I still love this Mel's. The patio is great for dogs to take their owners to breakfast (or lunch). The busser brought out a nice large bucket of fresh water for my dog. I'm glad my dog was gracious and drank some water while he was there. My server, Joey, she was wonderful. My weekday steak and eggs were perfect. I think the price went up a small amount, total $14 before tip. That's ok. It's a good meal and excellent service. They do tap to pay, "NFC" with Google Pay (fka Android Pay) or Apple Pay. I was feeling nostalgic for Mel's and how it used to be when I tried it as a kid. Nowadays, it didn't taste as fresh as I remembered. Maybe everything just tasted better when we were kids? Although the food was so-so, the service was pleasant and quick! I would come back just for the great service. Pleasantly surprised! We have lived up in this area for almost 15 years now. Driving by Mel's countless times and passing it up to go somewhere else for breakfast. While in the area, we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. We have been here twice now in the last 3 months. Both times, staff is friendly and attentive. It's also clean inside! The food quality is higher quality than most breakfast places. Hashbrowns seem to be fresh rather than bagged. The poached egg on the Benedict was cooked perfectly. We have been coming for the daily breakfast deal which is $11.99 before 11 am which is a steal! We will be back! read more

They decided to just take it upon themselves and bring him the chicken fried steak dinner when he clearly wanted breakfast. This was at 10:30 this morning. Our server maisy needs a bit of customer service help. Not only did she just roll her eyes and shake her head in the process of me explaining that that should have been breakfast and not dinner. She did nothing to change it nor did she ever come back to check on us. So basically we paid for a dinner meal when we were supposed to be having breakfast and she just thought we never wanted anything to drink. Finally a breakfast place in Folsom serving a traditional breakfast without all the useless frills. One restaurant we tried didn't serve toast with a bacon/egg breakfast and another didn't serve potatoes with the same order. Too busy serving Mimosa and Avocado toast. Our family visited here around 10am on Sunday. The restaurant was starting to get crowded but we managed to get a table. We had to wait for awhile for a waitress to put our order but the food came out relatively fast (around 15 mins). - kids meal - burger with fries and oreo: my kid liked it and finished all the burger and fries. I tried a bite of the burger and it tasted good. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. - chorizo skillet: the portion was smaller than I expected. The flavor was on point but I wish they put more chorizos. The hash brown was tasty & crispy. The sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. We had good experience and good food. If I could give zero stars, I would. I've been coming here for years with my husband and kids, but after my most recent visit, I won't be returning. I came in on a Monday morning -- it wasn't very busy, yet the entire experience felt rushed and impersonal. I was greeted by a hostess, I believe her name was Valentina, who came across as quite rude from the start. I also noticed she seemed to change her accent depending on who she was speaking to -- using a southern accent with one elderly couple and what sounded like a mock Hispanic accent when speaking to me. I'm not sure if she knew the couple personally, but the behavior came off as unprofessional and showed a clear sense of favoritism that made me uncomfortable. To make matters worse, my food arrived cold, and my milkshake was already half-melted by the time it reached the table. The service felt rushed, as if they just wanted to get me in and out as quickly as possible. A large group of bicycle riders rode to Mel's. We had called ahead to let them know we would be arriving at a certain time. The staff had our table set with waters and menus ready. The service was wonderful and food good. We stopped in for breakfast and although it was fairly busy on a Saturday morning we were seated promptly. Their menu is extensive from a variety of breakfast items to lunch, dinner and dessert items. My Sonoma sausage was delish and tasted lean and healthy. The poached eggs were perfectly done and hash browns crisp and moist inside. Hubs chili cheese omelette was exactly how it should taste.. sooo good that it had to have been bad for you. It's ok we burned calories prior to coming in to indulge! Great customer service and clean tables! Came in on a busy Sunday am for breakfast! This is my second time at this location. It's your typical old diner style restaurant which is fun. They have the juke boxes to play music. We waited about 20 mins to be seated. The waitress was very friendly and attentive even though she was very busy. Our food was perfect. I have to say that it's had to find a place that really knows how to cook over medium eggs. They nailed it! No slimy white and the yoke was a nice dippy yoke. Exactly the way it is supposed to be cooked! The French toast was fluffy and good. The sausage and bacon was good. Hubby had a skillet that he enjoyed very much. He got the biscuit n gravy on the side which I tried, we both really liked their gravy. We have noticed that Mel's does things a little different and we were very pleased with everything here.
