Best barbecue I've had and the service was amazing! Well worth the price and great experience overall.

The place is suffering from an overall lack of curb appeal. The name isn't great...the restaurant storefront looks simply and plain and when you step in the place seems fine and basic but standard for a bbq spot. The food however is really spectacular. I had the plate with one protein and a side. I chose brisket and Brunswick stew. And both were 10 out of 10 in terms of quality and texture and flavor. Seriously excellent food. This place is far better than it appears and does the one thing that matters most...the food...in fantastic fashion. I'll be back, I'll bring friends and family, and I'll help spread the word! read more

I was finally able to try them out since I was already in the area. I heard they can get busy fast so I was there at 10:30 roughly 30 minutes before opening. There was already someone else first in line waiting which wasn't bad until right before opening when a bunch of their friends showed up and essentially skipped the line that got much longer as time went on. This is nothing against the business but it was annoying since they took longer to order because what started as 1 person in line before me at 10:30 turned into a group of 5 or 6 as the restaurant opened. However, even with that slight annoyance, the food and service were good. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical after seeing some pictures online about the portions that looked smaller but they actually looked bigger in person. I ordered a beef rib as well as the 2-3 person tray and added a sausage to try almost everything since I'm never in that area and wasn't sure if I'd be back anytime soon. Most of the meat was good flavor wise but I'll admit the pork ribs and beef rib were tougher for me to chew compared to other places. There were plenty of leftovers as I only tried a few bites of everything before packing it up and bringing it back to my family. My biggest issue with this place, as well as most other BBQ places in the Sacramento area, is their pricing. One single beef rib was $40 and the tray for 2-3 people was $55. The sausage was $7 so I spent over $100 to try a little bit of everything. Meanwhile, at somewhere else like Bear West BBQ, I could get a 4 meat tray with 2 sides and cornbread for less than $40. Speaking of cornbread, I'm surprised it wasn't included with any of the trays here although I got a piece of blueberry cornbread in substitution for one of their desserts which was nice of them to let me do. Another annoying issue is they're only open for a few hours from late morning to early afternoon Friday through Sunday. I'm sure they make enough money during those limited hours based on the overwhelming hype and support I've seen for them online. But if you aren't there well before they open, expect to wait in a ridiculously long line with the risk of certain items running out. Overall, I'd say I enjoyed the food I had here. However, between the higher prices, long lines and limited hours, I probably won't be in a rush or make a special trip just to come back here. I might just stick with a single item plate next time after being able to try almost everything else today and not needing to do that again in the future. read more

