Hands down my favorite spaghetti and meatballs in Denver! It is seriously unreal! Took my sister here who is a big spaghetti fan and she agreed. Their pasta is homemade, their sourdough bread appetizer is really yummy, and their other menu items are pretty unique! I've only ever ordered takeout before but got to enjoy this meal in their restaurant yesterday which was really nice. The vibe of the restaurant is fun. This place has been on my wishlist for YEARS. Finally went as they opened at 5PM. Service was really great. I would go back again! Appetizers: -Artichoke was definitely something I wasn't expecting, but I'm still thinking about it so it did leave an impression. -Broccoli was really good! Highly recommend! Ordered the squid ink cavatelli and it was inedible! I have gotten various types of squid ink pasta from other areas and this was so spicy you couldn't even taste the pasta! Not to mention random crunchy bits of pasta like it wasn't cooked through and others chewy. First time there and would NOT come back. Save your money. read more

Not really sure what the food is like here but my girlfriend and I attempted to dine here tonight and were refused the table (the one not in the middle of the room) we requested only to watch it given immediately to the two people behind us in line. The host said only groups of four were seated there; interesting because the pair they sat right in front of us were sitting at the same type of table next to another couple. Maybe this isn't a good place for 40 something's and they only cater to the younger crowd? Really cute tapa style restaurant. You order and then sit, they have about 8 seats of individual bar style on the side too. Came with a group of girls so we ended up ordering a couple of items and family styled it. I loved loved the rigatoni pasta, the broccoli was good too. I would ask the server or cashier for recommendations because two of the items we ordered weren't that good, tasted a little bland... pretty sure we took two bites and left it. But on the contrary, two plates we did order were amazing (pasta and appetizer) I'm giving an extra star because of the dessert that was brought to us at the end, very sweet service from workers. This place is fast casual (counter service) and has absolutely no décor. The space is a completely undecorated box. The food is good, but I found the prices rather high for a place with minimal overhead compared to a full-service restaurant. I popped in for a to-go order of the chicken thigh spiedini and spaghetti with lamb meatballs. I received a huge bag that was filled with the two dishes plus a third container with a generous serving of a good, crusty bread. I had never before found spiedini on a Denver menu. The chicken skewers were pretty tasty and came with some carmelized cipollini onions. The spaghetti was nicely al dente. The lamb meatballs were OK. The bread was very good. Both of the dishes were very, very dry. I added quite a bit of butter and olive oil when I warmed them up. That improved the taste a lot for me. I can't get around the pricing. The portions were small. The prices were very high. I've compared the pricing to Cattivella, another relatively new Italian restaurant. Cattivella is a high-end space with very fancy décor, an expensive location, and a big staff. The prices compared to Dio Mio are right in the same ballpark. I don't get it, particularly as the portions at Cattivella are much more generous. All of their pasta is also hand-made, so the concepts are similar. I'd be a lot more enthusiastic if the prices were one third lower. read more

We sat outside and had to walk inside to order at the counter, be sure your whole party orders at the same time. The pasta was pretty good, I got the spaghetti and meatballs. A friend and I wanted to grab dinner before we headed to the stock show, and this is a few doors down from my office. We walked out of this place stuffed and so happy! They have a wine special 2 for $6, the house white was great. We ended up getting the Simple Salad, the Burrata/bread, and the Cacio E Pepe pasta. So this is how you know it's good.... I forgot to take pictures! Dio Mio is packed on weekends so either get there early or do a date night during the week. I love that it is 5 star food but with a casual dining environment. It is counter ordered. I went with 4 people and we each got something different so we can try it all. 1. Radiatori - highly recommend if you love pesto 2. Cacio e Pepe - my boyfriend from Italy says if you can make this good, you can make anything - he gives this 5 stars 3. Rigatoni - this has a little kick to it but in a good way. So good. 4. Casarecce - delicious! Can't go wrong here. We were craving pasta. Drove up here and put our name in for the 45 min wait. The place was bustling! Brussels sprouts were the best thing on the menu. Crispy, complex flavor profile, and highly satisfying. Artichokes were okay. Too tangy and acidic. I hate pickled/jarred/canned artichokes (not sure which these were). The broccoli was covered with a thick white sauce that was not flavorful. Only had a few bites of that one. Now the pasta. I