered and everything is on the pricey side. The service didn't really stand out either. There was no reassurance or update on why our food was taking so long. Plus, water was never served automatically, and when I finally asked for some, our server only brought one glass even though we were a party of two. This was not worth the $100 we spent on dinner and I don't think I would find myself back here.