Amazing BBQ with top notch customer service. The owner took time out of his busy day to come over and check on how our visit was. It was super a super genuine interaction and I can't say how much I hope his business succeeds going forward. My dad and I made the 30 minute drive to Belly BBQ. We were looking forward to this meal all day. It did not disappoint! Totally exceeded my expectations. Their menu is straightforward. You've got your meats, sides and a couple desserts. Their 3 day hours of operation schedule allow for them to focus on perfecting their craft, and it's working. Line took about 20 minutes to get to the front. But the food was absolutely worth the wait. The Mac and cheese here was phenomenal. Not just creamy and cheesy but the flavors were deep and rich. The cheesy grits hit the high mark for me. I had only eaten grits once before and wasn't very impressed. The grits at Belly BBQ however changed my whole perspective on the classic southern dish. I'm craving some now and will be ordering the grits with every future visit. The BBQ here is done perfectly. We got the 2-3 person tray which was $55. Came with pork ribs, brisket, smoked turkey and the two sides I mentioned earlier. We also added two spicy sausages. This was a ton of food. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the smoked turkey. It was so bomb. Place is relatively small. Most people got their orders to go. No TV's, tables were very clean. The one bathroom they have was clean as well. We found this place while doing our blood work from Quest next door. When we went, their brisket was sold out so we were bummed that we didn't get to try one of their best popular meat. We end up ordering the tray with pork ribs, beef ribs, turkey, mac and cheese, blueberry cornbread, and a chocolate cookie. Our favorites were the beef ribs and blueberry cornbread. Believe the hype! This is easily some of the best barbecue you can get in the greater Sacramento area. From the crack of the sausage casing to the, perfect amount of tenderness on the ribs to the moistness of the brisket this is barbecue done right. There was a line out the door but things moved quickly. It took us maybe 15 minutes to reach the front of the line and it was only another minute or two before we had our food. I have heard good things about this place for a while and finally had a chance to check it out. They are only open Friday through Sunday from 11 AM to around 2 or 3 PM, but the wait was definitely worth it. We ordered the Tray for 2-3, which comes with 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pork ribs, 1/4 pound of sliced turkey, two sides, and a dessert for $55. The sliced turkey was moist and flavorful. The pork ribs were very good as well, and the brisket was my favorite. For the sides, we ordered the cornbread and mac and cheese. The cornbread was pretty standard, next time I might upgrade to the blueberry cornbread. The mac and cheese was very good, much better than a basic mac and cheese you get at some other places. The tray was very filling and easily fed me, my wife, and my son. They also offer a variety of sauces that you can try. My wife liked their mild sauce, while I preferred the sweet barbecue sauce. Stopped by Belly Barbecue in Folsom around noon on a busy weekend. The place is small and fills up fast--the line was out the door when we arrived--but it moved quickly, and we found a table easily once we had our trays. We ordered the pork ribs, pork belly, and brisket, and all three were excellent. The ribs had great flavor and tender texture, the pork belly was rich and well-smoked, and the brisket was juicy with solid smoke. I finally got to try Belly BBQ. The store is a decent size and staff was super friendly. The owner even came out to greet us and ask us about the food. I got the Serves 2-3 and it definitely made all 3 of us content with the add on of a sausage. The store itself got super busy right when it opened at 11am so I can see it is a crowd favorite. Brisket - I got all fatty and would definitely recommend that route! It was tender Pork belly - held its shape, good smoke, and good flavor Sausage - I got the regular since I don't like spice and it was a bit dry. It had a decent smoke flavor but did not stand out. This has become my son's favorite BBQ place in a 50mile radius. And since he prefers not to eat alone, I love tagging along. The brisket was perfect, the Mac and cheese was good and the cornbread was very good. The line can be long when they first open, but the service line is very efficient and they get through the line quickly. The portion size is just about absolutely perfect. I ordered the tray for one with mac & cheese as my side and ordered an extra piece of cornbread. The key here is to eat and get out since there are usually people waiting for your table. Belly has usurped the crown of top BBQ in Northern CA. I smoke quite a bit of meat myself, and I can tell when a restaurant is doing things the hard (correct) way. Our group got a big platter of every meat, and while everything was delicious, to keep my BBQ reviews consistent, I will focus on just the brisket. They appear to be doing the "Goldees Method", meaning that they rest their briskets in an Alto Sham warmer for a long period of time wrapped in foil with rendered tallow. Both the lean and fatty slices were perfect. Perfect tenderness, no trace of dryness, fat cap was perfectly rendered, and the bark was a delicious balance of meat, salt, pepper and smoke. I usually nit pick restaurants that I would want a bit more black pepper, but I did not get that urge this time. They have very limited hours, but I appreciate the fact that the owner is presumably doing this to ensure quality. I am already thinking of how I can plan a trip to come back with my family, so they qualify for my rare 5 star review! read more