had the spaghetti. It had a weirdly slimy texture of sauce. Strangely flavorless dish and wet and like I said, slimy. The pasta was chewy and mostly flavorless. I think the entire dish lacked salt both in the sauce and pasta dough. I don't understand why the wait is so long and this place is so busy. The other members of my table got the radiatore and spaghetti as well and left feeling unsatisfied and confused about their mediocre pasta. My dish had 2 big pasta clumps in it where the noodles were congealed together into a mass. Super disappointing and unappetizing. Sadly, won't be making the trip here again. Service was good though. I came here yesterday with my boyfriend to check out the Dio Mio because we saw online that it was a newly awarded Michelin star restaurant. We were pretty excited, we reviewed the menu beforehand, and we're prepared to wait whatever amount of time to get a table. When we initially got there, we were told that it was going to be a 25 minute wait. We were put on the text waitlist and were told that our table was ready 20 minutes later so we were pretty pumped. We were seated, and were explained by the host how everything worked. He was not shy about mentioning that this restaurant was a Michelin star restaurant so we had a high expectations and we're overall super excited. We read online that they had a full bar, so that's what we were expecting. But this wasn't the case at all. They couldn't even make a simple margarita. We weren't upset about that at all and I'm not taking that into account on this review, but when you advertise something as a full bar, you would expect them to make a simple cocktail. The way this restaurant works is that you have to walk up to the counter and order all together. We ordered the focaccia, the spaghetti with meatballs, the chicken Parmesan, some Italian specialty cocktail, and the house white wine. My boyfriend initially tried to order the Fiore, but were told that it was completely sold out. We were also asked to tip once we were done ordering, which I didn't like considering tipping is usually based on the quality of service. When I ordered the house wine, I noticed that it did come out of a boxed wine bag, which was surprising, considering this is a "Michelin star restaurant". The Italian specialty cocktail was delicious though. We got our focaccia brought to the table and noticed that the bread was so severely burnt that it was black on the outside, and it was way too hard to chew, and couldn't even ask for assistance because we didn't receive any service throughout our entire dining experience other than getting our food brought to the table. I would've asked for at least new bread, but I felt like I didn't have the opportunity to do so. Once that nightmare was over, we got our pastas brought to the table. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and I was ready to dig in. When I went to eat my pasta, I noticed that my meatballs were entirely cold. Normally at any other restaurant, a server usually comes up and asked how everything was. This was not the case throughout our entire experience. Nonetheless, my boyfriends chicken Parmesan was good, and at least his chicken in his pasta was warm. Through our dining experience here, we kept questioning how this place even got such a respectable award. To say the least, I will not be returning to this establishment. Try Olive Garden next time, and you'll at least get hot food and decent service. read more

It's rare that I'm blown away by both food and service but Dio Mio is top notch. Came by with a friend on a weekday night. The wait was super long so we put our name in and went to get a drink elsewhere, while contemplating if we could hold out (we were very very hungry). We weren't given a time estimate but the host said they would hopefully get us seated by the time they close but no guaranties? It was not looking good. Half an hour into the wait I had the bright idea to just order online and pick it up. However as we were walking back, our name was called way early! I hate to be a fussy customer but asked the host if we could eat our pick up order in the restaurant. She coordinated with the kitchen and waitstaff and pulled through. We got seated and our food came in a flash. Amazing!! Not sure if other places would have even done that, especially on a busy night. I wish I got the host's name because she went above and beyond. Also the food was amazing like damn who knew artichokes could taste so good? Won't even start on the pasta...Just order anything and you'll have a great time. When I saw this spot made the Michelin list for Denver I laughed out loud and told everyone I know who has been there with me because this place kind of sucks and everyone I have been there with has been disappointed as well. I love pasta and wanted this place to work out so bad but anyone could make better pasta at home since they just throw a ton of tiny chopped ingredients in a pan and on your plate. The sauces are nothing special and we always leave hungry and don't finish our plate. I cannot believe this place is always packed and I imagine it is just from this phony reputation. The surrounding neighborhood KNOWS this isn't the spot and your money is far better spent at Lou's around the corner. 