Sam Horne's is the epitome of comfort dining. Dim lights and big vinyl benches? Check. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff? Check. VERY solid pub fare that sticks to your bones and warms your body and cold, wintry heart? Check, check, check. I've only been 3-4 times, and honestly that needs to change. This spot is so consistent and the burgers are outstanding every single time. I was surprised at how quickly the food came out of the kitchen, and the prices are well-aligned with what you get. It's a cool-looking spot on this funny little touristy street, but unlike many kitschy old town eateries (and there are SO many, from Old Town Sac to Placerville and beyond) Sam Horne's absolutely crushes it.

I've been coming to Samuel Horner's Tavern for over a year, and the service and food quality hasn't change. I either order the Johnny Cash Burger with tator tos or the loco moco. You can't go wrong with either. The burger patty is good quality and they have the best tator tots! The drinks are also amazing! The bartenders know how to make all the classics old fashions, margaritas, and the gimlit. Which is one of my favorite drinks here. They're also known for their beers as well having a lot of local breweries on tap. Overall from the service to food, to drinks. I give this place 5 stars, and would say this is a true local gem!

Great pub bar/restaurant in downtown Folsom that has Trivia I think on Tuesday nights! Came here on a Saturday to celebrate a friends birthday in their outside patio and it's great for all ages and families. They have Pliny the Elder! And some really good eats, I got the special corn beef sandwich with their tots as a Side that are popular. They have tons of brews on top and good options to choose from burgers, salads, and sandwiches. There's street parking and some parking lots and a garage nearby. Service is great and quick! They're very Knowledgeable and they deliver your food and you can order take out.

Sam Hornes is one of my favorite places to stop into on Sutter St. Dark moody tavern lighting (my favorite!) with cozy speakeasy vibes. I normally just order drinks - they have a great selection of beer and cocktails. I recently tried the hangover tots to share with the table and they were excellent. Great portion and perfect for 2-4 people to share as an appetizer. No skimping on the topping ingredients either! Lots of gravy, cheese, and sausage. Yes please! I also noted that there were a good selection of tasty sounding NA cocktails as well.

Really good experience at Samuel Horne's in Folsom. Great atmosphere, good service, and I was happy to see they carry South Fork Vodka too. Nice to see a local favorite on the menu. Meg behind the bar was awesome, friendly, attentive, and just made everything easy and enjoyable. Definitely coming back.

The bar was old fashioned with a great variety of liquor. The interior of restaurant/bar was a bit dark so we opted to sit outdoors which was quite nice. I was pleased to see a couple vegetarian options on the menu and ordered the veggie burger. The patty was made with brown rice which I thought was good. The tots were the star of the show - perfectly crisp with a soft inside. My friends thought their beef dip sandwich was just ok. Our sodas were flat- however once we mention that they brought us new sodas, and they were a little bit better The service was good.

Great spot for a casual night out. Briefly stopped by Samuel Horne's Tavern on a Thursday night to grab a drink. The tavern is small, with a cozy vibe, but it was not too crowded. We got the Two Rivers cider and the Russian River Pilsner. All of us liked our drinks and they were reasonably priced. The cashier was friendly. This is a no frills tavern, you get what you came for. I would come back to try one of vegetarian burgers or the grilled cheese as those sounded good!

I've been living in Folsom for about 3.5 years and I will openly admit this is my favorite place to get a burger. And their tater tots are delicious. Their fries could use salt but I never really order them. My sister got the nutcase burger with substituted onion straws and they were a great add. Sometimes this spot is super stuffy and it can be uncomfortable when sitting inside. There's limited seating so be prepared to share the skinny table top in the middle.

    A delicious burger

I am basing this on overall experience. This exudes the very definition of a hole-in-the-wall type establishment: not cramped, but "cozy." Behind the cashier is a beautiful wall of alcohol, but I focused on the innumerable amount of bourbons to choose from, that it took me a moment to choose. The gentleman who helped me was very sociable, not obnoxiously so, but genuinely, and he would drop a quick conversation when he dropped off food at other tables (to each table), and the woman (yes, in our brief lunch, we did not learn the staff names) was also quite friendly. I am going through some deep stuff, so I had a bourbon on the rocks (double) with lunch. Sue me, whatever....it hit the spot. I got the burger that has pepper jack cheese, bacon, and peanut butter on it. Messy as heck, but worth it. The patty itself tasted well made, was not dry, and too many burger places do NOT have peanut butter on their burger as an option, unfortunately. The fries were kind of non-descript, but they have ways to upgrade them. Quite satisfied with my meal (though I didn't eat but half of it.....when one is going through "stuff" (polite word), one's appetite comes and goes. I would say on its own, food is about three satisfying stars. With drinks, ambiance, and customer service, the overall experience was a solid four. I don't go to Folsom too often, and probably might not suggest this per se, but if someone wanted to go, I know I would have a good meal (and experience)