Came with 1/2 pound brisket, 1/4 pound turkey, 1/2 pounds pork ribs and 2 sides which we got Mac and cheese and cornbread and also came with your choice of dessert. Options were a pecan bar or lemon pound cake, which we opted for a lemon pound cake. BBQ was just amazing no need to for sauce, that good. But if you want sauce they got it. Best BBQ spot in the greater Sacramento area possibly norcal and possibly all of California. No one even comes this close to Texas BBQ not even Texas itself. Great brisket smoked to perfection, corn bread soft and moist not dry what so ever, the Brunswick stew mixed with the cornbread is amazing. Other than the amazing food the customer service is overall great, to simply put it "southern hospitality". Me and the family will be coming here as much as we can since we drove an hour to be here and not even the slightest of disappointment. It's all in the brisket! Preferably the fatty brisket! You don't need a knife to cut it. The flavor, the juiciness, and the tenderness are what sets it apart from other BBQ places. We were originally confused with the plate for one. That's mostly my fault because I thought you got a half a pound of everything there. No worries because all I wanted was the brisket anyways. Had an amazing meal to go! The team greeted us on entry and was very cordial throughout the ordering & check out process. Beef Rib and brisket were delicious, but my favorite out of the two was the beef rib. Ordered a 6oz. You don't have to travel to Texas to enjoy fantastic barbecue. Recommended by a coworker, Belly's gave me one of the best barbecue experiences I have had in the Sacramento area. I came with a large group and ordered the 2-3 plate, which comes with three meats, two sides, and a dessert. I chose the brisket, pork ribs, and turkey, with a side of spicy sausage added on. For sides, I went with the mac and cheese and cornbread. The brisket was incredibly tender with a beautiful smoke ring that packed so much flavor. The pork ribs were another highlight, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of bite. The turkey was juicy and lighter in flavor, and I kept thinking it would make an amazing sandwich. The sausage was decent, though it was my least favorite of the bunch. The cornbread was soft and moist, while the mac and cheese stood out with a smoky flavor and perfectly cooked al dente pasta. For dessert, we tried the pecan bar and chess cake. I am usually not big on sweets, but both were excellent. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere had that true southern hospitality feel. The owner even stopped by our table and generously offered more chess cake to one of my friends. Belly's is outstanding barbecue at a very reasonable price. a bit of preface to my review, I had seen Belly in an Instagram post and immediately became a follower sight unseen. They started with an invitation only "soft opening" which I didn't make. Belly was still on my radar,but I kept hearing things like major lines and running out of food. The lines can be a good sign but as this restaurant can be a 40 minutes drive from my house I would have to wait. It took almost a year but my dutiful girlfriend said we could go to Belly Barbecue if I went with her to get her nails done. I happily complied as the restaurant was a stones throw from the nail salon. The menu was very simple an uncomplicated, something I truly enjoy. They had a few choices, there were the staples you could order individually, like Beef or Pork Ribs, Brisket, Pork Belly, sausages and Turkey and the combination platters like the feeds 1 with 1/2lb Pork Ribs OR Turkey OR plus $2 more for 1/2lb brisket feeds (which is what I got) and so forth. I got the brisket and the Mac and Cheese on the side, my girlfriends got the pork belly. The brisket was amazing and so was the Pork Belly which I tried from my girlfriends plate. My Mac and Cheese side was great as well, making me anxious to try all the various meats and sides. Do I dare proclaim (as others have already echoed) a new Barbecue champ in the Sacramento area, I say yes. I think my initial takeaway is that while I normally wouldn't gravitate towards turkey outside of Thanksgiving, the tender love and care this place put into their bird was surprising. I might go so far as to say it was the best thing we ate. We had plate for 2-3 people adding sausage and pork belly. Both of which were really outstanding. For side dishes they were all very good but the beans were a star. This is more of a sold out show that is also a delightful meal, so if you plan to go show up early for parking/ line waiting. Food is excellent, ordered a plate for 2-3 when it was only be and my 8 year old daughter so we could try everything! Turkey was juicy and moist without being overly brined and rubbery. Brisket was phenomenal, it was cooked perfect, I usually trim some of the fat away but the fat was rendered so good that it was delicious included. The pork ribs seasoning was really good, if there was any critique it would be on the way the pork ribs were cut, not a lot of meet and the end had some meat in between all the bone and cartilage. They were cooked perfectly! We had the blueberry corn muffin and it was perfect, I would go back just for this it was a meal in itself. Mom wanted brisket. So I had to do some research into where to get some good brisket and Belly kept coming up. So we made the plan to order for pickup but unfortunately that was offline. Onto the backup plan and we drove up to Folsom from Natomas and got there in time for opening on Sunday. We got the parking lot 5 minutes after they opened and there was already a line to the door. The line moved pretty quickly. We went for 2 of trays that feed 2-3 people, a beef rib and the spicy sausage. For the sides we got corn bread, the beans, the Brunswick stew and the cheesy grits. For dessert we got the pecan pie and banana pudding. The restaurant is not very big but there were plenty of tables if you wanted to eat there. The staff were very helpful and their system is efficient. Now for the food- at first I was a little shell shocked at the price but after having consumed most of everything, it was worth it! We were eating family style so they offered to put everything in one tray for us. I'm always a fan of pork ribs and brisket but the real star for me was the beef rib. It was huge and juicy and meaty! The brisket was great and the pork ribs were tender and tasty, I didn't even need any sauce. As for the sides, my husband wasn't a fan of the grits just because they were alot more coarse than he expected. But truthfully, they have the best BBQ I've ever had in California. The inside of Belly BBQ is clean and well lit and not too hot which can be an issue in some BBQ places. I went with my friend and we got the tray that feeds 2-3 people. If you go with someone with a big appetite, order your own tray because you'll regret not having any leftovers! Now let's talk about the food--everything was flavorful and delicious from the brisket to the greens to the beans. If I had to choose one thing I wasn't raving about, it would be the mac and cheese, I like more of a baked mac and cheese, but that's just my personal preference. WHY WE WENT HERE: - lunch - fiance can't pass up an opportunity for brisket THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located in a plaza off Prairie City Rd and Willard Dr - the logo is very interesting (modern/minimal); if it didn't have BBQ in the name, I wouldn't have thought it was a BBQ spot THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - small but busy! - you fall in line to order and either dine-in or take it to-go - when you're in line you'll see on the wall a traffic light indication of the menu items; it shows what's available, running low, or what they're out of - it's almost cafeteria line-esque; once you're up you tell them what you're ordering; it's a carving station, then sides served up, and ends ultimately with the cashier to pay THE MENU: - protein - sides - dessert - trays WHAT WE ORDERED: - feeds 2-3 tray with mac n cheese and collard greens and chess cake (I wasn't sure if it's a misspelling that's meant to be cheesecake? or if it's really chess cake) - beef rib tray with baked beans and cheesy grits and pecan pie bar * you get 2 complimentary original bbq sauce, 2 complimentary spicy bbq sauce, and a mini tray of sliced dill pickles and pickled onions THE TASTE: - brisket - fiance said it was good, he'd get it again - pork ribs - good - turkey - very moist! especially when dipped in the butter sauce - mac n cheese - good, like the seasoning - collard greens - good - chess cake - if it IS a cheesecake, it's very thin and dense, almost has a brownie top; sweet - beef rib - very tender; parts of it the outer part were a punch of salt though - baked beans - different flavor, some of the beans were hard though - cheesy grits - would NOT recommend; almost gray, not fluffy, very gritty - pecan pie bar - super sweet! loved it though! Came here because of all the amazing yelp reviews and let me tell you this BBQ is the real deal. All the bbq meats we had on our platter were delicious. The chef also came and checked in on us as well as gave us complimentary pork belly sample. The service, the vibe, and food was amazing! We can't wait to return with more friends. read more