2 stars because their service is good and I did once enjoy a funky red Bull cocktail there. Great texture and fresh ingredients. The Squid Ink Radiatori was interesting because there was kimchi involved. Like, what? Honestly, I liked it. It brought such a different element to the dish. It was like a weird Korean Italian fusion and somehow it came together. There was a bit of spice and tang to the dish and it all just mixed well together for me. The CO Corn Ravioli was the star of the show. Really unique flavor profile with the ancho chile. I was totally here for it. I think that overall the pastas were all really well made. I loved the texture and the density of each pasta. The most unique was the Cacio e Pepe pasta. I loved the way it carried the sauce! It was really pretty pasta too! I wasn't a huge fan of the broccoli, it was definitely over-salted. Overall, would recommend if you're in the area. This place was definitely more on the casual (and maybe even more takeout) side than a sit down fine dining experience. You order and pay at the counter when you walk in and then take a seat until someone brings out your plate. I am a picky orderer due to some food allergies and preferences so I am well used to not always getting the "perfect" dish. However, the staff was incredibly helpful and able to get all my annoying customizations in. I'm not one to actually write out reviews often but after my last visit, it feels necessary. I visited Dio Mio a year ago and had a great experience. The music, atmosphere, and food were great. I recommended it to multiple friends and the few that have gone had a pretty good experience. I finally got back there last weekend and the staff seems to not care how things are for the patrons. Not sure if it's because we have to tip before we get our food or what it is. But we got appetizers where the bread came out burnt to a near crisp. It then took close to an hour to get our food with no update whatsoever. 2 out of the 5 dishes we got came out cold and never had someone check in to see how the food was. Then when one of the dishes was barely touched and asked what was wrong, we said it was cold and the waitress said sorry, chuckled, and took the plate but that was it. Some of the dishes were still good but it was pretty frustrating because it's a nice place and this experience made it slide down a lot. read more

I've been a big fan of this house made noodle spot in RiNo for a bit. Last night I ordered takeout and was blown away by the food quality. Despite living gin RiNo and running a restaurant down the way, I really wanted to support them directly without using a delivery service but no one picked up the phone (I called in the middle of dinner so no biggie). I had to use Postmates because I was severely lazy by that point. The order was fast! The prices in Postmates were higher than their listed menu and the fees were bonkers. I'll Lille never do that again but that's all on PM. Now, Dio Mio delivered on every dish and it was AS GOOD as having it dining in. The chopped salad was hearty and heavenly. I could not get over how good the cacio de pepe was - I added fennel sausage. House bread was focaccia and so pillowy and perfect for sponging up sauce. The chicken Parmesan (pedestrian to order I know but I heard it was the best), and it delivered on every damn level: spicy, cheesy, crispy, and so moist. It came with a beautiful house spaghetti that was clearly from scratch. It clumped up in spots like real pasta should! Finally the rhum cake: yes please. Five more of those will do. Visited Dio Mio on a Thursday around 8:50pm. We were surprised that the place was packed, luckily there was one table left. The place is counter service so head to the cashier first to place your order then grab a number to your table. Should note that the place can be really loud when crowded. We started out with the broccoli and the fritto misto for appetizer. The fritto misto was the better choice mainly due to the fact it was fried. The caper remoulade that came with it was great. As for the main dishes we were hungry and couldn't decide so we went with the spaghetti with meatballs, the CO beef cannelloni, and the cavatelli. The winner by far was the cannelloni, it had everything going for it. Our least favorite was the cavatelli, the onions that came with it was the best part. Phenomenal pasta! And strong wine list for pairing. I've been wanting to try Dio Mio for awhile and finally made the time to go earlier tonight. I wavered between the classic cacio e pepe and the seasonal casarecce puttanesca, but went for the casarecce. It was SO SO SO good! The right amount of sour/salty/umami. I ate the whole bowl (and I am a small person!). Had a great Italian wine (a nero d'avola) to go with, and all in all it was a great meal. Hubs had the chicken park, which was HUGE and also delicious. He could not eat it all! Ordering/paying is definitely different but we appreciated being able to just head out at the end of the meal.
