One star is generous. I genuinely don't understand how a place can get something so basic so wrong. We came in on a Sunday evening: not a packed game day, not some insane rush, and it took over an hour and a half to get a simple meal. No appetizers. No complicated substitutions. Just straightforward orders that should have taken 45 minutes max. There was zero urgency from the staff. Completely aloof. It honestly felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. More attention seemed to be paid to outfits and socializing than to the fact that tables were waiting absurd amounts of time for food. No check-ins, no real apologies, no sense that anyone cared that service had completely fallen apart. Tag team tables so you'd get someone else than you start with. Food is also subpar. This was mismanagement and indifference on a slow night. Waiting 90+ minutes for a basic meal with disengaged service is completely unacceptable. There are too many decent options in Arizona to waste your time here. Done here. Not coming back. Bad mgmt on an epic scale. read more

The Porch has officially made it off my bookmark list! Finally got to try it with a coworker last night for Happy Hour. They do offer FREE valet parking, so take advantage of that if you aren't able to snag one of the regular spots in front like I did. You'll be pleasantly greeted by the Giant Gnome as you make your way to the entrance. The bar is pretty big and they have all kinds of liquor. I was seated immediately upon arriving around 5:15 pm. We were seated near the bar and entrance. Service was great, as they were not busy. We shared the Chicken Tinga Nachos and they hit the spot. Loaded high with shredded chicken, beans, cheese, and everything else, it was very satisfying. We also ordered the Jungle Juice and that was a great cocktail. It was a perfect mix of fruity flavors with just the right amount of alcohol. Coworker also ordered a beer, but it wasn't cold. I also ordered a side of the Sweet Potato Fries and they were delicious! I dip them in ranch and ketchup. Probably the best thing here was reading their Happy Hour menu and seeing their punchline motto "because we last 15 minutes longer than the rest!" LOL!!! This location is awful for many reasons.. Visited on a Monday this week, ended up leaving very dissatisfied. For starters, our service was extremely slow and non attentive even though it was NOT busy whats so ever. Because of this, I know for a fact that our food sat for a while before getting brought back to us. Our beers were flat, we had to request a whole different drink because of flat taps! Our group ordered a bowl with chicken tinga (was mediocre), the salmon (which was sub-par), the buffalo cauliflower was cold and less to be desired, at-least the mozzarella sticks were the best thing, and the chicken tenders were decent. Point is, I wish we were attended too and our waiter appeared to be annoyed. I do not understand this logic and how something can stay up so long as a business (outside of being a bar). I love it when I can give an honest review that's uplifting! We were tired. It was late. We had been to an event where the food was not what was expected. We stopped at the first place we could and wow. The porch burger was delicious!!! Our waitress was wonderful! So sad I don't remember her name because she was special. We left our credit card there and they had it. It was all good. We were the oldest in the crowd. It was a young place. It was nice and quiet so late in the night. The Porch is a sports bar that has a neat array of different types of seating areas. The table we were at did not smell good though. There was a large group of us which adds a 20% gratuity to our check. I paid for just 4 of us and our order consisted of 4 drinks, 6 jello shots, and an appetizer platter. The appetizer platter has some chicken egg rolls, some boneless buffalo chicken wings, some mozzarella sticks, a lot of tortilla chips, and a wide variety of sauces. This appetizer platter was enough for 6 of us to snack on. My favorite was the egg rolls but the rest of the platter was just okay and I only liked a few of the sauces. I thought it was neat that the jello shots actually came in a container that was modeled after a medical shot. The drinks were average too but super expensive. The service was also on point. Our bill for the 4 of us was $177.64 (including tax and tip). read more