Folsom is really lacking in BBQ options but this place delivers. Easily on the level of Lucile's up in Rocklin, just much smaller-scale and homey. We went last year when they opened and got to talk to the owner. He's a true Folsom guy who used to work at Intel but had a change of heart and now does BBQ. Definitely worth supporting!! Just make sure you get there when they open because once they're out of brisket they're out! read more

I mean wow. Just wow! My brother drove 45 minutes to try this place out. It didn't disappoint! We got the tray for 2 people- includes ribs, brisket, turkey 2 sides and a dessert. Meat was tender, so flavorful. I believe he was the owner, he came over to our table and gave us a sample to the bourbon belly. It was sooooo good! I would give it 10 stars if possible. read more

You found it, the best BBQ in Folsom for sure and my favorite in the entire Sac area. We made our own plate to share: brisket, spicy sausage, pork ribs, collard greens, grits, corn bread.. and a pineapple flavored Fanta. Service was great! The owner popped by to check on us, great guy. Smells great inside and there was a tv on to catch the playoffs. Vibrant atmosphere. We loved it. Highly recommend everything we had. Solid bbq. The grits and the chili was a bomb combo. Corn bread both delicious , Mac full of flavor and saucy. Fast service. Line was out the door and probably took us ~20-25 mins from start of wait to the time we paid for our food. Very quick. Paid 59$ for 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 lb of chopped pork, slice original corn bread, slice of blueberry cornbread, 6oz Mac n cheese, 6oz cheesy gritz, 6oz chili w complimentary pickles/pickled onion.