The JT Deluxe was one of the most delicious burgers I've ever ordered in my life! Huge fan of this lil joint!

Samuel Hornes Tavern specialize in drinks and delicious food. Bar/restaurant is definitely on the smaller side but they have plenty of room outside lots of seating everywhere. Staff are extremely polite, professional. All the food that we ordered was delicious definitely made with love , this is a must visit place.

There was plenty of seating on the shady patio, but it was really hot outside, so we opted to wait for a table inside. We had a drink and watched the NBA finals on the TVs (there was no sound so it wasn't noisy). I tried the Mustang Sally cocktail and it was well balanced and delicious! We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. It was the perfect vibe that we were looking for, comfortable, but classy. And the food was high-quality and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Upon entering, the hostess with the brown curly hair was noticeably rude and unwelcoming, which isn't the first impression you'd hope for when celebrating a special occasion. While our server was polite, the service was quite slow throughout the meal, despite the restaurant being fairly empty at the time. Overall, the excellent food helped make up for some of the service issues, but the rude greeting and slow service took away from what should have been a memorable anniversary dinner. I hope management addresses these concerns, as the kitchen is clearly doing a great job.

I explained that I wasn't happy with the drink and simply wanted to order something else. The manager came over and explained that the menu includes a disclaimer stating the cocktails are made with soju instead of the traditional liquor. In my opinion, the waiter should have mentioned that when I ordered, especially since it significantly changes the flavor. I hadn't noticed the disclaimer--I simply ordered what I thought would be a classic Piña Colada. Unfortunately, I was still charged half the price for a drink I didn't enjoy and wasn't allowed to order a replacement. The manager emphasized that it was too expensive for the restaurant to remake drinks, which I found disappointing. I've never had an experience like this at any other restaurant. We were all ready to go and find another restaurant, but the person seating said to wait a minute. A table was just cleared and she was able to seat us. It was a good thing we paused as we got a table in back, next to the birthday party alcove. When we walked to our seats we passed an alcove with couches and chairs and whole bunch of kids jumping and running around with a few adults mingled in. As it turns out it was a birthday party for one of the adults. They sang to him and he blew out the candles on his cake. The restaurant is quite loud, but not too loud that you could still have a conversation which was a surprised as it was so loud. This is not the place to go for a romantic dinner. It's a pub, minus the year round Shepard's pie. They change the menu twice a year and that's only served fall/winter. That was sad because that was what I really wanted to order. Service was really good, the waiter kept coming back and checking on us. We first ordered drinks, then appetizers. We go the baked Brie Board for the table (there was 4 of us). It was a really solid appetizer. We all over the baked Brie and fruits included. I would order it again for a table of 4. My husband ordered the Monk's Burger and found it very tasty. I agree it was good, but a little on the dry side and the fries wern't crispy enough and tasted old. I got the Halibut. I found it tough and hard to cut into, maybe it was over seared a bit. It didn't taste fish at all which was good. The Cherry and Currant chutney was unusually and addd a good flavor to it. I wouldn't order it again. My girlfriend ordered the Moules Frites and said it had a very generous potion and would feed two easily, though she ate it all herself after sharing some with the table. Everyone agreed it was very tasty. The presentation was good too. It came in a large pot. Lastly our other friend ordered the fish and chips and said it was a generous portion. He only ate half of it and took the other half home and he was hungry to begin with. Parking is street parking or there is a free garage a couple of blocks away and over the bridge. You can see the train passing by on the other side of the bridge. Overall it was a good meal. I though my halibut was subpar and the fries that came with the burger had the texture and taste of old fries, they were also just room temperature when they were borough out. Sadly they weren't piping hot from the frier.