A group of my friends and I came here last weekend for my birthday dinner. I chose this spot because I wanted somewhere casual that would be able to accommodate our larger party of 14. We had a reservation at 6:30 and got there around 6:15. The table they were going to seat us at had a party that had been there for a while (I think the host said 3-4 hours) so they had to seat us at a smaller table instead. This was okay at first but got pretty crammed when a couple more people arrived. We ended up pulling up another picnic table which worked but just made the table an awkward shape. No big deal and not the restaurants fault at all. We waited quite a while for our food to come out - which was okay considering our party was large and there were other people in the restaurant. However, the timing that they brought out the food was horrendous. I know most restaurants only allow a certain number of dishes to be rang in at once but I think in this case it was quite ridiculous. I got my nachos in the first round that was delivered to the table with others entree and it after that it took over 20 minutes for the last item to be delivered to the table. It would be 5 minutes between every time we would get food delivered to the table - often only 2 or 3 dishes at a time. Just weird timing and inefficient kitchen management in my opinion. My friend waited and watched everyone eat for 20 minutes before getting her "lemon kale chicken" wrap that did not have any kale, dressing OR chicken. I asked our server to comp the chicken wrap which she graciously did but I was still disappointed nonetheless. Not my favorite experience at the porch and probably won't be back anytime soon - especially if I have a larger party with me. read more

I love the Shanghai drink it comes in a cute to go box, and chop sticks. I think the forbidden rice comes in the cute box as well. I would say this is a place. I would recommend to my friends and I would come back to, there are just some improvements that could be had. I absolutely love the scenery. The outdoor space and seating is beautiful! The games look so fun, it's definitely a good time for friends and family to hang out and eat some good food. The food is honestly really good. A lot of of the items I had did punch some flavor, but some were lacking. This also was mid. The eggrolls were really good, the mozzarella sticks had a really good cheese pool. The protein bowl was good. But I really got full out the appetizer. The appetizer is a great choice for a group because there's a lot of items and they're a lot larger than you would think. The water is really good. I guzzled so much water in our server was really really good too. I don't remember his name, but he's really kind and always checked in on us! I have seen this place for years and wanted to go. Stopped in today at lunch time and was happy it was not busy at all. Got a nice seat on the back porch next to a heater. The ambiance is so cute! Really liked the cozy patio and decor. The host was a little ... snotty? He asked if we wanted inside or outside, and I said outside would be great if we could sit next to a heater (there were many of them scattered around the mostly empty patio). He commented that we could just sit inside and not have to mess with a heater. It wasn't the actual comment; it was the annoyed look on his face and acting a bit put out by the request. We placed our order (nothing weird, nothing changed from the menu description) and got our drinks. Food took at least 45 minutes to come out. The server never came back to check to see if we needed refills or offer an estimate of time for the food. Again, not crowded AT ALL. Just very very slow. The food was mediocre. Portion size was small for the price. The burger was super salty. I didn't say anything for fear of it taking another 45 minutes to get our food back. I am not a complainer typically and I take bad reviews with a grain of salt. Typically, I just don't leave reviews if I am unhappy. I was polite. I tipped 20%. I just wanted to let people know we didn't love it and probably won't be back. To feed myself and two kids with at tip was $60 and one of the kids only got an appetizer. My husband and I stopped by The Porch before our visit to Platform 18 after finding it on Google. The menu sounded delicious, so we were excited to try it. We ordered both the Mild and Garlic Parm wings. The Mild wings were delicious and definitely the highlight between the two. Unfortunately, the Garlic Parm wings were pretty bland -- it honestly tasted like parmesan was just sprinkled on top right before serving without much flavor added. I ordered the Nashville-style spicy grilled chicken sandwich lettuce wrapped, and it was disappointing. It lacked both flavor and spice, which was surprising considering the description. It may have lost something being lettuce wrapped, but overall it was pretty underwhelming. My husband ordered a burger and said it was good. What really stood out was our server I think he said his name was Mickey, who provided exceptional service throughout our visit. Really disappointing experience. It took about 7-10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After ordering drinks and an appetizer, we waited another 10 minutes with no drinks and no sign of our server. We decided to leave due to the lack of service. As we were getting up, the appetizer finally came out, but we asked them to disregard it. On our way out, we ran into our server, who still didn't have our drinks. It also wasn't busy at the time, which made the delays even more surprising. Overall, very slow and inattentive service, would not recommend. read more

