My husband and I frequent this restaurant at least once a week. I get a pizza and my husband gets a modified pasta dish. We usually sit at the bar and we are welcomed by the friendly staff. Their pot pies are really good also, but be careful they are hot and will burn you. Their drinks are good & beers are cold. There isn't a bad dish & prices are reasonable. I LOVE Doughbird! This place continues to be a solid option for tasty versions of traditional dishes. I should have known--Sam Fox never disappoints! Rotisserie chicken, pizza, wings, chicken pot pie, and hummus all sound like basic dishes on paper, but mannnn are they all delicious and far from basic. You can taste the quality ingredients in each dish. My new favorite has to be the chicken pot pie! Hearty, savory, slightly sweet, and a buttery flaky crust. But, honestly you can't go wrong with any of the dishes! Service has never been a miss here. It's always been warm, helpful and friendly! The suggestions never miss, and you're always checked upon. There were maybe 2-3 instances where our pizza (wood-fired) took longer than usual. We actually didn't even notice or think that the pizza was taking long at all, but the staff was extremely apologetic and comped the pizza. Ambiance is casual-trendy, and airy! There's patio seating as well. The parking can get quite busy on the weekends. There's complimentary valet (also only on the weekends, I believe), but I dislike the pressure of tipping, so I just park to the side where parking isn't coned off. read more

Truthfully the food was absolutely overly salted. The mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie & prime roast. The prime roast must've been old as it was over cooked, dry and again SO SALTY. Having the worst stomach ache as of right now from eating here. Everything on the menu sounded so good but I'm highly disappointed. The only thing I'd recommend that I tried here was the shishito peppers with that amazing umami sauce. Wouldn't come back sadly. :( UPDATE: the prime rib gave me food poisoning. The place is interesting, cozy inside but noisy and sounds a bit like a cafeteria. The meat pizza was good and my wife's prime rib was good. The Brussels sprouts were ok , but smelled and tasted a bit odd. The Hefeweizen beer was good as was the sangria. Interesting offerings and presentations. I loved this place, the bar is large lots of open seats on a Tuesday and the dining room is large, the open kitchen is my favorite, we sat down at the bar and were greeted immediately. I got The Local, it's a vodka strawberry cocktail, very refreshing, my BF got his favorite a Manhattan. We ordered crispy pepperoni Yummm, I got chicken bolognese YUMMM, and my BF got crispy chicken parm with truffle risotto, he said double YUMM! We also needed to try their fresh baked baguette, it was chewy and crispy on the outside and doughy delicious on the inside! If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. We have been coming here for the last six years as a tradition after we play in a tournament in Tempe. Not only was the floor staff absolutely inexperienced and novice, the kitchen staff clearly in over their heads, and the restaurant manager an absolute disaster, BUT We waited almost 2 hours for our party of 25 to receive food! Halff of the party received appetizers and bits and pieces of their food. However, the second part of the party did not receive anything. We asked server, busser, food, runner, and manager, and we were literally told that we had to wait longer because of the rain because of The size of our party and that it was a Saturday night.. EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE half of our party was finished eating and THE OTHER HALF still didn't have food. Pizza you guys puzzzaaa! The manager should be fired. She should have apologized, she should have been understanding and instead she was condescending, patronizing, and honestly gave us one of the worst experiences ever experienced from a manager. I can't say that I'm surprised since she looked like she was about 21.. we will never return to this restaurant. Clearly they are going down. Parents were in town so we decided to try Doughbird. Pro tip, make a reservation so you don't have to worry about waiting. Food was incredible and service was super fast and attentive. It is a little loud inside (but it was a Friday night) so understandable. Rotisserie chicken was incredibly flavorful and delicious. Pitcher of sangria was so tasty and I loved the brussell sprouts. I've been to Doughbird a few times and the food has always been good. You can tell that they use better quality ingredients and they have a lot of unique recipes. The restaurant is trendy and the servers are very friendly, attentive, and our drinks were always filled. We ordered the Buffalo chicken wings which were delicious! The chicken fell right off the bone and the sauce was very good. We also ordered pizzas - The Aviator and a GF Barbeque Chicken. I had the Barbeque Chicken pizza a couple times a few years ago and tonight it tasted different and not as good for some reason (tasted more plain or like it was missing something), but overall our meal was great and the gluten free crust is handmade by the restaurant and is so good! read more