When I travel for work, I am always on the lookout for a great Happy Hour spot for some good food and brews. I've tried a few on this trip, but the Yelp recommendations kept coming back to The Porch. This was the closest location to my hotel, so I decided to give it a try. It is tucked away in the Arcadia area, and it has limited parking. Even though there is a dedicated lot, it is sandwiched in between businesses. The setup for this place is fun, bright, and eclectic. It is definitely a bar anchored restaurant, but there are different seating options inside and a fun patio on the outside. Outside seating is bench and table seating, some regular tables, and tables with swings for chairs. I came around 5:30 pm to check out their happy hour, which ends at 6:15 - "15 minutes after the others" as their signs and site say. They also have a decent selection of daily specials in addition to the happy hour menu. Thursday was the Porch Burger and side for $12. I chose to sit at the bar, and I was promptly greeted by one of the bartenders who gave me a menu and answered my questions about the beers on tap. During my meal, I tried the Barrio sour and pineapple cider. Both were excellent and refreshing, but the pineapple cider was the better of the two. I also ordered the special of the Porch Burger and truffle fries. You can order it as two smashed patties or one big, juicy angus patty. I chose the smashed patties and added a fresh jalepeno. The fries were pretty good. The flavor was for sure there, but they were a little cold. The burger was good and very big. The bartender checked in with me several times throughout my meal which is always a plus. It does get a little loud in this restaurant which is what I would expect given the scheme of the restaurant to be a hangout like a porch. All in all, I'd give this location another try when in town for work. There are plenty of other menu options, lots of cocktail and draft brews, a fun atmosphere, and attentive service. Happy hour is the perfect time to visit. One odd note- to exit the parking you go through a side gate, down an alley, and through an apartment complex. Besides that, this is high up on my list of Happy Hour hangouts. read more

Wow.. lots has changed since my last visit. Apparently certain people have to leave a credit card at lunch time when they order alcohol with their lunch But not everybody. I was chosen today, felt like a random search at the airport that's not quite random. We got our food and one round of drinks, when I made contact with the bartender who never checked on us, and asked her for another round, she brought us the receipt to sign, she just charged it all to my card without bringing the check or confirming payment. We paid and left, clearly we weren't going to get another drink or good service. Most of the people after us did not have to leave a credit card. This place is a vibe! I knew instantly I was in the right place by the decor when I walked in. Down to the color mix of the furniture. What a fun place. From the bar to the outside patio it was easy to get comfortable. The games on the patio entertain kids and adults of all ages. I was pleased to see an actual good size parking lot and didn't have to drive around forever to find parking like so many places in the area. We ordered some drinks and looked over the menu. Years ago I'd been to The Porch location in Tempe, but this one is so much cooler. Our server was a bit slow to come back and get our order, but being observant we quickly noticed he was running tables on both sides of the bar as well as outside. No other servers in sight. I hope it was just because it was earlier in the day and he had help coming soon because it was getting busy quick. The bartender brought our drinks over when ready. They have some great weekly specials and since it was Tuesday I of course chose the chicken rings tacos that comes with chips and salsa. We also ordered hot wings and a porch pasta. Went to the porch for a bachelorette brunch! You can't beat the $20 buckets of mimosas, the service and the vibes! We sat outside and since it was shaded they set up the heaters to keep us warm! The biggest win, the brunch platter. This platter of amazingness contained brioche French toast sticks, omelette sliders on kings Hawaiian rolls, a chorizo, egg and cheese quesadilla and a pile of crispy potatoes. All of the accompanied by fresh fruit, delicious salsa and warmed syrup, plus a bowl of fresh whipped cream! This was a huge hit!! There was 8 of us and it was plenty to share! We did add the avocado toast, which was on a thick sourdough and served with eggs, and the chilaquiles served with green chili pork. We were a party of 6 and they made us sit outside on a 105 degree day because the bar was supposedly reserved for a private event. We watched and few of the tables in the bar area filled. We waited 20 mins for anyone to come to our table. They brought waters initially and waited another 15 mins for 4 waters and 2 iced teas. When they finally took our order, we had been there an hour. Another 30 mins later, two of six dishes came out. Over the next 30 mins, they brought one dish at a time. We walked in at 1pm and finally got the last order of food at 2:30p.