We stopped here for lunch on Sunday. I have driven by the restaurant a number of times and had an opportunity to check it out because we had family in town. The restaurant was very clean and the service was outstanding. I did think it was a little on the pricey side. The pizzas had some interesting options. The dough was a little on the thin side but it was flavorful and cooked properly. Plenty of toppings on the pizza too. No complaints there. We did get a chicken and avocado salad and I definitely thought it was on the small side. It was very good but for the money the portion seemed to be small. I ordered a glass of iced tea and I really enjoyed it. It was a crisp refreshing beverage to go with my meal. Came here because an MLB player's wife posted that this spot was at the top of her list during Spring Training. I understand why. Doughbird does everything right! Our table got a little taste of everything: drinks, salad, pizza, chicken and a load of sides! Their pizzas are a good size, but if you're hungry, you can definitely eat it all yourself! Pizza here is just not that good. The toppings are tasty but the crust is so soft, you have to hold it with both hands to prevent it from sagging. The manager at the dough bird on 44th street and Indian School road would not allow my service dog to drink water in her bowl! Which is a violation of ADA rules of discrimination! First time here and it's definitely a spot where I would return. When at a pizza place I'm always hoping to find a a white pizza with prosciutto, and it's mostly a miss. I was delighted that Doughbird had exactly what I was looking for. Also the shishito peppers appetizer is something totally different but it was super yummy. I'm Mexican and we love our spice with our dishes and having the shishito peppers really hit the spot. The server was pleasant and not overbearing. The inside bright and inviting. This most recent experience at Doughbird was far superior to our last. We sat at the bar and were greeted right away. We started with The Local and Old Fashioned. Both exceptional drinks. I would definitely recommend the local, I liked the fizz that the sparkling wine in this cocktail added. We split the Ingredient Salad with added rotisserie chicken and the hummus. The description for the Ingredient salad sounded great and it exceeded my expectations on flavor. The hummus and fresh bread were also exceptional. Since the kitchen is open I really enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the preparation, food and drinks coming out, and inner workings of the kitchen. read more

Great consistent food! Superb salads, tasty rotisserie chicken and pizza and pasta done well! Love the penne in vodka sauce. Wish the chicken skin wasn't soggy, but it was still tasty!! That lemon meringue pie with blackberry sauce is dream worthy! The cocktails are great. I did see they had valet but I didn't have to use it. Now the food..I'm a sucker for all things pot pies but theirs lacked flavor and especially salt. The crust was nice and somewhat sweet. Their chicken wings were good they had a lot of tangy buffalo sauce which was good and not so good. The tang sort of upset my stomach. We were in town to see our daughter for her birthday. She wanted to come here. She had made reservations for 7:45. We got there a little early and were seated on time. The place was busy. It was Saturday night. They have bar seating, booths, and tables. The decor is industrial, with metal chairs and beams with visible ducting in the vaulted ceiling. There is outdoor seating but it was chilly night. It has a hip casual vibe. As seems to be the case at most restaurants post COVID, it took a few minutes for the young male server to get to us. He was nice, polite, and accommodating, and did a good job. My wife and daughter had the seared salmon; our son and I had pizza. I had sausage and mushroom and he had another kind that has slipped my mind. My wife had broccoli and sweet potatoes for sides. Our kids liked their choices. My wife liked her salmon but the charred sweet potatoes had a bitterness to them such that she didn't finish them. I love pizza, but did not enjoy mine like I had hoped. I think I may have a gluten allergy so I ordered the gluten free crust. Unsurprisingly, it lacked flavor, but it was also soggy. I like my pizza crust crispy. I didn't taste the smoked mozzarella. Clearly, Doughbird is a happening place in a hip part of town. Lots of young people as well as older folks like myself (mid sixties). Sadly the service was a bit delayed. Took a while to get our drinks, take out order and 30-45 min for our food. Service was good. She had a smile on her face and kept our glasses full so not sure why our food took so long. It was never address either which was odd. The food was very delicious. This is far from my first time at Doughbird, but tonight I brought my uncle and aunt who were visiting in town. As soon as they said they wouldn't be far from Phoenix, I knew we had to take them here! I had never made a reservation with them online, but it was very quick and easy on the site. We got there about 15-20 minutes before our reservation and we're more than willing to wait outside, but our host offered us a seat at the bar so we had a couple of drinks (you NEED to try the old fashioned even if you're not a whiskey fan- A+!). We were seated right at our reservation time and guided to our table by our host again! Unfortunately I didn't think to get their name, but they were very kind and patient with us. Our dinner was nothing short of spectacular as it has been the past 4 or 5 times we have visited. Our waitress Jenna was so knowledgeable and made our relatives feel so welcome and comfortable! Even though it was a busy Saturday night, all the food and drinks were perfectly plated and mixed; they never once sacrifice quality for quantity here. At the end of the night we stayed a little past closing but never once felt rushed out the door. Everybody said goodbye to us as we left including Jenna!! She thanked us for our patience but really she was the reason we had such a memorable family meal. We will be back of course with many more friends and family, but Doughbird has been a special place for us ever since we were lucky enough to find it. Thank you for everything! read more
